7. Two Italian border stitches at right angles worked as steps, is the first row. Instead of working this stitch straight, I tried twisting it in the second row. I like this variation.

1. In the first row, the stitch is worked at an angle, which is not distinctly clear, because of the twisting of the thread. In the second row, the starting point of the second stitch is the midpoint of the first stitch, makes this line more compact.

2. the basic stitch is worked at different lengths, and this is alternated and repeated throughout the first row. The varying length of the stitches are worked to form a pattern in the second row.

This stitch sampler is thus completed. This stitch is an easy and beautiful decorative stitch. I did not explore this stitch very well.

The details-
1. While working the first three, I had no idea what was going on! The next few are combined with chain stitch, fly stitch and oyster stitches.

2.The other stitches are buttonhole , zigzag back and whipped wheel .

3. Cast on stitches worked with Algerian eye stitch, and then, two experiments of cast on stitches were bravely attempted

4.first one is another way to use this cast on stitch. Cast on stitches worked with buttonhole wheel variation and feather stitch.

5. herringbone ,Cretan, closed buttonhole and up and down buttonhole stitches are combined with cast on stitches in this part of the sampler.

Though it is a wonderful stitch, I need lots of practice to actually use this stitch on any embroidery projects.

7.detached chain stitches are worked on the longer stitches in the first row. This stitch is whipped with copper thread in the second row.

8. after adding beads to the knotted loop stitch in the first row, and with the chain stitch curve ,the stitch is worked horizontally to form a leaf pattern .

9. the same stitch variation as leaf patterns continue and are worked with herringbone stitch and stem stitch in the first two rows. I tried bringing the needle four or five times out from the same hole ,this working as fan is repeated as line stitch in the last row.

I was surprised by the variation worked in the last row. the knots produce a braided effect, which makes the stitch more decorative.

Though an easy stitch, the knots had to be fixed to make them neat. Most of the time I did not care to do that, so my stitches are not uniform. This is still a lovely stitch which gives scope for experiments.

3. A variation of Pekinese stitch is worked over the quirky knotted loop stitch in the first row. this stitch combined with knotted buttonhole stitch forms the second row.

5.first row this stitch is combined with cable chain stitch. After working a variation of the stitch, Zigzag back stitches are worked as borders in the second row. The third row is also a variation of this stitch with herringbone stitch line worked with non co-operative copper thread!

The details-
1.knotted loop stitch is worked over a line of Cretan stitch in the first row. individual knotted loop stitches with running stitch is the experiment in the second row. Individual knotted loop stitches done as a square and fly stitches are worked on both sides in the third row.

Details-
4. in the first row, the first part of the double chain is worked away from the twisted chain. Running stitch lines ,border the linked double chain stitches in the second row.

5. individual set of double chains and twisted chain are worked to form a border, a line of chain stitch is worked over them in the first row. Individual set of twisted chain and double chain are worked as isolated stitches to form the second row.

6.pink pearl beads are worked over the twisted chain in the first row, fly stitches and oyster stitches are worked over a line of linked double chain in the second row.

Though this stitch was an easy one to work, I was not inspired to do more experiments of this stitch. And the 32nd week’s  cast on stitch awaits me!

The details-
5. The hedebo stitches are worked with a bead in between in the first row, and this group is repeated to form a seam
The cross stitches are worked in one[dark pink] thread and the hedebo stitches are worked in green thread in the second row, to see this distinction, the beads are worked over the hedebo stitches.
Single hedebo stitch with two beads is worked between two hedebo stitches in the third row.

It was interesting to learn a new stitch and try the variations. Though not an easy stitch, it looks quite decorative and will surely enhance any embroidery work. Choosing the right needle and thread are very important. I enjoyed working on this sampler,
Now, I need to catch up on those missed stitches.

1. I tried this stitch in this first row, I don’t know why the stitch  keeps curling! [maybe too much tension?]

2. Alternate stitches are worked on square crosses, which narrows them a little bit.

3. Two hedebo stitches are worked together in the first row, and wide stitches are worked with three beads in between in the second row.

Hope I get more ideas for variations . This stitch takes some time to work though!

