So, a couple months ago I started to create these Mary Jane’s that came to me in a vision! I have an obsession with wearing black and white, and just had to make a pair of these cabaret shoes with black English Punk studs. Now, if you’re going to stud anything, I have to say: Do not just jump into it, make sure to practice with a variety of tools, unless you know what you’re doing already. I was going to do a photo shoot with these lovely shoes over winter, but I postponed it. Studs have been punched into leather in the punk & goth scene since they began, and it’s just a coincidence that part of my wardrobe became trendy last year too. I have to say, that Alexander McQueen F/W 09′ looked a lot like most of my closet, with those tailcoats. If only it was affordable, or if I were a bit more in tune with money, I’d devour his collections. For these shoes, I was partly inspired by my white frocks with black details, and also, the Christian Louboutin’s for Rodarte. P.S. They’re actual cabaret/burlesque shoes, so they’re extremely comfy, and the heel is 5 3/4″ high.

This Korea-based eBay shop is packed to the brim with on-trend clothing, shoes, and jewelry.  I am honestly overwhelmed with how much stuff I want to buy from this shop. Most items are $10-$75. The best part is that many items have special little details that go the extra mile, perhaps making them a winner over what you might find for the same price at your local mall (some similar items definitely cost more at the Zara I regularly browse). Who needs to go look in the mall when this eBay store is offering cool(er) stuff at better prices? Check it out:

I’ve seen that a couple of blogs have done this so I thought I would post what I think the big trends will be for 2010

My first three are make up looks which I think will really brighten up this dreary country

The winter beauty look is perfect for during the day- nude foundation, pale eyeshadows and peachy lipstick are used to achieve this look.

Pastel shades will work well on nights out and to gain attention- look for pinks, mint greens, lilacs and blues.

Coral is going to overtake last years pillar box red as the most popular lip shade- for a natural look apply wih subtle makeup or dress up with pastels or smoky eyes.

Next up, my favourite subject- Fashion!

Studded accesories will add an edgy feel to your look for day and night

The prints trend will once again be shook up as Clashing prints will become popular, checks and dots, floral and stripes the mismatched the better!

Victorian style lace- up’s will be teamed with skirts, pinafore dresses and shorts for a more vintage feel

Owl necklaces will be the new birdcage necklace (which willl still be popular)

And finally as my music prediction last year of  Little Boots turned of to be correct…

Ellie Goulding is a fantastic young singer/ songwriter. I saw her last year supporting Little Boots and she was fantastic, so download her!

I don’t remember exactly how I discovered jewellery designer Eddie Borgo but I’m so glad I did.

His designs are a lesson in paradox and he combines post-punk with geometry and precious metals with petrified wood for a “potent mix of high end and street.”

With the new year quickly approaching, I thought it would be only right to start the year with a blog that everyone needs to read. I know I haven’t blogged about the Selfridges sale I went for on Boxing Day, but I think it’s taken THAT long for me to recover from it.

The pain of queuing, the pain of being in the midst of so many determined women (scary shit), the pain of surviving on three pathetic hours of sleep,and the pain of shopping with a gut that had just been through a bout of Christmas lactose intolerance. And most importantly – the pain of the rapid depletion of my bank account balance.

So I got the MBM bag. The smell of fresh leather is amazing. I keep going to my closet, taking it out of the dust bag and
SNIFFING.

Delish.

I also got slingback heels from TopShop at a third of the price. Time to challenge my ugly bunions again.

Dear Delightful Hockey Boys,

What a fun pair of Sunday evening games that I didn’t get to watch at all – I was at work, of course.  But that’s okay, you make work fun to the tune of multiple Snoopy dances (why hello there, security camera, forgot about you).  Unfortunately, my euphoria balloon was popped by an OH MOTHEREFFING EFF moment involving a broken key, and my easy, early-out night ended up being a late one of backtracking my papertrail, rootling around in our giant recycling bin, trying to unlock a drawer on the strength of willpower and a stern look, and freaking out about how much my boss would freak out this morning.  So that’s why I didn’t unload my happy happy joy joy thoughts last night.

I can’t believe that on one night THREE of my teams’ guys put up three points.  It’s so fun that I don’t even mind that one of them was P. Kane, of whom I am not terribly fond.  Lunchpail-y John Madden, whom I do like, got two goals, and feisty TK and lovely Butts both got 2 assists.  Finally, Jochen Hecht gives us a goal worthy of several replays as he tries to rebound before he realizes he actually scored.

Lalime had another solid game with a few nice saves – is Buffalo finally ready to put an end to the “Bring Back Marty” talk?  I love Marty (though honestly, is there anyone that doesn’t love Marty Biron?), but if he was going to come back, the organization would have made it happen over the summer.  Now Lalime is making me feel more and more confident with every game, and the boys have been playing better in front of him too.  I hope Lindy feels the same way.  I think we’re getting to the point where we can stop worrying about the backup and concentrate on Enroth’s development in Portland.

First you took over what Pominville started Saturday and put a little more air back in the Sabres powerplay tires.  A bit later, as I was spiraling into a full-blown freakout over OH MY GOD TYLER PLEASE GET BACK UP ARE YOU BROKEN – oh, hello, Timmyho puts one in shorthanded.  Commence my hopping up and down for several moments (um, hey there again, Loss Prevention Specialist) and trying to call a coworker/fellow fan out on the sales floor, because I was so excited I had to tell someone.  (As it turned out, his usual phone was broken, which was probably for the best as he is extremely mild-mannered and I’d have probably alarmed him.)  Oh Timmy, you made me so happy.  When I got home I watched the replay about twenty times.  Props to Myers too for making the play while falling over/sprawled out on the ice (PLEASE TELL ME YOU’RE OKAY) and to Mike for that nice pass.

And by the way – maybe I’m only saying this because I was not actually visually subjected to it – but you go ahead and take off your shirt whenever you want.  You’ve earned it.  (Go another month between goals, though, and your shirtless privileges are revoked.)

Argentium Sterling Silver Cuff Link and Stud Set with Black Pearls and Moissanites by Joana Miranda

This holiday season saw a flurry of activity in my shop.  Somewhere in there, I found the time to create this cuff link and stud set for my husband.  The tarnish-resistant Argentium Sterling Silver has been given a brushed finish; bezel-set Moissanites in the studs contrast dramatically with the black pearls in the cuff links.  I’m looking forward to expanding this line into post and drop earrings!
