1. Over trading

4. Over Confident

9. Trading by Moment

It’s Veteran’s Day and everybody is finding their own way to honor the men and women who have and are currently serving in the armed forces. This morning, Bon Jovi performed at Rockefeller Center in NYC and invited all local military personnel, their families and civilian volunteers to come be a part of the festivities.

While we aren’t all Bon Jovi and can’t show our support through a rock concert (unless they want to watch me play RockBand), there are plenty of things we can do to show our appreciation for the troops.

1. Have a veteran in your family? Call or sit down with them and ask them about their service. Chances are they’ll have a lot of stories to share, and your interest in their life is probably the greatest gift you could give them on this day.

And then take them for a meal at Applebee’s. Veterans and active duty military eat free today! I’m sure if you ask nicely they will share their Triple Chocolate Meltdown with you.

2. Move past your usual gray shirt/black sweatpants class uniform and get a little more patriotic today. Don a little red, sport a little blue or, if you’re feeling especially grateful to our men in uniform, pick up something that shows some real American pride.

3. Pop some kettle corn and settle in for a hottie veteran movie marathon. Pearl Harbor, Jarhead, Stop-Loss…. the possibilities are endless. And maybe you can finally answer the age old question: Ben Affleck or Josh Hartnett? It’s tough, I know.

4. Send a care package to troops on duty. In high school, I went through a program and “adopted” a soldier. I would send him letters and packages from time to time and I may have pretended he was my boyfriend for awhile. Totally normal. Sadly, my duties as pen pal have since fallen by the wayside, but today I think I might rekindle our romance friendship and show my appreciation via shaving cream and beef jerky.

5. Before you chug that beer at Dollar Pitcher Night take a moment, reflect and pour one out to honor our American heroes.

Big or small, do something to honor the men and women who risk their lives preserving our safety, our land and our freedom. Veterans, we salute you!

Betyg: 4

By John Bermingham, Vancouver Province. October 19, 2009

U.S. army deserter Rodney Watson has become the first fugitive from service in Iraq to enter church sanctuary in Canada. Monday morning, the 31-year-old told reporters he has been living in refuge at the First United Church in Vancouver since Sept. 18. “I don’t believe it will be just for me to be deported,” said Watson, flanked by church ministers and supporters. Watson lost his refugee claim on Sept. 11, and was expecting to be deported back to the U.S., where he faces jail for refusing to do a second tour of duty in Iraq.

Ric Matthews, minister with the First United Church, said Watson has an apartment at the church, and is fed on-site. Watson cannot leave the grounds of the church. Matthews said the church agreed to let Watson take refuge because it doesn’t support the Iraq War, or the way the U.S. military treated Watson — who signed up to be a military cook, but was ordered to find explosives.

“We expect the authorities will continue to respect this place as a place of sanctuary,” he said.

Army Spc. Dustin Stevens, Ft. Bragg NC. October 26, 2009

We have a victory in this whole mess I think. Pictures of the living conditions of Echo Platoon have leaked out causing them to send us all to different units to await our fate. A Colonel told us that the system was broken and that it has been since 2006. He said that the living conditions were horrible and he was sorry that they got that bad. So we had to move to different units, separated from each other and thrown back into the Army for real this time. Echo Platoon is no more but I feel that we are still being punished. We are forced to “be soldiers” now. That is something that I have not known how to be for almost eight years now. Yes the living conditions are better but that was only a fraction of the problem.

Keeping us here for months at a time with no pay and no clue is wrong, plain and simple, we are human beings. The way I and many like me have lived for 10 months is that of a wild animal. No one, I mean no one, should ever be treated the way that we have been treated. It took 2 months for me to get my pay started, 8 months for them to read my charges to me and 10 months to tell me something I have known for 10 months (that we live in poor conditions). But it only took 3 hours to give almost 60 soldiers orders to other units.

The barracks were unfit for even a dog to live in. The treatment by the cadre made us feel invisible. Paperwork was lost, or not done at all and no one gave a damn because “we shouldn’t have went AWOL”. I say that’s bullshit, I say that’s inhumane. But we got the place shut down, yay for that. We shouldn’t have been sent to units to wait for another 6 months. We should all be sent home with our DD-214’s in hand with a “have a nice day”. I don’t want anything from the Army unless it’s my discharge. I don’t want any apologies and I don’t want any damn money. I just want to go home and find a job (which will be real hard in this economy) and marry my girlfriend and raise our family together. That is all that I have ever wanted.

