I don’t often buy Real Living Magazine but their latest Christmas Issue looked great when I had a quick flick through at the newsagency so I grabbed a copy. Its got some nifty Christmas ideas and a couple of interesting houses. I’m going to scan and feature my favourite homes from each homewares/interiors mag that I read – here is my first one!

This gorgeous apartment is in one of my fave Sydney suburbs – Bellevue Hill – and the general look & feel is so similar to my aesthetic style (note: a healthy dose of Ikea mixed with original art, simple Scandinavian elements, a splash of colour and some key designer pieces) I love it! Enjoy…

Det å finne en stol som både ser bra ut og er komfortabel er en utfordring. Men plutselig åpenbarte denne Stokke stolen seg. Det er bare å spare, for denne stolen er selvskreven i det nye huset.

The toy store magic beans is giving away a Stokke Tripp Trapp chair. My bros and I had these in red growing up, now Tex and Theo share a more sedate walnut hued chair, and maybe, if I win this, they’ll both have their own. . . You should enter too, if you have a Tripp Trapp size child or friend with one.

Después de unas semanas de espera, ayer por fin llegaron un montón de paquetes con unas letras grandotas en las que ponía Stokke, ¡y eran todos para mí! ¡Aún no he nacido y ya me han llegado mogollón de regalazos! Creo que esto me gusta… Papá y mamá se pusieron también muy contentos y me explicaron que era mi cochecito y los muebles para mi habitación… ¡ole!

Primero montaron el cochecito, que se llama oficialmente “Stokke Xplory“. Montaron tanto la sillita que utilizaré cuando sea un poco más mayor como el capazo en el que iré los primeros meses. ¡Me encanta el color verde que escogieron! (será que con papás como los míos, yo he salido parecido, porque tampoco me gustan demasiado los típicos rosas o azules…). Después de montarlo estuvieron un rato “practicando”: no pararon de tocar palancas y opciones para aprender a utilizarlo correctamente. Que si sube la barra para papá, que si bájala para mamá, que si sube el capazo, que si baja el capazo, que si ponlo a dos ruedas, que si frénalo… Creo que se lo pasaron en grande,

Después montaron el cambiador, llamado “Stokke Care“. Les costó un poco más, pero entre la ayuda de mamá y las ganas y fuerza de papá consiguieron montarlo bastante rápido… ¡y eso que éste sí que venía a trozos!  La verdad es que voy a estar súper a gusto en ese cambiador, porque es muy grandote y tiene mucho espacio para guardar mis cositas… ¡me encanta!

Y finalmente, a pesar de que papá estaba molido, montaron también mi minicuna llamada “Stokke Sleepi Mini” y guardaron lo que necesitarán en un futuro, cuando yo sea más mayor y me pasen a una cama un poco más grande, jejejejee. La cuna les resultó bastante fácil de montar (aunque el pobre papá estaba ya cansadísimo, porque mamá intentaba ayudarle, pero claro, yo peso lo mío ) y una vez montada, mamá se dedicó a ponerle las sábanas y las mantitas… ¡ya está lista para mi llegada!

Y no veáis, la cunita tiene una pinta de ser más cómoda… Ya sé que como dentro de mamá no voy a estar en ningún otro sitio, pero bueno, va a ser lo más parecido!

Ahora les falta ordenarlo todo en mi habitación, pero me han dicho que todavía no pueden porque dentro de dos semanas vienen los tiets Edu i Neus, así que hay que dejarles espacio en mi habitación. Bueno, vale, pero después ya lo organizáis todo, eh?! Que yo a los tiets les quiero mucho pero mi habitación es mi habitación!

Pero sé que lo van a hacer pronto, si sólo hay que verles, que se les cae la baba inspeccionando los muebles:

Min nya (halvnya) svarta Mac book har stått i en bokhylla sen jag fick hem den. Jag har stått oh skrivit. Alternativt suttit i soffan och skrivit. (Japp – den soffan, den sönderhoppade.)

Men i helgen röjde vi. I morse konstaterade vi att saker nu var flyttade – men så röjda var de inte. De allra flesta pryttlarna är kvar, bara på andra platser än förut.

Och skräprummet  som hyst gamla foton, en icke nyttjad säng, en extra dörr och en massa pysselgrejer är nu tomt sånär som på en klädstång full med skjortor, en tjock-TV och ett avdankat skrivbord (designat för stationär PC, inte laptop, med hylla för skärmen…)

Och – min älskade gamla röda Stokke-stol, en sån där man sitter med knäna uppdragna så att ryggen får vila.

Unsexy? As if I care. I love it. My back loves it.

Detta spartanska rum går nu under benämningen kontor. Mitt kontor.

A few Sunday’s ago I decided that I would not let my cold get the better of me so I dragged myself and my growing bump over to Earl’s Court to have a ’sniffle’ at what the Baby Show had in store for us. 

I’m just four weeks off throwing my baby shower so perfect timing – shame I forgot to bring mum to drop in a few hints for Christmas pressies.  Nethertheless I strolled on through the maze of colourful stands doning just about anything baby related. 

