The classic image of bass fishing is lazing in a rowboat in the middle of a lake on a bright afterno

The classic image of bass fishing is lazing in a rowboat in the middle of a lake on a bright afternoon. However [*COMMA] some smart bass enthusiasts have discovered that the most effective way to get great bass in the summer months is by fishing in the dead of night. There are a lot of reasons why night fishing for bass is a smart idea, so if you have not tried evening fishing yet, give it a go and be prepared to reel in some winners. Summer is the most popular season for fishing, that has both positive and negative aspects for athletes. Because bait and gear are in so much demand during the warmer months of the year, these goods are plentiful and simple to find as retailers stock up to get the best bait and tackle to their customers. [**] as fishing fans head to lakes and streams all over the country, all too commonly the peace and quiet of the sport becomes quite evasive as multiple sportsmen jockey for position on the same water. The summer crowds can take away plenty of the excitement of bass fishing. If you choose to fish at odd times of the night, it’s probable that you are going to never run into the problem of overcrowding. Because only a little share of bass fishermen hit the water in the dark, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding a pond or a lake offering lots of solitude and a supply of fish that is all yours to take away.

another excuse why bass fishing at night during the summer can turn out to be a kind of fisherman’s jackpot has to do with the habits of the bass themselves. Bass like to stay cool, so they tend to head for the deepest waters that they can find during the high heat of lunchtime and afternoon. The deeper down in the pool the fish are lurking, the more difficult they’re to catch and reel in. This can cause fruitless afternoons of sitting in the sweltering heat and catching extraordinarily small bass. [**] during the cool nighttime hours, the bass come much more quickly into shallow waters. This indicates that they are simpler for athletes to find and to catch.

though night bass fishing can be much more rewarding than attempting to snag these evasive creatures in the day, there are some downsides to night fishing. One problem that many sportsmen are surprised by during late night expeditions is insects. Be certain to pack some bug repellent to help emerge from your night on the water without becoming a victim of mosquitoes and other warm weather pests. Another issue to think about is safety. Passing time in a boat when visibility is low thanks to the shortage of light can be more deadly than boating in the daytime, so be sure to take all the necessary precautions to protect yourself and your fishing companions.

One for Christian Fletcher …

Setting out while still dark, Luke and myself arranged to meet up with Leon out the back of the Bates Motel, Well not the real Bates Motel, it sure had that feeling. First we had to get Luke out of his dreamlike state on his I’m sure was super comfee floor bed LOL … We headed off into the dark down hwy 395 on our way to Silver Lake coffee shots in hand and wearing as much warm gear as I had. Being a West Australian cold is like your alien long lost cousin, you don’t mind them showing up, but would rather they did not stay long …

We arrived at Silver Lake before dawn and proceeded to head in 3 different directions. While we did not get the clouds at sunrise as we had hoped the lake itself is quite pretty and we shot as much as we could before vacationers showed up and really took the nice foreground interest as themselves …

After shooting the lake Luke and I headed to the other side of the lake where we saw a little more color. Trekked around the marshes full of cottonwoods and aspens before heading down to the road to a spot we had seen the day earlier in passing.

Arriving at the spot we again headed in 2 different directions and proceeded to shoot the area for a good 45 mins before heading to our local breakfast spot up the road for one of those toasted egg and salad croissants …

Heres an image taken of the creek area on the way back for breakfast. These areas are like a dime a dozen you just have to stop by the road, hike into the tree line and then follow the creek/stream either left of right … A couple of weeks later all these trees would of been in full bloom … Shame I could not be in 8 places at once …

While driving along looking for reference material for painting, I came across this view. It seemed to be a painting in itself! The one thing that would have made it much better would be if the creek was full. We had been without rain for quite a while and the water level was very low. This photo was taken about ten miles west of Greensburg on September 14, 2009.

Poznan is located in central-western Poland, in the central part of Wielkopolska province. The city is located within the three physiographic mezoregions ie the western part of Poznan in Lakeland, east of the plain Wrzesinski, and the oldest part of town is located on the bottom axis oriented along a north-south Warta Poznan Gorge. These 3 areas are parts of Mazowsze Wielkopolskie Lakeland.

The extent of the administrative boundaries of Poznan in the north-south axis is about 23 km and the east-west axis approximately 24 km. Poznan is a central part of the Poznań agglomeration. The city borders with 11 other municipalities that belong to the district of Poznan. Directly borders with two other towns ie Luboń and Swarzędz.

The town is situated in the Warta River valley and in the valleys of smaller streams as Bogdanka Cybina and Main.

Poznan is considered a historic capital of Wielkopolska.