By Travis Bishop. October 20, 2009

The support I have gotten for my decision has been extraordinary. I can never repay the help and support I’ve gotten, but I will try hard to once I’m released.

Things here at Fort Lewis are grim. I was in isolation the first ten days I was here. It was hell, and I never want to go back to that. Now I’m in a bay of around 20 guys and it’s a little better, but we are treated like children, or murderers, by most of the guards. They forget very quickly that we were all soldiers once… They barley even show us common human courtesy and respect.

I’m two months into my sentence. With good behavior I should be out of here on June 14, 2010. This place is an assault on my mind, body and spirit. This whole atmosphere is foreign to me, and I think they pride themselves on that.

If anyone wants to write me, please tell them that I would love to get mail. Letters are the best part of the day. I’m going to try very hard to answer every letter. If someone sends me a letter, and it gets sent back to them [rejected by the military], wait about a week, and then send it to me again. This gives me time to put their address on my approved mail list. Only put your name—no organizations. The only things people can send me are letters—pen and paper only. No stickers or glitter or anything like that. The mail system is very strict here. Again, thank you to everyone for your support.

Please write to Travis at:

David Travis Bishop
Box 339536
Fort Lewis, WA 98433

Note that the Army will likely reject your first letter, and maybe your second also. Please keep trying to send Travis mail as he really wants to hear from you. When your letter is rejected, sometimes Travis gets to see the envelope. If so, he is then able to add your name to his approved correspondence list.

Soldiers, retirees and veterans who think they may be eligible for retroactive stop-loss pay have 12 months to apply for the special $500 per month entitlement authorized by Congress earlier this year.

As many as 140,000 current and former soldiers may qualify for payment.

Effective Oct. 21, the Army will compensate soldiers for each month, or portion of a month, they were retained on active duty beyond their contracted separation or voluntary retirement date.

Claims may be submitted starting Oct. 21 and must be filed by Oct. 21, 2010.

Payments are retroactive to Sept. 11, 2001, and cover involuntary service performed through Sept. 30, 2009.

However, soldiers who have received regular stop-loss pay for service performed after Oct. 1, 2008, will be compensated only if they were in stop-loss status before that date.

The retroactive compensation will be paid lump sum for the months served in stop-loss status.

Soldiers will not receive regular stop-loss pay and retroactive stop-loss pay for the same period.

The Defense Finance and Accounting Service will determine the applicable tax exclusion for retroactive pay that was earned in a combat zone, according to Army officials.

While all the armed forces have imposed some form of stop-loss since 9/11, the Army has liberally applied the policy to its active and reserve components over the past nine years, with restrictions initially imposed on soldiers in priority specialties, and since 2003, on entire units.

Because of stop-loss’s widespread use, Army personnel officials estimate that nearly 140,000 current and former soldiers may be eligible.

To qualify, soldiers, retirees, veterans or their survivors must file a claim with the Army no later than Oct. 21, 2010.

Claims can be submitted electronically beginning Oct. 21 at a dedicated Web site, https://www.stoplosspay.army.mil.

Soldiers and former soldiers qualify for retroactive stop-loss pay if they were retained on active duty beyond:

• A contractual expiration term of service, or ETS, date, or in the case of reservists, their contractual ETS in the Selected Reserve.

• An approved separation date based on an unqualified resignation or release from active duty or, in the case of reservists, an approved request for transfer to the Individual Ready Reserve.

• An approved retirement based on length of service.

Verdict:

Cut

The short:

Made for fans of the Hasbro toys by the same name, the movie entertains a low-expectation-having audience through its mix of popcorn movie cliches.

Focus:

I spent the first 20 minutes of this movie eating my Italian BLT foot long. When I think back to the experience, I now know that the movie could have been enjoyable if I had only continued to pay the same amount of attention to it I was paying whilst I was eating – given my inability as a man to multitask, especially when eating, this would be a very small amount. If I had only watched the movie’s explosions with the same amount of deliberation a track greyhound gives to chasing the mechanical rabbit, I may have come out of the cinema mildly satisfied. If I had only. Sadly, I had not.

It’s not that I went into this movie thinking it was Citizen Kane but it had been compared to Transformers and I expected the same level of entertainment that it provided – especially since I had paid about the same amount of attention as a fan to both these Hasbro toy franchises when I was a young padawan. This movie is nothing like Transformers.

