I was fortunate enough to be invited by Warner Music to go see Muse live, and – although not a massive fan – it was a full-on, lazer reaching spectacle with a stage show beamed from another planet!

Admittedly – watching grown men playing air-guitar and mimicking every tone of Matthew Bellamy is a sight I won’t forget for a long time their latest single – “Undisclosed Desires” – thankfully doesn’t include pictures of this!

What it does include is the AWESOME remix by Thin White Duke aka Stuart Price, who is now in a league entirely of his own. His ability of picking the right songs and turn them into stellar end-of-night anthems is admirable, and for each remix he delivers it just gets better and better and better!

Such is also the case with “Undisclosed Desires”, which is Pete Tong’s “Essential New Tune” this week, and with extremely good reason!

A low-bit radio-rip of this has been floating the blog’o’sphere for the last 2 weeks, with Pete babbling all over it, but here you have the full 320 kpbs Monty in all it’s glory!

Stuart Price builds a gargantuan production over Muse’s brilliant song with hooky piano chords, growling synths, swirling FXs and all the drops and builds we’ve come to expect – and love – from Thin White Duke until the whole caboodle just becomes stupendously irresistible, and you won’t have a dry eye in the house.

This sticks in your head like gum under your soles, and it’s a glorious end-of-night moment……..again!

Reach for the nearest lazer!

Sure to cap off what has been one of the best years in their storied history, the Pet Shop Boys are set to release a Christmas EP simply titled….Christmas. It’s due to be released on 14 December in the UK with no US date at the moment and includes five tracks. One of these tracks definitely should be interesting to fans who hadn’t had a chance to see the Boys perform it during the Pandemonium tour…

You spend months looking for certified bangers and then two come along at once. The first is almost a no-brainier featuring Röyksopp with guest vocalist Karin Elisabeth Dreijer (of The Knife and Fever Ray fame) remixed by the supremely talented Stuart Price (aka Thin White Duke). While This Must Be It doesn’t quite reach the heights of Price’s last Röyksopp remix, What Else is There, it gets damn close. The track fizzles and pops before building for the type of restrained climax Price is known for. Immense.

The second banger takes us into 174 territory with recent Med School signing Randomer. While it may be 174 in spirit this track owes more to the recent sounds of dubstep and UK funky. All scattering percussion, stomping synths and dance-hall breakdowns Scapegoat is one to lose your shit to.

For many people playing guitar may seem to be a simply thing to do, but in fact it’s everything but that! Apart from the music theory and techniques, the wannabe guitar player has to choose strings, amps, effects, straps and of course picks!

It’s a common thing for the guitarists to throw the picks to the fans, after the end of some rockin’ song or in the finale, and both Madonna and Monte Pittman have done that! So here are their picks that some very lucky fans were handed!

If you know me well enough, you’ll know of my HATE for Snow Patrol – that hate to do with ‘Chasing Cars.’ I remember a few years back meeting Gary Lightbody in a pub with a mate of mine and asking him if ‘Chasing Cars’ was still in the charts… “probably if the money rolls in” was his reply.. hmmm well times have changed as they’ve went all electro on-yo-ass (following Bloc Party’s trend really they started it and the Editors new album has bettered it) with their new single ‘Just Say Yes.’ The single was originally intended for Pussycat Doll – Nicole Scherzinger’s debut album “Her Name Is Nicole” but seeing as that got the axe before it even had a chance to surface, Lightbody kept it for himself (wise!)

But here at “Spintrax” it’s not them we’re interested in for obvious reasons as it’d be called “Indietrax” or “Alternativeshizzle” if that was the case, it’s the GOD that is Stuart Price’s remix of the track. It was like an OMG DJ hardon moment when the remix dropped in my mailbox on Monday morning as usual! Price famously responsible for Madonna’s ‘Confessions’ and The Killers ‘Day & Age’ album really surpasses himself on every remix. To date we’ve loved his Seal, Starsailor, Lady GaGa and Fanny Annie remixes but this WOOFT!

‘Just Say Yes’ is released on November the 2nd and taken from their Greatest Hits album ‘Up To Now’ released on November the 9th through Fiction records!

Zoot Woman machen den unbestreitbar besten Electro-Pop der Welt. Das haben sie mit ‘Things Are What They Used To Be’ wieder mal bewiesen.Das Album kommt erst sechs Jahre nach dem letzten, was an der knapp bemessenen Zeit des Frontmanns Stuart Price lag, der in letzter Zeit zig-fach Tracks und Alben für (u.a.) Madonna, The Killers und die Scissor Sisters produziert hat. Daneben rotzt er auch noch Remixes im Hunderterpack raus. Ein vielbeschäftigter Mann eben, der erst 2009 wieder die Zeit fand, mit und für Zoot Woman aktiv zu werden.

