Like Tag Heuer, Breitling was the end of 1800 he founded (1884) in the city of St. Imer, Switzerland, Leon Breitling. Breitling had left the company deals with the objective of creating high-precision chronographs for the explicit use for industrial and scientific purposes. It was his belief that this marketSector is not represented so far used.

Unfortunately, Leon died in 1914, found about the beginning of World War I and his son visionary, Gaston. Powered Gaston, an aviation enthusiast, the pilots of time has not a precision instrument for the rhythm in their planes, and many had lower clocks. To take advantage of this finding, Gaston creates the first wristwatch chronograph and handed out to drivers, who would become the first Breitling watches ever produced.

SinceYears later, the business flourished, and in 1932, son of Willy Gaston took over and negotiated an exclusive contract with the RAF, it strengthens the relationship between Breitling watches and the manufacturing industry. For the year 1952 would continue its focus with the release of air Breitling Navitimer. This ingenious features a unique "navigation computer" capable of processing all the necessary calculations flight plan might be fills a need that only to see and quickly engaging the samewith between the pilots around the world.

I’ve been working in the chip shop for 2 days now. It sells burgers, steaks, fish, chicken and chips. It’s attached to a butcher cum deli /prepared foods shop, and makes everything fresh from scratch.

I work 5 hours a day from 11.00 to 4.00 with a 30 minute lunch break. I can have a cup of tea or coffee whenever I want. The uniform is simply black, my favourite color.

The people are nice and I am learning a lot.

The takeaway/fish and chip business is a lot simpler than the deli/everything available right away all day business.

Still, business is slow all around.

It just feels good to have a job and learn as I go. They only had three applicants for this cooks job whereas they had 100 or so for the counter hand job. My fish fryer’s course gave me the confidence to apply for the position in the first place. The interview was the easiest I had ever done and I am glad I changed direction on the job hunting front.

Property prices are dropping noticeably now, but it makes no difference as there’s no credit available.

I am now astonished at the changes that have occurred on this small island since we came here in 2007. It’s like day and night. People say they are only surprised at the speed of the economic drop not at the fact it happened.

That figures!

What’s next?

Who knows!

How can this happen?
My poor child, stolen from her youth,
What nobody knew and dared to think.
She was savagely tied up, drugged and tortured.
Away from her family, she gave up hope of returning home.
But she struggled to live and someday be free again.

Time was not on her side.
By Springtime she was a shadow of herself.
She would never see the light of day,
But she still had her feelings, and her dreams.
She was a soul, a wretched soul, but a soul to be restored one day.

We are complicit, but it’s complicated
How many pats of butter, licks of heaven, dollops of sweet cream have we had this year?
How we love our steaks, sausages, liver and lean burgers with the juice dripping out.
How can we eat the blood of another, our beloved, our forsaken animal friends, nightly.

We cannot simplify our lives until we stop our lies
How can we change the destiny of human beings in our time?
How can we get back to a peaceful society of farmers, artists and dreamers?
How long will it be until drugs and disease and destitute people are not the feature story?

What you can do…
1. Choose organic for meat, eggs, dairy and produce. This supports an end to suffering, and the healing of planet Earth
2. Eat less animal foods, and chew well, thinking about the true cost of your meal
3. Discover the joys of plant-based eating for health, environment and peace
3. Be skeptical of a government that sends your children off to war to protect its cash flow
4. Be wary of those choosing to make a buck as you seek to balance your life, destroying our health, our planet, and our peace.
Choose Nature…

This hails from Rube’s Steakhouse. My husband discovered it.

Now I have to wonder who could possibly eat 54 ounces of steak in one sitting. Just thinking about it makes me feel slightly ill.

Rube’s is one of Tom’s favorite places, but he has never had the BellyBuster. Or, at least, he has never admitted it to me.

Personally, I will not be going to Rube’s any time soon. Why? I’ll tell you why. Because Rube’s is one of those cook-your-own-steak restaurants.

This is a concept I just do not understand. If I am going out to eat, I don’t think I should be expected to cook my own food. The whole point of going out to eat is not cooking your own food. If I wanted to cook a steak, I could do that at my house for a lot less money.

