So yes, I bit the “we’ll take on unnecessary risk to our vision in trade for long, thick, luscious eyelashes” bug.  What kind of beauty junkie would I be if vanity isn’t my top priority? Wait, don’t answer that. Let me clarify that I’m actually using Bimatoprost, one of Latisse’s generic. Bimatoprost is the actual ingredient in Latisse; it’s what makes your lashes grow long and thick. And if you look at both of their labels, it’s the same amount -  .03%.

Before we go into the review, I want to go into a brief class about the drug and why it’s labeled for different use. Bimatoprost is originally used for patients with Glaucoma, which according to Wikipedia is an eye disease or disorder that is defined as a characteristic optic neuropathy, or disease of the optic nerve, possibly, if untreated, leading to damage of the optic disc of the eye and resultant visual field loss due to lack of communication between the retina and the brain, which can lead to blindness. When glaucoma patients saw their lashes grow long as a side effect of the bimatoprost drops, the world of cosmetics and pharmaceutical companies saw dollar signs. Cha-ching. In the world of pharmacology and medicine, you’re not allowed to prescribe a drug if its not for its intended use.  One of the ways a drug gets introduced as a different/new treatment, it has to be FDA approved – and that takes a lot of money for clinical studies, research etc. So Allergan, the same pharmaceutical company that brought you Botox and Juviderm, capitalized it by putting out the money and making it an exclusive brand, Latisse.  So you’re paying the 1000% markup because of its brand. Why can’t we they sell it as a generic? Well, a drug has to be out for at least 5 years before the generic can be introduced into the market for the same treatment – don’t quote me on that though. But if you’re lucky enough, some doctors will prescribe Lumigan (the generic) for your eyelid hairs.

Ok, onto the review. I’m about 5 weeks into using bimatoprost, and I can probably tell a very slight difference in length and volume. Let me start by telling you the kind of brush I used to lengthen the use of bottle. It’s an eyeliner brush I got over the counter – I forgot where.  But if you’re familiar with MAC, it’s the #209 brush.

Using this brush allowed me to apply several layers right into my lash line, top and bottom, as well as, extending my eyebrows from ONE drop.  This is how I did it, let me repeat it, this is how I did it. I’m not a medical expertise, please follow directions as labeled.

In conclusion, I really like it. Out of all the side effects, I only had slight irritation/redness my first 2 weeks.  Some don’t see results until 8 weeks, and I saw some by week 5. I’ll definitely keep this topic updated until the end of 4 months.

Application

Before you start make sure your lashes are completely clean and oil free.

Select the lashes that will work best on you and thing about the finish you want, natural, glam, flared at the corner….

Choose how long you want the lashes to last, if only for1-2 days Duo lash glue (£8.50) is an outstanding glue for easy application and removal. Or for more of a semi permanent lash (up to 4 weeks) use Eyelure’s individual eyelash glue and remover which is included with the lashes.

Keep the eye you are working on closed throughout application.

Start from the corner of the lashes and work towards the middle

Once the lashes are totally dry you can apply the rest of your make up but be extra careful not to pull or rub the lashes out of place.

Sponge Cake Coklat

Bahan: A:

Telur 6 butir

Gula Pasir 100 gr

Emulsifier 15 gr (SP/TBM)

Bahan B:

Tepung terigu 80 gr

maizena 30 gr

coklat bubuk 30 gr

Pasta coklat 1 sdm

Bahan C:

Butter 100 gr cairkan

step by step sponge cake

1. Ini bahan-bahannya ya…

2. Rekomendasi dari resepnya… pakai loyang ukuran 22 cm. Loyang di gambar diatas adalah loyang diameter 26 cm dan pakai 1,5 x resep ini. Loyang dialasi kertas roti ya… dan tidak perlu dioles margarine lagi.

3. Panaskan oven. Masukkan telur + gula + emulsifier (Bahan A) ke dalam wadah

4. Kocok dengan kecepatan tinggi

5. Sampai kental dan berjejak. Kalo diangkat kocokannya, bentuk pucuk adonannya seperti jambul.  Jika adonan sudah kental maka Sponge Cake bisa dipastikan akan sukses.

