I always wondered about what does this small green leave means in celebrating St. Patrick’s day..

As the history says this man was truly religious man who got his beliefs in early age. All his life he dedicated his preaches to God. Today the day of St. Patrick is the one of the widespreadly celebrated days not only in his country of origin – Ireland but also all over the world on March  17. Once I had a chance to see the celebration of the St. Patrick in US. It was very interesting and the parade was so different from what I’ve seen before. Many people wearing different outlets and funny clothing walked all over the city streets. People are so happy, bars and pubs are full of crowd that stay there till the morning lights…drinking traditional Irish beer and beverages..

Well I was going to make this post yesterday, but I had to finish a movie I was filming for school. But one things before the other caught my eye secondly, but its more retarded.

Clearing Things Up

Shadow2446, or what ever your name is now. Buddy, we have known each other a long time. And you have changed a lot. Those “Nachos” in the picture are actually “NSSA” who happens to be a branch of the Nachos, but, some of their members are actually against the Nachos told by Person1233. And on top of that, they declared war on us mid-recruitment session. That is why I called them lame. Really Shadow, where did the Shadow I know go?

Boomer, I am sorry if I don’t appear to be trying to stop the Renegade problem you guys are having. But I cannot just dictate the RPF troop’s decisions. I’ve talked with Omega, his decision is quite clear to me as of now. Hes not even an owner on RPF chat anymore. 

And the posts, thats called Journalism. And that is what gets the RPF site its hits. We have been allies since WWIII and over time I have noticed a lot of corrupt things within your army alone. So your the ones to point fingers? And say that RPF is the problem for the problem you brought upon yourselves? Really, Im going to go with Jedimaster17’s idea and talk to my troops which I have been trying to. 

More than just RPF hates ACP. 

But do you see us provoking a war because of it? Armies have changed a lot, wars are so non existent that we push ourselves down to the basic levels of disagreement just for reasons. Boomer, stop trying to point fingers, be a leader for once, manage your own problems. Somebody has always had to help you. Even being the ACP leader! Prove me wrong Boomer. 

This leads me to a poll,

Normally, I would have went all out in raging anger on you guys like on The Colbert Report, but I really don’t feel like making things worst or being a complete asshole today…  But yeah, some people need to learn how to take a joke. Top Five Nominees 

Ok, I didn’t know that you were in one of the plays. That means I have to make fun of you, and the other plays. Because writing stories with space ninjas can be fun.

Fairy Fables: A small play that was less noticed, but love by many because it was so much like the Fable series for the Xbox 360. If anybody got back stage, you would have seen the R-Rated stuff in the film. After she escaped from the Big Bad Wool she goes on an action adventure where she must work with Bruce from Die Hard to kill The Terminator. It results in them getting stuck on a bus where they cannot go under 55 miles per hour, but it ends off in her casting a spell that turns people into Fish so nobody ACTUALLY died when the bus crashed into the side of the old GPR site. 

Shadow Man and Gamma Face: Everybody knows the classic story of Shadow Face and Gamma Man, they go around saving people from giant robots. But in the recent Shadow Dude and Gamma Wad they had to fight Squidzoid- But Guy Shadow forgot his pants! Boy, what a great play that was. It all ended with Squidzoid malfunctioning and killing 20…

Back To The Future Part 3: Some may argue if this play was good or not, or just a cheesy knock off of  Back To The Future that doesn’t follow its plot at all. I mean, making a train go over 85 miles per hour and then having it crash into a ravine after going back to the future, and having the time machine finally destroyed, and then his friend “The Doc” coming back in a time machine thats in a form of a train and giving him an awesome picture sounds nothing like Back To The Future Part 3. 

Quest Of The Pink Puffle: I personally thought this play was quite well thought out. But it was quite bogus. To get the pissed off Pink Puffle she had to replace it with a Golden one. Smart thinking if your only thinking about accomplishing the mission and not selling it for 500,000 dollars and getting a fake puffle to replace with the Pink one. 

Ruby Goes To Jail: After a priceless Ruby goes missing, it is the police’s mission to find it. After a young investigator with facts comes into the office one day, they know who it is. It was Ruby all along! She thought nobody would notice her Ruby dress, she would have got away with it, if it wasn’t for those meddling kids! Then the play follows the story line of the movie “Madea Goes To Jail by Tyler Perry”.

