Gli Oasis ormai appartengono al passato, su questo ci sono pochi dubbi. Noel Gallagher ha lasciato la band il 29 agosto scorso, dopo il litigio con il fratello prima del concerto di Parigi al Rock en Seine. E con il passare dei giorni sembra sempre più difficile che possa ripensarci.

Ora il futuro è incerto: c’è la possibilità che Liam porti avanti la band anche senza il fratello, come ha accennato Tom Meighan dei Kasabian. E naturalmente sono ricominciate le solite voci sul disco solista di Noel, più volte annunciato e mai realizzato. A questo punto però le premesse ci sarebbero tutte. E non è escluso che “The Chief” sia già al lavoro sul progetto.

L’ALBUM - «Sto continuando ad accumulare sempre più canzoni. Ma non mi sembrano adatte al sound degli Oasis, potrei metterle nel disco solista al quale sto lavorando». Sono parole di Noel, e risalgono all’aprile del 2007 in un’intervista con il magazine Nme, ma potrebbe averle dette ieri. E quale direzione potrebbe prendere il progetto? Molti osservatori vedono in Gallagher il futuro Paul Weller, ma forse è un paragone che non calza. Il Modfather l’esperienza con i Jam e gli Style Council ha dato alla sua carriera una decisa svolta revival.

Noel Gallagher, quando è uscito dal circuito Oasis, ha sempre scelto la strada della sperimentazione. Basta pensare ai flirt con la scena elettronica inglese di fine anni ’90: Chemical Brothers, Goldie e Prodigy, giusto per citare qualche nome. Senza scordare il contributo alla colonna sonora del film X-Files. Anche negli ultimi anni il più maturo dei Gallagher ha dato segnali simili, affidando un remix del singolo Falling Down agli Amorphous Androgynous, il collettivo elettronico al tempo noto come The future sound of London.

Che sia questo dunque lo stile del suo disco solista? Può darsi, ma non è escluso che Noel decida invece di dare ampio sfogo alla sua vena semi-acustica più volte emersa anche con gli Oasis, come nel tour promozionale di Stop the Clocks. Due soluzioni molto diverse, ma molto affascinanti per diverse ragioni.

LE CANZONI - Non si sa ancora quali pezzi potrebbero esserci nell’album, ma si può fare qualche ipotesi. Ci sono diverse unreleased davvero interessanti negli archivi di Noel. Anzitutto la famosa Stop the Clocks, che il musicista di Manchester ha più volte definito «la miglior canzone che abbia mai scritto». Da quello che si sente nel demo uscito dalle registrazioni di Don’t believe the truth non sembra, anche se il pezzo ha buone potenzialità. Sempre da quella sessione è uscita invece Record Machine, che già così sembra grandiosa e che sarebbe un delitto non pubblicare. E che dire della vecchia Revolution song, scartata da Standing on the shoulder of giants? E del misterioso brano apparso nel documentario Lord don’t slow me down?

E poi ci sono i tre pezzi provati nei soundcheck del tour dell’estate scorsa: una è senza titolo, le altre due sono state provvisoriamente battezzate If I had a gun e Everybody’s on the run. Anche queste sembrano promettere bene. Insomma il materiale per un bel disco ci sarebbe. Chissà se vedrà mai la luce.

As amusing as I find the idea of Oasis limping along as they are, I think it’s safe to say that the departure of the weekend of the band’s creative (stop sniggering) force, Noel, marks the end of one of the great Britpop bands and, thus, one of the best bands of recent years. They were never hugely original, frequently unable to put together a complete album of great songs and prone to more gaffes than Carol Thatcher watching reruns of The Black & White Minstrel show, but still they meant so much to so many. I’ll confess that, while they’ve never been close to being my favourite band, I’ve always had a lot of time for them. It seems slightly weird that in 2009 you have to justify your liking of Oasis in the same way you might need to if you had a penchant for vegetarianism or paedophilia. In 1994 they were the name to drop and in 1995 pretty much everyone got caught up in the infamous chart battle with Blur, and yet here we are, fourteen years down the line, with Oasis still hugely popular and yet critically precarious. I bought the deluxe, over-priced, same stuff on multiple formats, box of their last album, ‘Dig Out Your Soul’, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s a good record. A few shite tracks, but a few that make you thump the air and unashamedly bawl along to nonsensical lyrics that read like something that’s been translated on one of those free internet search engines from English, into German, and then back again. But then who expected anything else? That’s what you get when it comes to Oasis albums and most of us have learnt not only to accept that, but to cherry-pick the best bits each time and continue to enjoy the moments when Noel gets it oh so very right. ‘Falling Down’, from that last album, is a monster of a song, partly harking back to his work with Chemical Brothers, partly representing a change in listening habits from Gallagher senior.