The movie’s main weakness is that it lacks a strong lead. In an action movie, the lead has to have charisma in whatever form that comes in. Think Bruce Willis in Die Hard, Will Smith in Independence Day or even Arnie in Predator. The lead has to say cool things and he has to say it in a way that makes you want to repeat it in a retarded impersonation to all your friends.

It’s not that Channing Tatum is a terrible actor, he’s just terrible in this movie (I would blame the director as I thought Kimberly Peirce did a wonderful job with him in Stop-Loss). Equally bad was the usage of Marlon Wayans whose jokes felt neutered as even he was not able to fill the gaping chasm of charismaless acting plaguing this movie. I guess I should have known better given Dennis Quaid’s appearance in this movie was no secret.

Overall the movie was too cartoonish where everything that happened was explained away by nano-bots and, despite some epic scenes of real blockbuster quality, a lot of the movie looked cheap making me think I was watching Spy Kids with the props from Power Rangers substituted in.

Speaking of movies it reminded me of, the whole movie felt like a real life version of Team America – minus the acting of course. I think those puppets had more talent. I honestly couldn’t decide in parts if the movie was being satirical, or if they had actually ripped off Team America and added real people…but subtracted the humour.

To be fair, the movie has received mixed reviews from audiences – many have loved it or at least thought it was highly entertaining. I think if you are a huge fan of the G.I. Joe franchise, expecting a movie with nothing more than non-stop explosions, and are slightly mentally retarded to the point where singing B-I-N-G-O repeatedly in your head brings you amusement then you will like this movie.

It’s not that this movie is terrible, it’s that it’s so terrible that I haven’t been able to stop complaining about it for the past 3-4 weeks since I saw it. There is so much more that is wrong with the movie, but I will leave it at that.

Posted: September 11, 2009 September 11, 2001 I was driving to work the morning the attacks occurred

Posted: September 11, 2009

September 11, 2001

I was driving to work the morning the attacks occurred – when word came over talk radio that a plane had hit the WTC, I, like most Americans, was shocked. My wife and my youngest son called me while they were watching the televised reports. The second plane hit tower two while we were still on the phone. The first thing out of my mouth was “We are now at war.” but with whom, I couldn’t say. My wife was stunned; my son angry. My oldest son was away at college, so none of us could talk to him till later that day.

I didn’t find out about the Pentagon or Flight 93 crashes until later in the day. It was a quiet and somber day at work, and I couldn’t wait to get home to hear more about what happened. The oldest was more confused than angry. He didn’t understand why someone would do this. My youngest was ready to join up and not finish his senior year of high school.

My wife and I convinced the youngest to stay and graduate and even convinced him to try college for a year before joining. It worked, at least until late in his first year in school. He announced to us when we came to parents day late in the school year that he had enlisted in the Army and was going to become a communication specialist and a paratrooper. My heart swelled with pride, and I felt fear for my son’s safety at the same time. My fears were allayed for the first two and a half yrs as his duty kept him stateside. Then he was posted to Germany (not terribly far from where I was stationed oh so many yrs ago.), and his first email to me stated he was going to war. I admit I got more than a bit emotional when I read that. I kept the news to myself until after my wife’s birthday, and then told her the news.

He called just before leaving and told me “Dad, I am scared.” I put on a brave voice and told him I’d be concerned if he wasn’t. I assumed he would spend most of his time at FOB Q-West and not go on missions. I could not have been more wrong.

Turns out he was the best comms guy in-country and was in great demand traveling far and wide from his FOB near Mosul. That’s when they found out he could shoot very well. He spent more time traipsing around with other units like the 101st, 1st Armored, et al. He turned down his Combat Action Badge (CAB) because the event resulted in the loss of a NY National Guardsman, and he felt it wrong to accept an award when someone else died on what he considered his watch even though he was an SPC4. His firstborn son was born shortly after his arrival. He stayed in Iraq till October, 2006 – 11 months – felt much longer to all of us. The relief my wife and I felt upon his return was palpable. We knew he was out of Harm’s Way for good. Then eight months before his ETS we got word from him – “STOP-LOSS”. The stress of having a child in combat was again thrust upon us!

His second deployment was as lead scout/lead driver for the 16th STB, a Personal Security Team. Yes, that sounded nice and safe… He also returned to Q-West, now a COB. I figured this tour would be a bit calmer since the surge was basically over – wrong again; Although, this tour was done without as many bullets being thrown by him at terrorists than his first tour. That said, this tour resulted in him receiving a battlefield promotion to SGT (E5) and a Bronze Star.

