Muse Muse Muse… Everbodies favourite live band release the second single from Black Holes & Revelations after the slightly confused, and all the better for it, Supermassive Black Hole that sounded like Britney and Kylie fighting with live electric cables and was utterley ace. This, however, sounds like Keane. Keane Keane Keane… Music fans seem to hate them with a passion for some reason (no guitars, middle class, grade 8 piano, each has a butler and a cook, they might play squash, etc) but I have to say that I actually liked a lot of the early singles. But this isn’t Keane, its Muse Godammit and it shouldn’t be an other radio filler, middle of the road song. It should have robots, lasers, explosions and a bit more oompth to it. Why didn’t we get Knight of Cydonia like what the Yanks did? Lets just go with the idea that the record label got to decide this release shall we…

I like them but I think they wanted to reach out to the haters with a more rock sounding second album and lost some of the magic.
I think that they were meant to get an NME cover a few weeks back, and then Syd Barrett popped his clogs, the Keane article was downgraded to a single page and no cover.

Some of you may remember my old Starlight skins from days of yore.  Next to the Retro Pinup skins, these were some of the most popular skins I’ve ever made.  I was a little sad to retire them because I just adored the makeup on them so much, it’s one of my favorites!  But I was super unhappy with the bodies I had butchered back then so they got the chop.  Well after a few requests to bring them back, I decided it was time to revist them so they’ve been revamped in a few new color schemes and all on the latest bodies.  So without further ado… here’s the new skins in Peach.. click over to my Flickr page to see the other skin tones. ^^

• I use a rough, scribble-like style for the objects
• I use photographs I took for the backgrounds
• The contrast between real and scribbled is important
• Keeping an artistic theme constant is key. Don’t flip-flop!
• The logo is consistent with the theme
• The main menu is a blend of styles

Konstantin Stepanov- Tenor

Was born in Uzbekistan and was raised in Russia.
He received his musical education, majoring in vocal performance at one of the most highly acclaimed music schools in the world – the Moscow State Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky.
Konstantin was a soloist of the Bolshoi Theater, a guest singer at Teatro Della
Scala and the Kirov Theater, and the winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition.
Konstantin Stepanov was the only singer who has ever received the outstanding achievement Scholarship awarded by the Nobel Prize Laureate Dr. Jores Alferov.
Konstantin won the first prize in both, the regional and the final rounds of a major international Lieder Competition in 2005 and the third prize of the Bella Voce National Vocal Contest in 1998 at the age of 22. Soon he was selected to participate in the prestigious Young Artists program of Moscow State Opera Theater who requires extraordinary musical skills of its participants.

During his 21-year performance career Konstantin has worked with a number of performing Arts Institutions in the United States and Europe.
In 2003 he toured the U.S as a soloist with the Moscow Choir Academy.
By the age of 26 he had the honor to sing with a number of world famous conductors including Evgeny Svetlanov of the Sweden Royal Academy, Professor Emeritus of the Moscow State University and Valery Gergiev, Artistic Director and General Conductor of the Marinsky Kirov Opera House, Leading guest Conductor of the Metropolitan
Opera.

Konstantin has participated in many International Festivals in Russia, France,
Estonia, Japan and Poland. He has more than a dozen audio recordings, his discography includes a CD recorded with the world music legend Goran Bregovic.
Konstantin Stepanov is gifted with an extraordinary rich deep tenor who can move his audience with his powerful voice.
Currently, he performs throughout the Metropolitan Area in private concerts and with the members of the “DOLCISSIMO” group.

                        YURY VIDERMAN- Tenor
Yury Viderman- Tenor, was born and educated in Russia, earning a Master Degree in vocal performance and attending Cantorial School in Moscow.
He completed his Vocal Education at Tel Aviv’s Cantorial Institute.
Yury has won awards in Russia and Israel and has been heard in recitals in both countries as well as in Germany.
Concerts and Opera performances have kept him busy, as well as a recent four-year stint as conductor of the Boy’s Choir, Magic Wand.

Yury is gifted with a sensitive charming Tenor and his
High notes can often bring tears to your eyes.

Currently, Yury performs in concerts throughout the Metropolitan Area, with the “DOLCISSIMO” group and with the Choir of the NY and Hampton Synagogue.

                            VAGO JOHN OHANYAN- Baritone
John Ohanyan-Baritone, was born in Yerevan Armenia.
He holds a Doctoral degree in Arts Education and an MA in Music Performance from
The former Soviet Union, as well as a certificate from the Julliard School.
In 1996 John became a union member of the American Guild of Musical Artists.
In 2002 he appeared as a soloist with the American Symphony Orchestra, conducted by
Leon Botstein, in a concert version of Rachmaninoff’s Francesca Da Rimini at Avery Fisher Hall, produced by MidAmerican Productions.
John made his critically praised New York City Opera debut in 2006 as Sid in Puccini’s la Fanciulla Del West.