As so many ever so slightly annoying cultural commentators have been saying all weekend, Oasis captured a certain time and, as a result, occupy a small space in the hearts of many. Certainly, a listen to ‘Definitely Maybe’ or ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?‘ shorn of 90s context is pretty much impossible. Those songs evoke a time, an attitude and a type of music that for many was thoroughly enjoyable. Even ‘Be Here Now’ is still something I have fond memories of, to the extent that out of all of the recent vinyl reissues, the one I plumped down the cash for was this behemoth of a record. It receives almost as little love as the songs have audible basslines but it nevertheless contains forgotten belters like ‘I Hope, I Think, I Know’ and ‘Don’t Go Away’. Even ‘Magic Pie’ would be great if it had its last three minutes surgically excised. This willingness to see the good in everything is a prerequisite for any non-rabidly obsessive Oasis fans and it has kept us on side through the dark days – ‘Heathen Chemistry’ – and the very, very dark days – ‘Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants’ – so that when rather better records such as ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ come along, they don’t go unnoticed.

Having said all of this, what I loved most about Oasis was their approach to singles. Noel’s purple patch was undoubtedly across the first two albums and so he was naively happy to toss away great songs as b sides, resulting in some great moments getting tucked away behind chart-shagging monsters like ‘Wonderwall’ and ‘Some Might Say‘. Indeed, one of my all-time favourite Oasis songs snuck out on that latter single. I know what you’re thinking. You reckon I’m going to say it’s ‘Acquiesce’. It’s not. It’s ‘Talk Tonight’, an acoustic number with no fanfare, no big production and no snarling Liam. Noel’s voice is absolutely perfect, the understated sound is quite beautiful and it never grows old. Its appearance on ‘Stop The Clocks’ would suggest that it’s more popular than I had assumed, but it still strikes me as a bit of an overlooked gem.

Perhaps the most famous example of the band chucking away a classic as a b-side was ‘The Masterplan‘, which didn’t even appear on most of the formats of ”Wonderwall’. So bizarrely quietly  was this song snuck into the world, that it appeared as track 4 on the CD single. As history records, this monumental screw up was subsequently acknowledged and it gave rise to the rather wonderful b side collection of the same name. Noticeably, this is also a Noel vocal, but it couldn’t be much further removed from ‘Talk Tonight’ in terms of both delivery and production. This one is much more epic, suggesting that Noel even knew at the time how good it was, possibly even eclipsing the song whose CD it was simply intended to pad out. It has since been awarded its deserved place in their canon, but I still remember the day I played the CD single through in full and realised exactly what I had bought. It’s a beautifully stirring song and a further example of just how good Oasis could be when they weren’t desperately trying to rock like mad bastards.

Not that they couldn’t rock like mad bastards. ‘Definitely Maybe’ is a great album. The most consistently strong set of songs of their entire career, it took them straight to number one back in 1994 and is the one album of theirs which even rock snobs allow themselves to listen to. ‘Rock ‘n’ Roll Star’, ‘Columbia‘ and ‘Slide Away‘ are all wonderful, life-affirming, bloody huge songs. None of them singles. And what singles they were. ‘Supersonic‘, ‘Shakermaker’, ‘Cigarettes & Alcohol’ and the almost unfeasibly good, ‘Live Forever’. While ‘Shakermaker’ was hardly rock gold, it’s still a decent sing-a-long tune, which isn’t too bad when you think that it was probably weakest release in an incredibly strong run of great singles that lasted from ‘Supersonic’ right the way through to ‘Go Let It Out’.

