The Vizio 32″ LCD HDTV cost around $500 or so, depending on where you buy it. I bought mine from Sam’s Club at around $520. I also purchased the wallmount for it. This is my first HDTV LCD TV that I have ever owned and I love it. It has dual HDMI output connections as well as VGA output connection to hook it to your PC or what not.

and the quality isn’t as good as I thought it would be, but still very good. If you get closer is when you start to see more of the pixels, but this is obviously caused by not having DishNetwork HD, and HDMI cables hooked up. My personal opinion on this TV is that for the price, you can not beat $500 for a 32″ Hi-Definition TV. The TV has the capability to remove the base to allow mounthing on the wall. There are about 10 screws or so to fully mounth this TV is that for the price, you can not beat $500 for a 32″ Hi-Definition TV.

It was a huge celebration for those car stereo fans when CD players were minimized to fit in the dashboard of the car. Before this the only three options you had was radio, cassette player and eight track cassettes. Luckily those hard times are now gone as these three have a sound quality that was nothing compared to what we hear these days. The sound production from a CD player or an iPod is accurate, tight while doing justice to each tune. All equipment in the car does their job perfectly while bringing entertainment and joy to the consumer.

For choosing the right type of car audio system for yourself you would need car stereo cables, a car stereo, amplifiers, speakers, wires and subwoofers. Before you jump to a conclusion or make up your mind on buying a car stereo system first browse the internet, shops where you can get good advices on which one to purchase and car audio magazines for help. This way you can update yourself on what manufacturing companies produce the best stereo system for cars while the ones with great deals. Each equipment for the audio system should be compatible with each other so once you have made up your choice make sure they won’t clash and compliment each other. As it is believed that some manufacturers are known for making the best subwoofers while others are good in the category of amplifiers.

Once you know which one is the best in the market narrow down to what you want in your stereo system. Have the name of the manufacturer and model number of the car stereo system jotted down on a piece of paper and head up to the shop with a favorite CD of yours. In the shop consult a professional for the manufacturers and models you have in your list and which one of them will be the best for your car. If the one suggested by him expensive for you then narrow down to at least two to three stereo systems that comes in your budget and fulfill your requirement as well. Play your favorite CD in each one of them to compare which one plays the best. The next thing to make sure in a stereo system is that it is easy to operate and comprehend as the more complicated the more confusion it is going to make.

Seit Vinyl wieder hip und trendy ist, gibt es auch Neuentwicklungen bei den Plattenspielern. Der “Void LP Player” zeigt, dass Analog- und Hightech vereinbar sind.

Dieses Gerät strapaziert unsere Seh- und Denkgewohnheiten. Allerdings konnten die Konstrukteure des Void nicht etwa die Schwerkraft aufheben, sondern setzen ein starkes Magnetfeld ein, um Platte und den Tonabnehmer (die Nadel sitzt in der Kugel) zu levitieren. So etwas ist heute praxistauglicher, da wir nicht mehr mit Magnetbändern an der Stereoanlage herumhantieren. Verstärker und Lautsprecher des Void LP wurden natürlich entsprechend abgeschirmt.

Der Tonabnehmer besitzt eine Autokalibrierung und ein Kontrollsystem, damit der Ton nicht leiert. Hier dreht sich natürlich nicht die Platte, sondern die Kugel wird vom Magnetfeld im Kreis geführt. Das aparte Konzept ist momentan nur eine Design-Fingerübung. Hoffentlich wird es in (Klein-) Serie gehen. [Ralf]

Apoi au putut sa asculte muzica din intimitatea caminelor lor. De 100 de ani gusturile rafinate (sau pretentioase dupa caz) asculta Yahama. Nu sunt un audiofil dar am avut ocazia sa simt vibratiile la ultima HIFIarena de acum doua saptamani. Azi am vazut pe birou catalogul Yamaha luat de la eveniment asa ca am purces la documentare pe yamaha-hifi.com si hifi.yamaha-europe.com. Va recomand ultimul site, chiar numai pentru a asculta in casti (preferabil) cele cateva cantece care ruleaza in background. De milioane.

