Of course I am my own favorite DJ. I listen to my own mixes, play them for others, remix a multitude of songs weekly and although my releases are not being played by every DJ or radio station, the respect by many is there. You should also know I didn’t get into this for the status just the respect and the music.

One of the DJ standards

DJ culture has long been the backbone of nightlife: if you have the right DJ spinning it can be the difference between a lot of folks sitting around talking over drinks or crowds rushing in to hear the best music-regardless of the atmosphere (although flashing lights are nice).

My list is just that-my opinion, lumped in with the millions of others. Only consider these guys not just because I say so but I have heard them all spin LIVE and I have at least one or more of their mixes. Ahh, now we separate ourselves from all the other bloggers online. Yes indeed!

DJ Erick Morillo is a constant in dance music the world over. He claims NJ as home, runs one of the most respected super club brands in the world in NYC known as Pacha, and does residencies in Miami (where I hear he has been living for a while), Ibiza (THE dance music capital of the world) and endless other places. He also has a hot dance label, Subliminal and one of the most annoying dance anthems ever, “I Like To Move It” under the name Reel 2 Real. He’s earned the credible title of a top five DJ on my list of DJs.

Geçtiğimiz ay geçici bir süre için bir GSM operatörünün taşeron firmasında çalıştım. Bu firma, operatör bir baz istasyonu kurmak istediğinde, lokasyonu sıfırdan alıp istasyon çalışıncaya kadar ki işleri yapıyor. Ben ise kabulden görevliydim. Baz istasyonu kurulduktan sonra bunun tedarikçi firma ve operatör firmaya kabulunden sorumluydum. Ancak yaklaşık iki hafta çalıştıktan sonra bu işi bıraktım. Ancak bu işten kalma bir alışkanlığım oldu. Artık sokakta yürürken hep bina çatılarına bakar oldum. Meğerse etrafımızda ne kadar çok baz istasyonu varmış. Ne zaman kafamı kaldırsam bir baz istasyonu gözüme çarpıyor.

Her ne kadar halk karşı olsa da operatör istediği her yere baz istasyonu dikiyor. Bazı yerlerde halk tepkisi oluyor. Bu yerler için önceden önlem alınıyor. Ancak bazen önlem alamadan halk galeyana gelebiliyor. İşçileri linçe kadar giden bir takım olaylar oluyor. O zamanlarda işçileri polis kurtarmak zorunda kalıyor. Ama eninde sonunda oraya baz istasyonu dikiliyor. Siz gece uyurken aynı işçiler gelip baz istasyonunu kuruyor. Etrafına da bir duvar örülüyor. O kadar. Siz dikilmedi sanıyorsunuz.

Baz istasyonu kurabilmek için devletin bazı kuralları var. Bunlardan biri baz  istasyonunun görüş alanının yaklaşık 10 metre önünde yerleşim olmaması. Bunu sağlarsanız baz istasyonuna izin veriliyor. Her ne kadar araştırmasam da, şirkette baz istasyonunun çok zararlı olmadığı ve sadece dört cep telefonunun yaptığı etkiyi yaptığı söylendi. Ama siz yine de karşı apartmanınıza falan bir bakın. Bu uzun antenlerden var mı? Kim bilir belki de zararlıdır…

This square, where the strees Calle Eduardo Dato and Calle Santa Engracia meet, gives its name to one of the most traditional neighbourhoods of Madrid, born in the early 19th century outside the walls built by Phillip IV, where those who couldn’t afford paying the rent inside the city built their homes. In the square you can find the Museum Andén Cero (a former Metro station that preserves all its charm) and a bandstand that stages concerts.

I visited Odakyu’s Agris Seijo rental farm in Seijogakuenmae in Setagaya and was prepared to be charmed by a community vegetable farm built by a rail company above their tracks. Three years ago, the Odakyu corporation rebuilt the station, undergrounded the railway, and used some of the new land to promote urban farming. But I left feeling somewhat strange that reclaimed land could be gated and restricted. Although it is the rail company’s property, I think they missed a huge opportunity to create a great space for the neighborhood.

The farm is entered through a two story building that has a plant store on the first floor, spilling into the sidewalk, and a club room on the second floor. On entering the building, I learned that the garden was gated, and that no photographs were allowed. With my Tokyo University of Agriculture business card, I was handed a visitor’s pass. Two explanations were given about the no photography policy: customers would be concerned about their privacy, and photographers might misrepresent the photos they take. Please note that all the photos in this post were all taken from public roadways outside the gates.

Once inside, I discovered that this Agris Seijo t has 303 rental plots, ranging in price between 5,500 and 14,500 yen per month ($60 to $175) depending on size and sunlight. 70% of the plots are being used, and the farm is organized in two seasons, with a fallow period during winter. Many of the customers are first time vegetable growers, and there are classes and staff to help them.

Some of what I observed: an elderly man harvesting giant sweet potatoes. Attractive netting with metallic strips to deter birds and insects. Some very attractive plots with broccoli, rainbow chard, carrots, celery, lettuce, salty leaf, peppers, basil, cauliflower, onion, eggplant, daikon radish.

Clearly burying the tracks below grade reduces railway noise for the neighbors and adds soil and plants which benefits the environment. There are benefits for customers and neighbors. Yet, I was struck by how empty the farm was during my weekday visit, and wondered why only 70% of the plots are rented after three years of operation. I also wonder if the customers or the railway company owner feels more special or important because of the gated aspect of the garden. In a city that is remarkably safe, I cannot imagine need for keeping people out.

