This is the first time in memory watching a Renny Harlin movie. The Covenant has a reputation of being the gayest straight witch movie ever to be created on celluloid. There are endless sequences of the boys being shirtless or even less and a man-on-man mouth rape. The rest of the film, however, is god-awful.

This movie tells the convoluted story about the sons of Ipswich, a powerful Wiccan sect that have been in the shadows ever since the Salem Witch Trails. It was believed that there were five descendants that survived.

We are introduced to four of them; Caleb (Steven Strait), the leader of the sons with Pogue, Reid, and Tyler (Taylor Kitsch, Toby Hemingway, Chace Crawford) that try to keep their supernatural powers under control.

Things change when a hidden, powerful fifth force threatens the kids at the Spencer boarding school.

There is nothing redeemable about this movie. The action sequences were clunky. You could actually notice that these people were on wires. The dialogue is atrocious. The acting was wooden. The only thing about this movie is the endless sweaty, shirtless scenes with the male cast members.

Judgment: A generic movie that should have a soft-core gay porn flick.

Heute kam sie an, die Schokolade von Kathrin. Nochmal ganz ganz großes Dankeschön (: Mal sehen, ob sie mir heute Abend dabei Gesellschaft leistet, wenn ich Newcomer ankucke und ein bisschen Steven Strait bewundere ( natürlich nur für seine Sangeskünste *husthust* ), ob sie mich bei Supernatural begleitet oder ob sie mit mir in ein Buch schielen darf.

Und apropos Buch: Da ich eh schon zu Hause war, habe ich Band 4 der Midnight Breed-Reihe eingepackt. Diesmal treffen wir auf Journalistin Dylan ( Ohmann, ich hab jetzt schon diese Beverly Hills 90210-Assoziation ) und Wachhund Rio, der nicht mehr wacht, sondern die liebe Dylan lieber in “seine Welt der dunklen Obsessionen” entführt. Woohoo, ich freu mich.

I’m ashamed to say that I noticed this hottie when he was in Sky High as Warren Peace but, it was a certain kids favorite movie that I was forced to watch. Ok…it didn’t take that much forcing. There are so many things I love about this raven haired sex pot that I’ll just name a few. The eyes, the lips, the abs, the arms, the…screw it(literally) I love the whole package. I’m sure his bride of one year Lynn likes it also. She had the same idea going for this young hottie 7 years her junior. Umm…maybe it was growing up in Greenwich that gave him that suave mysterious mystic.

Joyce, la moglie di Vince, è il punto di riferimento della famiglia, ma anche lei in realtà nasconde un segreto.

Aos que gostam do Cine em Cena, segue o post dos cinco filmes da semana. Na verdade criei coragem para ver alguns filmes mais “brutais”. Só para lembrar, a escala é a seguinte: de 0 a 2, não assista – não vale nem R$1,99! 3 é por sua conta, assista e tire sua conclusão. 4 e 5 eu “agarantio”: pode assistir sossegado, vale R$1,99!

Turistas:  ’Turistas’ é um suspense tenso e inquietante que gira em torno de um grupo de jovens viajantes aventureiros. Depois que um terrível acidente os deixa perdidos em uma remota cidade praiana, eles descobrem, aos poucos, que as praias de areia branca e a bela floresta que a cerca escondem um segredo obscuro e cruel.

Nota: não merece, mas aconselho que veja para ter sua opinião sobre o filme. “Turistas” é polêmico. Mostra um Brasil verdadeiro, mas “exagerado aos extremos” – sim pleonasmo! Recordo que na época do lançamento do filme muitos brasileiros se manifestaram a respeito, fizeram muito barulho e ameaçaram boicotar o filme. Engraçado. Se o cenário não fosse real, e sim fictício, até acharia o filme interessante. Mas como mostra o Brasil e faz um belo marketing negativo do país, a reação foi contrária. O filme mostra jovens estrangeiros que vão para o Brasil a procura de sexo, drogas, bebidas e mulheres. Novidade?! Não, minha gente… Isso é real, acontece. Só que, a partir daí, o que acontece na ficção é uma outra história. Exageraram e pegaram muito pesado. Portanto, não merece nota.

Jogos Mortais: Dois homens acordam em um banheiro sujo e deplorável, acorrentados, um em cada canto do local. Em meio à eles, há um corpo de um homem que estourou sua cabeça com uma magnum 44. Eles são vítimas de um serial killer que coloca duas pessoas em situações extremas, para que uma saia viva apenas se matar a outra. Em um jogo de gato e rato, ambos vão descobrindo as pistas para tentar se salvar do jogo desse insano assassino, enquanto descobrem o porquê de terem sido escolhidos pelo tal.