Ce face Yamaha? Pentru consumatorii casnici produc incinte acustice (caci boxe e un termen destul de impropriu), sisteme audio (deck-uri plus boxe), amplificatoare audio, playere pentru compact discuri (nu au nici o legatura cu ceea ce stim majoritatea dintre noi despre CD playere), docking-station-uri pentru iPod care arata science-fiction. Un produs care uimeste este cel numit Digital Sound Projector, de fapt sunt mai multe modele, este un produs destinat celor care vor in casa un sistem home-theatre si sunet stereo surround dar care nu vor multe boxe si cabluri. Pentru ei exista acest produs care emite totul dintr-o singura unitate! Compact, fara cabluri, aratos, sunet curat, ma intreb cat costa. Si pentru ca nu s-au oprit la audio, au produs si home-theatre-uri, playere DVD si playere Blu-Ray.

Pentru ca mi-e greu sa explic feature-urile lor o sa enumar doar cateva dintre ele care au denumiri de marketing bine preparate: Dolby True HD, Digital Top-Art, Silent Cinema, dts-HD Master Audio, Air Surround Xtreme, IntelliBeam, Full-Stage Balanced Signal Transmission, Silent Loader, PlayXchange. Iar Top-Art vine de la Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology. In spatele acestor denumiri e mult marketing bineinteles dar si mai multa calitate a sunetului.

Iar cand intrebarea nu este ce sistem home-theatre sa-mi iau ci cate canale, cate programe surround, cate alte functionalitati, Yamaha pare a fi raspunsul, oferind solutii si pentru noii veniti si pentru veteranii muzicii bune.

tattie toes play a kindof semi-made-up (isn’t everything?) basque balkan jazz folk strammash. with a bit of velvet underground violin screech and ceilidh stomp and shanty wooze. a rhythmic fucking delight. big ballsy gutsy singing from small lady. and a clattering kinetic rattle that reminds me occasionally of sunburned hand of the man. felt like dancing, but one beer don’t make me fleet of foot. totally digging this, despite the short set. so good i bought one of those wee record things that i have far too many of.  available from the fine people at nuts and seeds.

muscles of joy are like if the shaggs bred, had all their instruments stolen and were forced to go on stage, sing a cappella and play whatever bits of percussive tat and old instruments were lying out back. at a push you’d say pop music with a weirdy arthouse mentality. they might have had a song about packed lunches. but then again i’m an ultra-literal fella. anything with an accordion gets my vote. plus there were more ladeez on the stage last night than have cumulatively been at all the gigs i attended this year. which either says something about me, the music i chow down on, glasgow, women or all four. i dunno. this was a rather pleasing multilimbed beast.

finally, and equally brevitous, we arrive at volcano the bear. touring this time round as a terrible twosome of padden and moore. what it is, is stupid. what it is, is clever. what it is, is exotic erotic and strange. exhilarating. funny. funny haha. funny weird. funny satie. at it’s best it’s the eccentric colliding with the mundane. exemplified by a lidl carrier bag filled with tin goblets and seventies stainless steel ice-cream bowls. the juxtaposition of the sweaty realness of folk and jazz with the absurd tootling of musical straws and tracked and taped concrète. it’s the grin of slight and knowing silliness tempered with the smashing of drum and mangling of geetar. it was fun in the same way the residents are or sun city girls were. which is odd since this kindof thing is usually po of faced and stroked of chin. hell i found my feet tapping and hips aswaying every now and again. so there you have it. a tonic for the mind and body that’ll put you in a buggered trance while hollering into yr faceholes. like red bull that doesn’t taste like tramp piss. you can sticker that on the next record fellas.

Algunas veces puedes realmente creer a tus ojos. Esto es lo que la nave espacial STEREO (Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory) está diciendo a los investigadores sobre un fenómeno controvertido que se produce en el Sol, conocido como “tsunami solar”.

Hace años, cuando los físicos solares observaron por vez primera una creciente ola de plasma caliente deplazándose por la superficie del Sol, dudaron de sus sentidos. La escala de esa cosa era abrumadora. Se elevó a más altura que la propia Tierra y se extendió desde un punto central con una forma circular de millones de kilómetros de circunferencia. Los observadores escépticos sugirieron que podía tratarse de algún tipo de sombra – una ilusión óptica – pero que con toda certeza no se trataba de una ola.