Two singles stand above the rest for me. The first, perhaps predictably, is the never again released, ‘Whatever‘, which ended up costing Noel a fair few quid in songwriting royalties due to a more than passing resemblance to Neil Innes‘ ‘How Sweet To Be An Idiot’. Hence, its subsequent failure to appear on any compilations. At over six minutes long and with the London Session Orchestra going flat out for its duration, ‘Whatever’ is not an understated piece. It captures the youthful exuberance of early Oasis perfectly and yet clearly hints at the much bigger things to come from the band’s next album, ‘(What’s The Story) Morning Glory?‘ The other single is far less popular and may strike some as an odd choice. ‘Sunday Morning Call’ was the third and final single to be lifted from the 2000 album, ‘Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants’. The group’s nadir, this album was under-cooked, poorly written and severely lacking in oomph. ‘Go Let It Out’ was a fine lead single, but things tailed off pretty quickly thereafter. Apart from this track. Sung by Noel (spotting a pattern are we?) and very much mid-paced, it’s a charmingly understated cousin of ‘Talk Tonight’, only with more instruments, a bigger budget and a comedown the size of the DFS sale warehouse. I’m sure that, at the time of its original release, I clung to it slightly as a brief highlight amongst some turgid, chugging rock, but that lustre has not been lost and it remains one of my favourite Oasis tracks. If these post makes you do nothing else, at least allow yourself four and a half minutes to reevaluate that track.

Recently, Oasis had shown signs of a creative recovery with ‘Lyla‘ and ‘The Importance Of Being Idle’ from ‘Don’t Believe The Truth’ and the aforementioned ‘Falling Down’ from ‘Dig Out Your Soul’, with that last album being a pretty consistent listen from start to finish. Having said that, the oft talked of Noel solo album was something I was keen to hear. It would seem that such a thing is rather more likely after this weekend’s showdown. As many have said, it’s more than a little likely that five years from now, solo careers fully out of the system, a reunion tour will magically occur and the Gallagher brothers will record together once more, but even so it’s still worth a moment reflecting on what was great about Oasis. There was much to sneer at, plenty to listen to only the once, but there was also a great deal to love.

 10. DON´T GO AWAY 

Noel wrote from the experience of seeing his mother, Peggy, was hospitalized for a suspected cancer who tested negative at the end. Although currently the Gallagher does not like to interpret any song from the CD Be Here Now listing has asked a friend who would love this song.

It is said that the guitarist Noel Boneh asked to include the line “Cold and Frosty Morning” after the death of his mother. In addition, I must admit that the video of Liam and vocalization are formidable. In a 1997 interview with Liam admitted that she cried during the recording of the song.

9. LET THERE BE LOVE

Ballad composed and sung by Noel Gallagher brothers both. Called at first “It’s a crime” was finished just in time for the recording of the album Do not Believe The Truth. Although it is believed that it was being worked since the days of the test disc Standing on the Shoulder of Giants.

The video is a compilation of images and recordings of the band during the summer of 2005. It is one of the best ballads I have ever heard and it is therefore strange that there is almost never played live. Noel ever sung completely touched by him in an Italian radio.

8. I’M OUTTA TIME

Composed and written by Liam as a tribute to John Lennon. In some parts of the piano sounds very similar to “Jealous Guy” and “A Day in the Life” by The Beatles. Furthermore, at the end contains an extract from the last interview given by Lennon, Andy journalist Peoples, two days before his death.

I think that is the best song on the album Dig Out Your Soul. His brother, Noel, described as “deceptively brilliant.” The video (which only leaves Liam) in own words the band plays with the idea of a surreal journey through the English countryside by moonlight.

7. SONGBIRD

It is the first composition that Liam has been issued as a single from the album Heathen Chemistry. In this video, filmed at the Regent `s Park in London, again the youngest of the Gallagher goes solo. And although its duration is short demonstrates all the talent you have for music.

A song featuring Liam in a different facet to which he was known. He himself admits, saying: “I was out of all shades and now again can take a look at the world and see some good things.”

