Many people have now asked me why I photo-blog & chic-spot. Besides my interest in fashion, I admire people who can wake up in the morning and make an effort to think of what they will wear today and how they would present themselves to the world. Fashion & style have been an imprint on all cultures and times- it somehow defined our characters to a certain extent. Today, fashion designers put in an immense amount of work in trying to create a perfect piece of art for people to wear and enjoy. I respect all designer efforts and even more so the people that appreciate fashion.

Mr. Paco Giuliani who accepted to be our regular Chicago Chic muse is one of those people I admire. An Entrepreneurship professor at UIC, Mr. Giuliani had previously worked with the business of fashion industry in Italy. People normally assume that he’s well dressed because of his Italian origin but he tells us that he simply enjoys fashion and sees no harm in one presenting themselves well in society, with better dressing.

Mr. Paco wears a YSL Rive Gauche Trench coat, A Blazer custom tailored by Italian made Sartoria San Lazzaro, Levis Jeans, a Suit Supply shirt, tie by Lanvin, pocket square by EGO Bologna and shoes by Topman.

I stopped Mrs. Erin Hsu for a quick photo before she hits her evening because of her sparkly shoes but discovered there was more to her outfit. I remember when Badgley Mischka was becoming popular, right around 2005. They were gaining popularity due to beautiful ruffles on their dress lines. The leather lined ruffles on this Badgley coat add an interesting element to what could have been ‘just another coat’. Erin’s had her Louis Vuitton clutch for years-  a timeless fashion accessory that works for special occasions for any season for years and years! The Miu Miu pumps completed the outfit beautifully with fun sparkle and glam! Erin works in the medical field but enjoys being a fashionable Chicagoan!

Spring Blooms a thrifty treasure

Thrift stores are full of buried treasures streaming from one closet to another.  Caroline’s psychedelic vintage shift dress is making a historical statement. This find that she picked up at a local thrift shop is likely circa 1960. Although the designer is unknown, it was the unrestricted color palette that was eye-catching to Caroline. Buying vintage takes time and commitment but when you find a staple piece that fits, buy it. You won’t need much more than a dollop of color confidence to wear it.