Nota 5. Apesar de não ser muito fã do estilo, achei Jogos Mortais bem interessante, com uma história bem bolada e amarrada. Nota 10 para a atuação de Michael Emerson, o Ben de Lost, que interpreta um enfermeiro na trama. Esse ator é muito talentoso e novamente deu um show. 

Doom – A porta do inferno: Baseado no game de tiro em primeira pessoa mais famoso do mundo, a história é a seguinte: em uma base militar em Marte, uma experiência científica dá errado e acaba abrindo um portal para o Inferno, onde habitam criaturas assustadoras e mortais.

Nota 4. Como também sou fã de games, achei o jogo interessante, mas está longe de se comparar ao ótimo jogo Doom. Tudo bem, comparar filme com game, ou até livro com filme é algo muito, digamos, precipitado. Mas como sou fã de games, já deve imaginar que isso nem sempre é muito claro na minha cabeça. Nas últimas partes do filme deu até aquele “gostinho de game”, mas não tem uma história tão convincente. Talvez por isso não tenha agradado tanto assim. Nota 4 ficou de ótimo tamanho – 4 sem louvor.

10000AC – Ambientado em 10 mil anos antes de Cristo, o filme narra a saga do jovem D’Leh, um caçador de mamutes e sua aventura para liderar um exército na travessia de um vasto deserto, lutando contra tigres dentes-de-sabre e outros predadores pré-históricos. Em sua arriscada missão, o guerreiro e o exército que lidera acaba de encontro a uma civilização perdida, e ele precisa lutar para salvar Evolet, a mulher que ama, das mãos de um temível e maldoso chefe de tribo.

Nota 4. Legal, com bons efeitos sonoros, uma boa história, mas nada tão especial como disseram por aí. De qualquer forma vale a pena ver.

Ladrões de Diamantes: Max Burdett (Pierce Brosnan) é um ex-famoso ladrão de jóias. Aposentado, viaja com sua namorada Lola (Salma Hayek) para uma ilha paradisíaca, para, enfim, gastar o dinheiro que ganhou com seus golpes anteriores. Só que, nessa ilha, há um diamante caríssimo, o único que Max ainda não roubou. Desconfiando que de ele pode estar para dar o seu último golpe, o agente Stanley P. Lloyd (Woody Harrelson) o segue, afim de impedir o provável novo plano.

Nota 2 e nada mais. Em alguns momentos é até legalzinho, mas é mais trucado do que Triplo X. Não aconselho.  É fraquinho!

Bom, é isso… Agora é prepar a pipoca e correr para a frente da TV!

The Trailer: A decent effort, but lacking in real trailer potential.

Around 30 seconds is spent counting down the months from October-January, then telling us ‘Time pass by’, which just wouldn’t fly in any Hollywood promo.

The fact that this trailer was made in May 2008 is more than clear, as there isn’t any footage of Edward, even though the title clearly promises Edward!

Mostly, this is a bunch of title cards, some shots of Kristen Stewart from her various movies and a few snippets of Steven Strait from The Covenant – whom she has cast as Jacob.

The music works, but there is no excuse for a lack of R-Pattz.

Best Bit: Er… the music?

Worst Bit: We were gonna go with the text overlays – “Edward thought Bella is dead”, “Bella must be Superman and save Edward” (Fox News wouldn’t get away with that grammar), but it has to be the complete disregard for Sultan of Swoon™ Robert Pattinson.

The Trailer: Another trailer from 2008, this gets full marks for invention… and Robert Pattinson! Swoon!

The poster has managed to use footage of our Edward from every available source, and thrown it in willy nilly. It doesn’t look like movie footage, but as long as it’s Rob, who cares!

Another trailer that follows the trend of casting Steven Strait as Jacob, this also features former ‘next big thing’ Rachel Leigh Cook as Alice Cullen.

The music is the very famous theme from Requiem For A Dream, and we’re not entirely convinced it works here, though it does give events a dramatic feel, it hardly screams Twilight.

(For an idea of what does scream Twilight, come and hang around the trailbait office when we’re debating what DVD to watch…)

There isn’t much sense of what is going on. In essence it’s a lot of footage, cut together by an MTV junkie into a faced paced music video featuring two of the cast of Twilight.

Not relying on title cards to tell the story is a good thing, but without any title cards, those unfamiliar to The Twilight Saga will be up Crap Creek without a canoe.

Best Bit: R-Pattz – swoon!

Worst Bit: The footage from the Zathura premiere, clearly showing the banners for that movie in the background.