On a weekly basis, I will make it a point to meet up with Jack and spend our day exploring places and visiting unique restaurants to satisfy our passion as food fanatics. So this week, we visited one of Singapore’s icon – the Singapore Flyer and patronized a bar cum restaurant called “O’Learys Sportsbar and Grill” for a quiet lunch.

I thought that perhaps it might be crowded with tourists who are taking rides on the flyer. However it seems that the previous crisis indeed left an impact which affected the few restaurants and shops there. Anyway I was a tad glad as we prefer to be left alone when out on a date. x) Just so lucky that they had a function later in the evening so we had an estimated 3 hours before the bar closed to the public.

As Jack holds the member card for that restaurant, we were able to enjoy countless promotions like one for one main course, free mocktails, etc. The restaurant was decorated according to sports theme. Pictures of sportsmen and different types of sports were framed up on every walls with a tinge of vintage feel. It made me feel at ease as I came from a sports background and it was nostalgic to see the pictures of sports and the famous teams around me.

The menu was varied and everything looked delicious!Well maybe I was starving then but the taste did not disappoint me at all! I ordered a Salmon steak while Jack ordered Striploin Steak as I could not make up my mind which to have, so he offered to take one of my 3 choices.

The service was great with scrumptious food. I’ll definitely go back for a chill-out next time
Unfortunately their range of non-alcoholic drinks are rather limited as it is a sportsbar. But it is a good place for a friday night drink with friends.

Till next time! See ya!

Darla Huie ran a great restaurant, Dizzy’s Grill and Bistro, in Benton for a number of years. It was classy, beautifully decorated, yet still had an air that welcomed the casual diner. It was perfect for meeting someone for a business lunch or taking your bride out for a romantic evening.

When I heard last summer that she had decided to move her establishment to Little Rock, I was excited. I knew Saline County residents weren’t looking forward to losing it, but working in downtown Little Rock and North Little Rock made it good news for my co-workers and me.

Huie and staff opened their doors Nov. 3 as Dizzy’s Gypsy Bistro at 201 Commerce St., where the old Vermillion Grill was located. It is a great-looking place, complete with a new vertical neon sign on the corner and an outside eating area up front.

The result is a good one. A menu already diverse with soups, salads, sandwiches, pasta, burgers and great desserts has been expanded with steaks and seafood.

My wife, Nancy, and I met a friend for dinner there Nov. 6, eating on the veranda or whatever they have chosen to call the open-air area. I had to try the steak and they delivered — the prime rib was perfect. Nancy loved her pasta and Joyce liked her salmon.

Last week, I met a work associate-friend for lunch and we both enjoyed “The Wedge” sandwich and fries. Excellent.

The food is wonderful, the atmosphere is great, the staff is friendly and the service is good. What more do you want from a restaurant?

One more thing: Dizzy’s Gypsy Bistro is close enough to reach on foot, which is good for my health.

This adaptation of London Broil is a festive and different take on a British steak dinner.

In honor of the oft-overlooked English holiday, I decided to reinvent a regular favorite dish for a cleverly themed dinner.

I love London Broil. In my opinion, it’s the tastiest cut of beef you can find at the grocery store, and it’s so cheap you can have a wonderful steak dinner without the heavy price tag. (2 large steaks were $4.37!)

This variation blends the rich flavor of beef with a creamy, almost sweet cheese sauce. Although I served it over pasta noodles, Hubby and I both agreed after eating it that it would be just as fantastic served alongside crisp steamed asparagus, and I look forward to trying it that way the next time I make it. And did I mention it was cooked and on the table in 25 minutes flat?

Saute onions and red peppers in butter before adding steak sauce.

Begin by turning oven to BROIL setting. Place a saucepan over MEDIUM burner heat. In bottom of pan, melt 2 tablespoons butter or margarine (cheap kind is fine). While butter melts and oven heats, dice a small red pepper and 3 green scallions. Add to pot and stir occasionally with wooden spoon until tender.

Score cuts along the steaks and add oil/seasoning.

Meanwhile, use a sharp knife to score three or four deep cuts on either side of 2 thick London Broil beef steaks. Place steaks over a wire rack in a large, broil-safe pan.

