Crawford Performance Subaru STi

These are probably the top 2 AWD time attack cars in the states right now. Think of them as our version of the Cyber Evo and Zero/Sports STi. I’m still waiting for Tarzan to get out of the Crawford Perfomance STi and back into his own Tomei/Voltex STi time attack car. Exista multe si diferite argumente in alegerea unei masini. Iar faptul ca Subaru este diferita ar putea fi cel mai bun argument. Pentru ca, cu cat stii mai multe despre Subaru, cu atat esti mai tentat sa te intrebi “De ce nu sunt construite asa toate masinile?”. La volanul unui Subaru traiesti o senzatie absolut unica, de incredere in masina si, pe masura ce ii descoperi calitatile iti ofera un sentiment unic de incantare. Am trait aceste senzatii cand, intalnindu-mi un prieten, am acceptat sa-mi arate masina pe care tocmai si-o cumparase: un Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Nu mai completez decat faptul ca eram in Sinaia deci am trait experienta Subaru pe asfalt, serpentine, macadam si drum forestier.

Astazi am mers intr-un showroom al marcii asa incat iata opinii despre Subaru in general, nu doar despre Impreza. De altfel preferata mea a ramas modelul Outback, o combinatie intre masina sportiva, de familie si business. Ce iese in evidenta la masinile Subaru nu este sistemul de navigatie High Resolution cu DVD, nici sunetul premium cu “n” difuzoare si SRS Circle Surround, sau mufa pentru iPod. Acestea se gasesc si la alte marci. Sub capota se gasesc doua minuni ale tehnicii: sistemul Symmetrical AWD si Subaru Boxer.

Symmetrical AWD (All Wheel Drive) consta in dispunerea simetrica si in linie dreapta a motorului si transmisiei. Puterea lui se transmite catre rori mai simplu si mai direct, creand un echilibru aproape natural si o senzatie de control absolut asupra manevrabilitatii. Iar motorul Subaru Boxer are pistoanele dispuse orizontal si la 180 de grade unul fata de altul, pe ambele laturi ale masinii, realizand un profil mai coborat si mai plat in comparatie cu alte tipuri de motoare. Rezulta un centru de greutate mai coborat, un echilibru mai bun si o stabilitate mai mare la abordarea virajelor. In plus miscarile pistoanelor opuse se contrabalanseaza, contribuind la reducerea vibratiilor.

Dincolo de acestea, celelalte dotari par niste gadgeturi: frana de mana electronica, oglinzi de parasolar iluminate, compartiment de depozitare in plafon sau ventilatie separata pentru zona din spate a masinii. Va recomand asadar ca in limita timpului disponibil sa mergeti sa vedeti masinile sau de ce nu, sa faceti un drive-test, chiar si pentru placerea de a conduce un Subaru.

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday. I headed back up to the Bay Area on Tuesday and had a nice relaxing Thanksgiving with my brother, sister, and girlfriend. I’m hoping to check out the SF Auto Show this weekend before heading back to Irvine next week. In the meantime check out more pictures I found of the ultimate Subaru 22B garage.

I think the dude with this garage owns both of these cars. I guess one is his street car and the other is his garage queen that he can stare at while lounging around in the living room in his garage.

I think the 22B looks pretty dope with those big fog lights.

anyways this is a 2004 wrx with Rota Grids in 18×9.5 +20mm wheels, perfect fit, fake Volk knock-off’s but at less then 1/2 the price who can blame him…… and he is running the rota center caps so it’s not like he’s faking it.

just a gorgeous car all around! very low, black on white wheels, a great stance, and clean. there no big wing, no oem badges, and no stickers. there’s just a small front splitter and a rear diffuser.

to fit wheels like these on a scoobie this low, requires a narrower tire (then a rim this size would normally use), and some very real fender rolling.

Springing med ES i dag. (ES i fint driv. Allerede ymting om 4 Summit…) Det vart langtur, ca 1.45t. Faktisk var jeg redd vi måtte springe veier i dag pga snøfallet de siste dagene. Det var knappe 15 cm med blautsnø i de høgste partia, men det gikk ganske greit. Mesteparten av runden på sti, og utafor Gullikstad faktisk i terrreng! Det er jeg godt fornøyd med på denne tida av året. Mellom riksveien og nedre Gullikstad fann vi  en flott liten downhill-sti for sykkel! Ganske merkelig at ingen har snakka om den. Den skal naturligvis prøves til sommers.