Location of the city due to geographical conditions. Location in the valley and Bogdanka Cybina and Central were the swiftest way from east to west allowing gently descend to the bottom of the Warta River, which at this point by dividing the number of branches formed a ford. With the development of the city address the differences in altitude spraying the material with lower land elevation. Strongly changed the hydrographic network of the city. Not only reduced the number of branches Warta, but also covered with small feet, and some of the lower reaches of Bogdanka Segankę whether Wierzbak introduced to the municipal sewer system. Nevertheless, the bottom of the valleys of the tributaries are still so important green wedges.

In India, millions of people are affected by floods every year. I have a program of work, very briefl

In India, millions of people are affected by floods every year. I have a program of work, very briefly written below, to make strong embankments using river bed soil in dry season.
Rivers in the Gangetic plain have no borders They carry tons of soil which slowly fills the rivrbed. It is absolutely necessary to dredge the rivers continuously to avoid floods. The excavated sand can be used to make permanent embankments, sufficiently high and at least 50 feet wide at the top, so that these can be well developed as bamboo groves, in addition to accommodating wide roads.
While digging the riverbed, care should be taken to leave a patch of it untouched, which may even be slightly raised so that these may be used as cozways in summer. The cozways, too, must have 50 feet width at the top and sufficient slope and must be strengthened by planting long grass, which grow naturally.
Each lake thus formed must have level bottom so that ,where the terrain permits, we can have long stretches of waterways.
The advantages of the above scheme of river landscaping are:
1.Store water.
2.Recharge ground water.
3.Prevent soil erosion.
4.Prevent rivers changing course.
5.Prevent floods.
6.Use as water transport.
I have read about a system road net work, along the river embankments, well maintained, in Desai district of Assam, which is crisscrossed by rivers and streams. After the coming of British raj, alas, community efforts came to a halt .

I hope my voice will be heard. Floods cause human displacement and consequent misery which can be avoided.

Any proposal involving dredging of the sea bottom, should be approached with abundant caution.

They are finding it very expensive to maintain the Panama canal, because of the continuous silting by the streams, from the sides of the canal.

The Palk Strait connects two powerful oceans of the world, the Indian ocean of the south and the Pacific ocean of the east, the latter one notorious for tsunami. Can we forget the last one?

Engineers have the habit of miscalculating the disadvantageous parameters. They now admit that the silting of Tehri dam is more than what they assumed. As if, it is the fault of the river, not their fault!

The sea bed is subjected to sudden changes caused by undercurrents, earthquakes, bulging or withdrawal of the sea bottom etc. which are yet to be understood. Somewhere the sea bottom goes down, at other places islands come up, indicating upward movement of the bottom level.

The displacement of some islands in the Andaman archipelago was noticed after the last tsunami.

Politicians should keep away from decision making.

And Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou? Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given

And Caleb said unto her, What wouldest thou? Who answered, Give me a blessing; for thou hast given me a south land; give me also springs of water. And he gave her the upper springs, and the nether springs (Josh. 15:18-19).

There are both upper and nether springs. They are springs, not stagnant pools. There are joys and blessings that flow from above through the hottest summer and the most desert land of sorrow and trial. The lands of Achsah were “south lands,” lying under a burning sun and often parched with burning heat. But from the hills came the unfailing springs, that cooled, refreshed and fertilized all the land.

There are springs that flow in the low places of life, in the hard places, in the desert places, in the lone places, in the common places, and no matter what may be our situation, we can always find these upper springs.

Abraham found them amid the hills of Canaan. Moses found them among the rocks of Midian. David found them among the ashes of Ziklag when his property was gone, his family captives and his people talked of stoning him, but “David encouraged himself in the Lord.”

Isaiah found them in the awful days of Sennacherib’s invasion, when the mountains seemed hurled into the midst of the sea, but faith could sing: “There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God. God is in the midst of her: she shall not be moved.”

The martyrs found them amid the flames, and reformers amid their foes and conflicts, and we can find them all the year if we have the Comforter in our hearts and have learned to say with David: “All my springs are in thee.”

How many and how precious these springs, and how much more there is to be possessed of God’s own fullness! A.B. Simpson

I said: “The desert is so wide!”

I said: “The desert is so bare!”

What springs to quench my thirst are there?

Whence shall I from the tempest hide?”

I said: “The desert is so lone!”

Nor gentle voice, nor loving face

Will brighten any smallest space.”

I paused or ere my moan was done!

I heard a flow of hidden springs;

Before me palms rose green and fair;

The birds were singing; all the air

Did shine and stir with angels’ wings!