Sprinkle each side of steaks with salt, pepper and garlic powder. Brush or spoon a small amount of oil (any kind) over each side of steaks, being sure to focus on allowing some of the oil to enter the scored crevices.

Place the steaks in the oven as soon as oven has reached appropriate broiling heat. By this time, the peppers and onions should have cooked down a little bit on the stovetop. Add 3 or 4 tablespoons steak sauce to the pepper mixture and stir well.

Stir alfredo sauce into the pepper mixture.

Next, pour a 16-ounce jar of generic white alfredo sauce into the pot and stir until all ingredients are well-blended and sauce has turned a light orange color. Reduce heat to LOW and continue to stir occasionally to prevent skin from forming over the top of the sauce.

Slice cooked beef on a diagonal into strips.

Allow steaks to broil approximately 10 minutes per side, or until a solid medium or medium-well beef temperature is achieved. (This might a little more done than London Broil is often served, but if you’re serving this over pasta or vegetables, you really want to avoid any standing blood that will drip into the other meal components.)

Remove finished steaks from broiler and cut slices (about 1/2″ thick) with a large knife on an angle, beginning at one corner of the square steaks. It is great if there is still a small amount of juice or pinkness in the meat–a little bit will enhance the flavor without making a big mess.

Bet you've never had London Broil like this!

Arrange the thin beef slices on a plate (or over cooked mostaccioli noodles) and drizzle the cream sauce liberally over the beef. Serve immediately.

Savor the sweet flavors of the meat and sauce as you ponder history and toast the “last honest man to walk into Parliament.”

The year is vague, I had been a Professional Disc Jockey for a few years in the early 90’s and it was one of the hottest summers on record in the “City Of Brotherly Love”. I received a call one afternoon from a friend of mine who owned a Taxi Cab service in downtown Philly, it turns out he had recently lost a driver and was in need of someone who could handle a converted police cruiser in the heavy and unforgiving traffic of downtown Philly….. I agreed of course, just the small matter of attaining my Philadelphia Cab License…. No problem.
Several days later I walked into the Taxi Dispatch Garage, the exam had been nothing more than a simply dispatched task ( nothing to write home about ). The garage was not a dissapointment, it had the feel of an “anything can happen” type of environment, taken straight out of a DeNiro film. I greeted my friend, took possession of my meter and jumped into my “New” Taxi complete with bullet proof shield which when operated by the toggle switch in the dash would slide into its own compartment dividing the front and rear of the car…. VERY HANDY… AND VERY COOL.
50 MPH on tight multi-laned city streets packed with drivers straight out of the cast from Death Race xxxx, flying past historic locations such as; Independence Hall and The Rodin Museum….. And I get paid for this….!?
I’ve got the Taxi on a 24 hour lease, but I can only manage 12 hours my first day, Still I manage to bring in a healthy profit and I’m motivated to enter the fray once again the next morning. Yes, I would take the Taxi home as an additional vehicle and basically just drive it for everything I needed to do ( you can park anywhere with virtually no issue )… Pretty nice.
It’s 1pm the next day and I’m outside a popular lunch spot on Delaware Avenue waiting for a fare, I stepped out of the Cab to make a call on a nearby payphone ( yes….. It was that long ago ) when suddenly from around the corner of the building, two feet in front of me.. emerges a Gunman wearing a bandana as a mask, dark sunglasses and a dark baseball cap, gun drawn & pointing directly between my eyes………..
——-more tomorrow.

How delicious does this look for a quickie weeknight meal?

This is seriously the best ham I have ever eaten. I am sure of this because I do not like ham, not one little bit. But I LOVED this when I made it last night.

I think the reason I generally stay away from ham steaks is because after serving them right under my nose for years at Cracker Barrel, the first thing I notice about them is that sort of briney, fatty, overcured smell (and flavor) they so often come with. Ugh. I hate that smell.

Also, because I’ve never been much of a ham eater, I had no idea how to prepare ham, either, so I’ve generally stayed away from making it for my family in an attempt to save face in case I botched it.

This giant ham center cost me only $2.67!