Propaganda Minute!

Ok, well since I don’t like to do Army News in these posts anymore because it takes too long. I’m adding a new segment called “Propaganda Minute!” where it shows a picture that spoofs whats happening here and now. Lets begin.

Satire: (I’m not going to tell you what it means for now on, but since this is the first..) ACP is strong and fierce, but they can’t solve even the smallest problems with out help.

Fight The Good Fight

Woensdagochtend 06:00 (na St. Patricks Day )
Opstaan en douchen, sleutel vergeten dus hard kloppen om iemand mij binnen te laten (waren ze blij mee!)

Om 07:00 werd ik opgehaald door Kimbo in de ‘Mojo’ bus om naar Cresent’s Head te gaan. Tijdens de busreis werd er een blik van australische hip-hop en surfmuziek opengetrokken. Na een busrit van 6 uur aangekomen op plek van bestemming.

’s Middags volgde de eerste surfles: dat is hard werken! Donderdagochtend waren er ‘beginners-golven’ dus het opstaan ging aardig. Na een lange pauze was het tij en de wind veranderd en was het tobben om op een golf te komen.

Vrijdagochtend rond zonsopkomst naar het strand gegaan en nog even surfen voordat de bus vertrok. Helemaal geweldig (zie de foto’s!!). Sommige hebben dolfijnen gezien, ik heb ze gemist helaas. Geen haaien gezien.

Nu opweg naar Bayron Bay, daar verblijf ik de komende 3 dagen. Nog 2 dagen surfen en dan terug naar Newcastle.

PS: een leeg strand voor +/- 40 surfers is echt geweldig om mee te maken. Er is echt niets: geen strandwacht, geen strandtent, niets!

More sketches from San Francisco. I trotted into Washington Square, at the heart of North Beach, where nearby there were many bars and cafes, and all around me there were green-t-shirted revellers galloping (for want of a better word) from pub to pub in honour of St. Patrick’s Day. I sat and drew the church of Saints Peter and Paul. 

I saw an unpleasant sight. One of the gallopers in green, a rather plump lady, had some embarassing sweatmarks on her shirt. Not just coming from under the armpits, but around the whole bra area. A hoop of dark sweat around a lurid green t-shirt. It was a pretty cold day, I might add. I recomposed, and walked down a street where some interesting jazz or whatever (cool old men with trumpets and a big double bass, and an oboe and stuff) wafted out of an old looking pub, the Savoy Tivoli. It was pretty cool, so I went in and got a drink and attempted to capture the scene, failing spectacularly; however, I was trying different pens and a different style, and I don’t normally draw musicians, so funny enough I quite like the results, unmannered though they are. 

There weren’t as many St.Patrick’s drinkers in there, but plenty more everywhere else. America really goes mad for it, more so even than in Irish north London which is my background. It’s ironic; years ago, St.Patrick’s day was the one day in Ireland when pubs were closed (presumably, people go out drinking because they think that’s all the Irish do or something). It’s funny how in America, people get very sensitive on tv and in advertising with the word ‘Christmas’, or even ‘Easter’, yet nobody bats an eyelid at exclamations celebrating the religious day of a famous saint. And all this ‘luck of the Irish’ stuff you see everywhere? I don’t get it, over the years the Irish have been one of the unluckiest peoples in history (living next to the English didn’t help much); possibly all of the four-leaf clovers plastered everywhere means that people don’t realise it’s the three-leafed shamrock that symbolises Ireland. And another irony: St.Patrick’s colour was actually blue.

I did my bit though; got myself a nice big green margarita, shortly after sketching my last urban scene of the day, a cable-car waiting on California St. Back to my typical old way of sketching. More to come.

Iona’s, (a small bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn), was the spot for a great St. Patty’s Day adventure. The residents of Williamsburg enjoy cheap drinks, a hip dj that played up-beat irish tunes, and a huge backyard that had a small fire place.

Iona’s is definitely the place to be, anytime of the year.

will you feel better?

Today we finally finished the whole job for my brothers work. I swear, every inch on my body aches. I can’t even put in words how much my body hurts, but it was all worth it. I got to help my brother, and I also go to make some money. So I’m a happy duck. It took a week and two/three days to get done. I had to pack boxes, and do a lot of grunt work. I’m pretty exahsted. However, I still wanted to post a blog about my day.

