<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.com/2012/12/11/life-building-and-bonding/img_0291/" rel="attachment wp-att-805"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-805" title="Great Friends On The Woodward Yacht!" alt="IMG_0291" src="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/12/img_0291.jpg?w=300&#038;h=225" width="300" height="225" /></a>For the second year Jamie and I were able to spend some time in Florida with <a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/category/the-life-business/" target="_blank">LIFE</a> Founders <a href="https://plus.google.com/108651379165740074407/posts" target="_blank">Orrin and Laurie Woodward</a> and <a href="http://ericblomdahlbetterlife.com/tag/dan-lisa-hawkins/" target="_blank">Dan and Lisa Hawkins</a>. To have some fun in the sun with great mentors, friends, and business partners was truly an unforgetible, priceless event.</p>
<p>We spent some time at the Woodward estate eating, playing sports, and cruising on their 76 foot yacht with about 50 people that are living a life on purpose making a difference in this country. With so many great minds  all in one setting my favorite thing to do is listen as every person there shares what their passions are and what purpose they are running to. In a country that so many have &#8220;arrived&#8221; and stopped working for continuous improvement it is so refreshing to be with a group who is chasing after a dream.</p>
<p>After many of our friends went home, Jamie and I were able to celebrate freedom by renting a house on a waterway with our family creating memories that will last forever. Just being able to have the time to truly relax, catch fish, and go to the ocean without a care in the world truly brings a family together.</p>
<p>Jamie and I have truly been blessed and we look forward to many other leaders in LIFE gaining their freedom to be able to live the life they have always wanted.</p>

<p>As we each build our leadership communities, one thing that quickly becomes obvious is that people are unique!  Everyone has their own history, their own list of accomplishments, their own family situation, their favorite sport, favorite food, and their own personality style.  Despite all of the differences, when you start spending a lot of time with a lot of people over the years, you start to see some patterns in behavior emerge.  For example, you see that certain people are shy, and certain people are really confident.  Some people really love details and tasks, and some people just love to be around friends.  With practice, you can start to recognize the general patterns in people’s personalities, it can help you understand them a little better and relate to them more successfully.</p>
<p>&#160;</p>
<p>Recognizing the different personality styles is nothing new.  People have been studying other people for as long as people have been around!  For example, a very famous Greek Philosopher named Hippocrates (after whom the Hippocratic Oath for medical practitioners is named) believed that in order to be healthy, your body needed equal amounts of four specific liquids. He called these liquids “humors” and they listed them as black bile, yellow bile, phlegm (“flem”), and blood. If you got sick, Hippocrates and his students thought it was because you had too much of one of these humors. So, they tried to cure you by removing some of those fluids! (Not always successfully, mind you, and not a very wise decision to begin with.  Just imagine the conversation!  “Hey Pythagoras, you still sick?  Well, let’s drain off a few quarts of that yucky blood stuff you’ve got inside and see if that doesn’t put some spring in yer step!”)</p>
<p>Fast forward a few thousand years and we humans are still trying to figure out ourselves and the people around us!  Luckily, some very smart people have done a lot of the heavy lifting for us.  A wonderful author, Florence Littauer, has written a great book to help us understand the four personality types.  That book is <em>Personality Plus</em>, available through the <a href="http://www.the-life-business.com/">LIFE </a>website, and I really recommend you get a copy and start to master your understanding of the four personalities!   Why take the time to learn more about our personality style, as well as the people around us?  Because by <a href="http://timmarks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Personality-Plus1.jpg"><img title="Personality Plus" alt="" src="http://timmarks.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Personality-Plus1-e1350036201370.jpg" height="200" width="128" /></a>better understanding ourselves, we know who we really are and why we react the way we do in certain situations.  We can recognize our strengths and amplify them, and we can be aware of our weakness and manage them more effectively.  When I got started in community building, my upline leaders <a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/2012/10/03/life-business-record-growth//">Orrin Woodward </a>and <a href="http://chrisbrady.typepad.com/">Chris Brady </a>both took me aside and gently suggested that I learn more about the Choleric personality and study some people skills books, because my demanding choleric nature was a definite weakness for me!  So, let’s dive into our four personality styles: Melancholy, Phlegmatic, Sanguine, and Choleric!  (And yes, Melancholy’s, I know that isn’t in alphabetical order… it’s not the end of the world!)</p>
<p><strong>Sanguine</strong></p>
<p>This is the outgoing, people-oriented social-type. Sanguines are also known as the “Popular” type. They enjoy fun, socializing, chatting, telling stories – and are fond of promising the world, because that’s the friendly thing to do. A Sanguine gets on well with people and can get others excited about issues, but cannot always be relied upon to get things done. They love interacting with others and play the role of the entertainer or center of attention in group interactions. They have a tendency to over-promise and under-deliver.   A Sanguine would benefit from LISTENING more and letting other people tell stories… and not trying to upstage them!  As well, if you are a Sanguine and don’t know the correct answer, DON’T make up the numbers… the Melancholy’s will spot you doing it and you’ll lose their respect!  Some famous examples are Bill Clinton, Robin Williams, Kelly Ripa and Richard Simmons.</p>
<p><strong>Melancholy<br />
</strong><br />
This is the reserved, task-oriented cautious type. Melancholies are also known as the “Perfect” type.  Their typical behavior involves thinking, assessing, making lists, evaluating the positives and negatives, and general analysis of facts. They love maps, charts and graphs. They are usually the most intelligent of the four types; however they tend to dwell on details. A Melancholy is a planner, making sure things happen, although sometimes they can paralyze themselves with over-analysis. Lists and “doing things the right way” are characteristics of this personality type.  Melancholy’s need to loosen up and let their hair down.  No one is perfect, even if a Melancholoy tries to be.  Don’t be so hard on yourself when you make a mistake… you are probably your own toughest critic.  Probably no one else noticed, so you don’t need to point out your error.  Remember that Cholerics and Sanguines are bored to tears with details, even if you find the details interesting.  When presenting to them, try to summarize the key points and move on.  Some famous examples are Hillary Clinton, Bill Gates, and Beethoven.</p>
<p><strong>Phlegmatic<br />
</strong><br />
This is the reserved and people-oriented type. They are easy going, laid back, nonchalant, unexcitable and relaxed.  Desiring a quiet and peaceful environment above all else. They tend not to actively upset people, but their indifference may frustrate people. They try not to make decisions, and generally go for the status quo. They are good as mediators because they don’t usually have many enemies. Phlegmatics are also known as the “Peaceful” type; they tend to want everyone to get along and not rock the boat.  They also have a “dry” and quick sense of humor. Phlegmatic leaders may not move as quickly as real Cholerics, but they can be just as—or even more—effective.  They may not work harder, but they just may work smarter!  If you are a Phlegmatic, you don’t have to say “yes” to every request… sometimes other people will take advantage of you if you don’t set up some boundaries and say “no” once in a while.  Some famous examples are Calvin Coolidge, Tim Duncan, and Keanu Reeves (Not his <em>Matrix</em> action-hero character, mind you… His <em>Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure</em> surfer character.)</p>