6. WONDERWALL

The original title was’ Wishing Stone ‘. It is the best known composition Noel winner. At first, he wanted to sing this song on the album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? but gave his brother Liam a chance to do so.

He was dedicated to his ex-partner Meg Mathews. Although the Noel argues that this interpretation came from the press and that there was no way to tell Meg that song was not about her but rather on an imaginary friend that one day will come and save him from himself.

5. WHATEVER

Written by Noel this song is a mix of pop-rock sound of Definitely Maybe with a letter to the sophisticated style of (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? Has been presented live often with a great symphony. It was the single most weeks (50) in the lists of the best in the United Kingdom.

The first lines (“I’m free to be whatever I / Whatever I choose / And I’ll sing the blues if I want”) is an example of Noel’s reaction against the insistence of his father to join the construction business.

4.THE MASTERPLAN

This song written and sung by Noel was released as a B-side of the CD version of his successful single “Wonderwall” and stressed in the B-sides compilation The Masterplan CD. He has repeatedly stated that he is one of his best compositions and therefore regrets that was released as a B-side at the beginning: “I was young and stupid when I made that decision.”

It is the only video that has animated the banda which gives an extra plus that sets it apart from the rest. The song also features a backwards guitar solo after the first chorus and about 30 seconds for the final can be heard (distortion) and Noel sing the chorus of “Octopus’s Garden” by The Beatles.

3. SUPERSONIC

Is the debut single from the band. It was written by Noel at The Pink Museum in Liverpool where he also was recorded. Launched on April 11, 1994 remains to this day, one of the favorite songs of the banda. In the video we see the King’s Cross station in the background. At the end of the video “Wonderwall” can you hear the startup sound Supersonic.

Noel claims that the song is basically a collection of nonsense written in the minutes before they entered the recording. Something curious is that the identity of “Elsa” is based on a rottweiler with a flatulence problem of the study was that the day he wrote the song in one line says: “she’s into Alka Seltzer.”

2. DON´T LOOK BACK IN ANGER

Written by Noel for his successful second album (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? It is the first song he sings solo. Played with such mastery that has become one of the favorites in the proceedings that Oasis has concerts and events.

In an interview with Colin Murray Liam Noel confirmed that he had the idea of the “so Sally can wait” “I was doing it in the sound check and the so Sally bit, I was not singing that … and he [ Liam] says, ‘Are you singing so Sally can wait? ” and I said, ‘No.’ and he said, ‘Well you should do.

1. LIVE FOREVER

This song written by Noel (part of Wonderwall) is the symbol of Oasis song for many of her fans, including me. Launched an August 8, just before the release of their debut album Definitely Maybe.

Noel wrote in 1991, before being Oasis, inspired by “Shine a Light” by The Rolling Stones. Impregnated with basic sounds and letter with an optimistic outlook that contrasted with the attitude of the grunge bands of the era.

The Genius

The 3 songs with honors and completed our list are: James Little 11 (The best composition of Liam and dedicated to his son. If not entered on the list was mainly due to the absence of an official to represent video) the number 12 Champagne Supernova (Oasis Another classic. 7. SONGBIRD

Es la primera composición de Liam que ha sido publicada como un sencillo del álbum Heathen Chemistry. En cuyo video, filmado en el Regent`s Park de Londres, nuevamente el menor de los Gallagher sale solo. Y aunque su duración es corta demuestra todo el talento que tiene para la música.    

Una canción que muestra a Liam en una faceta distinta a la que se le conocía. Él mismo lo admite diciendo: “Yo estaba fuera de todos los tonos y ahora de nuevo puedo echar un vistazo al mundo y ver algunas cosas buenas”.

6. WONDERWALL

El título original era ‘Wishing Stone’. Además es la composición de Noel más conocida y premiada. Al comienzo, él quería cantar esta canción del álbum (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? pero le dio a su hermano Liam la oportunidad de hacerlo.