But in this economy, I decided that any meat that sells for under $3.00 a pound and isn’t ground burger is worthy of revisiting, even if I don’t think I like it. This time, it was SO

Start ham steaks browning in butter while glaze simmers.

worth my while, and the prepareation couldn’t have been simpler! Oh, and the finished product had not even a HINT of that sour, salty smell or flavor I feared going in.

Begin by melting 2 or 3 tablespoons butter/margarine in a deep skillet over medium heat. Do not let heat in skillet ever exceed medium to keep glaze from sticking or burning later.

Slice a 1-lb. center-cut ham steak into desired number of pieces and lay flat in

Spicy mustard, apricot jelly and pineapple are all you need!

skillet.

Into a small saucepan, drain the juice from an 8-ounce can of pineapple slices (reserve the actual

It will take the glaze ingredients a few minutes to break down together.

pineapple rings). To the juice, add 2 tablespoons jelly (I used apricot but apple would work) and 1/2 tablespoon spicy mustard. Stir the three ingredients over medium heat until smooth (this may take a few minutes).

Meanwhile, turn the buttered ham steaks as needed. Once the glaze is smooth, lay the actual pineapple slices down in the pan with the ham and pour the contents of the saucepan over the steaks and pineapple.

Keep skillet heat at medium. Turn often and allow to simmer for several minutes, or until ham begins to have a golden tint to it.

Pour the glaze over the ham and pineapple and let simmer.

Serve ham steaks immediately topped with the pineapple rings. Spoon additional glaze over the steaks if desired.

A cheap can of bean salad and a couple microwaved sweet potatoes turn this simple creation into an attractive and satisfying meal! Our whole dinner, sides included, cost less than six dollars to make and tasted like a million bucks! The ham was SO juicy and tender…mmm!

Deadlines are looming, time is precious. Time to fall back on the obligatory meat post…

About an hour from Buenos Aires’ main bus terminal, you see the urban sprawl finally peter out into the mythical green land of the Pampas. Cows – blissfully unaware that Argentines consume more beef per capita than any other country – grow fat on their own terms. Then we grow fat during marathon asado sessions: an Atkins-permitted orgy with huge slabs of heavily-salted red meat, garnished with fleshy chicken thighs and a couple of cherry tomatoes. Throw in a few bottles of Malbec, and you’ve got yourself a pretty damaging, yet delicious, weekend getaway.

Sure, you already know that you can shop online for great deals on clothing, electronics, footwear,

Sure, you already know that you can shop online for great deals on clothing, electronics, footwear, DVDs and a million other products. But were you aware that you can also use the internet to find delicious food items that make great gifts as well?

Well, you can, and it’s really easy and fun. These are perfect items for a coworker’s birthday, or if you need to bring something tasty to a potluck dinner with friends. Or, indulge and treat yourself! The only downside? Your mouth is sure to water incessantly while you browse through all the delicious items. Here’s a few we recommend.

Since most people don’t have a butcher’s knowledge of meat cuts, buying them online takes the guesswork out of it and ensures a great result, plus retailers generally package up the meat nicely so you don’t even need to wrap it up! Steaks and filet mignon , specifically make wonderful gifts as long as the recipient isn’t a vegan or vegetarian but can be a bit pricey. If you want to spend a little less, pick out an assortment of burgers or a burger sampler.

Just as tasty as steaks/burgers but slightly more healthy, you can’t go wrong with a nice ham or flavored turkey breast. Both make great meals on those cool autumn nights. Or if you’re looking for something a little more sophisticated, try smoked duck.

If you really aren’t crazy about gifting someone with meat, there are plenty of gift baskets out there too. Some of these can also run a bit expensive but it’s not difficult to find one that fits your budget, and several retailers offer specific themed baskets for birthdays or holidays, complete with wines, cheeses and other great snacks.

For those of you with a sweet tooth, we haven’t forgotten about you. Cheesecake is still king of the mail-order dessert and with the variety of flavor choices available, it’s easy to see why. Throw these in the freezer when you get them and they’ll be good to go whenever you’re ready to serve or gift them. We also recommend cookie baskets for something simple or biscotti , which can be served not only as a dessert but as the perfect compliment to that morning cup of coffee.

Happy shopping…and happy eating!