“Ahora lo sabemos”, comenta Joe Gurman del Solar Physics Lab del Goddard Space Flight Center. “Los tsunamis solares son reales”.

La pareja de naves espaciales gemelas STEREO confirmaron su realidad en febrero de 2009 cuando la mancha solar 11012 entró en erupción de forma inesperada. La explosión mandó una nube de gas de mil millones de toneladas al espacio y envió un tsunami que se propagó por la superficie del Sol. STEREO registró la ola desde dos posiciones separadas por 90 grados, proporcionando a los investigadores una vista sin precedentes del suceso.

Another Stereo demonstration record with the usual sound effects and test frequencies. There’s a short introduction, which is always nice. I’ve mentioned the ‘Russian Roulette’ and ‘Submarine’ scenes before in previous posts and those exact same scenes are on this record as well… but, this time they’ve translated it in to dutch.

I love the sleeve by the way! It’s designed by a guy named Wim Wal gkf. The label (Discofoon) released more records designed by him and they’re all beautiful (the other ones are actually much nicer, maybe I’ll post some pics here some day). He’s got a great sense of color and minimalistic graphic design. I tried to find a little bit more about him but unfortunately Google didn’t give any useful results, only some mentions of book cover designs he did but without any pictures.

Anyway, here’s a sample:

Photographs of Japan from the Meiji and Taisho Periods (1868-1926) have captivated viewers around the world since they were first circulated. One photographer in particular captured Japanese life so beautifully that his work has been seen by countless people all across the globe. Until very recently, though, his name was virtually unknown. Now we know that the prolific photographer’s name was T. Enami – or rather, that was his trade name. He was born Enami Nobukuni, and his work made a deep and far-reaching impact on photography.

Some of T. Enami’s most popular and memorable works were his stereograms: two nearly-identical 2D images taken from slightly different angles that, when viewed together through a stereograph, appear three-dimensional. Here they are animated to give the 3D effect, but all of the originals can be seen on Okinawa Soba’s Flickr collection.

This is a weird potpourri of sound recordings. There’s short clips of percussion, slamming car doors, blues, planes taking off, balancing tests, a classical orchestra, dixieland tunes, a ping pong match, traditional greek music, firetrucks, mexican trumpets, frequency ranges, the often used ‘russian roulette’ and ’submarine’ scene, big band music… you name it, it’s there, and all in no particular order! Most of it can be found on other records in my collection as well, but here it seems like they grabbed all the stereo sounds they could get their hands on an just dumped it on to one disk.

Most of the records here come without a year on it, just like this one.

moon unit: not zappa’s daughter. but the three piece featuring nackt insecten’s scrabbletastic ruaraidh sanachan on guitar (and not sitting on a rug full of overdriven twinkly things). they had the inevitable guy with table of wires and joyboxes. but really the show belonged to the fella on drums knocking buggery fuck out of his kit, percussing in a way somewhere between chris corsano and dave lombardo. hell’s bells he can pound. epic and loud and freeform huge monstrous waves of cosmic doom and sonorous drone, sturm und drang and sometimes, sometimes veering almost nearly not quite but skirting round flirting with, teasing, tickling, tormenting something approaching riff. this? this was fucking ace.  winning sperm party has some bootlegs here.

family battle snake: like if campbell kneale made minimalist techno inside a jet engine. his table of things had length and girth, with bigger, buttonnier boxes and longer twistier wires. if there is such a thing as table envy in this noise-o-rama world, the fella from moon unit must have been crying in a corner somewhere. anyway he made one long fzzschmmm of occasional beats and elektrikal hiss and fuzzing zoned zonked moves. quite transcendentally pleasing it was. with monstrous volume. enough chloropromazine and you could dance to this. or at least sway gently in the brutally gentle waves of skree lapping round yr lugholes.

hair police: or the reason for dragging my sorry ass out on pissing wet thursday night. they were on stage. then they were off stage. and for the brief time in between played like a black metal band doing free jazz. or vice vicious versa. demented gut-shrieks, mindlessly indiscriminate  six string thrash, headbang eyeroll freak the fuck out spazzmagoric joy. an atonal haunted house of cthulhian driller killer mayhem.  if i’d sneezed i might have missed them but quality not quantity eh. a miasmic bloody marvel.  and like the hirsute polis, i have no more words for ya.  thank you and goodnight.