Sommers tid kan en også lete fram ei brukbar sti-lei ute ved elva ved Gulikstad, og da er dette en helt super  runde på 1.30.

Føten var tunge i dag. Kanskje pga skibevegelsene i går. Men etterhvert løsna det. Pratetempo hele tida.

I know the wheels in these pictures lack a little offset but the owner has since bought new shoes for the car. 17″ VR Te37s! If you can get yourself a copy of Vol 70 Hypertune (2007), you’d see how hot the car looks now with the TEs!!!!! It’s tracked regularly at Sepang too so it’s no show car.

Le respect du droit face aux nouvelles technologies, j’en ai lu des articles, dossiers et autres documents, que la publication d’œuvre cinématographique sans autorisation est illégale. Et pourtant je m’y adonne à cœur joie. Tous les moyens sont bons pour avoir du cinéma ou encore des séries télévisées gratuitement et cela en mettant de côté toutes les notions apprises durant ma modeste vie d’étudiante. Mon excuse : c’est une pratique pédagogique qui me permettra de mieux appréhender les nouvelles atteintes au droit d’auteur et puis je ne publie pas, je ne fais que consommer.

Cependant je tiens à préciser qu’en consultant des œuvres sur un site de streaming, je ne prends que de la qualité : une image claire et un son net. Un peu gonflé pour quelqu’un qui est conscient que son acte porte atteinte aux droits de la propriété intellectuelle. Pour d’autre, tous les moyens sont bons pour voir un film en exclusivité, et ce en faisant fi de la qualité audio et vidéo. En effet il est devenu tout à fait normal de trouver sur les sites de streaming des œuvres filmés à l’aide de simple caméscope et mis à la disposition du public. Ces enregistrements sont d’une médiocrité sans équivoque. On y aperçoit l’ombre d’autres téléspectateurs, il arrive d’entre leur voix rendant quasi inaudible le son  du film visionné. Comment est-ce possible de se concentrer sur un film avec des images floues et un son de mauvaises qualités. Toute cette gymnastique visuelle et auditive pour voir un film gratuitement. S’y ajoute, pour celui qui enregistre, la discrétion à respecter pour ne pas se faire prendre. Apparemment, certains sont passés maitre dans cet art, au point de ne jamais se faire prendre.

Pauvre gérant de salle de cinéma !!!! En plus de s’assurer que tous les spectateurs ont payé le prix pour avoir visionné le film en question, ils doivent désormais jouer au gendarme et vérifier si aucun d’eux ne possède un appareil lui permettant d’enregistrer les images qui passent à l’écran. A cela s’ajoute les comptes qu’ils doivent rendre à Hollywood, s’il s’avère que les vidéos prisent proviennent de leur établissement.

Every day is getting exciting in class. Learning is fun and I enjoy the process. Well, the spectrum of everything can reveal itself by discovery. The computer world offers a whole lot deal about everything around you however few only knew computer language. It is amazing! They say there are only 10 people who exist ; those who know Binary and those who don’t.

We recently discussed the changes that have taken place inside Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (NYSE: BRK-A) as Warren Buffett has gone higher up the food chain.  In his more focused and more opaque approach, it also seems that after a $44 billion deal including debt to buy Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corp. (NYSE: BNI) that Berkshire Hathaway needs to further make some changes.  Buffett has been talking on and off about a whale of a deal, and that is what we got with the BNSF buyout.  Berkshire Hathaway Inc. lists 51 different subsidiary links inside the Berkshire Hathaway umbrella that are wholly owned or dominantly owned subsidiaries.  There are also more than 40 public US-listed stock holdings in there, and that is before you get into his preferred shares, convertible debt instruments, and debt for deal financing in big public companies.

We have taken a review of the Full Buffett Holdings and come up with a geared down version of his holdings here.  Some of these ‘encouraged’ sales are because of fundamental changes, and some are merely because they are too small to be a benefit even if they tripled in price.  Some are also a follow-on for action he has already taken or already hinted at.