The details-
4. The stitch is worked horizontally in the first row, and the tying stitch is done on top, instead of the centre .
Combining sheaf stitch with other stitches, detached chain stitches are worked between sheaf stitches in the second row, a line of chain stitch is worked over sheaf stitch line in the third row, and herring bone stitch and Cretan stitch are worked over sheaf stitch variation in the fourth row.

5. in the first row, straight stitches are worked in two colours and tied in threes . sheaf stitch is worked in two colours in the second row.

6. The straight stitches are worked in V-shape and are tied down in the first row, I like this version. Green stitches are tied with pink pearl beads to form sheaf stitches in the second row.

As mentioned on my last post, this was an easy stitch to work. This looks similar to butterfly chain stitch, but the tying chain and the continuous stitching are absent on this stitch. This can be used as isolated stitch .

Maybe, I ‘ll start to work on  40^th week stitch and then get back to the other missed stitches.

1. Trial of this stitch in the first row, long and short version of the stitch in the second row, and the wide and narrow version in the third row.

2.Small version of this stitch worked to create a filling pattern in the first row, the horizontal version of sheaf stitch in the second row, and the horizontal and vertical versions alternated in the third row.

3.The length of the straight stitch in the middle is extended and varied in the first row, the sheaf stitch line is laced with green thread in the second row, and the corner straight stitches are worked longer in the third row.

7. Still in the process of combining this stitch with other stitches, the first row is a combination of buttonhole stitch and knotted buttonhole stitch, and bullion knots and French knots are worked over the knotted buttonhole stitches. The second row is the combination of this stitch with detached chain stitch.

8. The first row is unsuccessful combination of feather stitch variation and knotted buttonhole. In the second row, this stitch is combined with chevron stitch. The third one, two rows of knotted buttonhole stitches worked together.

9.The first row is worked with bugle beads, in the second row, the knotted buttonhole stitch is whipped in dark pink thread.

This was easy stitch to work. Initially I thought it resembled up and down buttonhole stitch, after starting this stitch, realised this was not so.
This knot also helps to keep the stitch in its place, sometimes the buttonhole stitches tend to slide from their position, when the stitch angles vary. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this sampler. I need to catch up on previous week stitches.

5. knotted button hole is worked with other stitches in these rows. The first row- pistil stitch, detached chain stitch and fly stitch are worked over a row of knotted buttonhole. The second row, the stitch is combined with closed buttonhole stitch. The third row, herringbone is combined with this stitch.

The details-
1. First row is the basic knotted buttonhole stitch, the second row is the shorter version of the stitch and the third row is the long and short version of the stitch. Fourth row is done with two threads.

2. The bigger knotted buttonhole stitches are worked over the smaller knotted buttonhole stitches in the first row, the second row is also similar except, the bigger atitches are worked between the small stitches. The third row is the zigzag version of the stitch.

3. In the first row, this stitch is worked in a curve, in the second row , the second buttonhole stitch is longer than the first one on the top[ does not look appealing, though] the third row, the short and long buttonhole stitches are knotted together at the base.

9. Pekinese stitch is worked on half chevron stitch in the first row, and both sides of the cross stitch line is worked in pekinese stitch, I liked this treatment.

10. In the first two rows, I used fly stitches and detached chain stitches to elongate alternate curves of Pekinese stitch. Last row is a combination of pekinese stitch and Cretan stitch.

Though this stitch was simple, it was time consuming to work the basic back stitch for all rows. It was hard to maintain the tension in the beginning , later it became manageable. Enjoyed working on this stitch sampler.

These variations of Pekinese stitch are combinations with other stitches.
5. Individual herringbone stitches are worked between two rows of Pekinese stitches in the first row, and Pekinese stitch is worked over herringbone stitch in the second row.

6. In these two rows, Pekinese stitches are worked with basque stitch and bonnet stitch.

7. In the first row, Pekinese stitch is worked over buttonhole stitch and again a row of pekinese stitch is done under the buttonhole stitch, and the circles of alternate stitches are lengthened with the buttonhole stitch bars.
The second row, is trial of individual Pekinese stitches done at an angle. Not very successful though!