When I finally got home I took a break and talked to my dad for a bit. It was nice to be home, except for the fact that I then wanted to collapse. My dad told me that we were going to out to eat; his treat. We went to this new restaurant on Sunrise. I forget what it’s called but it’s a steakhouse and it’s right next to a Food Maxx.  The food was awesome, and I am now full & satisfied. 

I wore green today, by the way. I swear, I was so pimped out in Irish stuff it was ridiculous. I was even wearing shamrock boxers, that’s how cool I am. I got two pinches today, next year I’ll get more. 

Oh yeah, today I made it my goal to burn into my brother’s head that Mark Walberg is hot. So now he’ll never let it go, but at least he now knows my type. My sister-in-law tells me he has three nipples? I don’t know if that’s true. But if it is, then that’s cool. 

If you didn’t know who Meghan McCain was last week, you probably do now. And it’s probably because of Laura Ingraham, a right-wing radio host who does not want anyone to hear McCain out. But the ironic thing is, she has drawn mega attention to McCain by calling her, among other things, a “useful idiot” who is being used by the media.  Ingraham is trying to convince people that they shouldn’t be listening to Meghan McCain because she is young (a “Valley-girl gone awry”), attractive, and not thin, but in doing so, she has helped McCain get more TV and Internet exposure than she had during the whole Presidential campaign! (Hey, I would never have written a blog entry about Meghan McCain if it weren’t for Laura Ingraham).

Ingraham hasn’t attacked McCain’s ideas, because that would make sense and doesn’t follow the m.o. of the radical right; rather, she has attacked McCain’s physical characteristics and age: Yes, in addition to that Valley girl comment, she called her a “plus-size model” hoping to be picked for an ”MTV show.”  

Is Meghan McCain considerably more attractive than Laura Ingraham? Yes, but not that it matters. Is Laura Ingraham thinner than Meghan McCain? Yes, but not that it matters. Is Meghan McCain younger than Laura Ingraham? Why, yes, by over 20 years. But not that it matters. I’m not quite sure what Ingraham hoped to accomplish, but I’m guessing it wasn’t the actual result: a bevy of articles and blog entries like this one, where their photographs are placed side-by-side:

In response to McCain’s request over Twitter that Ingraham stop talking about her body, Ingraham said: “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the punditry business. Next time, just for fun, Meghan should pretend that she’s had a change of heart and is now a pro-life conservative. Then she’ll really see how the Mean Girls treatment feels” (Times Online). 

Say, what?!

Being a pundit means people get to critique your body all they want? Awesome, that  means we’re allowed to call Rush Limbaugh a big, fat idiot– Sweet! Accurate as it is, I’ve grown a tidge bored with the “hypocritical druggie” bashing I’ve stuck to for a past couple of years.

Or is Laura just hazing the new girl into the GOP’s Blonde Pundit Sorority? Did Peggy Noonan inflict a harsh, secret initiation ritual on Dana Perino? Hot! If only the GGW cameras had caught that moment!  

Or is Ingraham saying that since she’s been blasted by the left, it’s perfectly okay for her to attack Meghan McCain? I don’t know that Jesus would approve. Plus, isn’t that like saying that I am justified in stealing a car if mine is stolen first? When I insult the likes of Laura Ingraham or Ann Coulter, it’s because they’re hypocrites, not because they’re unattractive, bony, bottle blonde, old, or shrill.  Nope, it’s because they went TO LAW SCHOOL and GET PAID TO TALK, oftentimes railing against feminism, when without feminism, they wouldn’t have been able to attend law school. Without feminism, they wouldn’t be paid to talk for a living. Without feminism, Ann Coulter wouldn’t have had the chance to be fired not only from MSNBC, but The National Review, too.  Without feminism, Laura Ingraham wouldn’t have an “addictive” radio show or a podcast!

I’ve noticed a propensity with these types to fabricate and even invent statistics when it’s convenient*.  I’ve never insulted Meghan McCain, and it’s because I haven’t heard bullshit from her. In fact, the other day when Rachel Maddow asked McCain if she agreed with her father about the economy, she said she didn’t know enough about economics to judge. IMO, some honesty from a Republican is a refreshing change. No wonder why the others are attacking her– “I don’t know” isn’t supposed to be in the GOP lexicon.

