Para quem ama folhear revistas de moda e curte mesmo ficar admirando as fotografias publicadas nas capas e nos editoriais a notícia não poderia ser melhor.  É que foi lançado recentemente o livro “Three Hundred Seventeen & Counting” (à venda no site da editora Mallard/Janvier), celebrando o trabalho mundialmente conhecido do renomado fotógrafo de moda Steven Meisel.

Há mais de vinte anos ele assina as fotografias das capas e dos editoriais de icônicas publicações como a Vogue Italia para a qual ele conta com a total liberdade que lhe é concedida pela editora-chefe da revista, Franca Sozzani.

O livro reúne imagens feitas por Meisel entre os anos de 1988 a 2009. Uma verdadeira obra prima para quem é louco por moda, além de servir como um belo registro histórico da moda na contemporaneidade.

Last night I finally watched The September Issue. What an AMAZING documentary. I really admire Grace Coddington’s work in this film. Although techincally, the film was about Anna Wintour, Grace stole the show with her artistic vision and “grace”. She is a pure genius.

Here are some of the images that made it into the September Issue of Vogue US. Shot by Steven Meisel and styled by Grace Coddington.

Le magazine Vogue italie du mois de novembre nous présente un shooting photo assez particulier.

Le célèbre photographe mode, Steven Meisel, mets en scène  l’affolement médiatique née autour de la grippe H1N1.

Ainsi, Rianne ten Haken est entourée de scientifiques masqués  munis de bombonnes à oxygènes.  Un décor étonnant combinant le milieu médical aux poses désinvoltes du mannequin, fumant une cigarette  autour d’une piscine.

Même si cette série de photos  peut paraître choquante au vu des victimes de la grippe H1N1, le photographe dans son éditorial  dénonce la surmédiatisation de la pandémie.  S. Meisel encourage donc ses lectrices à résister face à la psychose en étant toujours plus glamour.

The amazing and ultra-glamorous Steven Meisel’s work for Vogue Italy is so fascinating and there is so much material, that a book about it had to happen, the fashion world were aching for a covetable book that could bring together all his work since 1988 until 2009.

The book is a limited edition created by Mallard/Janvier that shows that heaven-made-relationship between the photographer and the publication. It’s something that’s almost impossible to find these days: a fruitful, faithful partnership that has defined much more than fashion over the past two decades.

Masked scientists armed with oxygen tanks track the flame-haired Rianne ten Haken as she moves from airport to pool, all in a valiant attempt to contain her fashion virus.Steven Meisel’s newest editorial for Vogue Italia is deadly and ferocious. Fashion is like a virus itself and to have such concept is very relevant today. OH what an EPIDEMIC! I would like to catch this virus by that I mean the bright 80’s clothes Haken is wearing and her make up is FIERCE!

So I was wondering how long would it take to the fashion industry to take over the mediatic paranoia of the H1N1 virus and adopt it to fashion? Guess not that long! The November issue of the Vogue Italy just released a story with famous photographer Steven Meisel. A provocative layout inspired by the actual news. After the war in Iraq,  NSA, H1N1 is no exception for Steven! The set composed of masked scientists; oxygen tanks and antiviral push the story to an extreme fashion virus! A bit shocking considering that no later than last June CondeNast employees received a memo reporting that an employee was tested positive for swine flu!