Se dice que fue dedicada a su ex pareja Meg Mathews. Aunque el mismo Noel argumenta que esa interpretación surgió de la prensa y que no hubo manera de decirle a Meg que esa canción no trataba de ella sino más bien sobre un amigo imaginario que un día vendrá y le salvara de sí mismo.

Escrita por Noel para su exitoso segundo álbum (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? Es además la primera canción que él canta solo. Interpretada con tal maestría que se ha convertido en una de las favoritas en las actuaciones que Oasis tiene en conciertos y eventos.

Finally…

Sometimes, even though I am a born again ‘wobbler’ on the religious stakes, I really believe in Cheezus.  My anguished pleas must have reached his tiny, yet perfectly formed ears last night, because here I sit, in my home, not in Norfolk.

We packed the car last night.  We were all ready and waiting to go this morning.  Jason rang his mother to say we were just setting off.  She said that he didn’t sound like he had gotten over his cold yet.  He said, don’t be silly it’s fine.  She said.  Don’t risk it.  Don’t come!

Hoorah! Hoorah! Hoorah! Saved at the eleventh hour.  I feel like a prisoner on death row who is just about to tuck into his last meal when the cell doors are magically thrown open. Thank Cheezus! Thank Nathan! Thank bleedin’ tribbles.  I don’t care.  It’s great.

Hoorah! Hoorah!  We were all delighted.  We zoomed off to a coffee shop and ate cakes immediately to have a little celebration.  We listened to the Mighty Boosh audio on the way and the children performed all their crimps in the car on the way back.  Frabjubous day.

For those of you yet to get their head round the Boosh or my children and their Boosh obsession, here is a Boosh crimp about soup.  My children, bless them, know all the words and do a fine rendition of their own.  I try not to worry too much.  Boosh is infinitely preferable to the horrors of My Little Pony or the dreaded Thomas The Tank Engine.

As I am in a frivolous mood and have done nothing but eat cake and run about being Born Free, Free As The Wind Blows etc, I will treat you to another crimp which the children rock out to.  This one is about bouncy castles.  You can see it here.

The crimp is kind of an English eccentric version of street music from the US.  A sort of parochial rap which takes great pleasure in being very crap indeed, which is probably why we love it.  The Japanese have Haiku, the gangstas have rap.  People from Glenfield and their ilk crimp.  Say no more.

So, sorry about reports of my possible demise.  You will have to put the tribute videos away for another day.

Posiblmente se habrán enterado de que 3 canciones nuevas de Oasis se colaron a la red. Muchos medios, de cierta importancia, sacaron la nota diciendo que se trataba de nuevo material que sería incluído en el siguiente disco de la banda de Manchester.

El sitio oficial de Oasis aclaró que no se trataba de nada nuevo, más bien eran demos viejos de algunas canciones que incluso ya habían sido editadas. Esto fue lo que dijeron al respecto:

A number of old Oasis songs have appeared on the internet amidst claims that the band’s new album has leaked.

The songs are actually all old demos from previous sessions and well informed fans will have known that these tracks have been in circulation for some time. In fact, most are versions of songs that have already been released.

None of the songs are from sessions for the band’s new studio album.

He leído que algunas personas piensan que esto seguramente fue hecho por la misma banda. Sinceramente creo que no es ni remotamente posible que así haya sido, obviamente tuvo que haberse tratado de alguien cercano a ellos pero por lo menos yo descarto 100% que se trate de alguna estrategia de marketing como lo quieren hacer ver.

Eso lo fundamento con lo siguiente, para empezar la calidad de los archivos es muy baja, la voz de Liam Gallagher por momentos es malísima. Dudo que una banda en su sano juicio saque algo de tan mala calidad. Ojo, no digo que sean malas canciones pero la producción, al tratarse de demos, deja mucho que desear como para pensar que ellos las filtraron.

Si la banda misma hubiera puesto en Internet este material como estrategia dudo que se hayan tomado el tiempo para hacerlo por medio de foros de sus seguidores y así ver como reaccionaban ante las canciones, en lo personal me parece demasiado fantasioso. Creo que si ellos fueran los responsables directos de filtrar las canciones lo hubieran hecho de una manera más controlada, es decir, por medio de su mismo sitio oficial. De ser así hasta hubieran anunciado con aticipación que se podrían descargar tracks nuevos, incluso de manera gratuita como se está poniendo de modoa aunque se sabe que los hermanos Gallagher no se ven muy entusiasmados con eso; pero aun así lo pudieron hacer por medio de su página con un streaming o hasta venderlas por una módica cantidad.