<p><strong>Choleric<br />
</strong><br />
I’ve put Cholerics last so that they can practice being patient and recognize that they aren’t always the alpha male in the room!  :)  This is the outgoing and task-oriented style.  Choleric are dominant, strong, decisive, stubborn and sometimes even arrogant.  Cholerics are also known as the “POWEFUL” type.  They tend to be good leaders because they are driven to get things done.  Unfortunately, they might offend some people along the way by not taking their feelings into account and stepping on some toes.  We joke that they are often wrong but never in doubt!  Cholerics often have the answers; they know what to do; they can make quick decisions; they bail others out in a jam—but they can struggle with being popular because their assurance and assertiveness make others feel insecure, and their ability to lead can easily make them appear bossy. Powerful Choleric should try to soften their approach with people while maintaining their amazing work ethic and results so that others will celebrate the Cholerics and not be offended by them.  As <a href="http://orrinwoodwardpress.typepad.com/my_weblog/2012/03/the-life-business-the-business-of-life.html">Orrin Woodward’s </a>amazing wife Laurie Woodward has said, “The #1 job of Cholerics is to love your people.”  Some famous examples are Donald Trump, General Patton and Bill O’Reilly.</p>
<p>So we’ve briefly touched on each of the four personalities, but it gives you a good introduction to them.  It’s my hope this blog inspires you to devour <em>Personality Plus</em>.  One thing to always remember: no personality style is better than the other.  Each has strengths and weaknesses.  Each style is complemented by someone else…. Which is why working as part of a team can be so powerful!  If you haven’t done so, take the time to read this book and learn about these styles.  If you’ve read the book once, read it again and master it!  You’ll discover the people around you are amazing!</p>