Rating: 5/10 – Good effort for 18 months ago.

3) New Moon Trailer (2009) by smileyfacebecca

The Trailer: Finally, a trailer that has made an attempt at a narrative!

Using footage from the Twilight trailer, and some original footage and dubbing, smileyfacebecca has managed to give a realistic portrayal of the events of New Moon.

Points too for syncronising the footage with the music. As the music builds to a crescendo, so does the video, with slow, lingering shots at the start becoming frenetically paced cuts, with title cards used in brilliant harmony with the beat.

Having been made in December 2008, this trailer has the obvious advantage of footage from Twilight promos, and is the first on this list to cast Taylor Lautner in the role of Jacob.

This uses the same wolf scenes from Blood and Chocolate as the previous entries, along with footage from other films, but it cuts in with such pace and purpose that you’ll forgive any borrowed ideas.

On the downside, the cut finger looks like someone has just dipped a digit in the ketchup.

Best Bit: When Jasper’s eyes go red… Awww Shit! It’s on!

Worst Bit: The overdubbing is very clunky and badly mixed with the score.

Rating: 8/10 With better sound editing this would be a most professional effort.

2) 2009 New Moon movie trailer (fanmade) by kpfan124

The Trailer: This loses marks for stealing a lot of ideas from “Linzellovestwilight”, but gets them all back again for being a much better made trailer!

The same music, many of the same title cards and even the count down from October-January, all present, but with much more pace. More than matching the speed of the music, kpfan124 isn’t wasting a moment of time.

This was made around the time Twilight was released in November, which means plenty of shots of Edward (Yay!), and none of the obvious interview footage in lieu of movie scenes.

Strangely, the poster does cast Steven Strait as Jacob, even though footage of Taylor Lautner was available – but in the video info side bar they explain this is simply because Steven Strait is “hot”…

Overall, this is more of a polish of a previous post than an original job, and though it succeeds on that level, the views this video has received don’t necessarily reflect it’s quality or place on this list.

Best Bit: The shot of the map of Italy, thrown in to let us know that at some point, people go to Italy. Thanks for the heads up.

Worst Bit: A big blow for Team Jacob, as Lautner is overlooked for Steven Strait. Bet kpfan124 wouldn’t do that again now we’ve all seen how ripped Taylor is!

Rating: 6/10 For a video with this many views, it isn’t quite the masterpiece the pervious entry managed, but is a solid effort nonetheless.

The Trailer: Everything about this trailer is a level above, from the music to the editing, to the shot selection and narrative, it is easily the best fan made trailer on the net – a fact reflected by the ridiculous amount of views it has received.

Not to mention the fact that this video was made in July, 2008, which really leaves no excuse for the other trailers made before Twilight was released.

The trailer uses music brilliantly, along with efficient title cards (and a good, bold font) to build the story, drawing us in to Bella’s anguish at Edward’s departure…

Then at the minute mark, everything is cranked up and all of a sudden we’re on a thrill-ride, as Jacob appears and his secret is revealed. Again, footage from Blood and Chocolate is used, but it is used far more effectively than other posts, along with the footage from several other sources.

Okay, so tiffanyd666 uses Steven Strait as Jacob, but concedes she wanted to use Taylor, and would have only for a lack of footage available at the time, but this is a minor flaw in a brilliant product.

The level of editing skill on display is on of the biggest factors, matching music and video for pace, using title cards sparingly and effectively (when the word ‘secret’ is singled out and turns red it is truly impressive trailer making).

Understanding the key to a good movie trailer, which we all should know by now is in giving just enough information to tease, and leaving more questions than you answer, Hollywood would do well to make promos as effective.

Best Bit: The wolf howl over the final title. Really sends a shiver down the spine.

Worst Bit: If we’re being picky, there is a slight sound glitch at the start, oh and no Taylor!

Rating: 9/10 As near an official trailer as the amateurs have given us, and made a full year before the New Moon teaser trailer premiered.

I was just watching Sky High recently, and I realized something. I realized that Steven Strait and Taylor Lautner kinda look alike. To me, what did it for me was that Taylor Lautner and Steven Strait were both shown with long hair in their respective movies. And plus, they both have great smiles. Anyway, the only reason that I can tell them apart is that Lautner is younger looking and has a slightly dark skin tone. All I can say is that if Lautner hadn’t been kept on to reprise his role as Jacob Black for New Moon, I would have suggested for Strait to replace him.

Lovely song, great for chilling by the computer and surfing the net for pictures of your favorite stars.

