At the moment, I currently have some big ideas in my head for a series of paintings but in order to achieve what I have in mind I need to practice, practice, practice, and do a heap of studies of the subjects I wish to use. Therefore, you’ll see a whole lot of lions and female nudes over the next few weeks, until I feel I am proficient enough to get this out in a format that I call “artwork”.

As you may be able to tell, these are digital paintings using my Wacom pen tablet and Photoshop. Ultimately, the end product will be traditionally painted on canvas, but initially practicing on the digital medium is a great way to study line, value and colour. I will then move onto studies on canvas to be competent in the medium, and then onto the real works themselves. Please feel free comment and crit as much as you want. Afterall, this blog isn’t for me to pass time with, it is a platform for me to get a sense of my strengths and weaknesses in order to improve my practice, whilst getting to know other artists!

Company: Nielsen
Introduction:

“It’s easy to get caught up in the hype around teenagers. The notion that teens are too busy texting and Twittering to be engaged with traditional media is exciting, but false. To develop the best strategy around teens and media, start by challenging popular assumptions about teens. Don’t focus on the outliers, but on the macrolevel trends of media and preferences for the segment. The averages will show you that teens can often be reached by the same means as their parents. In this report, “How Teens Use Media,” we debunk the myths and give you the hard facts.”

a few more hours left to com225 and baya’s tweet summarised our views.

“okay, why am i feeling lazy to study 225? oh because 207 is over”

and then I thought of a silly reply that I just have to document. (more descriptive as compared to the original reply)

In a simple narrative, a protagonist has to make small little decisions to reach his/her goal. These small little ‘beats’ of a scene has a major cause/effect event. Thus, this rule has to apply to us protagonists in our own right in com225. We have to make small small little decisions to overcome this major obstacle to finally reach our goal at 11am tmr. This important decision to press on studying will ensure that we fulfil the requirements of a simple narrative structure, and achieve closure and resolution, after a rather tiring journey through 225. We definitely have grown through the process through external conflicts and internal ones within us too. Some conflicts were solved during the journey, and some have yet to be achieved.

This combination of a simple narrative structure, together with the minimalist one sums up the complex life of a 225-er.

Onward Exams……

Maybe we shall treat ourselves by adding Chiaroscuro, Atmosphere, Notan and Silhouette. We can try to sing High Key or Low Key, or try it Hard or Soft. Finally, let’s compose ourselves by following the Rules of 3rds, Diagonals, Perspectives and Triangles. Don’t frame ourselves by Screen Space, Head/Nose/Lead Room and Symmetrical/Asymmetrical.

1 down. 5 to go. 8 more days to freedom.

Okay, 207 was bad, terribly bad somewhat, to an extent. Not that I couldn’t do the questions, but that I didn’t have enough time to arrange my ideas and structure my arguments coherently. 2 hours just flew by like that. Hopefully, the marker will understand what I am trying to write (crap) about. Praying that the points I wrote down are succinct enough to secure precious marks needed.

Thank you all for the little inputs about 207, hints, study questions discussed and stuff. It really helped somewhat. I would have expected him to test on palimpsest, on why schramm is not the founder, on who did applied studies and why, on who was affected by world war and nazism. All the questions I spotted didn’t come out. WHY? haha. because Dr. D decided that for this exam, he should come up with basic theoretical regurgitation. No funny discussion questions, no weird Nobel Price statements. Just plain concepts. This format should be easier, but sadly, we prepared wrongly.

Nvm, next’s up. COM225 and HG803, both tmr. and oh yea, before I forget, this is a compilation of studies/theories covered in 207. And this my friends, is just like one-eighths of concepts and knowledge learnt. Enjoy.

I’ve been working on a huge paper that I turned in and presented on this past Monday. I plan to present this paper at a regional conference for my field in the spring so I have to edit it and such. Good news is I’m done with all my coursework for my Masters degree; all I have remaining now are thesis hours which I should finish in the spring, YAYSIES!

So I’ll be back to blawging soon. I want to thank everyone who responded to the last post, y’all are just so trill. For realsies, y’all melted my unicorn heart with your tipz and advice. In the meantime and to prove that I have surrounded myself with the finest and choicest selection of ain’t-shit people, my friend/classmate sent me this article for no reason where the writer shared some thoughts on autumn. Here are some excerpts; I bolded the parts that particularly made me wheeze:

IT’S DECORATIVE
GOURD SEASON, MOTHERFUCKERS.

BY COLIN NISSAN

I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to get my hands on some fucking gourds and arrange them in a horn-shaped basket on my dining room table. That shit is going to look so seasonal. I’m about to head up to the attic right now to find that wicker fucker, dust it off, and jam it with an insanely ornate assortment of shellacked vegetables. When my guests come over it’s gonna be like, BLAMMO! Check out my shellacked decorative vegetables, assholes. Guess what season it is—fucking fall.

I may even throw some multi-colored leaves into the mix, all haphazard like a crisp October breeze just blew through and fucked that shit up. Then I’m going to get to work on making a beautiful fucking gourd necklace for myself. People are going to be like, “Aren’t those gourds straining your neck?” And I’m just going to thread another gourd onto my necklace without breaking their gaze and quietly reply, “It’s fall, fuckfaces. You’re either ready to reap this freaky-assed harvest or you’re not.”

Haha.
We started our search for the Good Brands of 2009 by looking at the companies we were writing about on PSFK.com over the course of this year. Then we asked a panel of cross-industry global experts from the Purple List to tell us which of 40 common brands on PSFK were considered ‘Good’.”

Saturday: So psyched! Football was back on! That is, team, not international, football was back on!

Saturday:
So psyched! Football was back on! That is, team, not international, football was back on! Arsenal were back on, facing Sunderland away. Come on!
No.
Arsenal lost 1-0 and that was that day.
Had been pumped up since morning. Had put on my Arsenal away-shirt. Had done it all…
Before the football we, Camilla and I, had managed to go grocery shopping. Never a good lead up to something bad.

Sunday:
Mew, live in concert. Fantastic show. Four things about the night, apart from the whole fantastic music experience, stand out though:

Before the show we, Camilla, AK37 (a much lesser and therefore better weapon) and I went out to dinner. The dinner was good and when we got the check we noticed that they had forgotten to charge us for two beers, a glass of water (yes, you read it correctly, a glass of water! For which they charge!) and a glass of wine. Since alcohol is pretty expensive in Sweden the amount of those three items would have been about 35% of the whole bill. And, since the service was utter crap we decided to pay up, not mentioning the forgotten and walk away! Ha!

Mew has an absolutely fantastic drummer!

The PA-system used at the venue must have been made in order to suffice in a venue three times the first venue’s, our venue’s, size. Super loud! And no, it’s not just me getting old!

After the show AK37 found 200 SEK (50$/20€) on the ground outside the venue. Kind as she is we shared her findings.

All in all a pretty nice day which apart from the concert also included some studying.

Monday:
More studying but I also managed a trip to Freeport (an outlet of all sorts, of sort) where I got my self a new, way too high, or thick, pillow.

Tuesday/Today:
Been to school and now I’m studying. Taking a break to give you tha shizzle.

On a music note (ha!), I have been mailing back and forth with a video director/old friend about maybe doing something together. Comes down to money, as it always does. As far as recording the new album is concerned, I’m still waiting verdict on the whens and wheres of bass-recording.

Hola!

Allt i psykologi alltså, ämnet jag måste ace:a! Åh, och den 12e är vår luciakonsert. Så att starta en ny blogg är liksom lite ett sätt för mig att skjuta upp plugget.

x