As we came up to the counter <a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/candy-mints.jpeg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-792" title="candy mints" alt="" src="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/candy-mints.jpeg?w=300&#038;h=225" height="225" width="300" /></a>there was a bowl of mints for the taking. When I turned around to look at him he had one handful of tasty treats and was reaching up to fill his other hand. At this point I told him to stop and take only one. Next is our conversation that took place.</p>
<p>&#8220;But Dad, they&#8217;re free!&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Nothing is free, somebody has to pay for them.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;But dad, I don&#8217;t have to pay for them Dad.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Aidan, If you take more than you need then there will not be enough for others to enjoy. And if you abuse the &#8220;free stuff&#8221; pretty soon the people who are offering it will stop.&#8221;</p>
<p>This was such a great conversation and one of many hundreds of teachable moments that happen with me and my children over the course of a week. He got it! An eight year old understood this concept yet I can&#8217;t quite seem to get it across to people more advanced in years.</p>
<p>As I watch the <a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/2012/08/31/1913-and-americas-lost-freedoms/" target="_blank">political lanscape</a> being laid out I think of how often I see the word &#8220;free&#8221; being thrown around as to the services that the government will provide. Next time you see the word I hope you think of the lesson my son learned and know that nothing is free, someone has to pay for it. The only difference between the store owner&#8217;s mints and many (not all) government services (handouts) is that one of them provided it voluntarily.</p>

Thousands of people were recognized on stage for achieving new pins, numbers, and vacations.  From Thursday night through early Sunday afternoon, the <a href="http://www.the-life-business.com/testimonials.aspx">LIFE community</a> experienced it best information and inspiration weekend ever. The teams within the community have united together to break more power players than ever before.</p>
<p>With speakers the caliber of <a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/2012/02/24/chris-terri-brady-life-founders-part-i/">Chris and Terri Brady</a>, <a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/2012/02/14/tim-amy-marks-life-founders/">Tim and Amy Marks</a>, <a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/2011/12/13/claude-lana-hamilton-life-founders/">Claude and Lana Hamilton</a>, <a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/2012/01/16/bill-jackie-lewis-life-founders/">Bill and Jackie Lewis</a>, <a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/2012/02/10/george-and-jill-guzzardo-life-founders/">George and Jill Guzzardo</a>, <a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/2011/12/09/dan-lisa-hawkins/">Dan and Lisa Hawkins</a>, Mark McDonald, and Pastor Stephen Davey, I knew it was going to be a great weekend. However, what put it over the top was the enthusiasm and belief of the attendees. Never before have so many people advanced in the business and that belief spread to everyone attending the event.</p>

<title><![CDATA[A Simple Math Lesson]]></title>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As a teacher of high school aged students for thirteen years, I taught the same lesson <a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/blackboard_math.gif"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-783" title="blackboard_math" alt="" src="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/blackboard_math.gif?w=234&#038;h=300" height="300" width="234" /></a>every year, and to my surprise (and theirs) I got the same result. The lesson was on how to calculate percentages and different areas of our lives where we might use this skill.</p>
<p>After teaching the basic operation we would then move to application. I would ask how much you should tip at 20% if your meal was $34.78. We would do this for many different scenarios and talk about how if your base number is higher than your percentage will be higher. To which all the students after seeing the facts agreed.</p>
<p>Then came the moment of surprise! I would then ask the students how much they thought a wealthy person made? Differing from year to year, in general the students said the wealthy make about $300,000 per year. Now the discussion would get really heated lasting for a couple of class periods as I would now state, &#8220;Now you see that the wealthy pay more in taxes than everyone else.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;No way Mr. Leurquin!&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Your Lying Mr. L!&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;They should pay more but they don&#8217;t!&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;Mr. L, what are you smoking!&#8221;</p>
<p>These were some of the most repeated responses I received to my statement throughout the years.</p>
<p>I would then proceed to write three examples on the board using Bob, Cindy, and Cliff.</p>
<p>If Bob makes $30,000/year and is taxed at 10% he pays $3,000 in taxes.  If Cindy makes $300,000/year and is taxed at 10% she pays $30,000 in taxes. If Cliff makes $3,000,000/per year and is taxed 10% he pays $300,000 in taxes.</p>
<p>Now usually the room was silent as I would bring attention to the fact that the wealthy (based on their definition of wealthy) do pay more in taxes. Every year the response was the same, &#8220;I guess they do pay more in taxes.&#8221; What gets me the most is that the kids I taught were generally not that good at math so of course they were not aware of this right? Nope! When I show this to adults I usually get the same stunned response.</p>
<p>Wouldn&#8217;t it be great if we were only taxed at 10% freeing up more of our money to spend as we see fit? Wouldn&#8217;t it be great if the handcuffs were taken off people so they could go out to become &#8220;wealthy&#8221; so they could pay the same tax percentage as everyone else yet pay so much more? Thus providing more revenue for this country to provide for the programs that are needed. Let&#8217;s encourage people to go out and make a lot of money, tax the heck out of them at the same percentage as everyone else. Raising their tax percentage as they make more only discourages the motivated one from pulling the cart and if nobody is pulling the cart, who will?</p>