En ung mammutjägare beger sig ut på jakt efter sin bortrövade älskade och råkar på en rad forntida odjur och folk. Roland Emmerich, som tidigare gett oss bland annat Independence Day och Stargate, har regisserat detta äventyr som enligt titeln ska utspela sig för 12000 år sedan. Nykomlingen Steven Strait spelar den unge hjälten som får hjälp av bland annat Cliff Curtis.

Det blir lite soppa av alla dessa ingredienser. Man måste helt bortse från det man vet gällande historia, olika tidsepoker och geografi för att uppskatta den här filmen. Man ska nog heller inte se den som ett historiskt dokument utan som en saga eller ett äventyr som utspelar sig för länge länge sedan. Gör man det är det en ganska härlig film om den lille, till synes obetydlige, killen som störtar ett helt halvt imperium i kampen för sin älskade. Att filmen kallats pekoral och kalkon, tycker jag är lite överdrivet, men det beror väl också lite på vad man har för förväntningar. Jag hade låga, nästan obefintliga, så jag blev snarare positivt överraskad. Det blir lite matinékänsla och även om det säkert varit onödigt dyrt att producera den här, så tror jag rätt många faktiskt delar min uppfattning och kan underhållas av den.

OK, so, I’ve been a fan of this guy ever since he did the movie, “The Covenant”, with Gossip Girl star, Chace Crawford.  Taylor then went on to do “Friday Night Lights”, but most recently has been getting a lot of press for his role as Gambit in the new movie, “X-Men Origins: Wolverine”.  He is REALLY hot and totally deserving of a Hottie o’ the Day post.  Enjoy!!!

L: We must wear bras on our heads and create the perfect man with my computer using like, Photoshop and my scanner and my iPod. Oh! We can make a perfect guy! And the FA post will read like the words to “Liquid Dreams” or something.

I: EEEE @ our Weird Science project! YES! He’ll totally be a mix of Destiny’s Child, Madonna’s wild style, and Janet Jackson’s smile. I always wondered who the “body like Jennifer” was referring to! Jennifer Lopez? Jennifer Tilley? LOLZ @ O-Town mentioning Jennifer Tilley in one of their songs. E! He’ll be just perfect with a bod like Matthew McConaughey, the brooding intensity of James Franco, the “aw-shucks” niceness of Justin Long + J.Kras + Seth Rogen, the talent of J.Mraz, and the bank account of Ryan Seacrest!

L: I never thought you’d include anything Seth Rogen-related in our perfect man.

I: Tee! I wanted to mention Ryan Seacrest so I figured I’d be nice and even it out with some Seth Rogen qualities.

L: He can have the sensuality of LL Cool J, the artistic integrity of Leonardo DiCaprio, the wit of Paul Rudd, and Ashton Kutcher’s tallness! I hope Oingo Boingo is playing throughout our creative antics.

I: YES! This is sounding like the perfect guy. He’ll have Steven Strait’s eyes and J.Guar’s EARNESTNESS. And then afterward, we take a shower with our perfect man in our socks and shoes.

L: Our male Lisa (like Brian Krakow’s character on “The L Word”!) will also have J.May’s voice, Nick Lachey’s workout routine, and nothing to do with Nick Carter (and his bag of BOOKS!).

I: BWA @ Nick Carter. I wouldn’t use a thing from him! Not even his literary smarts or his BUFF BUFF BUFF-ness. YES to Nick Lachey’s workout regime, but also his all-around helpfulness. I don’t want a pretty boy who can only do me up right, but not fix the garbage disposal. We need it all!

L: YES! I appreciate practicality and usefulness. We should pick a career for Lisa! What do you think? I prefer Lisa not be an actor, since I’d anticipate him lying to me. But that’s just me! And I’ve dated musicians but they can’t love you like they do their music (unless you’re Chris Martin and married to Gwenyth). I want Lisa to do something creative but useful!

I: No, Lisa shan’t be an actor. Too much drama and he’d be all about “MEMEME!” and we can’t have that. Should he be a lumberjack painter? A firefighter who dabbles in short stories? I think whatever Lisa is, it’ll have to be a hybrid of some sort.

L: YES! I support Lisa being a hybrid. (Like he isn’t already.) I think we should put a cap on his fame so he’ll still keep it real and have time to spend with people who know and care about him. MOAN @ a blue-collar gig mixed with sensitive arts! I’d like him to have a masculine day job. I think him dabbling in sculpting and/or photography would be sexy!

I: YES to Lisa being a photographer, which is hotter than a painter on a scale of hot professions, in my opinion.

L: Ee! @ Lisa, our photographer/love slave. This will be our best creative endeavor yet!

Ee! Break out of our friend zone, Steven Strait!