We consider him a hero – he does not. He said “The heroes are the ones who can’t come home and renew their lives.” He had the honor of accompanying a fallen Marine, on the plane to Germany, LCPL Bruce Farrell, who gave his all in Afghanistan.

The stress felt by my family is similar to all military families, regardless if they are in Harm’s Way or training up to go. We consider the families of our military to be heroes as well. Hope you do to.

May God bless and keep our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines, and their families safe. May God grant them peace of heart and mind, and may God bless the United States of America.

Bruce

NOTE: I originally wrote he received a Bronze Star. I should have written “been nominated” for a Bronze Star. My Bad!

A word from the Editor: Now this may be showing my age but I remember back when Civics was a class not a foreign car. My civics teacher, who I also remember by some coincidence, looked like Mr. Kotter (age showing again). Now I didn’t do a lot of listening to any teacher back then, but one thing I do remember was ole Mr. Dawes’ speech on the “Constant struggle between the rights of man –vs- the rights of Society” an age old battle as he put it, waged in the public forum and enshrined in our constitution. Which brings me to the topic today: Ontario’s stunt driving law; Draconian legislation or Protector of the innocent?

Warning: Today’s blog Contains Graphic Images you may not want to see

Steak :

I guess before I get into it today I should explain, for those of you elsewhere, how the law in Ontario breaks down a stunt:

” For the purposes of section 172 of the Act, “stunt” includes any activity where one or more persons engage in any of the following driving behaviors:
1. Driving a motor vehicle in a manner that indicates an intention to lift some or all of its tires from the surface of the highway, including driving a motorcycle with only one wheel in contact with the ground, but not including the use of lift axles on commercial motor vehicles.
2. Driving a motor vehicle in a manner that indicates an intention to cause some or all of its tires to lose traction with the surface of the highway while turning.
3. Driving a motor vehicle in a manner that indicates an intention to spin it or cause it to circle, without maintaining control over it.
4. Driving two or more motor vehicles side by side or in proximity to each other, where one of the motor vehicles occupies a lane of traffic or other portion of the highway intended for use by oncoming traffic for a period of time that is longer than is reasonably required to pass another motor vehicle.
5. Driving a motor vehicle with a person in the trunk of the motor vehicle.
6. Driving a motor vehicle while the driver is not sitting in the driver’s seat.
7. Driving a motor vehicle at a rate of speed that is 50 kilometers per hour or more over the speed limit.
8. Driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention, without reasonable consideration for other persons using the highway or in a manner that may endanger any person by,
i. Driving a motor vehicle in a manner that indicates an intention to prevent another vehicle from passing,
ii. Stopping or slowing down a motor vehicle in a manner that indicates the driver’s sole intention in stopping or slowing down is to interfere with the movement of another vehicle by cutting off its passage on the highway or to cause another vehicle to stop or slow down in circumstances where the other vehicle would not ordinarily do so,
iii. Driving a motor vehicle in a manner that indicates an intention to drive, without justification, as close as possible to another vehicle, pedestrian or fixed object on or near the highway, or
iv. making a left turn where,
(A) The driver is stopped at an intersection controlled by a traffic control signal system in response to a circular red indication;
(B) At least one vehicle facing the opposite direction is similarly stopped in response to a circular red indication; and
(C) The driver executes the left turn immediately before or after the system shows only a circular green indication in both directions and in a manner that indicates an intention to complete or attempt to complete the left turn before the vehicle facing the opposite direction is able to proceed straight through the intersection in response to the circular green indication facing that vehicle. O. Reg. 455/07, s. 3.”