Oh, Laura, I haven’t seen this many logical fallacies since  my last batch of freshman essays. Of course, there’s ad hominem (that’s fancy Latin for attacking the person instead of the argument). Basically, Meghan McCain asserted that the Republican party could do better in reaching out to young people. McCain said that extremism (like that of Ann Coulter) is not good for the party.  Since Ingraham had nothing of substance to contribute in rebuttal, she responded by remarking on McCain’s body, looks, and age.

Ingraham has created a red herring– she’s trying to make the discussion about whether or not a 24-year-old can have anything to say about politics. Or if someone that pretty (and, I have a hunch, naturally blonde) can have an opinion about politics. Or if someone who has curves can have an opinion about politics. And Ingraham is reinforcing what feminists have fought against for a very, very long time, but we’ll never get over until clueless monsters like Ingraham knock it the fuck off— It’s the idea that, ladies, to a large portion of the population, we are bodies. Nothing more. Thus, we should have no say about our bodies; if our bodies are kept up front and center they do not belong to us.  And women’s bodies are some pretty good real estate. (Actually, I’m not exactly sure why the religious right wants ownership over other people’s bodies. It’s an interesting question. It must be related to their obsession with sex. For an interesting discussion about the difficulties in developing healthy sexuality in such an anti-feminist environment, see the terrific book Full Frontal Feminism by Jessica Valenti of feministing.com ).

Abortion? Emergency (or any, for that matter) contraception? Not about the sweet little unborn babies. It’s about women’s bodies. (If the issue really were the children, the right wouldn’t have such a spaz attack about providing health insurance for children, WIC, or food stamps). The fact that selling a vibrator gets you thrown in jail in Alabama doesn’t have anything to do with . . . morals?  Hey, what is their justifcation for making them illegal, anyway? Well, anyway, whatever the fake reason is, the real reason is to try to maintain some ownership of women’s bodies. The mere idea of a woman getting herself off and owning her own sexuality is terribly frightening to these sex-obsessed right wing radicals. And I’m not sure why. What is the religious right’s obsession with sex all about? Maybe if they got over it, they wouldn’t transfer the obsession to their kids and then the teen pregnancy rate could drop. Just sayin’.

This whole war on science, yeah, it’s about women’s bodies. Take stem-cell research. It’s not about the “sanctity of life” or any other such nonesense. If it were about life, creating the embryos would be the sin, not the using-of-the-stem-cells part of it. If it were about respecting life, not using advances to help people with things like spinal cord injuries or Alzheimer’s would be the sin. If the war on stem-cell research got canceled, the religious right would lose just a tiny bit more of their hold on women’s bodies. And remember all those people fighting over what should happen with Terri Shiavo’s body? In 2005, George Bush even interrupted his vacation to sign some legislation to keep her body on life support. Did he do that to save Terri Shaivo’s life? Of course not; she hadn’t had a life in years. She’d been in a vegetative state for 15 years at that point.  Her body was some sort of pro-life symbol for the religious right, and the real victim was the husband, whose life was on hold. And at the time, I remember thinking if Terri had been a man, it wouldn’t have meant so much to the right.

The religious right voice their desire to own our bodies by policing our reprodution and by calling us fat or hot (or not) when we get the crazy idea in our heads that we’re smart, have something to say, and deserve to be heard.  They voice their desire to keep ownership of our bodies away from us by calling for abstinence-only programs instead of actual sex ed. They voice their desire to own our bodies by encouraging girls to sign virginity pledges and to even have ceremonies with their dads. (Yeah! How creepy is that? A ceremony in which a girl says her body belongs to her father until she gets married, when it becomes property of her husband. Icky. So my desperate cry to Laura Ingraham is  a plaintive “come on, sister!”  We already get this crap from everywhere around us. Don’t contribute to the old-school tricks of reducing women to our naughty bits. Stick to your inane links (on http://www.lauraingraham.com/) about the entrepreneurial spirit inspired by Obama (“Obama Sushi: You’ll Come Barack For More”). Keep up the good work in keeping Middle America terrified of and pissed off at immigrants (“Illegal Aliens Get Creative”).  And kudos on your hard-hitting and immensely useful reader polls (Hold onto your hats– at the time of this writing, 51% of Ingraham’s homepage visitors report to wearing green on St. Patrick’s Day!  However, we are told firmly that the poll is not scientific, so do not use that statistic for anything official, or really, anything at all).

