The December issue of Vanity Fair includes a teaser about the nasty divorce I posted about last May (below). Equally unsurprising as Mario Testino’s portfolio of Seymour’s smashing figure (which has long been fully disclosed), is the reported assumption that neither of them seem to be fighting over this Maurizio Cattelan sculpture:

Forget the largely dour results of the pulverized sales at Sotheby’s and Christie’s major auctions this week and last (they will eventually rebound perhaps more quickly than we suspect), the contemporary art auction season has been dealt a more mortal blow. Gone is the promise of watching a stallion-like Stephanie Seymour stride up the center aisle of Christie’s saleroom in some seductive getup to find her seat beside hubby Peter Brant, publisher of Art in America and Interview, polo and interview extraordinaire, and infamous Gagosian comrade. Just as the opening of the Brant Foundation Art Study Center is providing a peek at some of the 1,000 artworks that Brant has collected over the years, the 14-year marriage between Seymour and Brant (whose duo involvement with Interview as of late has been a bit disconcerting) is dissolving into Page Six reports detailing their bitter divorce and putting a final nail in the coffin of a decadent art collecting era. There are lots of questions here beyond whether Seymour is drugging and boozing and whether Brant’s ownership of a Maurizio Cattelan sculpture of Seymour (see above) that looks like it belongs in a hunting lodge qualifies as exhibiting “hostile, threatening and intimidating behavior.” The implications for contemporary art (at least some 1,000 works) is just beginning.

Stephanie M. Seymour (born July 23, 1968) is an American model and actress. Seymour has modeled for many notable fashion magazines and designers, and has been photographed by several well-known photographers including Herb Ritts, Richard Avedon, and Gilles Bensimon. She has appeared on over 300 magazine covers.

Career
Born in San Diego, California, the middle child of a California real estate-developer father and hairstylist mother, Seymour started her modeling career working for local newspapers and department stores in her hometown at the age of 14. In 1983, she entered the Elite Model Management Look of the Year modeling contest (now called Elite Model Look), but lost.

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Seymour appeared in numerous issues of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, and appeared on the cover of Vogue. During the same period, Seymour was a primary lingerie and hosiery model for the relatively new Victoria’s Secret company in its mail-order catalogs and retail stores. In 1991 and again in 1994, Seymour posed for Playboy.

In 1998, she wrote Stephanie Seymour’s Beauty Secrets for Dummies. In 2000, Seymour was ranked #91 on the FHM 1000 Sexiest Women of 2000. In 2006, she appeared in a campaign for Gap with her children.

Salvatore Ferragamo’s creative campaign for his fall/winter 2007/2008 collection featured Seymour and Claudia Schiffer, shot on location in Italy with Mario Testino. In the promotional photos, the supermodels play film stars protected by bodyguards and pursued by the paparazzi.

Acting
In 2000, Seymour played Helen Frankenthaler in the movie Pollock. In 2002 she played the role of Sara Lindstrom in the “Crazy” episode of Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Personal life
At the age of 16, she began dating John Casablancas, the head of Elite Model Management, who was, at the time, married to model Jeanette Christjansen. The couple lived together before Seymour broke off the relationship.

From 1989 to 1990 she was married to guitarist Tommy Andrews. The marriage failed, but resulted in the birth of her first son, Dylan Thomas Andrews in 1990.

By mid 1991, she became involved with Axl Rose, the lead singer of Guns N’ Roses. She appeared in two music videos by Guns N’ Roses: “Don’t Cry” and “November Rain”. The couple broke up in February 1993 after Rose accused Seymour of being unfaithful. In August 1994, Rose sued Seymour for assaulting him during a 1992 Christmas party, mental and emotional abuse, and for withholding $100,000 worth of jewelry. Rose claimed he and Seymour were engaged. In turn, Seymour countersued Rose for assaulting her and denied they were ever engaged.

Shortly after her break up with Rose, Seymour began dating Peter Brant, a married publisher and real estate developer. She gave birth to the couple’s first son (her second) Peter Jr. in December 1993. Seymour and Brant married in 1995 in France. Seymour gave birth to their second son Harry in 1996 and to their third child, daughter Lily Margaret, in 2004. In March 2009, Seymour filed for divorce from Brant after 14 years of marriage.

She’s not trashy sexy or cartoonishly sexy (not like Karen Mulder, who looks like a blonde Jessica Rabbit) or look at me sexy. She’s naturally sexy. Did I mention how sexy she is? I know I repeat myself. There’s just something so sensual about Stephanie. It’s her womanly curves, her luscious hair, everything about her really. All that and she’s always classy. She’s got incredible taste, her art collection is legendary, she’s extremely intelligent and well spoken. You may have noticed that she’s not shy about getting naked. Of course, plenty of models take their clothes off. I just like the way Stephanie does it. Brother, Big – Ninth season winner Adam Jasinski has been arrested for trying to sell 2000 oxycodone pills to a government witness in Massachusetts.  Instead of being charged with a crime, the feds are considering allowing Jasinski to dispense the pills, saying “that’s the only way people will make it through that boring-ass show.”

Gosling, Ryan – Producers had a tough time finding Gosling to give him the script for Fracture (2007) because he was living in a tent for a couple months at the time “for reasons he won’t disclose.”  Later that year he would star in Lars and the Real Girl, about a man who befriends a life-sized sex doll.  During his “tent time” it is believed he sequestered himself with his Real Girl “co-star” to research the part.

Somers, Suzanne – She helped zillions of people squeeze squeeze squeeze their way to shapelier hips and thighs.  Now Somers has moved from flabby thighs to…cancer.   The exercise equipment huckster is telling people to avoid chemotherapy for most cancers, concerning the American Cancer Society and lots of doctors.  Suzanne, are you sure this is the direction you want to be taking?  A stopped clock is right twice a day, so let’s leave the incredibly complex science of oncology to the scientists.

Master of the Universe and convicted felon Peter Brant, who exchanged a fifteen year sentence on insider trading for an eight month one by ratting out R. Foster Winans, the WSJ reporter Brant paid to plant stories in “Heard on the Street”, [update - different Peter Brant - see post above - "felon" still applies, as does "ex-convict"] has erected a huge ( 6 meters – doesn’t that violate the town’s height restrictions?) statue of Santa Claus holding a butt plug on the polo field at Conyers Farm, the better to greet Conyers Farm residents, children watching polo and passers-by on North Street. What an odd, pathetic little man this Brant is! Unable to hold on to his trophy wife, Stefanie Seymour, he made a trophy of her nude bust (and wasn’t that an ill-advised modeling moment, Stef?) and has mounted it in his home to torment their children. Now he’s spent a million bucks or more to publicy exhibit his taste for anal-play. Was this a pleasure he discovered in prison or earlier, at prep school? It doesn’t matter, but I’m astonished anyone, even a crooked midget, would so willingly display an inability to spend money wisely, a complete lack of taste and a private pecadillo more usually indulged in in private or on Provincetown beaches. Has this guy always been insane or is he sinking into early-Alzheimer’s? And here’s a question: will he light this up come Christmas to compete with John Paul Tudor Jone’s Belle Haven display?

UPDATE: Hmmm – things are getting nasty up there at the North Pole. In recent court filings, Peter complains that his vycodan-fueled wife has been smashing some of his artwork and sneaking other pieces out a hole she cut through the fencing on North Street. I’ll bhet Santa and his toy are safe, but if Steph’s taken a hammer to her bust, good for her. Hubby also complains that the bitch is spending something like $225,000 a month on clothes and accessories which, I’m sorry to admit, sounds unreasonable, even for this lady.

The divorce between Peter Brant and supermodel Stephanie Seymour is getting ugly. According to new legal filings, Brant alleges that Seymour spends $257,000 per month, including $50,000 on new clothes alone (via NY Post.) Brant also alleges his ex is stealing his prized items from their Connecticut home and continuing to abuse controlled substances like Vicodin.

In the same court papers, he claims Seymour has been running amok at their Connecticut mansion and stealing some of his valuable art. “In the past the plaintiff destroyed a valuable piece of art in anger, and recently destroyed the defendant’s Kentucky Derby trophy,” Brant claims.

In another recent filing, Brant’s legal team complained that Seymour was dragging her heels on getting drug and alcohol tests, which were ordered as part of their child custody dispute. Brant says that Seymour has “abused controlled substances in the past” including an addiction to Vicodin, for which she was hospitalized in 2000.

Seymour’s lawyer, Mark Sherman, said he had no immediate comment.

The couple split earlier this year after 16 years of marriage, though they still share the same mansion. The couple have three children, ages 4, 12 and 15.

You have GOT to be kidding me.

I think I answered a poll in the ’80’s sometime about which was the most beautiful woman in the world, and my answer was Stephanie Seymour (her later fling with the disgusting Axl Rose notwithstanding). I think if I took that same poll last week, my answer would have been the same, though of course I’d need to qualify that for spousal reasons as the most beautiful woman in the world “who’s never been in my kitchen”. I guess the most beautiful woman in the world who’s never been in my kitchen can theoretically have a 15 year old kid, but I’m pretty sure something’s weird about that. Especially when this is the mental image I conjure (oh, and I do conjure) whenever anyone to this day utters the magical words “Stephanie Seymour”
