The Hippie counterculture that started out in the 1960’s was more than just a movement advocating peace and freedom. What started out as a peaceful protest against the established societal norms and political arena that was in place, became an entire lifestyle that the hippies lived out from waking to sleeping, and from head to toe.

A lot of people followed the hippie movement. Some were motivated to become hippies themselves, while some found their views and how they expressed them quite interesting. Even if some were not exactly that passionate about what the hippies lived for, the hippie trend still managed to catch on. From long-haired men, to vegetarians, and to odd clothes, a lot of people soon had a bit of a hippie in them.

Although the hippie statement about breaking free from society and pursuing liberation and peace was the movement’s main theme, it became easy for people to know hippies more popularly because of their odd way of dressing and conducting themselves. Because of their rather eccentric clothes, they stood out quite starkly from the crowd. This is why the term “hippie” would often bring to mind a long-haired person, clad in sandals or sometimes even barefoot, wearing colorful tie-dyed shirts, a vest, bell-bottom pants, and several other accessories. For the ladies, the picture may also consist of colorful peasant blouses and long, full skirts.

These fashion threads have now been modernized and are accepted by the fashion world. Bell-bottom pants are now a worldwide hit. What used to be trendy back in the past, and went out of the trend for a long time, is now the “it” pair of jeans nowadays. The long, full skirts of the hippie women are now an option for any woman who wants to go feminine. The skirts are now designed in new and creative ways, using different fabrics, and come in various designs and colors. The peasant blouses are also a worldwide success. The blouses are even extended to become peasant dresses by maintaining its basic design. The blouses now come in many different varieties, colors, designs, just as long as it does not lose the basic peasant look. The tie dye trend is also now used in a variety of garments. T-shirts, tank tops, skirts, dresses, sundresses, hats, and even underwear are now tie-dyed. The mix of bright colors has made tie-dyed garments popular especially during the summer season.

Due to the wide fashion arena that accepts almost everything as a fashion statement, no matter how weird a piece of clothing may look at first, fashion can make it seem trendy and beautiful in the long run. As the hippie fashion threads caught on, people begun to look at them as strong fashion statements – eccentric and unique clothes that stood out from the crowd and was closely associated with freedom of expression. A lot of people, especially those who wanted to be unique, embraced the trend fully.

Up to the present, some modern-day hippies still wear the same odd clothes. But they’re not so odd anymore, because they’ve become part of the fashion mainstream. Some who wear the getup are possibly not true-blue hippies at all. We also see a lot of movie roles who sport the hippie getup. It has also somehow become a stereotype, because of the popularity it obtained.

However, no matter how commercialized the hippie fashion statement may get, in truth, it is still closely linked with hippie values. After all, when a hippie getup is seen, it is still known as “the hippie getup”. And it still epitomizes what the hippies stood for. Freedom from restrictions and of self-expression, in that they sported long, unkempt-looking hair without caring what other people may think. Liberation and opposition of the corporate pillars in place, in that they often made their own clothes and went barefoot. Peace and love, in that they use cheerful, bright colors that show off a peaceful, positive outlook in a beautifully free life.

Ok so you have to choose between jeans and don’t know which ones are meant for you. You hate the dilemma and think all of them are meant for you! Just relax and don’t freak out …you need help so just read on.

Some tips will work as a blessing for you when it comes to choosing a perfect pair of jeans. Jeans are meant for all kinds of tall, short and average sizes. So you must know which one will work for you.

When you enter the jeans sections you will probably end up freaking out where to begin and which ones to try out. A few tips can help you shortlist the options and make your shopping experience much easier.

Tips for choosing the right pair of jeans

Before you choose to buy jeans you have to decide which pair of shoes will go with it. The heel of a shoe is the key factor in determining the kind of looks the jeans will give to your body once it flows down your legs.

- Keep in mind that you have to leave margins for the pair of jeans to shrink after their first wash. The size will alter a bit and so will the shape so keep that on the list of tips.

- If you have nice abs then a low-rise jeans will really do the trick of showing them and make heads turn.

- Boot cut designs are wider at the point of leg openings and a little loose in fitting through leg lines.

- Flare jeans have a wide opening at the lower leg and are fun to wear.