ConocoPhillips (NYSE: COP) is an obvious exit in the oil patch.  Buffett wants continued exposure to oil, and there are better ways to get exposure for Mr. Buffett.  He has investigated the Canadian oil sands projects, and he eventually buckled to pressure to sell Chinese oil stocks.  But Buffett targeted ConocoPhillips already all on his own for sale and said he would selectively sell as a tax offset even if it rises. It was also lowered in scope over the last quarter and the recent addition of Exxon Mobil Corp. (NYSE: XOM) was the right call he should have made in the first place.  Conoco is now at a $78 billion market cap, yet Buffett cam much more easily hide Exxon with almost an unlimited amount of funds as it has a market cap north of $359 billion and is the #1 position in the 24/7 Wall St. Real-Time 500.  Buffett could get his hands on almost $3 billion for the share sale at current levels.

Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI) is one we cannot figure out why he still has in the portfolio other than being ‘long and wrong.’  He has panned newspapers, and the rest of media is challenged still.  At 3.447 million shares, this is also worth a whopping $35 million today.  The notion that this used to be worth 5-times and 8-times more is largely irrelevant now.  The Washington Post Co. (NYSE: WPO) might actually be hard for Buffett to exit because volume is so light.  He might just be stuck with it, and its education business may offset the newspaper business.  But his 1.72 million share stake could raise $700 million today if it could be unlocked.

Moody’s Corp. (NYSE: MCO) is one that was undergoing a game-changing trend for two years before Buffett decided to start lightening up.  The business is no longer in the same right nor with the same future as it once had.  Buffett wants companies with a “forever timeline” and that is just not in the cards any longer.  Ask this… How does the future of Moody’s compare now to how it was running 5 years ago?  No matter how you cut it, Moody’s has a much less dominant role and one under much more regulation and under more public scrutiny.  We interpreted his recent comments that he’s probably exiting this one anyway…. $900 million is here.

Then there is the train and rail competition.  Buffett has already indicated the sale of competing interests in the rail arena.  That takes the 1.933 million shares of Norfolk Southern Corp. (NYSE: NSC) and the 9.55 million shares of Union Pacific Corp. (NYSE: UNP) off the table.  That was roughly $640 million at the last look.  But there is an interesting take here that has not been discussed.  If Buffett really wants to communicate the value of the rail transportation business, he could also dump his 1.429 million shares of United Parcel Service, Inc. (NYSE: UPS).  That stake is only worth $80 million today, and he could kill two birds with one stone: clean up a small sub-$100 million position and make the effort to further show that rail is the best transport sector to own.

On the healthcare front, Buffett has already decided to lighten up on his health insurance operators. UnitedHealth Group, Inc. (NYSE: UNH) was listed as 3.4 million shares, down from 4.5 million in the prior quarter.  Wellpoint Inc. (NYSE: WLP) was listed as 3.394 million, down slightly from 3.5 million last quarter.  But that Wellpoint stake is also down from 4.7773 million shares in Q1.  Buffett might have been an Obama-backer, but he is lightening up in these health insurance stocks.  The only reason he might not be out entirely is either because of ‘hope’ or for goodwill in D.C.  He would raise about $280 million now by unloading these, and he’d surprisingly be able to do it at close to 52-week highs in these two.

GlaxoSmithKline plc (NYSE: GSK) and Sanofi-Aventis (NYSE: SNY) are technically not Buffett’s picks on his own.  It is unlikely that Buffett needs these as a source of funds.  And we do not anticipate a sale from Buffett here.  These could generate more than $200 million if they are exited.  Again, we do not expect these to be sold even though they do not fit in on the Buffett scale today.

Ingersoll-Rand Plc (NYSE: IR) is one that we think is one already on the way out and is probably already gone. He cut the stake way down, and this is worth about $23 million at today’s price.  This isn’t worth Buffett’s time, so we won’t make worth wasting our time nor your time with anything more.

SunTrust Banks, Inc. (NYSE: STI) is just over 3 million shares, so almost $70 million today.  This may be sentimental or for posterity’s sake, and in all fairness is not one we are picking on.  But with a similarly small Bank of America Corp. (NYSE: BAC) stake, the stake size could be more easily grown in BofA if he chooses.  Buffett’s recently increased stake in Wells Fargo & Co. (NYSE: WFC) being worth close to $8 billion and the other banks and lenders already held make this seem to be an easy stock to relinquish.