From magic nappies, handcrafted bibs, stylish slings, organic baby grows and funky gadgets to the latest in cots and swish buggies even specialists in baby language I kid you not!

The Baby Show is what it says on the tin – the UK’s largest parenting event – with over 300 exhibitors under one roof how could I not expect to be – well – baby bewildered if Im honest with you. If this didn’t give me nappy brains as they call them, nothing else will.  My intention was to have a browse at a few products that had caught my eye recently including  those very first important yet challenging purchases as a mum to be like choosing a suitable stroller.

From push..chair to shove – As I meandered the aisles of the cot and pram stands, the Stokke Sleepi catches my eye.  This designer cot  turns into just about everything – ‘Impressive’ but these days that expression comes with a hefty price tag as do all Stokke products.  The sales guy manages to lure me into a sales spiel on the Stokke Xplory.  In case you havent heard of it – it’s the stroller which looks more like something from the set of Star Wars – but remarkable in what it can do. I must say that after 15 minutes of  ‘rotating’ and ‘innovating’ I was almost sold.   Not my cup of tea if Im honest I see myself pushing a Cosatto and I managed to fall in love with the cute brown Cabi 3 in 1 Combi ‘Walk in the Park’.  Must make a note to hint that to the OH.

As I continued to wonder wide-eyed in between a sea of prams and bumps there seemed to be so much to touch, smell and buy that I could barely contain myself.

Along my little adventure I managed to find a few useful things like Raspberry Leaf Tea.  You can only drink it in large quantities i.e. 6 cups a day once you are 37 weeks in.  Apparently its supposed to help ease  you into labour if you are a tad late. I will let you know.

Yummy tummy – The first thing on my shopping list was a Yummy Mummy  Tummy - a lycra band which fits neatly around your bump and which you can sport from early pregnancy to post-pregnancy.  It not only covers your tum up allowing you to wear your pre-pregnancy clothes for longer but it also keeps loose maternity pants up (something I had issues with) and discreet tummy cover whilst breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding Butterflies – On the subject of breastfeeding, I found Fayeandlou.co.uk who introduced me to the breastfeeding butterfly. Unlike other scarves I’ve seen out there this one generously ties to the one shoulder so that you have less pressure around your neck and it also covers the back and tummy area nicely.  It’s available in various patterns and colours.

And…Stretch – Another thing I discovered recently is perineum oil, apparently if you massage this stuff  into your perineum area (that’s down below) you have less chance of tearing during the birth.  Obviously I couldnt test this on the stand but I was nevertheless impressed at the gorgeous packaging and smells coming from the  selection of beauty products on display on the Boo Boo stand including their perineum oil.  A nice idea for baby shower gifts.

Say hello to the world – With baby arriving in no less than 10 weeks now (if he lands us on my due date that is) I have been thinking about birth announcements. Jane Press creates some gorgeous little prints for you to send out after the birth, all you need to do is provide details and picture.  Although I am very creative myself Im sure I will be far too busy to be gluing and writing birthing announcement cards to send out to my loved ones after I give birth.

If I’ve learnt something from my little baby show adventure it’s that shopping for a buggy these days is like buying a car.  There is talk of wheels, manoeuvrability and I wouldnt be surprised if there was finance available for buggies out there.  Exploring all the baby products not only allowed me to make my first few steps into ‘nappy land’ but it made me realise that despite all the consumer pressure modern-day mums have to face whether its choosing the make and model of your stroller to picking out a brand of nappies it has eased me into motherhood something I feel is going to be a truly wonderful experience.

Durante estas dos semanas en las que mamá ha estado bajita, digoooo, de baja, papá y mamá han aprovechado para comprarme cositas durante sus paseos diarios.

Me compraron el balancín Baby Björn en verde, un saco para ir calentito en el capazo cuando nazca, sombrilla para el cochecito en verano, sábanas, mantas y protege-cunas, tapicería para mi silla Tripp Trapp, un bolso-cambiador para el cochecito y ropita para cuando nazca.

Además también han cmprado un armario de Ikea para mi habitación (están montándolo) y todo el mobiliario de Stokke, claro (hubo un problema con el pedido y llegará todo dentro de un par de semanas), así que espero que mi habitación vaya cogiendo forma entonces…

Les quedan todavía muchas cosas por comprar, pero poco a poco que todavía tienen tiempo…

Jeg var en tur innom Stokke bibliotek forrige dagen og de driver aktivt med utlån av kunst også. Det er det ikke mange bibliotek som gjør. De har en grei samling og på bildet ser du litt av hva de har å tilby.

El jueves papá y mamá fueron a unos grandes almacenes a comprar cositas para mí. Desde el periscopio ombliguil, vi que se trataba de la “quincena del bebé” y que ofrecían un 15% de descuento. Yo no sé lo que significa eso, la verdad, pero papá y mamá iban con los números aprendidos y cuando vieron el precio de todo lo que querían contar con ese descuento, ¡hicieron el pedido! Y yo venga a darle pataditas a mamá, para que se enteraran de qué colores me gustaban a mí, jejejeeje:
