StoogeTV.com is a website where people upload and broadcast live TV for others to watch—mostly sports or sports-related TV. Everything you watch is free—without registration or special software.

Here’s how the site works:

First, the homepage. Looks like this:

Notice the green tabs on the top right. Click “Channels” to get to the games (everything else is window dressing really). Once inside, you’ll see the TV screen on the left. In the middle, the channels. And on the far right, a chat board.

The chat board is where moderators and members post the channel number for the game. Sometimes an “Access Code” is required–unless you read differently, the password for any channel is always “stoogetv.com”:

So, you type it in and hit submit. Seconds later, you’re watching that hockey game in the picture above. But there’s another way to watch games—follow the links posted in the chat room.

These links are posted by members inside the chat board like this:

You’ll start seeing them 5-10 minutes before gametime. There are two types of links: the ones that swoop you to a website airing the game (like Justin.TV) or the ones that link you in with a private broadcast, which are usually the best quality.

However, private broadcasts limit the number of users who can join and stream the video in order to keep the buffer rate low. These links are only valid for roughly 15 seconds, so be on your toes. But don’t worry if you miss one. New links are posted every 3-5 minutes until the game finishes. So, if you don’t immediately see a channel number or link, don’t freak out. It’ll come.

It’s also a good idea to show up early—a lot of the quality streams happen right before the game starts.

Neulich wunderte ich mich noch (parallel zu meinen Gedanken über Fernsehen2.0) ob es denn nicht irgendwo einen Dienst gibt der für mich diverse Fernsehsender nach Sendungen zum Download abgrast und mir dies möglichst als RSS-Feed präsentiert. Nach einigen Minuten des Stöberns im Netz hab ich den Gedanken aufgegeben.

Das blöde an der Sache: Die kleine Firma bei der ich seit einem knappen Monat arbeite hat gleich als erstes Projekt auf ihrer Seite eine Platform angegeben die ziemlich genau dies tut (Stream-tv.de).
Jetzt könnte man meinen ich hätte einfach eins der Projekte meines Arbeitgebers noch nicht gekannt (auch wenn es mit eines der wichtigeren ist), was zwar ziemlich peinlich aber nicht unbedingt so extrem schlimm ist.
Ich Idiot bin aber bereits vorher mehrmals über das Projekt gestolpert (habe Gesprächen darüber zugehört, habe mir die Seite angesehen, …) und mir war durchaus bekannt dass es existiert… aber ich habs irgendwie geistig nicht auf die Reihe bekommen mein Privatleben und die Probleme des selbigen mit diesem Fakt aus meinem Berufsleben zu korrellieren.

Das lässt einfach keinen anderen Schluss zu: Ich bin vollständig und uneingeschränkt merkbefreit!

BTW: Ich habe einige Tage überlegt ob dieser Beitrag unter Werbung fällt und daher lieber von mir ausgesondert werden sollte, aber da ich selbst mit dem Projekt noch nicht wirklich was zu tun hatte und es eher um meine Unfähigkeit als um ein Anpreisen dieser Seite geht, lass ichs mir selbst mal durchgehen.

BBC1 has just announced that within the next year, all of its programmes will be simulcast as a live video stream on the internet. This makes it the first of BBC’s analogue TV channels to be aired on the web – ITV has already been simulcasting ITV1, ITV2, ITV3 and ITV4 for a year.

The channel will be available via their website, bbc.co.uk, which is being relaunched with improved listings and programme information. BBC Director, Mark Thompson, said that “building on the success of the iPlayer, we want to develop bbc.co.uk to include a broad range of the BBC’s broadcast content, as well as new and interactive forms of media that enable audiences to interact with and contribute to the website.”

Despite the fact that we no longer need a TV to watch BBC1, they are still going to make us pay the licence fee: “You need a TV licence to use any television receiving equipment such as a TV set, set-top box, video or DVD recorder, computer or mobile phone to watch or record TV programmes as they are being shown on TV.”

Achtung! Es folgt ein Beitrag dessen Zuordnung irgendwo zwischen Werbung, Spam und Hilfegesuchen einzuordnen ist.

Es schmerzt mich ein “2.0″ ohne den geringsten Hauch von wenigstens Ironie oder besser noch Sarkasmus im Titel zu haben, doch ich muss an dieser Stelle mal die Frage an euch richten.

Kennt ihr Web2.0-Enterprise-Blogs (Das sind sinnlose Buzzwords? BINGO!) denen man Produkte aus diesem Bereich vorlegen könnte. Sprich: Kennt ihr jemanden der gerne über neue Produkte meines Brötchengebers informiert werden möchte, den man mal via Mail/Jabber/wasauchimmer ansprechen und fragen könnte ob er darüber berichten will.

Das Ganze soll weniger einen Spam-Charakter als vielmehr einen informativen haben. Blogs mit geringerer Reichweite sind also durchaus manchmal besser wenn sie sich genauer mit dem Thema beschäfftigen.

Diese Aktion wurde ihnen Präsentiert von “seto meint“, dem Blog der Firma die mir derzeit meine Brötchen für etwas Arbeit finanziert.

Beispielprodukte wären z.B.:

• Stream-TV - Eine Platform auf der diverse Online-Sendungen der großen Sender wie ARD/Pro7/RTL7… gesammelt und als Newsfeed aggregiert werden
• M-Pathy - Ein Tracking tool für Webseiten, inkl. Mousetracking und allen möglichen anderen Späßen
• Jiffr - Eine Dating-Platform auf Bild-Basis (wurde erst kürzlich zu einem der dämlichsten Domain-Namen gewählt)
