This is a memorial in the Vancouver neighbourhood of Strathcona that is dedicated to honouring the memory of black musician, Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970). Hendrix did not spend a lot of time in Vancouver during his lifetime, but his paternal grandmother, Nora Hendrix, was a fixture in the Vancouver black community known as Hogan’s Alley (until it was destroyed by the City of Vancouver in the late 1960s/early 1970s).