6. Masukkan  terigu+maizena+coklat bubuk (Bahan B) , bila teknik aduk balik tidak sukses, kocok dengan mixer dengan kecepatan rendah.

7. Terakhir masukkan butter / margarine yang sudah di cairkan (Bahan C), aduk rata. Pastikan cairan butter/ margarine teraduk rata dan tidak ada yg tertinggal di wadah adonan paling dasar. Dan tuang ke loyang yang sudah di alasi kertas roti.

8. Masukkan ke dalam oven

9. Tes tusuk dilakukan dalam oven utk memastikan kue sudah matang. Di gambar kebanyakan nusuk.. soalnya ada koki cilik yang ikutan nusukin setelah kuenya matang.

## Tambahan ya…

Sponge Cake ini bisa diubah, jika menginginkan cake vanila, ganti coklat bubuk dengan susu bubuk dan pasta coklat dengan vanila extract.

Phase 2, Step 2-

In the last installment of my Step-by-Step series I discussed getting your feet wet by blogging, contributing to some smaller websites, or writing for residual income sites like EHow and Infobarrel.

In this next step we’re assuming that you’ve gotten some good practice for formal writing, you’re feeling confident, and you’re read for the big leagues…not quite the big leagues but close enough for the moment.

Now get out there and show ‘em how its done!

By this point you should already have some publications in mind (if not hop over and read this post).  For even more on where to go hunting for your first clip you can read a previous post on promising opportunities for beginners.

Once you have your sites set on a publication it’s time to consider which route to take – the “complete manuscript route” or the “query route”.  Both can be challenging.  For beginners it may seem less daunting to go the “complete manuscript route”; since a query package calls for clips that you may not have.

In the case of sending out a complete manuscript you have to be sure that you’ve completed these steps:

• Set your sights on a publication who’s subject mater you feel comfortable tackling.
• Study at least 3 back issues for their tone, and to avoid duplicating a recently run topic.
• Pick an idea that fits their intended audience.
• Review the publications writer’s guidelines and editorial calendar, if they have them.
• Write an accurate, engaging, and error free manuscript that fits the publication – in terms on word count, tone, sidebars. etc.
• Finally, you must write a well executed cover letter (for more on the cover letter check back soon).

A query package is similar to the cover letter, except a cover letter is written to accompany a complete manuscript and a query is written before to actual article is written, describing tot he editor in question an idea that you have.  If you don’t have any clips can you still send in a query?  Of course!  there’s no rule otherwise.  But, it may be easier to sell something you’ve already written as opposed to an idea, without some practice selling yourself and your writing first.

It’s easy to procrastinate and get hung up on this step, but no writing gets into print without first pitching.  My suggestion?  Write a couple queries and cover letters for yourself first, with no intention of sending them out, and give yourself a deadline.  Ask a friend or family member to hold you to that deadline.  Maybe even hand over that $50 you were going to spend on a handbag until you finish it.  Once you have it written without bloodshed it’ll be easier to write the next one (you may have to implement the same $50 dollar routine to get you moving on mailing out the real cover letter).

To be able to access the SQL Azure instance you need to get the Management Studio. The new installer is really a pain and have taking me some hours to find out how to install using it the new improved installer.

The installation does not look as it have been doing before, you now get a whole lot of options, documentation, missing information and the lack of the management studio install option…

What can you expect when you download a file called “SQLManagementStudio_x86_ENU?
 - Dont expect a SQL Manangement Studio installation 

It is for our “convenience” located under the “New SQL server…” install option

The installation design doesn’t make any sense to me but the problem is solved… thanks for the new really confusing installation experience Microsoft!

After running it, go to installation and press “New SQL Server stand-alone…” even if you like me already have an instance.

I doubt that the experience is this bad if you do it from scratch, but doing it with a old SQL 2005 Management Studio Express installation is not possible. Also I think my named instance confused things. I do usually not install named instances on my local machine, but somehow I got this one, probably from the Visual Studio installation

1. In Visual Studio 2010 create a new project, choose Cloud Service and then double click the Enable Windows Azure Tools

The Windows Azure SDK requires Internet Information Services 7.0 with ASP.NET Application Development components installed.

