Me and Emma took Ethan to the annual National Air and Space Museum’s Stephen F. Udvar-Hazy Center “Air & Scare” celebration. We’ve never been, but I heard good things and there were rumors of Star Wars characters taking over the place. That ended up being a bit of an understatement – they were everywhere!

Having the cast on was a bummer, but Ethan had a great time mingling with the Star Wars characters and collecting candy along the way. Some pics from the event. Full set on Flickr.

Post Script:  Star Wars is life as is bacon.

Il arrive un moment où toute personne qui s’intéresse un minimum à la mode a envie de passer au niveau supérieur, de bruler sans remords son jeans Célio, son pull Kookaï ou ses baskets sans marque, pour enfin devenir cet icône du style qui magnétise tous les regards dans la rue. Sauf que dans pas mal de cas, ce n’est pas parce qu’on donne un rein pour s’acheter un vêtement que celui ci est forcément beau. La preuve avec 5 hoodies carrément hors de prix, qui vous feront regretter votre petite veste à capuche Uniqlo à 40 euros bien cool (j’aurai bien aimé mais non, ceci n’est pas un post sponsorisé).

5. Doudoune sans manche Moncler, 1000 dollars. Parce que tous les pseudo branchouilles squattent leur doudoune brillante depuis 2 saisons déjà, que le look de bûcheron c’est cool uniquement sur une chemise, que les escalators du métro ne sont pas des tire-fesses et qu’il y a des chances pour que votre grand-mère vous confonde avec son plaid et s’endorme en boule sur vous.

4. Hoodie Christopher Raeburn, 1200 dollars. Parce que si vous regardez bien, ce n’est rien de plus qu’un simple K-Way, que les gens vont se moquer de la capuche en pensant que c’est une imitation Adidas, que vous êtes obligé d’avoir un haut uni pour ne pas être ridicule à cause de l’effet de transparence, et qu’il y a des chances pour que des paléontologues vous prennent pour un fossile de moustique conservé dans de l’ambre dominicain si vous restez trop longtemps immobile.

3. Hoodie Star Wars, 95 dollars. Parce que les hoodies Stormtroopers Ecko étaient vraiment mortels mais que c’est une mauvaise idée de décliner R2-D2, que vous allez passer votre journée à repousser des nerds en transe, que vous n’avez pas d’oeil qui projette une vidéo de Ben Kenobi, et qu’il y a de fortes chances pour que n’ayez pas d’enfant super mignon avec son déguisement de Dark Vador sous la main pour justifier votre tenue.

2. Gilet en peau de lapin, 12 650 dollars. Parce que même si ce n’est pas un hoodie, ce gilet donne l’allure d’un berger et force les femmes à se conduire comme des moutons, vu qu’elles achètent toutes le même modèle. Et qu’en fait le prix comprend aussi la chirurgie esthétique du nez, Amerie vous confirmera.

1. Hoodie Hermès, 75 000 dollars. Parce que tuer un crocodile et utiliser sa peau pour en faire autre chose que des chaussures de pimp, c’est très mal, et parce que 75 000 dollars quoi, bordel. Vous avez besoin d’une autre raison?

Das Star Wars Universum erhält Zuwachs. Es ist zwar keine neue Trilogie geplant, aber ein neues Buch wird Ende Oktober veröffentlicht (27.10.09). Wäre ja nichts besonderes. Aber der Inhalt ist doch eine nähere Betrachtung wert. Geschrieben wurde der Band von Joe Schreiber, der schon Horrorromane mit klangvollen Namen wie ‘Besessen” oder ‘Untot’ veröffentlicht hat. Daher sollte die Marschrichtung klar sein. Und wer noch nicht drauf kommt, hier vor der Synopsis (vorsicht Spoiler) erstmal das Buchcover:

Jupp. Ganz klar gehts hier um eine Art Zombievirus, der das Imperium befällt. Hier die Inhaltsangabe des Verlages:

Natürlich hat ein solcher Leckerbissen die Phantasie einiger Fans beflügelt, die Ihre kreative Energie in teils thrashige Trailer umgesetzt haben. Doch einen davon fand ich echt gut und den will ich euch natürlich nicht vorenthalten:

Das Online-Multiplayer Game ‘Star Wars Galaxy’ von Sony Online Entertainemt , greift diese Geschichte auch auf und bringt einzelne Quests raus, die auf ‘Death Troopers’ basieren.  Zombies abballern im Star Wars Look? Hört sich richtig gut an. Mal sehen, vielleicht gibts ja demnächst ne Review vom Zak.

Illustrator Brian Despain animates a mystical assembly line of robots that roam the stark backdrop of bleak and innocuous industry. As a self-professed Star Wars fan, it is no wonder that Despain creates droids that seem to be marching towards some unseen force or contemplating their scrap heap origins. Numbers also factor heavily into his work emphasizing individuality’s rally against factory uniformity. The number twenty-three emerges quite a bit as well which intriguingly brings up the “23 Enigma“.   Despain’s robots could invite you to tea at an electrical picnic one moment and ask you to take on stormtroopers in 1950’s dystopia the next.  Brian’s work was most recently exhibited at Roq la Rue Gallery as apart of the “Lush Life” group show.

So I finally did it. Profile picture up. Yeah baby!
And yes, its one of those “I look so hot, I;m gonna take a picture of myself” pictures. In other words – a vain pic. Well, I really liked my outfit that day, and it was one of my last days in my dorm at SFU (Burnaby, BC) before going home to Edmonton… I’ll tell that story another time. (It involves me going to Vancouver for a summer Korean course… plus i LOVE Vancouver) I took pictures of every room in the townhouse/dorm I was staying in – well every room except my roommates’ spaces. This was a picture of the bathroom. lol.

So, list of things to do:

1. study more
2. pick up photos from london drugs
3. write a letter of introduction
4. learn how to hyperlink on blogs

Notice how the list got longer even though I just knocked some stuff off? Argh. Such is life… even when its simple.