“Sekarang kami tahu,” kata Joe Gurman dari Solar Physics Laboratory at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. “Sunami Matahari benar-benar nyata.”

Spacecraft STEREO kembar menegaskan realitas ini pada Februari 2009 ketika bintik matahari 11012 mengalami letusan yang tak terduga. Ledakan tersebut melemparkan milyaran ton awan gas ( coronal mass ejection atau CME) ke ruang angkasa dan mengirimkan sunami yang berlomba di sepanjang permukaan matahari.STEREO merekam gelombang tersebut dari dua posisi yang terpisah 90 derajat, memberi para peneliti suatu sudut pandang yang belum pernah diperoleh dari peristiwa ini.

“Itu benar-benar merupakan suatu gelombang,” kata Spiros Patsourakos dari George Mason University, penulis paper yang melaporkan penemuan ini dalam Astrophysical Journal Letters. “Bukan suatu gelombang dari air, tetapi suatu gelombang raksasa dari plasma dan magnetisme panas.”

Nama teknis dari gelombang ini adalah “gelombang magnetohydrodynamical fast-mode,” atau “gelombang MHD “. Salah satu yang terlihat oleh STEREO tingginya sekitar 100.000 kilometer, bergerak dengan kecepatan 250 km/detik (560.000 mph) dan membawa energi sebesar 2400 megaton TNT (1029 erg)

Sunami matahari ditemukan pada tahun 1997 oleh Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO). Pada bulan Mei tahun itu, suatu CME diledakkan dari suatu daerah aktif di permukaan matahari, dan SOHO merekam suatu sunami berdesir dari tempat ledakan.

“Kami bertanya-tanya,”Gurman mengingat saat itu, “apakah itu suatu gelombang, atau hanya suatu bayangan dari CME?”

Sudut pandangan tunggal SOHO saat itu tidak cukup untuk menjawab pertanyaan tersebut – baik gelombang pertama itu maupun peristiwa-peristiwa serupa di tahun-tahun berikutnya.

Pertanyaan tersebut masih tetap belum terjawab sampai peluncuran STEREO. Pada saat ledakan di bulan Februari 2009, STEREO-B tepat di atas tempat ledakan, sementara STEREO-A terletak di sudut kanan – “geometri yang sempurna untuk memecahkan misteri ini,” kata co-author Angelos Vourlidas dari Naval Research Laboratory di Washington, D.C.

Realitas fisika dari gelombang-gelombang tersebut telah ditegaskan lebih lanjut oleh film gelombang-gelombang tersebut menabrak sesuatu. “Kami telah melihat gelombang dipantulkan oleh bintik matahari,” kata Vourlidas. “dan ada sebuah film dimana suatu penonjolan matahari bergetar setelah tertabrak gelombang tersebut. kami menyebutnya ‘tonjolan yang menari’.”

Sunami matahari tidak secara langsung mengancam bumi, tetapi penting untuk dipelajari. “kita dapat menggunakannya untuk mendiagnosa kondisi permukaan matahari,”tulis Gurman. “dengan melihat bagaimana gelombang-gelombang ini menyebarkan dan melemparkan benda-benda,kita dapat mendapatkan informasi tentang atmosfer bagian bawah matahari yang tidak tersedia dengan cara lain.”

“Gelombang-gelombang sunami dapat juga memperbaiki ramalan kita terhadap cuaca ruang angkasa,” tambah Vourlidas, “seperti mata banteng, gelombang sunami tersebut “menandai titik” dimana erupsi terjadi. Penandaan tempat ledakan dapat membantu kita mengantisipasi kapan CME atau badai radiasi akan mencapai bumi.”

Dan sunami-sunami itu benar-benar sangat entertaining juga. “film-film itu diluar dunia ini.” katanya.