And One said mildly: “Why, indeed,

Take over-anxious thought for that

The morrow bringeth! See you not

These days in Ireland is like living in an aquarium, water dripping, flowing and moving everywhere causing devastation to peoples homes and livelihoods. With lakes, rivers, streams & bogs bursting their banks almost engulfing all in their path. Puddles dotted everywhere filled with water. With the noise of the constant rain beating on the windows and wind howling around the house, one thinks of those less off who have been affected by this flooding. On the other hand across the miles others are dying daily from a lack of water, the dry drought of the desert lands. Oh how life is dynamic and diverse! As Rollo May says Courage is not the absence of despair; it is rather, the capacity to move ahead in spite of despair. Spare a thought for those less well off than you today!

I have always admired the Native Ameicans for their honoring and blessing the earth. This is my giving thanks to the Native Americans for their teachings that we must relearn to save the animals, people, and our planet.

I am thankful for mother earth as she has provided nourishment and sustenance for our bodies and souls.

I am thankful for the oceans, the rivers, the streams, the ponds, and the lakes, as they have provided us with water to keep our bodies flowing. I am also thankful for them, as they nourish the plants, the flowers, and the crops.

I am thankful for the grasses, the plants, the herbs that provide us the food we eat, the decoration, the beauty, and the medicinal properties to keep us healthy.

I am thankful for the animals, as they are our healers, teachers, and nurturers. They teach us how to bond and to trust.

I am thankful for the trees as they provide us the oxygen we breathe, as well as provide shelter from the storm, a place to rest, and the food we eat.

I am thankful for the birds. When we hear their lovely songs and communication, they are our reminders that we need to listen, to pay attention, and most importantly, be still.

I am thankful for the Winds of the Four Direction who continue to blow, purify the air, and clear the clutter of our minds.

I am thankful for the thunder and lightening, “as they welcome the Spring with their loud voice.”1

I am thankful for Grandmother Moon for honoring and uniting all the women of the world to celebrate their cycles and regulate the tides.

I am thankful for Grandfather Sun who brings us light, energy, and allows for the food to grow.

I am thankful to the stars who also provide lightness in the evening, and also gives Grandfather Sun a rest!!! I am also thankful for the planets, as they hold mysteries of the unknown.

I am thankful for all the unseen things that make everything move, like the “powerful forces, such as atoms, molecules, and spiritual forces.”2

The woods of Ireland are so beautiful in the Autumn/Winter time, they are something we should treasure and value, home to numerous species of plants and animals, so why not get out and talk a walk in your local woods, bring the dog of a walk, get the children to collect the colourful leaves to make a collage, gather moss and cones to make some christmas decorations, enjoy the tranquility and take in the nature all around you. You may also come across some of our built heritage such as walls or bridges. The photographs above show the remains of a walled garden and a beautiful bridge which are also part of our heritage. Many of the woods in Ireland are owned and managed by Coillte. So wrap up warm, wear your rain jacket and explore your local woodland.

At NewTeeVee Live this afternoon, YouTube announced plans to improve the quality of video streams available on its site, upgrading the maximum <strike>upload encoding</strike> streaming quality from 720p to 1080p.

The site will roll out 1080p video over the next few days, said Hunter Walk, director of product management at YouTube. In addition, the company is in the process of re-encoding all previous 1080p-capable videos, and is about halfway done that process, Walk said.

The move comes as the Google-owned (s goog) site is attempting to ramp up monetization of videos from premium content partners. But the uploads are not limited to premium content providers; all users will be able to upload videos in the highest-quality format, Walk said.

The number of high-definition videos that are being uploaded to YouTube has increased dramatically since the company enabled 720p videos. A year ago, about 1 percent of videos were uploaded in HD; that has grown to about 10 percent in recent months, Walk said.

Walk wouldn’t comment on how many viewers currently watch content in HD, but said that the company has been an aggressive promoter of HD video, optimizing for viewer preferences and defaulting to high-quality video when it finds that users have chosen HD over SD streams.

Walk also wouldn’t comment on the effect that the move to 1080p video uploads would have on the company’s cost structure, both in terms of storage and bandwidth. “There’s a lot of speculation about our infrastructure. We make these decisions in an intelligent matter, and we’re able to scale quite gracefully,” he said.

SUMMIT COUNTY — High Country streams may be a little safer from speculative water raids after a Colorado Supreme Court ruling earlier this tightened up the guidelines on claiming water rights for future development.

The case involved the city of Pagosa Springs and Archuleta County, but has local implications as well. Under the ruling, towns and other entities trying to claim water for future growth will be held to a higher standard of showing that the claims are reasonable and based on solid evidence.