- Stonewashed jeans appear faded and funky

- Distressed jeans are designed with shredded fabric appearance, holes or even crinkle which give it an appearance as if it is worn out.

- Dark colored jeans suit night occasions perfectly.

- Take a look at what body shape you have and you will be able to choose the right pair of jeans to go with it.

- If you are a bit chubby then boot cut jeans can give you the slender proportionate look and make your legs look curvy. Darker colors will easily hide any bulges you have.

- If you have a slender body then flared jeans will look very nice on you. If you have flat abs then low rise jeans will also appear sexy and appealing.

- Athletic bodies go well with boot cut jeans to compliment the narrow hips. Low rise jeans are also suitable for such body shapes.

- True Religion as well as 7 is the latest and trendiest design for jeans lovers today.

Jeans are no longer just worn casually. Designer wear jeans are now worn on semi formal occasions just as frequently with formal tops and heels.

Well blonds are usually said to be more attractive.
Since ice age they have been more wanted then normal brown haired girls.
With ages to come natural blond hair and blue eyes will die away.

They will meld in with the brown haired to create a Grey mix;
The children born with this ‘no color’ unattractive hair will bleach and color their hair, trying to feel pretty.

As time goes the chemicals will kill their hairs and a new generation of hairless people will be born…

What Strategic Planning is not?

Clearly, strategic planning is no panacea. Strategic planning is simply a set of concepts, procedure

Clearly, strategic planning is no panacea. Strategic planning is simply a set of concepts, procedures, and tools designed to help leaders, managers, and planners think and act strategically. Used in wise and skillful ways by a “coalition of the willing,” strategic planning can help organizations focus on producing effective decisions and actions that further the organization’s mission, meet in mandates, and satisfy key stakeholders. But strategic planning is not a substitute for strategic thinking and acting. Only caring and committed people can do that. And when used thoughtlessly, strategic planning can actually drive out precisely the kind of strategic thought and action it is supposed to promote.

Furthermore, strategic planning is not a substitute for leadership. There is simply no substitute for leadership when it comes to using strategic planning to enhance organizational performance. At least some key decision makers and process champions must be committed to the strategic planning process, or any attempts to use it are bound to fail.

In addition, strategic planning is not synonymous with creating an organizational strategy. Organizational strategies have numerous sources, both planned and unplanned. Strategic planning is likely to result in statement of organizational intentions, but what is realized in practice will be some combination of what is intended and what emerges along the way. Strategic planning can help organizations develop and implement effective strategies, but they should also remain open to unforeseen opportunities. Too much attention to strategic planning and excessive reverence for strategic plans can build organizations to other unplanned and unexpected—yet incredibly useful—sources of information, insight, and action.

The discipline necessary for strategic planning can be of two sorts. The first harkens back to Latin root of the word “discipline,” emphasizing instruction, training, education, and learning. The second embodies later interpretations of the word, emphasizing order, control, and punishment. Emphasis should be placed on education and learning, although there clearly are occasions when imposing order, taking control, and enforcing appropriate sanctions are appropriate. Certainly, key leaders, managers, and planners can best use strategic planning as an educational and learning tool, to help them figure out what is really important and what should be done about it. Sometimes this means following a particular sequence of steps and preparing formal strategic plans, but not necessarily. The ultimate goal of strategic planning should not be a rigid adherence to a particular process or an instance on the production of plans. Instead, strategic planning should promote wise strategic thought and action on behalf of an organization and its key stakeholders. What steps to follow, in what sequence, and whether or not to prepare formal plans are subsidiary concerns.

As it’s been getting closer to Thanksgiving,I’ve been thinking more and more about the last year. I think I ate Thanksgiving dinner with my left hand. That was just after my little plate collision with my right elbow.

I was about to turn 18.

Earlier in that month of Nov. I had become a rebelutionary, after reading the book by Alex and Brett Harris. I wanted to do hard things. I just wasn’t sure how. How do you search for hard things to do?

Little did I know then that I didn’t have to look but identify the situation. I got many chances to do hard things.

I got to suffer a little pain, colds, the flu and bloody noses, until just breathing was hard.

I got to stand up for what I believe in. Stand up for truth. Even one of those harder things;myself.

I got to gain and lose all friends,as some came from far away and then all moved far away. I was given opportunities for some wonderful good times, and to lay them down when they were done.