Your friendly neighborhood police man

Wow, is that ever a mouth full. Now if you take a good look at the definitions I don’t think anyone is going to argue that our constitution protects “fishtailing” on the highway, driving with one of your buddies in the trunk, or trying to drive from the back seat. But the idea of charging someone with stunt driving, which can carry fines up to $10,000 and license suspensions for up to 10 years and a 6 month jail sentence for driving 50km/h over the limit, with no exceptions or due diligence, is fairly absurd and I’m glad Justice Geoffrey J. Griffin has the sense to see this and say, “The only issue is the possibility of imprisonment for up to six months for an ‘absolute liability’“ which to all you non Law and Order watchers is a type of criminal offense that does not require any fault elements to be proved in order to establish guilt. The prosecution only needs to show that the accused performed the prohibited act. So in Layman’s terms this means you don’t get the opportunity to defend yourself or offer and explanation to the court as to why you were speeding.
Now I’m not trying to condone speeding, in fact I’m a huge advocate for tough driving laws. To many people see their licenses as a right and not a responsibility. I see them all too often not driving to road conditions like rain and snow, talking on their cells. And it’s no coincidence that from the beginning of this year to the end of August, 209 people had been killed in 183 crashes on Ontario highways, compared to 309 fatalities in 263 crashes in the same period in 2007. But the bottom line is that no one should ever face a prison sentence without a trial, it’s in the UN’s Declaration of Human Rights Article 9 “no one shall be subject to arbitrary arrest detention or exile. No matter where you live, if you’re in a member country (sorry Palestine, Western Sahara, and Vatican City) you have the right to defend yourself, which is always more practical in writing and seldom enforced by the UN (see U.S Rendition or the Suaad Hagi Mohamud case).
In summing up, I’m reminded of a great quote from Thomas Jefferson “I consider trial by jury as the only anchor ever yet imagined by man, by which a government can be held to the principles of its constitution.”

Eggs

The first person to be killed by a car was a 44-year-old British woman named Bridget Driscoll. As the coroner stood over her body on that cold August day back in 1896 and declared it an accidental death, he said, “This must never happen again”. But since then more than 25 million people have been killed by cars and 1.7 million more are predicted to die every year. And as far as I’m concerned, that’s 1.7 million to many. I’m not so foolish as to believe that accidents are not going to happen, but I think everyone can agree that to many people are killed in motor related accidents.

It only takes a second tuned into any traffic radio station to hear reports of everything from fender benders to multiple car collisions. Thankfully not every collision ends in a fatality but to many of them do, and to often factors like excessive speed and alcohol are involved. I think it’s rare today to meet anyone who’s lives haven’t been affected by the consequences of unsafe driving, and weather that’s a loss of a loved one or broken bones, the cost of saving some time is just to high. And isn’t that really what it breaks down to, saving time?

People these days are so concerned with saving time that it seems like they’ll sacrifice almost any thing to try to save a few minuets. Just look at all the late night infomercials touting crappy products, all with the promise of making your life easier and saving you time. It’s become an obsession for us, and as it turns out deadly one at that.

When it comes to keeping myself and my kids safe I’m up for almost means nessasary. We should be putting more tools into law enforcers hands, not taking them away. And even if that includes a little erosion of my civil liberties, and that means I’ll have to keep a closer eye on my speedometer then I guess that’s the price we pay to keep our streets safe.

by Peter Sciretta – SlashFilm.com

Mad Men star Jon Hamm has joined the primarily female cast of Zack Snyder‘s Sucker Punch.

Snyder has called the film “Alice in Wonderland with machine guns”, a 1950’s-period action movie which tells the story of a girl named Baby Doll (Emily Browning) who is confined to a mental institution by her evil stepfather, who intends to have her lobotomized in five days. While imprisoned, she imagines an alternative reality to hide her from the pain. In this fantasy world, where she needs to steal five objects to help her out before she is deflowered by a vile man.

Jamie Chung (Dragonball Evolution), Jenna Malone (Into The Wild, Donnie Darko), Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical), Abbie Cornish (Stop-Loss) play Browning’s fellow inmates who also travel into the alternate reality. Carla Gugino has also been cast as a nurse in the insane asylum who becomes a madam at a brothel in the film’s alternate reality.

THR says that details for Hamm’s character are being kept under lock and key, but his character is known as High Roller. But Snyder has said that the alternative reality in the film is where the psych ward world shifts into this strange high-roller’s brothel. So we can assume that Hamm’s character is the owner of the sub world brothel, and might also have a counterpart in the real world mental institution, possibly the “warden” type? Maybe the vile man mentioned in the plot synopsis?

The film’s cast is finally coming together, after a bunch of sudden cast departures hit the project suspiciously following the release of Snyder’s Watchmen. Amanda Seyfried, Evan Rachel Wood and Emma Stone all dropped out due to scheduling conflicts; Hamm is certainly a nice addition to the already impressive ensemble.

Sucker Punch is set to begin filming this fall in Vancouver. Warner Bros has previously announced a March 25th 2011 release date.

There have been a number of movies that focus on the current war on Iraq.Of those I’ve only seen Paul Haggis’ In The Valley of Elah and Kimberly Pierce’s Stop Loss. The former’s strength comes from a great lead performance, while the latter is trash. So, Kathryn Bigelow’s is easily the best movie about the war in Iraq yet.