En fin, en la Ciudad de México repercutió ligeramente la noticia, en una estación de radio Stop The Clocks salió al aire por primera vez a nivel mundial y en algunos periódicos también hicieron mención de este suceso. Nach vielen Geschichten, Aussagen von Noel und vielen Fakes hat “Stop The Clocks” nun doch noch den Weg zu den Fans gefunden, zudem wurden zwei weitere Titel die lange durch die Geschichte geisterten der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Desweiteren ist ebenfalls eine Version von “Lord Don’t Slow Me Down” aufgetaucht, allerdings mit Liam am Gesangsmikro sowie bisher unbekannte Demos diverser Stücke der letzten LP. Die Aufnahmen stammen aus dem Produktionsprozess des letzten Albums “Don’t Believe The Truth” und somit sollen die Titel kein Thema mehr für die kommende Platte sein, welche im September erscheinen soll.

Wer die Stücke ins Internet gestellt hat ist bisher nicht bekannt. Man könnte sogar von einer Kampagne aus dem Umkreis der Band ausgehen, denn Virales Marketing hat in letzter Zeit Hochkonjunktur und bringt häufig die gewünschte Aufmerksamkeit. Wer die Songs bisher noch nicht gehört hat kann sich die Mp3s ganz gemütlich hier herunterladen und sich selbst ein Bild davon machen, uns gefällt es jedenfalls.

Hace 7 meses supimos que los hermanos Gallagher & Co se volvían a encerrar en el estudio para trabajar en el que será su séptimo álbum.

Tal y como nos informa hoy la web de la revista NME británica, durante el día de ayer se filtraron en la web 3 temas de este nuevo trabajo de Oasis. La banda ha estado intentando retirarlos de la red, pero algunos fans ya habían colgado las canciones en el youtube.

Los 3 temas son los siguientes: “I wanna live a dream (in my record machine)” , “Nothin’ on me” y “Stop the clocks”.

He visto los vídeos, y a pesar de que aun no tengo una visión clara, puedo decir que veo que la banda sigue con la misma fórmula de siempre. Por lo menos estas 3 canciones suenan  igual que las anteriores, nada nuevo. ¿que creéis vosotros?

According to an article by Jason Gregory on Gigwise.com, three tracks by Oasis from the band’s forthcoming album–”Nothing On Me,” “I Wanna Live A Dream (In My Record Machine),” and “Stop The Clocks”– have been leaked on the Internet. The new songs sound heavier than recent Oasis material and are also quite Beatlesque. But they don’t measure up to the stellar material of Oasis’ first two albums.

According to Gregory’s article, Oasis’ management is working to remove the tracks from the Internet. So check them out while they’re still up.

Estaba a punto de ir a descansar cuando un amigo, muy fan de Oasis, me envió un mensaje al celular para decirme que me conectara; él anda metido en foros de la banda y resulta ser que hace un rato se acaba de filtrar a la red Stop The Clocks (tanto en su versión de estudio como la versión en vivo). La versión en vivo es aquella perteneciente al concierto en el Zanzibar Club.

Noel Gallagher la describió como parte de lo mejor que había hecho, no sé si haya exagerado aunque debido a toda la expectativa que se fue creando desde hace como 8 años parecería que sí se sobrepasó un poco con sus declaraciones, sin embargo…tampoco es algo nuevo en él.

La canción me parece bastante agradable y tiene esa guitarra acústica tan característica de Oasis, es ese tipo de cancion que poco a poco van creciendo hasta que explotan. Esta versión de estudio es un demo que forma parte de las sesiones de grabación que Oasis hizo con Death In Vegas para el album Don’t Believe The Truth, la cual no los convenció por lo que se fueron con Dave Sardy y lanzaron el disco con las versiones que el dia de hoy conocemos. Además de Stop The Clocks también se han filtrado un par de canciones inéditas.