I learned that trusting gets you hurt, but to trust anyways;especially a God who loves me.

I had many simple moments in thanks of Him; like water droplets on the grass, like the sound of rain falling, like bright warm sunshine, and the stars at 5:30.

Chances to sing and teach Sunday School. Wonderful times with my pastor’s family.

Having my charge run and hug me when I pick her up from Head Start.

I really can’t complain when I get sugar in my water instead of salt. Having a matched pair of escorts is pretty handy. Even getting patted on the head. Overwhelming opinions and protection.

Good food and a warm house.

The unexpected circumstances that turn into grand adventures.

All in all it’s been an exciting year.

It’s life and I’m thankful for a chance to live it.

Say what they want to hear by not saying it The task of answering the prompt succinctly and directly

Say what they want to hear by not saying it

The task of answering the prompt succinctly and directly may actually be your worst enemy. Read that sentence over if you have to, but it’s true. If you’re writing your personal statement and a part of the prompt asks you to identify a very specific point (i.e.: why you would be a good intellectual fit at the school, etc.), your essay should never directly restate the prompt or come anywhere close to restating it, for that matter. Say it implicitly.

Your written personal accounts should tell exactly why you’d be an excellent fit or why school X’s admissions director wants you without ever explicitly stating why. If you find yourself unable to write out the perfect life item you think will get you into the program you desire, then you need to come up with another example, or you’ll surely end up with the boring and pitifully grammar school-esque “I would be an excellent fit because…” sentence.

This in mind, you should venture off topic a bit if, in the end, you use your prolixity to make a point. Don’t be intimidated at the prospect of going off topic. After all, by simply writing down your thoughts, you’ll come up with more material than you need (a good problem to have) and you may just find your thoughts wandering enough to an even better exampleto address the prompt (another good problem to have). If the prompt asks you to name a time when you overcame adversity, summing it up in one sentence just won’t hack it. Expand your thoughts, including what you learned from your experience, how it has improved you as a person, why that will carry you through the next level of school or life. Never be afraid to delve into details in an important aspect of your life. If an event had a significant enough impact on you for you to be addressing it in a personal statement, you clearly don’t want to leave the reader with any questions because you felt that preemptively answering those questions would have taken your work down the wrong path. Implicitly from all this, the reader will easily see exactly why you feel you’d be a good fit at their program. They’ll be even more impressed when you’ve answered the question clearly and masterfully, but they have to remind themselves what the prompt was in the first place.

Write on!

The Hippie counterculture that started out in the 1960’s was more than just a movement advocating pe

One of my inspirations for William and Rose was a woman I sat beside at a business dinner. She is widowed, well-traveled and wealthy. She was wearing a necklace that could not be ignored, not because it featured valuable gemstones of significant size or value, but because of its sheer boldness. She is not a woman of temerity and neither is her jewelry. She had purchased this necklace at her favorite jewelry store in London on a recent trip. It not only completed her ensemble, it was the centerpiece.

She is a fascinating woman who travels not only world-wide, but is very active in her community in the United States. She knows the latest news and is always looking for new ideas and experiences. She is not the first fascinating woman I have known, my mother and grandmother preceded her, but she is the first woman I knew to use jewelry in such a confident manner. I have met women with at least one diamond ring on each finger, and women who wear their jewelry to elicit comments and compliments from other women and men, but she was the first I knew to wear her jewelry as a personal statement with true style.

Believe it or not we were celebrating Thanksgiving. I told them the story of the first day on this continent that a day,or several days, were set aside for thanks.

We went through the reasons that those people came here and what they suffered in so doing. When we got to the part about their first winter,I gave them their snack;five pieces of corn each. I thought it was a wonderful idea, but they weren’t so impressed. They were starting to get the idea that the Pilgrims didn’t have it so good. They were pretty thankful when I gave them popcorn instead.

Then for fun and games. I didn’t think that wrestling and shooting bows and arrows where such encouraging activities. So,we had mazes, balloons, straws and paper airplanes. They had a blast breaking out of the norm, blowing straw papers, having balloon contests, folding airplanes and generally being chaotic.

Different, yes, but I thought it was fun. Someone even said that it was the best! When I step out of that little room when it’s all over people ask me how it went. I just smile and reply that it was good. All the while thinking,’You have no idea!’