This wealthy project reminds me of the community garden I observed in Tsukushima. There, neighbors invested great time and effort in making beautiful spaces on an existing concrete river embankment. It appears that each gardener is expressing their own passions and perhaps competing with their neighbors. At no cost to the local government, neighbors have beautified dead space which can now be enjoyed by anyone. The Tsukushima community garden is completely accessible 24/7 and shows how ordinary people can create a great public space.

From the rental farm, I noticed that the new Seijogakuenmae station had a roof garden. Making my way above the first two floors of retail, and a third floor of parking, I reached the roof garden on the fourth floor. It was nearly vacant, apart from two high school age boys and a woman sitting alone. Surrounded by restaurants, maybe the roof garden is appreciated more during dinner hours.

I realize that creating great urban spaces is about more than money and design. Empty spaces provide little human benefit. It appears that wealthy neighborhoods are more concerned with restricting access and remaining exclusive, yet the results are dead spaces. Seijogakuenmae, with more action in its parking lot than its sidewalks and roof top parks, reminded me of the privatized spaces of the United States.

Lastly, there is one more image from Odakyu that may surprise foreigners. Historically, throughout the 20th century, private Japanese rail lines played a critical role in developing its cities: railways fed into railway-owned department stores, and some of these corporations branched out into other business including developing suburban housing. Odakyu stations all feature convenience stores, owned not surprisingly by Odakyu.

Brantford, Ontario, hosts a number of homegrown media outlets: newspaper, radio and television are all covered. Its proximity to the city of Hamilton, Ontario means that it also receives much of its media from there, along with Kitchener and Toronto, which is about an hour’s drive away. Brantford also shares its media with some of the surrounding locales in the Grand River area.

Print Media

Brantford’s local newspaper is the Brantford Expositor. Besides Brantford itself, the Expositor serves Paris, Buford and the rest of Brant County. Founded in 1852 the newspaper is a proud city tradition, having been a part of the community for well over a century and a half. It celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2002. It is published six days a week (Monday through Saturday) and has been publishing continuously, without interruption, for all of its 150 years of history.

Radio Stations

The city boasts three radio stations. The oldest of these is CKPC (AM). It was founded in 1923, and has been serving Brantford and the Brant area ever since. Found on frequency 1380, CKPC (AM) currently plays oldies. The station also provides local news as well as sports information as part of its format. The station is notable as in 1940 Florence Dolph Buchanan, daughter of the station’s previous owner Cyrus Dolph, took over ownership and operation of the station. She was the first woman in Canadian history to own and operate a radio station.

In 1949, CKPC (AM) extended to the FM frequency, founding CKPC (FM). Originally it simply provided a simulcast of the CKPC AM station, however it has been running independent programming since 1961. It currently plays adult contemporary music. Its tagline, like that of its predecessor is “Simply the best.” It is currently located at frequency 92.1

The third radio station serving the Brantford area is CWFC-FM. It is a religious station and primarily plays Christian music. It is at frequency 93.9 and calls itself “Power 93.9.”

Television Stations

While much of Brantford, Ontario’s television is provided by cities Hamilton, Kitchener and Toronto, Brantford does have one television station of its own. This station is a local community channel which is provided by Rogers TV. It is cable channel 20 from Rogers Cable.

Movies

Aside from media serving the local area, the city has also made an impact on media serving a larger audience. Many movies have had scenes shot within the city, as well as some television shows. An example of a television series which has been shot in Brantford was the episode “Dr. Long Ball” of the joint American/Canadian effort “Due South.”

Recent films shot in Brantford include Weirdsville, shot in 2006. The video game based horror film Silent Hill was also shot in downtown Brantford in 2005. Other films shot in Brantford, Ontario include Welcome to Mooseport and Where the Truth Lies, both of which were filmed at the Brantford Airport.

Извод: Когато пазарувате, било то онлайн или на място в магазина, винаги си отваряйте очите! А ако вече знаете какво искате да си купите, проверете ‘предполагаемия’ продукт дали всъщност е искания от Вас.

06 Nov 2009 Commuters at West Ham station were shocked on Thursday night when, instead of the usual messages about delays, the sounds of a couple having sexual intercourse was broadcast over the tannoy

Passengers at West Ham station in east London heard a couple’s lovemaking antics being relayed over platform loudspeakers during the evening rush hour on Thursday.

“The noises heard by passengers were not from within our station. We believe they were a result of some sort of interference with our public address system,” a spokesman for Transport for London said on Friday. “It certainly wasn’t coming from our staff.”

He said the station’s public address system worked on radio waves and somebody must have been broadcasting on the same wavelength. He said staff had turned off the loudspeakers as soon as they realised what was going on.

But passengers had different interpretations.

“It was definitely a couple doing it there and then,” Laura O’Connor told the London Evening Standard newspaper. “He was grunting loudly and she sounded like she was having a great time. The driver must have heard it, too, as the doors stayed open longer than usual.”

Beschäftigt man sich ausschließlich mit dem Funkempfang (SWL = Short Wave Listener), so reicht ein Grundwissen an Technik, Ausbreitungsbedingungen usw. Dazu ist keine Prüfung notwendig.

Seit dem Inkrafttreten des neuen Amateurfunkgesetzes Anfang 1999 mit der dazugehörigen Verordnung gibt es auch die Möglichkeit des Erwerbs einer “Einsteigerlizenz”.

Die Amateurfunker z. B. aus Amstetten stehen beim Lernen gerne mit Rat und Tat zur Seite.