<title><![CDATA[There Is No Tomorrow ]]></title>

<description><![CDATA[A few years ago my daughter asked me if I could build her a tree house. &#8220;At this time I can no]]></description>
<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A few years ago my daughter asked me if I could build her a tree house. &#8220;At this time I can not because we are trying to sell our house and I wouldn&#8217;t want to build something and then have to leave it&#8221;, was the reason I told her. The next year my excuse was that I didn&#8217;t have the time because we were running pretty hard for some goals. The next year came and my reasoning switched again to not having a proper tree to put up a good treehouse. My daughter patiently waited.</p>
<p>Then one night I sat up in bed almost in a cold sweat realizing my daughter <a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/treehouse.jpeg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-778" title="treehouse" src="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/treehouse.jpeg?w=259&#038;h=194" alt="" width="259" height="194" /></a>is not getting any younger. She is 10 years old. In three years she most likely will not care about having a treehouse and in eight years she will be out on her own. The realization hit me because I didn&#8217;t want to look back on my time with her and realize I missed out on a father-daughter moment of being the hero to her. This is something her and I can do together and she will have a lifetime memory of what her daddy and her did together back when she was ten and who knows, maybe her kids will someday be able to play in it.</p>
<p>I&#8217;m proud to say that we have begun the process of building the treehouse and we are having so much fun doing it together as a family.</p>
<p>You know the real reason why I never started building the tree house? &#8230;&#8230;.I&#8217;m not very handy and I had no idea how to start. I was afraid to do something I had never done before and the fear kept me from taking the first step. I wonder how many people in life get to their deathbeds filled with regret because of all the things they never accomplished on account of fear of not knowing how to start?</p>
<p>What goal in your <a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/2012/09/27/hbrn-leadership-factory-special-guest-chris-brady/" target="_blank">life</a> are you not taking the first step toward because you&#8217;re afraid to start. Well guys, I know that if I had never built my daughter a tree house I would have looked back a few years from know with regret knowing I had missed a great parent-child opportunity. Take the first step, you won&#8217;t regret it!</p>

We cheer when Rocky goes from the poor streets of Philadelphia working at a meat packing industry to a world champion boxer. We cry when un-athletic, not meant for college Rudy who gets ridiculed from his family for his dream, gets carried off the field for fulfilling a life long dream.</p>
<p>This is a great story by <a href="http://danhawkinsleadership.com/2012/05/15/orrin-woodward-amwayquixtar-whistleblower/" target="_blank">Dan Hawkins</a> of dream-struggle-victory. The difference here is they did it by helping people. <content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>It has been twelve months since the start date of this leadership blog! I want<a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/20000.jpeg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-760" title="20000" src="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/20000.jpeg?w=259&#038;h=194" alt="" width="259" height="194" /></a> to say thank you to all the readers for your support in making year one a success. Knowing very little about technology when <a href="http://danhawkinsleadership.com/2012/08/29/its-all-about-you-and-your-life/" target="_blank">Dan Hawkins</a> suggested I put some of my ideas down in print on an on-line blog I thought it was a terrible idea. Terrible only because computers and me go together like socks with flip-flops. Well, after <a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.com/" target="_blank">64 blog articles</a> and close to 20,000 hits to this site I have to admit that it has been a great experience.</p>
<p>The biggest thing I gained from writing was that by taking what you are learning and putting it down on paper you think about it deeper and learn the principles at a higher level. So my take away for the year to pass on to others is this, take what you are reading and not only live it, but prepare it like you are going to teach it to others.</p>