According to Drew Peternell, of Colorado Trout Unlimited’s Western Water Project, the Supreme Court laid out a new test for public utilities. In the Pagosa Springs case, the court ruled that the city’s claim for water based on a 100-year planning horizon was not reasonable.

“They have to show that claim for water is based on realistic projections for population growth. They can’t just pull numbers out the air,” Peternell said.

For Summit County, the new rules could apply against conditional (unused) water rights that Denver Water and other Front Ranger water providers have on West Slope streams, Peternell said.

Private appropriators, including ranchers or ski areas, for example, were already subject to stricter rules, but public entities had more leeway in making claims on water.

Undeveloped (conditional is the legal term) water rights are subject to periodic hearings in water court. Every six years, the water providers have to show that their claim on the water is still valid. When the time for those hearings comes, they will be held to the new standards spelled out by the court, Peternell explained.

Denver Water, the biggest player in Summit County, joined in the court case on the side of Pagosa Springs, along with other water providers from around the state.

“We wanted the court to maintain a degree of deference to governmental entities that have to plan for future growth,” said Denver Water attorney Casey Funk.

Funk said the Supreme Court decision established some new factors that water courts have to consider before awarding water rights, but that water providers still do have some flexibility in planning for future needs.

Essentially, the ruling partly clarified some of the conflicts between the “great and growing cities” doctrine, which provides flexibility to plan for future water needs, and the anti-speculation doctrine, which limits pie-in-the-sky water claims.

I became so busy with my day job that I did not have time to update this trip. But here it is. http

I became so busy with my day job that I did not have time to update this trip. But here it is.

http://www.nps.gov/seki/index.htm

On the drive toward Sequoia National Park, I was pretty sure I could make it without filling up my gas tank, and I was right. However, since there are no gas station within park itself, I had to fill up before I entered the park.

The drive toward the park was mostly pleasant. I made it throught the grapevines without getting a speeding ticket (last time I drove there I was issued a $408 ticket for speeding). The views on both sides of the highway was interesting. There were vistas of farm after farm. I saw apple orchards, vineyards, and quaint little farm shops. Unfortunately, I was unable to take any pictures as I was speeding along at about 75 to 80 mph.

The drive up to the mountains was quiet and visually stunning. Seeing the heights of the mountains rise up out of the sky and getting closer and closer. Of course, I was itching to take some photos, but had to settle for seeing the images through my eyes.

Once I got closer and closer to the entrance to the park, the road became very windy. Lots and lots of curves tested my patients, but also forced me to slow down to enjoy the views. The closer I got the more anxious I was to enter the park.

Entrance

While waiting to pay the entrance fee, $20 per car, I aim my small point-and-shoot out my window hoping to get a decent image of something, anything. The above image is what result from my impatience

Once I’m through the entrance, it was a matter of time before I encounter the first sight I want to photograph. Of course, I spent most of the trip in my car driving. This was by no means a thorough trip, it was quite short and barely skims what Sequoia had to offer. At any rate, I quickly come across a photogenic stream that is part of a larger river.

I spent quite a bit of time just admiring the beauty of nature. This stream was at least 100 feet below the road. While I observed the stream, I was also admiring the mountains in the background. At this stop, I was able to identify Moro Rock in the distance. I didn’t know at this point that I could get closer to Moro Rock. I was looking forward to continuing my drive and seeing what else was within my short reach that I would be able to photograph.

Another look at the stream

Here is what the road looks like at my first stop.

At this first stop, I was greeted by Tunnel Rock to my left. The rock is quite amazing as it is lying on smaller boulders, thus allowing people to climb it and walk through it. This is probably the largest boulder I’ve seen.

All of these four images are from my first stop. I had barely begun my drive through Sequoia. I was amazed by the calmness of the scenery around me, and the natural beauty in such abundant. I could have spent hours here. But no, I was on a drive through Sequoia, so I must get moving.

I continued on along the windy path up and up in the mountains. Then, I came across the best place to view Moro Rock’s profile.

After stopping to shoot Moro Rock, I continued to get deeper into Sequoia. It was a long time before I stopped again. I did not stop for food. Instead, I brought along some candy and crackers and water. The next stop was the Giant Forest.

The Giant Forest was the last stop for the trip. I kept driving, though. If I had known what I know now, I would have turned around. But I didn’t, so I kept driving. Eventually, I exited the park and ended up in Fresno. At this point it was a matter of trying to get home. The drive home seemed much longer than the drive to Sequoia. I did make it home after 9pm.

It was a long day and I was tired, but I’m glad I made it. It was a good day.