To solve this on Windows 7 and Vista go to programs and features

Hint: Press: “Windows Key” and write in “programs and” (then you will see the right start menu item) and if you are fast on the keyboard this is always a quicker way.

Then, in “programs and features” press “Turn windows features on or off”

Check the boxes for ASP.NET and CGI under Internet Information Services/Application Development Features (the rest will be checked automatically, at least in windows 7)

Press OK, and then restart the Windows Azure Tools installation from step 4, if the window in Visual Studio 2010 is white, you can close the active “tab” as the window with the download button is behind. Then find the link “If your download does not start after 30 seconds, click this link: Start download.” To start the download again, and press again run and cross your fingers.

1. If you manage to come here, you will click trough the installation, and also close down Visual Studio 2010 to be able to continue the installation.
2. If the setup was successful you need to start Visual Studio 2010 again but do it in elevated mode (run as administrator) as you cannot test the website without it.
3. Sadly you need to create a new project (I call mine CloudService2), so choose again to create a new cloud service project and then choose the most appropriate version for you. I will stick with the C# “ASP.NET Web Role” but feel free to use something else (but you are on your own)
4. Now your project is created and you get up these files in the solution explorer
   

1. Right click on Roles and add “New web role project” and then ASP.NET Web Role in the appropriate language for you… I name it “WebRole1″ and then press Add
   

    

2. Now things looks a bit more familiar and you can see the new WebRole1 in the solution explorer:
   

    

3. If the default.aspx is not opened already open it up and in HTML view add some text like: “This page is running Windows Azure”

    

4. Press F5 to run & debug the project, then you should get up this one:

Thanks so much for posting your technique, I am currently working on my first painting and have been doing exactly what you’ve done here. i think i did do something wrong though, a friend of mine said to do a light wash over the entire piece ,but I think it just confused me. Anyhow , why do you not put more detail in the underpainting, are you modeling further with your glazes?

I’m not sure what the light wash is for, either.  I’m assuming you’re using acrylic paints, which dry to a hard finish and so allow you to paint a wash on top of them.  I use gouache, and a wash would scrub off whatever was painted underneath.  So, I start my paintings with washes and build up to opaque brushstrokes. A wash is paint made transparent by adding water.  A glaze is paint made transparent by adding a medium—for acrylic, glazing medium; for oil paint, linseed oil and varnish—or glazing medium.

I do an underpainting to block in and organize big areas of light and dark.  I long ago found out it’s too complicated for me to figure out light and dark and color all at the same time.  There’s no point in me putting lots of detail in the underpainting, because I’m only going to paint the same details on top with opaque paint.  In fact, to discourage myself from getting into details while underpainting, I use an oversized brush.

Seriously, people. I am about to rock your socks off.

Say hello to Chicken Barley Stew. I based this pretty much on a recipe in a magazine. I think it might have been out of Clean Eating. I don’t remember it’s in the big pile o’ magazines in my living room floor. Regardless, socks – be prepared to be rocked.

Take an acorn squash. Cut it into slices and put it in the oven. Salt and pepper. 10 minutes. Then flip. Until soft. While that’s going…

A tablespoon or so of butter in a big ol’ pot.

Followed by a diced onion.

When the onions are soft, drain and rinse 2 cans of black eyed peas. Add them to the pot.

Have your helper measure out a cup of barley

And add it to the pot too.

I added a box of chicken broth. I ended up adding about another cup or so over the course of the cooking. The barley is really thirsty.

Then we added the meat off a rotisserie chicken that the helper had shredded while I was getting it started.

Thyme and basil. About a teaspoon of each. Salt and pepper too.

When the squash was done, peel and chunk it. Add it to the soup.

It cooked for a little while – I straightened up the kitchen and watched the liquid level. And then it was ready.

And it was amazing.

Don’t let this scare you away if you don’t want to use the squash. It would be just as good without it. Next time, I’ll probably leave the squash out. Or add more. It just didn’t seem to add that much. The recipe called for potatoes and carrots. I don’t think I’ll add them either.

So nice on a cool fall evening. You need some of this stew in your life. Amen.

I am a Pedestrian.