There is greatness inside each one of us and if everyone didn&#8217;t stop until we discovered that individual greatness, imagine how much better this world would be?! Also, children shine in greatness and believe they have it in them. At what age do they stop believing there is greatness in them and why?<strong></strong></p>
<p><strong><em>We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.</em> <em>It is not just in some; it is in everyone.</em></strong></p>
<p align="center">Keep searching and working to unveil the God-given greatness that is in each one of us.</p>

<p align="center">Many people are trapped in a world of mediocrity because of fear.  Every time someone else has the courage to step out of their fear it causes a ripple affect of others who now have &#8220;permission&#8221; to overcome their fears. The catch is someone has to lead. Someone has to be the first one so that there is a blueprint for others to follow. Who will that be? Get off the couch, take a stand, and be the change so desperately needed in this world giving someone else the faith to overcome their fear!</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In April the <a href="http://www.cbsatlanta.com/story/17999389/orrin-woodward-and-partners-launch-mental-fitness-challenge" target="_blank">Founders of LIFE</a> launched the <a href="http://claude-hamilton.com/2012/05/04/take-the-mental-fitness-challenge/" target="_blank">Mental Fitness Challenge (MFC)</a> <a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/mfc.jpeg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-660" title="MFC" src="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/mfc.jpeg?w=260&#038;h=194" alt="" width="260" height="194" /></a>as a way for people to grow mentally, setting goals growing in a step-by-step toward the life they always wanted to live. In my three plus decades on this earth I have found that those that are most successful are the ones who set goals and challenge themselves to get better on their quest to hitting those goals. The <a href="http://www.mental-fitness-challenge.com/" target="_blank">MFC</a> is designed to give people a roadmap to plan a course for those things they always wanted to achieve in their life but maybe started to think impossible.</p>
<p>These <a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.com/2011/11/01/policy-council-members-dan-and-lisa-hawkins-founders-of-life/" target="_blank">LIFE Founders</a> are the best guys to design a program for improving <a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/life-founders.jpeg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-666" title="LIfe FOunders" src="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/life-founders.jpeg?w=300&#038;h=150" alt="" width="300" height="150" /></a>oneself mentally because they have practiced this idea for years before putting this concept out there for others to follow. Here are a few of there examples:</p>
<p><a href="http://claude-hamilton.com/2012/05/16/mental-fitness-challenge-groups-are-a-huge-success/" target="_blank">Cluade Hamilton</a> tells the story of how he used mental toughness to stay the course in a very difficult Navy dive school.</p>
<p><a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/2012/05/16/challenge-groups-equals-community/" target="_blank">Orrin Woodward</a> has many examples of this toughness but the one that sticks out in my head is the process he used for expanding his lungs to stay under water long enough to break a buddy&#8217;s underwater swim record.</p>
<p><a href="http://chrisbradylife.com/2012/05/02/challenge-yourself/" target="_blank">Chris Brady</a> admits he was outgunned as compared to his classmates while going to college. He developed a system of disciplined study that allowed him to compete with his classmates.</p>
<p><a href="http://timmarks.com/blog/?p=208" target="_blank">Tim Marks</a>&#8216;s work ethic and discipline helped him go from extreme debt to a seven figure income in thirty-one months.</p>
<p>These are just a few of the stories from the leaders that make up the company that is going to go to one million people and beyond. These guys are also leading many couples mentoring them to challenge themselves mentally to grow in pursuit of reaching there goals and dreams.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Last night at <a href="www.the-life-business.com" target="_blank">the-life-business</a> monthly seminar we had the honor of hearing from LIFE founders and <a href="www.the-team.biz" target="_blank">the-team.biz</a> policy council members <a href="http://claude-hamilton.com/2012/05/12/social-media-etiquette/" target="_blank">Claude and Lana Hamilton</a>! This couple is a true example of humility in the midst of excellence. They shared from their heart and gave three fantastic talks to the Southeast Wisconsin teams! At the seminar I was able to share a story that seemed to resonate with the crowd that I had many requests for. I heard this from a female pastor online but can&#8217;t remember her name so I wanted to share it with you:</p>