‘Things Are What They Used To Be’ ist Ohrwurm-Pop der besten Sorte: aalglatt, simpel, kitschig und klebrig. Aber umwerfend funky und gut. Besonder gefallen mir “Memory”, “Just a Friend of Mine” und “Saturation“. Mit auf dem Album ist auch “We Won’t break”, welches schon seit knapp eineinhalb Jahren durch Clubs und Elektrophilen-iPods geistert.

Let’s face it here at BW we don’t quite hold an FBI style ratio for Australian music. In fact we have been pretty damn slack of late. So we present two Oz tunes to restore the balance. First up Diamond Cut gives us a Stuart Price-esque reworking of Pornstar, a cut from Sydney lad’s Amy Meredith debut. Classic big room stuff.

A lot of fans thought there won`t be another Zoot woman album, cos mastermind Stuart Price produced so many other artists the lasts years. He did produce Madonna, Seal, The Killers, Frankmusik and many more.

After 6 years the british band is back with their third album “Things Are What They Used To Be”. And they are back at their best. On the album you`ll find 12 superb electronic hits, most of them you can dance to.  The bonus version of the album has a Grand Son remix of “We Won`t Break” on top. The euphoric title track  emphasises the want to return to how things once were in another state of mind, time and place. Also listen to “Just A Friend Of Mine”, “More Than Ever”, “Saturation”,  “We Won`t Break” . all wonderful songs that lift your mood up. Unusual, but also a great song is the sad ballad “Blue Sea”. This album is a burner!

Não sabe quem é o cara? Além de guitarrista, tecladista e fofo, ele já fez muita coisa boa por aí, com destaque para o álbum “Confessions on A Dancefloor”, de Madonna. Além da sua própria banda, Les Rythmes Digitales, ele já produziu The Killers, New Order, Seal e já remixou hits de Lady GaGa e Justice.

No site do Scissor Sisters (aqui), os fãs podem acompanhar os ensaios, as gravações em estúdio e vídeos do making-of do CD novo que, apesar de estar certo para novembro, ainda não tem uma data oficial de lançamento confirmada.

Few days ago, FrankMusik the “new” UK electro-pop sensation has released his first LP. And as he never stops halfway, he completed it with an extra CD named ReComplete Me which consists of remixed versions of tracks of his LP Complete Me into a continuous set.

I know! It doesn’t feel clear the first time you read this, but it will be soon

So. His first album, Complete Me gives us 13 tracks,  which show us that men can do electro-pop too. And good a good one. I mean, I’ve nothing against Little Boots or La Roux (even though La Roux deceived me with her LP…) but it seams people only talk about them.

Many songs on this album aren’t new, 3 Little Words or Confusion Girl for exemple were released as early versions 2 years ago, and the same goes for Done Done and When You’re Around 1 year ago. But I have to admit that the album versions of this songs are much better than the original ones, we can perfectly hear the production work of Stuart Price on them. The same goes for the whole album, FrankMusik is a good composer when it comes to create hits, but Stuart Price has the thing to make anything become a “piece of art” (I know, that might be too much.

Both tracks are very close, but the original version had WAY too much basses, so the new version becomes clearer to listen too, ready to make it to the charts. Good work.

On the negative part, I’d have to admit FrankMusik’s style is quite uniform, he builds and sings on his tracks almost everytime the same way. But in a way he has his own producing style, so we can almost always recognize him when he remixes a track.

It took 1 or 2 weeks for him to put it together himself, and that’s very impressive because I guess he must have re-recorded some of his voice parts for some tracks (and new instruments too). The next single isn’t known to date, put I hope for many great remixes!

frankmusiks photo caught my eye in the blogosphere and i downloaded a remix of “better off as two“, which i listened to all the way through the first time i played it. my attention span rarely affords that. remix after remix i downloaded and then the youtube obsession began…

i’ve ordered his album “complete me”, which is released sometime this month, off the strength of frankmusik remixes that he’s done for other artists such as css, alphabeat, keane (and even troll lady gaga) and the demos and singles he’s released online. “complete me” is also being coproduced with stuart price (aka-Thin White Duke, 1/3 Zoot Woman, Paperfaces, & Les Rhythems Digitales, etc!!!) who is most famously known for his work with madonna(eye roll) on her “confessions on a dance floor” project. (yes i know that album is kinda genius-BUT i believe in prices genius) anyway, the boy’s a fox, a cross between jonathan rhys meyers and topher grace, with an british electro pop sensibility that’s equal parts cheesy and brilliant. did i mention he used to beat box by the name mr.mouth? GET INTO HIM!!!

I’ve kinda been over Lady Gaga since this incident, but whether we all like it or not she’s a pop forced to be reckoned with. Last week via her Facebook account status, Gaga expressed her displeasure with the leaked video for Paparazzi “Stop leaking my motherfucking videos,” but it’s out and we’ve got the video posted below. Check out Swoon over the cameo by True Blood’s Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) OMGaga!

Along with a new video, Lady Gaga is also Rolling Stone’s covergirl and got remix royalty treatment for Paparazzi by one of my favorite producers Stuart Price as well as The Filthy Dukes.