The movie follows one team in Iraq who is responsible for disarming bombs. Most of the focus is on Sergeant James (Jeremy Renner), who is the guy that actually goes out there and cut the bombs’ wires. He is a seemingly fearless individual who loves doing his job. He has a family, but he really doesn’t think about them. Then There’s Sergeant Samborn (Anthony Mackie), who is pretty much the voice of reason, and Specialist Eldridge (Brian Geraghty), whose job is to protect Sergeant James, but is already traumatized. They are shown doing their job from when they only have 36 days left in their tour of duty, to about the second to last day. We see them celebrating, afraid, and trying to keep their cool under stressful, life or death situations.

This is only the second war movie that doesn’t take a stand on whether the reason for being there is right or wrong (the other being Letters from Iwo Jima). It is just about the men that sign up to be soldiers and what the type of danger they face. There are few scenes of them talking about their lives back in the the US, which shows how focused they have to be to do what they have to do.

As a whole, the movie is great. It has an interesting story and a well written script. However, it is not an action movie or a thrilling movie, like some of the ads led me to belief. Rather, it is a slow-burning, dialogue-driven, character drama. There are some action scenes and explosions, but their sole purpose is to show the danger in Iraq, not just to keep the people entertained. What kept me entertained was the tension created by Kathryn Bigelow. From the moment the quote in the beginning shows up, it is her movie. There is not a bad shot, bad performance, or filler thanks to her. Her work here is definitely one of the finest directing jobs of the decade.

Thanks to her, Jeremy Renner gives a great performance. He plays a driven and fearless character, and there never is a false note. Near the end, where he is becoming more human, he could have been over the top, but he wasn’t. Like his character, he made the right choices under extreme tension. Mackie and Geraghty give strong performance, but they don’t come close to matching Renner.

As I said, it was nice to see a war movie that doesn’t take sides, but tells a story about the men who fight the war, without making them seem crazy to join the army. Although it is not perfect, it is a great showcase for Bigelow and Renner’s work. Hopefully their work will be remembered come awards season.

NY Gets It Right

July 20, 2009

The New York Office of General Counsel (OGC) has correctly ruled that stop-loss insurers are not subject to the state’s prompt payment law. (OGC Opinion No. 09-04-08). The distinction is that stop-loss insures only the employer plan sponsor and does not provide health coverage to covered employees. There are no “covered lives” associated with a stop loss policy because stop loss indemnifies employers (plan sponsors) and does not pay health benefit claims to individuals or providers. In other words, stop loss insurance reimburses employers for excess losses over a predetermined amount. The OGC got it right by reversing and clarifying an earlier opinion that concluded stop loss insurance constitutes health and accident insurance.(07/19/09).

My first buy is a risky one so obviously I will use the 3000 £ fund. Vedanta Resources is a mining company. It’s a hot stock in hot industry. It’s very volatile but in the past i successfully managed to predict it’s trends. Now it seems to be on an ascending trend. I took a 10 £ per point buy position at 1511.5 hoping to get at at least 1600 even 1800. As my judgement was made by looking at the daily chart I am planing to hold this position a week or even more. I set the stop loss at 1420 thus blocking around 894 £ of my 3000 fund. I set this stop loss by looking at the chart and not by judging how much money I invest. I hope it was a good idea. Any comments are welcomed.

I do agree, however, with others who’ve said that there were story elements unnecessarily included to drive home the point of the storytellers (i.e., stop lossing soldiers is unjust and needs to cease as a practice of the US military). I’m a little disappointed that the writers didn’t trust the characters to convey this to the audience, but Stop Loss wouldn’t be the first movie to focus too much on “the point” and not enough on character and story.

In the end, the performances were heartfelt and the film’s creators were honest in their storytelling . . . and that, when the sun sets, is all I can ask for. For those interested in stories of modern day injustice or current US military undertakings, I would recommend this film.

National Futures Association (NFA), forex industry self regulatory organization in United States, announced that it is now following the new Compliance Rule 2-43 regarding forex trading.

This rule requires that orders be executed First In, First Out (FIFO). FIFO requires that when multiple positions are held in the same currency pair, the position which was first opened will be the first to be closed. Stop loss and limit orders do not comply with FIFO.

The NFA’s stance is that FIFO provides more transparency to customers, offering a more accurate picture of the P/L than viewing the results of individual positions. This brings the forex market more in line with the practices of the futures and equities markets.

What impact does the new rule have on traders?

Traders who trade via forex brokers regulated by NFA will no longer be able to place stop-loss or limit orders.