A subjective came along and said, &#8220;I feel for you down there in the pit.&#8221; An objective person came and said, &#8220;its logical someone would fall down in that pit.&#8221; A Christian scientist came along and said, &#8220;you only think you are in a pit.&#8221; A Pharisee said, &#8220;only bad people fall into the pit.&#8221; A newspaper reporter wanted the exclusive story on the pit. A fundamentalist said, &#8220;you deserve your pit.&#8221; Confucius said, &#8220;if you listened to me you wouldn&#8217;t be in a pit.&#8221; A realist said, &#8220;that&#8217;s a pit.&#8221; A scientist calculated the pressure necessary to get him out of the pit. A geologist told him to appreciate the rock strata in the pit. A tax man asked him if he was paying taxes on the pit. The council inspector asked him if he had a permit to dig a pit. An evasive person came along and avoided the subject of a pit altogether. A self-pitying person said, &#8220;you haven&#8217;t seen anything until you&#8217;ve seen my pit.&#8221; A charismatic said, &#8220;just confess, you&#8217;re not in the pit.&#8221; An optimist said, &#8220;things could get worse.&#8221; A pessimist said, &#8220;things will get worse.&#8221; Jesus saw the man, nelt down and lifted him out of the pit.</p>
<p>One constant I know about life is that it is tough. People are struggling in their finances, their faith, maybe an addiction, relationships, health, purpose, the list could go on and on. And the issue with society is that people have no problem rationalizing, objecting, making excuses and pointing the finger. If you have fallen into a pit, you need to stop digging! What we as a community do is reach down and pull people out of the pit. We take responsibility and we do it. Will you be the hands and feet of Jesus and join <a href="www.the-life-business.com" target="_blank">the-life-business</a> as we go out and help pull millions of people out of the pit?</p>

I was doing my daily reading when I came upon his latest post on friendship and wanted to share another perspective on the same video. <p>In a world where negative and skepticism is king how do people find the courage to bring out their greatness? I love this video because it explains how it is still possible to live your dreams and become a hero. How many people like Jonathan have greatness within but lack the friend and the stage to bring it out!</p>
<p>The <a href="http://www.the-team.biz/39725565/Home/tabid/148/language/en-US/Default.aspx" target="_blank">LIFE Community</a> is on a quest to offer both! In <a href="http://www.the-life-business.com/Shopping/tabid/63/ProdID/1720/language/en-US/Default.aspx" target="_blank">Orrin Woodward&#8217;s book Resolved 13 Resolutions for Life</a> he teaches the principles of friendship. Everyone who takes the <a href="http://www.mental-fitness-challenge.com/Home.aspx?ln=61235200" target="_blank">Mental Fitness Challenge</a> is being trained to be that friend for the people around them in their community. Along with learning the right information, LIFE offers association on a weekly basis with like minded people who want you to live the life you&#8217;ve always wanted!</p>
<p>The LIFE Team offers a stage for you to shine just like this TV show gave Jonathan his chance. The LIFE compensation plan was created to reward those willing to go through the process: learn, do and then teach!</p>

This example of character and class brought a tear to my eye as I watched a young man and woman display courage in so many ways that it&#8217;s a blueprint for what it truly means to be a friend.</p>

All 8 principles are shown by both Jonathan and Charlotte. I was Choked up as Charlotte showed unwavering loyalty to Jonathan throughout their lives with encouragement and protection from verbal abuse. Then, when at a time he could have abandoned his friend for a better chance at money and fame, Jonathan showed the same loyalty.</p>