There are two positions in public insurance holdings that either need to be added to or need to be elminated.  Frankly, Buffett has more than enough insurance exposure all the way through the private portfolio.  The Torchmark Corp. (NYSE: TMK) is in individual life and supplemental health insurance products and the 2.8 million share stake is worth just under $120 million today.  The Travelers Companies, Inc. (NYSE: TRV) was such a small stake that Buffett may have changed his mind or just got caught having his broker start buying in the last 15 minutes of the last day of the quarter.  This is literally a $1.3 million stake.  But it is now a DJIA component and I think Warren wants to show he wants to hold the better quality public stocks.  Our guess is that this will be a larger stake ahead.  If not, he just needs to sell it so that people covering Buffett can ignore it.

Will Buffett sell all these positions? No, of course not. He holds on to positions in many cases until long after they have stayed their welcome in the Buffett house.  But some he has started selling and many seem unlikely compared to the rest of his portfolio.  Many of these either do no longer fit in size nor in practice for his ‘forever’ model.  After tallying all these stakes up mentioned here, Buffett could also use $6 billion to use for funding that BNSF buyout or that he could use to buy what he has always wanted…. A utility.

El Subaru Rally Team Spain realizó una sesión de test en Campoo de Enmedio, donde los pilotos Enrique García Ojeda y Javier Polidura tuvieron la última toma de contacto con los Impreza STI de cara al Rallye SHALYMAR, que se disputa este fin de semana en Madrid.

Well today I learned a plethora of information that not only shocked and appalled me, but moved me SO much so, that I felt the need to write a blog post about it.

In my Health and Fitness class today we went over STDs, which have now been given the politically correct name of STI because a disease is something with clear, diagnosable symptoms and in terms of STIs, “once infected, a person may or may not develop signs or symptoms indicative of disease”.

Now, I’m not exactly 100% sheltered. I grew up in public school and did indeed get to cover sex ed., what an STD is, how to practice “safe sex”, etc., etc. I even had a pretty good idea of what kinds of STDs are out there: gonorrhea, syphilis, genital warts, HIV/AIDS, chlamydia, etc. This, I would venture, is fairly common knowledge. However, the things that my professor (who is a reliable source and has a doctorate in kinesiology), was telling us today in class, I for one had never heard before. I’m going to basically rattle off a series of the facts that I found to be most shocking. The purpose of this is really only to spread awareness, truth, and to really see what common society actually knows about sex and STD/STIs. If I’m not the norm in being shocked by these things, please let me know, but really, my first reaction to most of what I will list was simply, “Wow……..”

- Gonorrhea and chlamydia can cause arthritis, sterility, and gonorrhea can cause heart problems

- Generally only 20% of people infected with STIs show symptoms

- You can get infected an endless amount of times with any bacterial STI, and viral STIs will never go away

- Stage 4 Syphilis can cause heart disease, blindness, insanity, and brain damage. The previous stage has absolutely no symptoms at all

- You can contract syphilis from kissing

- Most people infected with HIV won’t show symptoms for 10-12 years

- The HIV virus generally cannot be detected from 2 weeks up to 6 months, and even a test cannot be fully negative until tested periodically for one year

- For this last point, I’ll just post a link to something called a “Sexual Exposure Chart”. Now, as the site explains, this chart is assuming that the people you’ve slept with have also slept with the same number of people. I suppose I just wonder how many people have slept with 12 people, because if those 12 people also slept with 12 people, you’re looking at quite the number, but I’ll let you see for yourself……. http://www.sm12tlk2.com/sexual-exposure-chart.html

Now, the point of this, again, is to just shed some light on a subject we’re completely surrounded by in the world. So, take a look, think about the fact that STDs are on the rise in America, despite the use of Sex Ed., and that about 75% of the time you may not even have symptoms to know you are infected.

Just think about it.

Looks like tino’s built motor that I was discussing last week has found it’s new home.

Idag gikk jeg Skjevdalslia, til Langtjønna innom Skjevhøgda, videre til Klettvollen og Løvnesbua. En tanke var å finne ut om noe vistes etter koje innmed Langtjønna. Men egentlig visste jeg det var for mye snø til å lete.

Opplysningene om koja har jeg  fra Ivar Skjevdal: Inne ved Langtjønna skal finnes rester av koje og stall som Måsså-Jørn satte opp. Han var frå Tørresvollen i Hitterdalen. Hele tjønna skal ligge i allmenning. Skjevdalen eier bare en spiss ned i tjønna. Måsså-Jørn tok måsså  her, og solgte “på Gaten”. Han brukte kjør-okse, og den fikk losjere i stallen. Dette var bare helt enkle krypinn. Restene skal ligge i nordenden av tjønna.