Hace algunos días había puesto Wonderwall, ahora aquí tienen todo el concierto con la excepción de Stop The Clocks. Sin embargo vuelve a aparecer otra descripción de la canción; donde dicen que cuando se escucha por primera vez puede que simplemente piense uno que se trata de un ‘Who Feels Love?’ mucho mejor logrado, pero que al ser escuchada más veces se entiende que esta canción es lo más diferente a lo que Oasis ha hecho.

Stop The Clocks es muy profunda y compleja, muy bien estructurada pero que lo importante de ella es más la voz que cualquier otro detalle; vocales que son llevadas por Noel Gallagher a notas altas y bajas una y otra vez. Todo eso puede ser la razón por la que Noel ha tardado tanto en encontrar una versión que le llene, posiblemente estè consciente de la gran pieza que tiene en sus manos y que cuando salga a la luz definitivamente tiene que estar a la altura.

Para desgracia de los fans de Oasis, esta versión en vivo de la canción jamás será subida a internet y la única manera de que así sea es una vez que ésta haya sido lanzada oficialmente por la banda. A la persona que tiene esto ya le han llegado ofertas y amenazas, sin embargo ninguna suma de dinero, intercambio de material o amenza hará que se suba a la red esta canción.

Hablando de las canciones debo de decir que son similares a lo que Noel Gallagher estuvo haciendo durante la gira acústica; por momentos los arreglos de la guitarra eléctrica me gustan más. Sin más que decir aquí esta el bootleg, fue grabado por Trent Harrington, compartido por Frank Lomax y proporcionado a través de live4ever.us .

Zanzibar Club 03.05.2003

Stop The Clocks ya era conocida desde hace mucho tiempo por lo fans, más que nada el título y no la canción. Posteriormente fue cuando sacaron la recopilación con el mismo nombre.

Para los que no son seguidores de Oasis, Stop The Clocks es una canción que desde hace años ha vuelto locos a sus fans ya que supuestamente es una joya, una canción supuestamente mejor que muchísimos de los clásicos del grupo. Sin embargo solamente ha sido tocada una vez y fue para un reducido número de personas (200 aprox.) en Londres, en un lugar llamado Zanzibar Club. A partir de entonces siempre se ha rumorado que existe la grabación pero jamás ha salido algo, hasta el punto de creer que esto jamás sucedió y paso a convertise más en mito que en realidad.

Dentro de otras cosas, el mismo Noel Gallagher ha dicho que tienen como veinte versiones diferentes de la canción y aun así ninguna es de su completo agrado, el demo le gusta a algún integrante, una versión le gusta a otro y otra versión le gusta a otro. Es más, la recopilación que salió hace unos meses trae en el booklet parte de la letra de la canción, hasta cierto punto parece una broma o que sencillamente Noel está jugando con todo esto. De hecho hasta hay un blog que se hizo exclusivamente para la canción, el cual pueden visitar aquí y enterarse de todo lo que se sabe de esta canción.

En fin, aquí no van a escuchar la canción, probablemente nunca lo hagamos a menos de que sea lanzada en algún album. Aquí tienen una de los tracks que Noel Gallagher junto con Gem Archer y Terry Kirbride tocaron en ese set; se trata de Wonderwall. No es la gran cosa pero en si este mp3 vale más por el “this next song is called Stop The Clocks”, lo que a las personas que seguimos a Oasis representa una esperanza de que algún día la escuchemos en caso de que jamás se lance oficialmente o que la lleguen a tocar en alguna otra ocasión. Wonderwall

Ya tiene rato que salió este album doble recopilatorio, que según la misma banda (o al menos algunos de sus integrantes) no quieren llamarle Best Of o Greatest Hits. A final de cuentas está formado por canciones por Noel Gallagher. Cuando recién se supo la lista de canciones no faltaron los fans que se quejaban de que se incluyeran ciertas canciones y que otras las hubieran dejado fuera; pero creo que ahí es donde se aplica el “no es un best of”, por eso no esta lo que por la gente en general consideraría lo mejor de su repertorio.