<p>I associate with a well read group of people and it amazes me how few people have read the documents that shaped the foundation for our country. Recently I was listening to an audio recording from <a href="http://larryvanbuskirkleadership.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Larry VanBuskirk</a> titled <a href="http://www.the-life-business.com/Shopping/tabid/63/ProdID/1981/language/en-US/Default.aspx" target="_blank">Economics 301.</a> In it he encouraged everyone to read/study these documents to create an educated populous as a first step in turning this country around. I hope you will invest the time to read it for yourselves. Our country needs you to.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>When I was younger I was bullied by some older kids. They would physically harass me because they were much bigger me and they could. As I got older I learned that I could get <a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/bully.jpeg"><img class="alignright size-full wp-image-619" title="bully" src="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/bully.jpeg?w=183&#038;h=276" alt="" width="183" height="276" /></a>stronger standing up to their actions and the physical abuse stopped. Smart as a bully is in their pursuit of keeping people down they learned the most powerful tool to keeping people in their place: go for the mind. Realizing they could no longer physically attack they unleashed a continuous verbal attack on me over many years that affected my thoughts on the way I perceived myself.</p>
<p>I thought of this powerful tool used to control others as I came across an audio recording of Paul Harvery&#8217;s radio broadcast from 1965. How do you keep a large group of people in their place? Control their thinking. This was recorded 47 years ago but it sounds like Mr. Harvey was right on with his analysis of our nations future.</p>
<p>Agree with the video or not what I like about Paul Harvey, he is a thinker. If you disagree with the video I hope at least it got you to think because if we are going to turn this thing around we are going to have to become a nation of people who <a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/2012/03/20/leadership-life-liberty/" target="_blank">learn and think</a> for themselves.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Recently I watched the movie <strong><a href="http://courageousthemovie.com/themovie" target="_blank">Courageous</a></strong> with some great <a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.com/category/friends/" target="_blank">friends.</a> This is a must see for every person who is a man, knows a man, or who has every seen a man (Yes Everyone!). There are many great lessons taught about <a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.com/category/family/" target="_blank">family</a>, <a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.com/category/faith/" target="_blank">faith</a>, friendship, <a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.com/category/fun/" target="_blank">fun</a>, in a movie that stretches you and encourages becoming a better man/father.</p>
<p>This film will make you laugh, cry, and search your soul. Several scenes in <strong>Courageous</strong> show men living their lives to the fullest in the <a href="http://the-life-business.com" target="_blank">8F&#8217;s</a>. When I watch the attached clip with my family we can&#8217;t help but have gut busting laughs as we feed off each other&#8217;s giggles and replay the seen through our own eyes. These men know how to have fun. Go grab your family, have some fun and enjoy a laugh. Better yet, go get the movie and watch it with them and some friends.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Steve and Kelli Sager are moving on in <strong>LIFE</strong> using <strong>the-team.biz</strong> system!  This couple was highlighted on my blog just a few months ago for hitting turbo 25, now they have just achieved the turbo 50 level!(Two groups of people of at least 50 each attending a monthly seminar) More than doubling their numbers in a couple month period and helping many other go turbo 10 in the process. We are blessed to have Steve and Kelli as one of the leaders on Team STEALTH! Although they didn’t know it, they were not skeptical to what<a href="http://danhawkinsleadership.com/2012/01/05/orrin-woodward-claims-iab-leadership-award/" target="_blank">LIFE</a> offered them, they were unhappy<a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/2012/02/04/idle-rich-idle-poor-the-burdened-middle-class/" target="_blank">“living the dream” </a>and having no results to show for it. Working hard their whole lives, Steve as a police officer and Kelli a factory worker, they were hounded with debt, time starved, and relationship stressed and were feeling there had to be more to life.</p>
<p>Looking for a better way to make ends meet Steve started to explore other options like going into real estate. During that same time he was introduced to <a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/life-meritocracy/" target="_blank">Life-Team</a> through a friend, meeting<a href="http://danhawkinsleadership.com/2011/12/13/new-turbo-100s-on-the-lifeteam/" target="_blank"> Gary Severson</a> and although skeptical, the information spoke too much truth. “I was tired of hitting my head against a brick and found this was a good way to stop the pain” Steve said.</p>
<p>Having no security in their jobs, they were living pay check to pay check and just could not get ahead in the drowning pool of debt. Steve and Kelli thought they had done everything they were supposed to do and yet they found themselves stressed out with life.</p>
<p>Using the <a href="http://the-team.biz/" target="_blank">Team system </a>of success principles they began to leverage their discretionary time to building their business to the first of many notable levels. This past weekend Steve and Kelli celebrated a huge level in Life-Team. They are now being rewarded for their determination, courage, and their tireless effort to helping others. Financially they have witled down a 6+ debt figure to almost nonexhistent and they are putting some final things in place for Kelli’s freedom day! When I asked Steve about other victories they have attained through LIFE he was quick to point their better marriage, coming to faith, and their much improved relationship with their kids.</p>
<p>They are now leading a large community. With their constant learning to grow in the<a href="http://the-life-business.com/" target="_blank">8F’s</a>, many people now come to them for help because they see so much strength in areas that used to be weaknesses.</p>
<p>In a world were many are complaining about their situations but not willing to do anything about it, we solute Steve and Kelli for creating a path for others to follow. Rather than living a life of existence, they are now living a life of purpose.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I first heard this quote from top 10 leadership expert <a href="http://chrisbradylife.com/2011/12/03/the-goal-of-life-making-a-difference-in-a-different-way/" target="_blank">Chris Brady</a> at a Team leadership convention. Isn&#8217;t it amazing that when you hear the truth it just makes sense.  So many people skate through life never giving 100%. Is it fear of failure, fear of success, lack of confidence, lack of courage or are they just stuck in todays mediocre mind set?</p>
<p>We have all been given talents and gifts that are waiting to be opened and used. One of my favorite pieces of being part of a leadership team is the community. It is much easier to become a winner when you surround yourself with winners. I love the video Steve placed on his blog. One of the biggest things I noticed was the constant encouragement he received from his coach and teammates to become his best.</p>
<p>Who is in your cheering section? Who is on your mental committee? You will become like who you associate most, choose wisely!</p>