Jeg så ikke noe av dette. Og det var for mye snø. I en dal var satt en stein til varde; kanskje et merke? Til sommers skal jeg lete mer, med utgangspunkt Gjetbergsvollen.

Kafferasten ble tatt i ly for vinden nede ved Nausterbekken.

Klettvollen vart rydda av Hans-Morten Sollie. Ivar huska at det var rydda voll framafor og nedover for husa. Hans-Morten måtte gå ifrå, pga at eiendomsforholda neppe var avklart da han starta opp her. Skåkåsingan eide grunnen.

I alle fall to hus har stått her. Turiststien går egentlig bent over tunet. Den observante ser kjellerhølet!

Kjelleren under seterbua er helt inntakt, pent mura, med et lite glas mot dalen. Det er pipe og nisje for omn i kjelleren, så den er nok brukt som eldhus. Spettet og spadet til Hans-Morten står igjen.

Nedafor murene etter husa, finner vi en stor stengard.  Hans-Morten må ha kommet nokså langt med vollen sin. Og så ble det ingenting av det… All bjørka ovafor steingarden er innpå vollen, og viser hvor gjengrodd det er. Det var her Ivar Skjevdal huska åpen voll for kanskje 70 år sia.

Løvnesbua ligger også på Skåkåseiendom. Pent restaurert for noen år sia, der en også tok vare på enkelte gjenstander fra bua.  Bua var vel brukt i måssåtaking, og ved myrslått. Den ble satt opp i 1914.

Bua var varm da jeg kom, og glør i omnen.

Looks like Do-Luck is getting ready for Super Lap Battle next month. Their insane bugeye STi has been rumored to be competing this year. I really hope the car makes a showing. It’s been too long since bugeyes dominated the tarmac at Tsukaba.

I’d never rock a wing like this on my daily, but it looks great on this dude’s car!

I love car pictures with fall foliage in the background. I really wish we had leaves like this in California.

L-Schlegs’ engine bay is clean. If you don’t remember his car, its basically the cleanest GRB in the states right now. I’m loving how everything is painted to match. Reminds me a lot of the Ken Block car, nicely done, I bet this thing hauls.

Citoyens numérique, aujourd’hui, je me baladais sur le net au désespoir d’un sujet pour cette semaine, quand tout a coup j’ai lu ”on réclame 15 millions d’Euro”. Pardi ! en voila une somme que je réclamerai bien, et cliquant sur le lien je vois en grand le mot maitre du savoir numérique…GOOGLE.

15 millions d’Euro, c’est pas moins ce que demande quelques éditeurs à ce géant qui aurait mis en ligne leurs œuvres sans consultation. Et tout d’un coup je me suis dis ”OUAH le choc des mondes !”

D’un coté les librairies, l’odeur du papier, le son des feuilles qui au gré de nos lecture se tournent et se cornent, de l’autre coté, le pouvoir numérique, le flux continue d’internaute venant s’allaiter au sein de mère Google. Ces éditeurs brandissent leurs lois toujours plus complexes dans un monde numérique que Google lui même simplifie, l’imprimerie face au numérique. (l’an 1450 face a l’an 2000)

Mais d’un coup, je m’effraie! Ne serions-nous pas aveugler par la puissance et l’efficacité de Google? Ne sommes-nous pas en train de nous reposer a l’ombre d’un géant?

Pendant que moi dans ma petite soirée je saisie quelques mots pour vous sur ce blog, Google s’empare de villes entière avec Google streetview.  Comme j’ai lu sur un forum un commentaire disant: ”avant on pouvait savoir ou me cambrioler avec google map, maintenant on va savoir comment le faire avec googlestreet”.

Je n’ai que des questions sur ce cas étrange, et la dernière est : ”a t-on réellement un pouvoir de négociation face à ce monstre bienveillant, et que se passera t-il si un jour Google censurait la culture qu’il dévore?”

D’un coup je ferme la page avec l’idée que Google procède peut être à un monopole de la culture et que dans un avenir proche son Pdg  pourra dire :”le droit numérique…c’est moi”