En fin, este album salió en dos versiones, una con DVD y la otra solo con los dos CD’s. Compré la edición especial estrictamente por el DVD extra, de hecho hasta en un arranque de esos de fan me hice del vinil y single de Stop The Clocks. Están buenos pero tampoco viene nada del otro mundo. En general me parece un muy buen material para quienes apenas le están entrando a Oasis, pero por la diferencia de precio y todo eso no recomendaria que esas personas comprar el que trae el DVD; en cambio para los fans es totalmente recomendable comprar esa versión con la entrevista, claro justamente la razón por la que la disquera le mete un DVD y los fans que ya tienen los discos “tengan” que hacerse de esa artículo de colección.

Oasis en un principio no quería sacar algo así, pero optaron por hacerlo ya que de todos modos Sony lo haría y según su criterio (creo que muy acertado) prefirieron hacerlo en conjunto y así estar involucrados en todo lo que habría a su alrededor para que tampoco sacaran cualquier cosa como para dar pena. El contrato se acababa y era algo que Sony hubiera hecho, aunque tampoco me extrañaría que en unos años vayan a sacar un best of o greatest hits o algo así.

Ahora solo falta esperar a que ya esté el nuevo disco totalmente terminado y ver que tal se porta ahora Universal con toda la promoción y etcétera. Al menos el documental Lord Don’t Slow Me Down estuvo en las tiendas de discos casi al mismo tiempo que su estreno en UK.

En fin, todo esto fue solo para poner unas cuantas fotos de publicidad del Stop The Clocks que le podrá parecer interesante a algunos fans. Como podrán ver, arriba está una foto con varias imagenes de esto pero abajo les pongo un link para cada una donde las podrán ver en su tamaño original.

No es noticia nueva ni nada por el estilo, de hecho creo que se anunció por ahí de agosto; lo que es relativamente “noticia” es que parece ser que por ahí de la primavera estará disponible este DVD en tiendas; no sé si vaya a llegar aca, aunque me parece que no facilmente, y si llega entonces va a ser con esos precios de las tiendas de discos con un B582435, o sea un ojo de la cara; lo más viable será comprarlo en línea. Desde hace tiempo se estaba haciendo la mezcla de audio para este concierto que se grabó en Marzo de este año en el Royal Abert Hall.

¿Porque pongo algo sobre esto? Pues porque como a lo mejor ya se dieron cuenta Oasis es una de mis bandas favoritas y Noel Gallagher saldrá ahí junto con otras bandas y músicos como Paul Weller, Echo and the Bunnymen, Ian Brown, The Charlatans y algunos otros; al parecer también habrán imagenes del mismo evento pero del año anterior (Ner Order, Johnny Marr, Badly Drawn Boy y etc).

El set acústico que hizo Noel Gallagher estará en el DVD, esa noche tocó 10 canciones y creo que por ahí lo acompañaron también un grupo de cuerdas. Un par de canciones aparecerán en el DVD extra y el resto en el DVD principal.

El concierto de Noel es uno de los tantos que hizo para la promoción del Stop The Clocks, y es que al parecer fue el único de la banda junto con Gem Archer en ponerse a hacer la chamba de promoció; también aparece Terry Kirkbride en las percusiones y que también formó parte de las sesiones de grabación del último disco de Oasis. De todos modos las canciones de recopilatorio fueron elegidos por el mismo Noel sin preguntarle casi casi nada a nadie; por lo tanto no me extrañaría que Liam le hubiera dicho “tu elegiste las canciones, entonces tu te vas a hacer la promoción”

Noel Gallagher is amazing, I’m glad he made the top of the coolest guy in the UK. I actually pretty much prefer his songs rather than his brother and listen to them on my iPod all the time! Yes, I’m “MAD FER IT!” As well as most of the Oasis fans, I think he’s a genius writer.

Congratulations to him, he totally deserves it! If you haven’t heard of Oasis, I’m shocked, you should get their Stop The Clocks CD which has a lot of their biggest hits on there. I would give you mine, but it’s been played over 500 times and it’s starting to skip.