<blockquote><p>I was listening to a leadership recording the other day by <a title="Leadership" href="http://leadershipgurus.net/index.html" target="_blank">Top 10 Leadership Guru</a> and best-selling Author <a href="http://orrinwoodwardpress.typepad.com/" target="_blank">Orrin Woodward</a> in which he gave a great example from his youth about doing his best. As a high school senior cross country runner he was content with the status of being the second best runner on the team. Then, the race came where a freshman on the team was attempting to pass Orrin. That didn’t sit well with him as he had a rule that freshman do not beat seniors. He unleashed his best not only holding off the freshman but passing the team number 1 runner finishing first-team all district.</p>
<p>It got me thinking to how many times in my life I have settled for less then my best thinking that was all I had to give. A great movie scene from <strong>Facing The Giants</strong> shows a young man who because he is holding back his best, hurts the whole team’s performance.</p>

<p>Sometimes I shutter in one of those cold, hair standing on the back of the neck feelings, thinking about who in this <a href="http://steveleurquinintentionalliving.com/2011/12/08/our-deepest-fear-in-life/" target="_blank">world I am hurting by playing it small?</a></p>
<p>I think of Great leaders like <a href="http://timmarks.com/blog/?p=86" target="_blank">Tim Marks</a>, <a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/2011/12/09/dan-lisa-hawkins/" target="_blank">Dan Hawkins</a>, and <a href="http://bill-lewis.net/2011/12/06/the-mereness-of-leadership/" target="_blank">BIll Lewis</a>. All men that lead thousands of people now but at one time were faced with the question, do I continue on my current path or do I follow the leadership road less traveled so that my light will give other people the courage to do the same? Gary and Erika Severson have been tearing it up the past couple of months exploding their business. Anytime you are able to put together two groups of over 100 people attending a seminar you are leading in a big way.</p>

<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>At a recent <a href="http://mattmielke-excellenceinlifethroughleadership.com/2011/11/05/the-winning-side-to-the-team-biz/">the-team.biz</a> seminar I was able to spend a ton of time with <a href="http://orrinwoodwardblog.com/2011/11/04/life-compensation-plan/" target="_blank">Leadership expert Orrin Woodward</a>. What amazed me was after the seminar Orrin Woodward sat and signed a book for anyone who had a copy of any of his books. This does not surprise me because Orrin is always serving, what amazed me were the comments I heard. Person after person shared how Orrin and the LIFE/Team have changed their life. Not just Orrin your great, it was specific things and examples of what has change for the better in their life. One LIFE member said &#8220;this guy (Orrin) is a giant in leadership and business.&#8221; To this I added, Orrin is not only a giant in business, but he is a giant maker.</p>
<p>Critics of Orrin Woodward should be ashamed of their unfounded comments. So many people will believe a cowardly critic who hides behind a keyboard and has no results in life. All the while they lose their chance to live a life of purpose and become their best. I wish I would have pulled out my phone and took a video of this line and all of the sincere praise and thankfulness this group had for Orrin and the Team.</p>

<p>Orrin Woodward has and continues to poor his heart, mind and soul into people who want to become leaders. He has given all of us the tools to become our best in LIFE and pursue our purpose. What I love most about Orrin and the Team, is they are willing to walk the walk, not hide and gossip.</p>

<p>I wanted to share what happens when someone has the courage to step out and apply the principles Orrin Woodward teaches.</p>

Both have had to overcome many things to gain success.  Some of which include humble beginnings, tragic accidents, struggles with self worth, and not feeling capable of leading people.</p>