I prefer the sidewalk under my feet, the wind in my face, the exquisite scents in the air, the sounds rushing past my ears, and the completeness of walking.

I walk everyone. I walk back and forth to work five days a week. This is a thirty minute walk when it’s cold and forty when it’s warmer. I walk the Meewasin Trail for fun. The river is intoxicating every day of the year. I walk to the Farmer’s Market, to nearby shops, to Eighth Street for groceries. Occasionally, I walk far.  It is approximately an hour’s walk from my apartment to the big, Canadian bookstore that I frequent.  I’ve walked there about three times in the last three years. It is somewhere I usually take the bus to.

This time of the year I start to dread walking. It is getting colder. There are days below minus degrees and talk of wind chill. There will be ice and cars will pay even less attention to little, old me as they rush to and fro.

Vehicles don’t pay enough attention to pedestrians now. In the last month, I’ve almost gotten hit twice. The last time I could smell burning rubber after he applied the brakes.

Almost getting run over is a GREAT way to end the day!

The other time the person turning left was not paying attention; good thing I was. I will admit, I don’t always pay attention.

I will admit that I forget the rules sometimes. My generation, a mostly car-less one was “taught to walk on the left, facing traffic, so that we could see cars coming and move onto the shoulder.” (p. 38) There were also less sidewalks then. However, cars went slower, injuries were less serious, and drivers took responsibility for everyone’s enjoyment of the road. Now, there are times when it feels like I’m the only one noticing pedestrians.

I will take responsibility for my own safety but I want the vehicles out there to be aware that they are not the only ones using and enjoying the roadways.

I enjoy relying on my body for my own locomotion. I enjoy walking. There are many benefits to my walking.

Since I was a child, I’ve enjoyed walking in the rain. Though, here in the Prairies, that usually means that I am walking in the rain and the wind.

This is not a gentle tropical breeze that I am talking about.

This is updrafts and messy hair and wind tunnels.

How many umbrellas do I go through in a year?

1? 2? 3? Just one umbrella died this summer, at least. It’s a good thing my mom sells Avon. She always has inexpensive umbrellas hanging around for me to commandere.

I suppose, one day, I should buy a high end model. I worry though that our winds would treat such an umbrella the same as the others.  Maybe, I should just go for cute. Oh look, they even have a warranty.  Though, I have a feeling that Mary Poppins had a Burberry.

I know some of you may be wondering why not bike to work? For me, it’s a matter of paying attention. My mind tends to wander here, there, and everywhere. I feel it is safer for everyone if I keep my time behind the wheel to a minimum.

I am a pedestrian.

You can live in a city for centuries and never really know it until you walk its streets.

On a recent Sunday morning, I went meandering. I walked back from the university along Temperance, turned a corner, and suddenly had no idea where I was. It took about ten blocks before I could suddenly go, “ah ha, I am here and I know where I must go to get back on track.”

I love that. I love getting lost walking in a city that I supposedly know.

I am a pedestrian.

on my way out of the yoga today i peeked into a neighboring dance studio and quietly watched.  there was a tango lesson going on. well, i thought it was tango by the shoes anyway.

one spanish speaking man was speaking… spanish, and a women was translating to english, teaching what i thought was tango. we’ll call it tango.

the teachers were in an embrace, teaching ‘how to embrace.’ they clearly knew what they were doing while the students were clearly uncomfortable though eager to learn. i was equally eager to see some sultry, spicy tango on a friday night!

… however, the reason i am not totally sure it was a tango class is because they never ‘danced.’ instead, in that moment they were being taught how to embrace one and other.

and how to breathe together.

i had no idea how important this was in tango, but i got it. the man was going on in spanish and she translated.

‘you have to breathe together. you have to get very close like this, very still and learn each others breath, learn each others body. listen for it, feel it and learn it. learn how they breath, start to understand it and begin to breathe with them.’

so literally there were 4  couples, in an embrace, breathing together. their eyes were closed, arms around each other and they were so still. some slow tango (i guessed) music was playing and they just… were breathing. amazing to see right after a yoga pranayama class (practicing breathing exercises for 1 hour). i sat back and breathed with them. this was beautiful to watch and needless to say i became intrigued by these teachers.

the next lesson was about axis. the students were then to move together. once they became familiar with each others breathing it was time to move. so they began to move. the teachers brought up the next point:

2. ’stay on your own axis. don’t fall or merge into your partners. stay on your own axis and move together.’ amazing. interdependence.

next. the male teacher was watching and correcting a few students. he turned down the music, interrupted and was then translated.

