In a bit of fun and interesting timing it turns out I’ll be going to flocon in New Orleans this January.

Since I’ve spent the past 2-3 years doing business risk and security architecture, national sector level strategy, policy, etc….but now find myself getting into the technical details of building a CERT (ICS-CERT, specifically)…it’s suddenly time to get more up to speed on flows and how people are using them these days (Especially since I’d previously spent most of my time with firewalls and IDS data and not netflow / SiLK stuff).

My work on and release of pkviz this past weekend has helped a bit to get me re-focused on data analysis and playing with correlation tools and methodologies, but I’m still finding it odd going back to my earlier technology-centric security role  – which I’d thought I’d given up.  My head space has to be completely different than it was and I have to work around what some have called my fatalistic belief that technical security measures and analysis are doomed to fail in the face of our complete lack of interest in doing business risk architectures.

What scares me a little, though, is when I’ve been talking to people and doing research lately, it seems the state of the art of IDS, Flows, SEMS, SIEMS, network data analysis, etc. hasn’t changed all that much in the past few years. More vendors have sold more products, but they still do the same (questionable) things it seems. What gives? Am I off base?

Still, I’m pretty excited to get back into this type of thing and about the con. Who’s going to be there?

According to Hornbill’s study report written by Mauricio Marrone (published September of 2009), the main barriers to ITIL adoption are (barrier with most responses at the top): 

1. Lack of resources ([people] time or people)
2. Cultural resistance to organizational change
3. Maintaining momentum/progress stagnates

These barriers depend on that fundamental little element on organizations: People. Whence, IT management and IT Governance must align execution and responsibility with envolved people to make sure producing relevant outcomes on time does happen.

From the same source, we known that for 70% of organizations under the survey, IT is represented on executive board. On the reverse side of the coin,  at 50% of the very same organizations, IT and business meet quarterly or less frequently, making it hard the forementioned alignment and envolvement.

And would the interviewed people for this study do differently had they another go for ITIL? Communication and education is key:

• Help business understand ITIL
• Get top management on board
• Educate key people as early as possible

In today’s market, computer dive watches are considerably more affordable and thus, accessible to the average diver than in the days when they were a new item.

While a dive computer watch tends to lack the status appeal of an analog diving watch, serious scuba divers can benefit immensely from having up-to-the-minute data on their wrists. A dive computer is a great investment, even if not used as a primary watch.

The Centre plans to bring a “state-of-the-art” legislation in the Winter session of Parliament to deal with complaints of corruption against judges and ensure accountability in higher judiciary.

The Judges Standards and Accountability Bill will cover the “entire judiciary” and would not be a “one sided affair”. It would also provide appropriate protection to the judges so that “it will not be misused,” says Law and Justice Minister entire judiciary.

He said the Judges Inquiry Act of 1968 would be repealed once the proposed bill is adopted. “The Judges Inquiry Bill deals only with the impeachment process of judges. We want to replace it with a comprehensive Judges Standards and Accountability Bill,” he said.

The Government’s plan assumes significance in the context of growing complaints of misconduct against judges of the higher judiciary and a feeling that redress system was not effective.

The “forward looking” bill has been drafted after taking into consideration “the best of lessons” learnt from all over the world, including United Kingdom, France and the US.

“It would have clarity on all issues, including those related to prior the appointment and after the appointment of a judge,” Moily said, noting that it would cover the “entire judiciary.”

He, however, said the judiciary “cannot be kept in the same room with politicians. They cannot hold a press conference like politicians if something is said about them,” he explained.

Declining to reveal the salient features of the “most comprehensive legislation”, Moily said that the much talked about bill would soon be circulated to various ministries before being brought to the Union Cabinet.

Julien Beneyton was born in 1977 in Grenoble, Isère (France).
In 1995, he came to study in Paris, he finished graduated from a graphic design school, but finally he decided not to follow this path and try to get in the « Beaux-Arts » school of Paris wich is a success.
In 1997, Julien finally gets a place in Amor art class studio.

Even if he always liked drawing, he discovered the painting ; it inspired him and pushed him to show his environment, things around him. His painting subject is the everyday life, neighbourhoods, portraits of people he meets in the streets, and also friens and family.

In 2001, he graduated from the « Beaux-Arts » school of Paris with honor granted unanimously by the jury.
In 2002, he took part in the exhibition « L’art c’est secondaire » organised by Christian bernard. Two of his paintings entered in the MAMCO collection (Museum of modern and contemporany arts of Geneva, Switzerland).
The same year, he began working with Alain Le Gaillard Gallery.
Julien was presented in various international fairies, collective exhibitions and regular solo shows at his gallery. All those events took place in Paris, Bologna (Italia), Brussel (Belgium), London (U.K), Warsaw (Poland)…

Hip-hop music, takes a great part in his inspiration. As a matter of fact, this passion appears in his tribute portraits of rappers he listen to and also admires.

After a lot of paintings of Paris and his neighbourhoods, Julien gets the feeling he has to see others countries to ressource himself.
So in 2004, he goes to Poland for a workshop ; in 2006 he goes for several months to New York City (USA).
The year after, he discovered Nouakchott in Mauritania.
In 2007, he participates to an exhibition at the Salomon Fondation (France) called « Peinture()s / generation 70 » currated by Phillipe Piguet.
In 2008, a painting enters in the « Fond National d’Art Contemporain »’s collection.

Today Julien Beneyton is always in collaboration with Alain Le Gaillard and Olivier Robert.
Julien Beneyton lives and works in Paris.