Other highlights includes solo recitals with the Boston Chamber Orchestra and the role of Silvo in Pagliacci with the New York’s Opera Mobile at Lincoln Center.
In Russia, he was a soloist in G. Faure’s and with Mozart’s Requiems with the
St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

Mr. Ohanyan continues performing Internationally at various prestigious Festivals and
Opera houses, as well as with the “DOLCISSIMO” group, as a Baritone and as the
Musical director. He was gifted with a very powerful rich Baritone who leaves deep
Impression on his audiences.

In addition to his singing talent, John is a wonderful pianist and currently teaches piano and voice lessons.
He is also a member of the NY and Hampton Synagogue Choir since 2007.

                            ESTY TZABAR CRISONA-Soprano
International Soprano  class=”hiddenSpellError” pre=”Soprano “>Esty Tzabar Crisona came to the U.S from Israel after building an impressive singing and dancing career overseas.
Growing up with a father who was an opera singer, Esty developed a love for music at a very early age. She went on to perform in musicals and numerous productions as a singer and as a dancer.
In the Israeli army she served in an army musical troup and entertained the soldiers on the borders.

Esty also danced in the ballet troup of the Israeli Opera. She performed throughout Israel, Europe and the U.S.
Esty toured the U.S with the  class=”hiddenSpellError” pre=”the “>Chassidic Festival and with the German production “Halleluya Broadway” in Europe.

She represented Israel in the prestigious European Song Festival-The “Eurovision” and together with “Alpha Beta” group, won the first place with the song “Aba-Nibi”.

Esty is classically trained and her wide singing range enables her to sing a vast repertoire of songs from contemporary to Broadway and from Jazz to Opera.

Currently, Esty performs with special guest artists and with the DOLCISSIMO opera singers, in concerts throughout the Metropolitan area.

                              DMITRI SHEVELEV- TENOR
Dmitri Shevelev- Tenor, was born in Russia and grew up in a musical home with parents who were accomplished concert pianists.
His music education began at a tender age.
At 6 years of age he began to sing in a choir that performed throughout the
Soviet Union as well as other countries. When he was 13, his family moved to Israel and there he continued his musical education.
Dmitri performed with the New Israeli opera (N.I.O) for a period of 4 years.

Upon arriving in the U.S in 2002, he attended the Staten Island College and the Brooklyn College Conservatory, there he sang lead parts in the college opera productions.

Dmitri has participated in operatic work shops for young artists in the
U.S and abroad. He also sings with the operatic choir of the NY and Hampton
Synagogue.

Dmitri is gifted with a very rich powerful Tenor and with the emotions he brings to each performance, he touches the heart of his audience.

In addition to his musical talent, Dmitri is a Chess Master. He began playing Chess at the age of 6 and today he is considered one of top 4% in the world.
Currently he teaches Chess in New York area and runs Chess competitions for children.

Dmitri can be heard on the concert stages in the Tri State area and is planning for more concerts in the very near future with the “DOLCISSIMO” group.

A while back, I told you about Versace’s Art Unites line of totes.  The totes feature designs by children and all profits benefit the Starlight Foundation and the Jet Li One Foundation.

Now, after being revealed at Milan Fashion Week and in the October Harper’s Bazaar, we finally have some photos of them.

The bags are on sale now at Versace boutiques, and will be available on Gilt Group starting tomorrow.  They cost between $200 and $250.

I found this poem a while ago, posted it on FaceBook, and have gotten lots of great feedback on how helpful it has been for many.  So here it is again.

The Dance Trust of Zimbabwe put on their annual “Starlight Dancing” show over 5 days last week. I took the opportunity to get some photo practice and they liked what they saw after Thursday night so I was invited back. It was amazing what they managed to put on considering all the various dance studios are cash strapped and the DTZ is pretty much broke.

Most of these photos are from the first night when I took photos for my own enjoyment. On Sunday someone came up with the idea that we should sell them to raise a bit of money for the DTZ and that totally changed my approach to a “mass appeal” market. The best photos are not usually from the front of the stage where the background can be cluttered!

Para mi un nuevo descubrimiento esa súper banda inglesa con tintes de rock alternativo; seguro se van a burlar de mi por llegar tarde al concierto, pero ya saben, estoy peque y muy mensa.

Mi recién adquirida adicción sucedió de pronto y sin darme cuenta cuando escuche por primera vez hace muy poco la estupenda canción “Starlight” cuya poética letra y melodiosa música me hacía querer perseguir una estrella; y de esa forma lo inevitable sucedió comencé a escuchar todas sus rolas y me clave con estos ingleses cuyo estilo y sonido vocal me recuerdan muchísimo a los chicos de RADIOCABEZA.

Y a pesar de que algunas rolas suenan igual o evocan mismas letras o estilos a mi me gustan “un resto”.

Inclusive el remake “Cant Take My Eyes Off You” suena delicioso en manos de Matt y de Muse, al principio me pareció un poco rara la versión, pero después de unos segundos se aprecia muy bien el estilo que le dan estos chicos.

Y por cierto Vic, Muse no es nada “EMO” es rock un poco fresón (como a mi me gusta) a sí que yo y todos los fans de Muse te demandamos que te retractes de tus mal intencionadas y absurdas palabras ó de lo contrario exigiremos una satisfacción.