3. ‘when you make a mistake let it go. forget about that move and move into another one. don’t think about it anymore.’

and finally, as if i hadn’t realized tango was truly my life lesson on love (and other things) for the day, lesson four comes along.

some students were making more mistakes, mostly men due to the nature of the dance (leader/follower).  this time the woman teacher stepped in.

4. ‘move from your whole body. some of you men are leading and moving from just your shoulders, your upper body. you have to breathe, move and lead with your entire body so that your partner can trust you, understand you, respect your lead.’

Spongebob Squarepants is a cartoon sea sponge who has his own show and full-length film. He lives in a pineapple with Gary, a pet snail that acts like a cat. Did you ever want to draw Spongebob, but thought that it was just too hard? Here you will find an easier way to draw Spongebob with simple steps and illustrations.

Steps

1. Draw a curve. The curve depends on the direction Spongebob is facing. If he is facing to the left, make the curve like this: (.



2. Erase the edges of the previous square and make it bumpy. This gives Spongebob that spongy texture.



3. Draw two wide, circle eyes. Spongebob’s eyes are white, and the two small circles are black. The circles around the black circles are blue. The eyes should be the same distance from the cross that you sketched on his face, and they should be drawn on Be sure to draw them on the top half of the cross. Add three thick eyelashes to each eye.



4. Draw a long, slim stick which increases ever so slightly in width for the nose. The nose is in the center.



5. Draw a mouth connected to the nose, which is black with a red tongue. Make sure that you have two rather noticeable bumps for his cheeks, with three red dots on them.
6. The mouth is a slightly curved upward line and has an even more curved line connected to it. You can now erase the cross that you sketched.



7. Draw two buck teeth, color them white. You might not have to, if you’re using white paper.



8. Draw square pants with thin, black rectangles going across the waist (4), draw a collar with a tie. Color the pants brown, the shirt white and the tie red. At the very bottom, draw two rectangles sticking out from underneath, which will be the pant legs.



9. Draw sleeves, which should be located slightly above the middle of his body, and should be in the shape of a fourth of an oval. Arms are thin sticks that do not increase or decrease in width.



10. For hands, draw two perfect circles, which will be the palms, and then draw what you did for the nose – a thin stick that is slightly wider at the ends. Erase the extra lines.



11. Draw two legs poking out from the two pant legs that are thin like the arms with unvarying thickness. Draw socks with two very thin lines and black shiny shoes. To make the shoes just right, add a perfect circle to his ankle and another at the end of his shoe; then connect these lines and add a heel. His socks are white, and the two lines are blue and red.



12. Add Spongebob’s holes and make them darkish yellow-green. On your right side, there are three holes: one big at the top, and one big hole at the bottom followed by a smaller hole. On the left, there there is a big and a small hole on both the top and bottom. On his side, there are always four holes, no matter which direction he is facing. Three of the holes are always above his arm, while one may sometimes be above, below, or beside the arm.

Tips

• Spongebob works at the restaurant the Krusty Krab, so he usually wears his uniform. His uniform is just his normal outfit plus a tall navy blue oval-shaped hat with a gold anchor.
• Be patient if your first drawing is less than perfect. Think of your first drawing as practice.
• Draw your lines lightly so that you can easily erase without leaving marks.
• Gather pictures of Spongebob and refer to them. Clip pictures from magazines and advertisements. Save pictures of Spongebob to your computer. You can find Spongebob clipart on Google Image Search. A good place to start is Sponge Bob clipart.
• Have you ever wondered what he’d look like with a moustache?

Warnings

• Never make SpongeBob’s teeth goof out in different directions. If you look carefully, you will see that his teeth are in fact perfectly straight, rectangular, buckteeth. They do not stick out!
• Spongebob’s eyes are touching. It is a common mistake to draw them too far apart.