APPEARANCE: 5

I: Steven Strait is like, selectively fine! He looks wonky with short hair, which I would say of almost no one. Long hair suits him for some reason, and I especially prefer the short, low ponytail. He woo’d me in “Undiscovered” with his foxy and EARNEST brown eyes and his hawt mouf/smile and all-around rockin’ bod. He has one of those perfect bottom lips (rivaled only by you-know-who) that kind of pouts out and then there’s like, this sexy curve from his chin to his lip. I do enjoy that feature on a guy!

L: Yeah, I do not approve of him with short hair; it makes him look twelve, which would only be awesome if we WERE twelve. But I think the low ponytail makes him look smoldering. AND THE LIPS! I want them to be my bike seat. I want to peel them off him, smush them together, and press them against a comic strip, that’s how fun they look. He is super hawt when he smiles, and looks like he has long eyelashes. MMMMMMMMMMMMM.

I: Let us not forget that SS has yummy skin that’s all caramelly and amazing. Like hawt maple syrup!

L: EEEE @ his skin! I’d lick it!

L: As for his career, it’s abysmal. It’s sad that his high point(for us) was when he made “Undiscovered” with Ashlee frakking Simpson. “10,000 BC” was a good try — it was intended to be a big summer blockbuster, but we know the route that went. People rave about him being in “The Covenent,” which I’ve never seen because he has short hair in it. Haha. What’s the deal with this band he’s supposedly in — Tribe? I wasn’t crazy about the music he performed in “Undis” but I blame “Undis” for that. I think he should give up movies and learn guitar and become this vagabond musician in the desert, with his low ponytail and unlaced boots. More MMMMMMMMMMMming.

I: I can’t decide if “Undiscovered” is underrated or not. Probably not. Ashlee Simpson and the girl who plays BRIAR make it horrible and Steven Strait is the only part of that movie worth watching. I don’t know what he’d be best cut out for, role-wise. You’d think he couldn’t play a convincing male romantic lead but he does it well. Maybe he should actually veer away from the darker roles that you’d THINK he’d be good in and try his hand at something mainstream and fun and sexy. I think everything he’s been in has been embarrassing. But he began his career as a model and he’s foxy at doing that!

L: I support Steven Strait being the next Mark Ruffalo! I think he’d do nicely as that. Or as the unwashed phenomenon strumming his guitar.

I: Ooh @ Mark Ruffalo! YES! He should embrace his earnestness in roles more and his darkness less. I don’t need to see him doing any kind of witchery or whatever “The Cov” was about. I need to see him knocking on my door in the middle of the night because he can’t stop thinking about nailing me.

L: As for personality, I see him as the nice dude who doesn’t know he’s fine, despite the whole modeling thing. I see him being just like Luke Falcon, all sweet and sexy. But I enjoy seeing him as single and no one understanding why — it’s because he’s waiting for THE ONE!

I: I’m sure his personality is enjoyable! He seems like he’d be very “aw shucksy” in real life and not cause a stir or be all that outgoing. Do we want him at the party? Oh! I enjoy that he’s from NYC proper and grew up in Greenwich Village which probably makes him a bit off-beat and cool.

L: I do want him at the party, but as the boy who’s been pining for me for awhile from afar, but at the party we’re tipsy so we’re more flirty than ever, and we’re getting real close to each other and giggling and everyone else is watching us exist in our own little bubble and are like, “They’re so gonna hook up….” EEE! And he’d be all “Will you be my girlfriend?” like he was in “Undis” when we go outside to be alone. SFJKDJSDF I’m turning into a total GIRL over here.

L: Tee. I think him asking me so sincerely sets him apart from the rest of those chumps. But then I answer him vaguely — silently! — by Frenching him like whoa.

I: I think he’d be a proper boyfriend! He seems like he’d take a relationship really seriously and try hard and whatnot. I also think he’d be hawt x a bil in the boudoir! Do you concur?

j’ai bien l’impression qu’on va avoir droit à une sorte d’X-men 3 mais en légérement mieux -_-. Je vais me refaire la bande annonce de Terminator Salvation pour la peine.

Une trilogie de spot tv viennent d’être diffuser pour la promo de X-Men Origins : Wolverine.

La bande annonce ne m’avait pas plus convaicue que ça de la qualité du film  ( et depuis la vision de cet etron Cthulutique de troisiéme opus, je me mefie) mais la au vue des nouvelles images je réevalue à la hausse le projet.

De plus on à une sacré surprise c’est que mon X-men favorie, à savoir Cyclop, fait partie de la fête.

Par contre Deadpool avec sa tête de beau gosse j’ai du mal.