*Laura Ingraham is notorious for lying, especially about her “two week” trip to Iraq in 2006. In fact, the observant folks at http://www.lauraingrahamsucks.com/ are keeping a running list of Laura’s lies, including recent false information she gave about Obama’s stimulus plan. As for Ann Coulter, she has been busted more than once for plagiarism and inventing footnotes.

HAPPY IRISH DAY TO YA !

i am proud to say that this is one of my fav holidays along with July 4th and New Years! I am 3/4 Irish so my family takes to St.Patricks day and celebrates! i must say i used to go balls to the wall when it came to this day, blunts-bongs-beer, but there was none of that this year or last year for that matter, so i celebrated like any other family would…WENT OUT TO EAT! we went to a Thai restaurant for dinner that just opened up. i will say i wasn’t hungry going in to dinner which caused much confusion and indecisiveness…BUT i settled on something and it was very good!

rewind to the day:
went to the gym and then did yoga which was marvelous to get a nice sweat in after a rough past couple days (mehh) and afterwards you wouldn’t believe it if i told ya..but the instructor asked if i would be interested in teaching a class! i would have to get certified and what not and obviously i have  A LOT to learn but i am flattered and feel great about it and am REALLY considdering it. so if you have any advice..it would be much appreciated

i finally got some Barney Butter…at about $9 a pop it was pretty worth it! i def am enjoying it..but i don’t know if i’m completely sold on getting it over and over again. i’m thinking about ordering the individual packets offline but ughh im sure it’s just as expensive.

NEW CAR! ok not really NEW, but for me it’s new. it’s been my dad’s baby for 10 YEARS! and he FINALLY decided to get a new ride..SO i got rid of my jeep liberty and opted for the beemer instead…pishhh duh! i’m def loving getting more gas mileage especially since i have to drive to jersey twice a week..and i am DEF loving the speed this baby packs.

i am TRULY thankful and blessed.

I’m gonna enjoy St.Patty’s Day by going to see Primal Scream in concert tonight @The Fillmore, I also plan to drink some tasty beer.  I still remember buying “Screamadelica” on cassette back in 1991, and I probably just dated myself even more so by saying that.

BOSTON, MA – Customs officials have seized 14 kilos of shamrock seeds at Dulles Airport. The seeds would have grown 38 kilos of “Lucky Green” with a street value of $150,000.

Officials were tipped off by an odd looking old lady who smelled strongly of corned beef.  When approached by airport authorities she was revealed to be two Leprechauns, one standing on the other’s shoulders.  Upon questioning, the two agreed to give names and addresses for their contacts to police, but only in the form of a riddle.

A massive raid that coordinated the efforts of the NSA, ATF, FBI and INF was conducted in the early morning hours at the compound where the seeds were headed.  At a farm in rural Massachusetts, agents entered the complex surprising all the workers.  14 Leprechauns were arrested for smuggling, tax evasion, and possession of controlled lucky substances.  Several members of the gang escaped when their captors blinked, allowing them time to vanish.  Police are still searching for the missing Leprechauns.

Agents found several pots of gold, two hundred thousand in American bills, bank ledgers indicating multiple foreign accounts, and several fake passports hidden in the basement.

Black market shamrocks cost government 84 million dollars last year.  This bust before the Saint Patricks Day holiday will keep millions from experimenting with shamrocks; believing themselves to be Irish, calling in sick to work, making poor alcohol related decisions, or unnatural acts with cabbage.

It’s March 17th and the “home turf” of Glen of Imaal Terriers is pretty obvious by their name so HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY.

What should be the blog of the day? Leprachauns, Guinness and Riverdance would satisfy some but maybe a bit too cliched (even for us) so to honour the day and to give the owners of these great dogs due encouragement why not have a look at this. These will be excellent, now that Spring is coming, to really help put that little extra condition on your Glen. After all that activity on returning home you can always settle down in the evening with this It was hoped Marmite would have repeated its Guinness Limited Edition but it seems not.
