I normally find a list of New Years Resolutions I’ve made for the year in my journal. I never

I normally find a list of New Years Resolutions I’ve made for the year in my journal. I never manage to write them on a card or poster or anywhere I would actually see them, so I tend to forget about them less than a month after setting them, but for some reason I like to go back and see if I’ve managed to accomplish any of them purely out of chance. I’ll usually pick a random number of my goals I need to accomplish in order to deem the year “successful.” I barely made it in 2008.

Unfortunately, however, there is no such entry for 2009. At the beginning of this year, I was really into new-agey type motivational seminars. It’s embarrassing to admit that, but we all have those periods in our life that we had to go through, but don’t really like talking about. Anyway, one of the seminars I went to was called Life Vision. You were supposed to write down everything you wanted to accomplish in the next year in five areas of your life. And you were supposed to think BIG. You would then record yourself reading this document (known as your Life Vision) and listen to it every single day. In theory (that is, according to the seminar instructor), everything you said about yourself in this document would happen.

So, the closest thing I have to a list of resolutions is this document. And boy is it detailed. And I thought big, let me tell ya. I pretty much describe my ideal while trying to keep some shred of realism. The five areas are Spiritual, Physical, Relationships (Family & Social), Professional/Financial, and Emotional/Personal Development. That document is 8 pages. Ha! So I’m not posting it here. If you are really interested in reading it, let me know and I’ll send it to you. But for those who are not interested in reading 8 pages of me talking to myself, here are the highlights:

I go to church all three hours every week (aww…)

I weigh 150 lbs by July 1st and continue to lose weight (ahahaha…ha…)

I prepare meals with care and enjoy the preparation (I did that once, I think)

I bring my lunch to work (But what would I do with it when I went out to eat?)

All jokes I make are of a positive nature and leave people feeling happy and respected (I don’t know what kinds of jokes I planned on making, really)

My flirting leads to dates (My what?)

I love going to work (HAHAHA)

I go the extra mile for Garrett because I respect him. I know that my accomplishments will be rewarded with financial raises and bonuses (well that’s just sad, really)

By the end of 2009 I have visited and photographed 10 places unique to Utah, including the Spiral Jetty and Goblin Valley (now, while I didn’t return to Goblin Valley, I did in fact go to the Spiral Jetty, so we’re counting this one FTW)

On December 31st 2009 I can comfortably charge $200.00 for a print of a photograph I have taken (Good gravy, I was thinking big…anyone wanna buy a picture?)

By the end of 2010, my art is displayed in an art gallery (this line made me sad)

On December 31st 2009 I have at least one blog entry with 100 comments (O_O…start commenting people! You’ve got two hours! Except I just realized the time on my website is set to Central, so you have ONE hour!)

I am completely free of my Citi, Wells Fargo, and Best Buy credit card debts by January 1st 2010 (not only is this fail, but I now have an Old Navy card… )

I am in the field digging in the dirt on an official archaeological excavation at least once in the year 2009 (I could have done this one, but just didn’t. Here’s an example of something I probably would have accomplished if I had remembered it was an actual goal)

I am in California the first week of July for Anime Expo 2009. I am in a nice hotel the entirety of my stay (another accomplishment! woohoo!)

I have started learning Spanish (what?? I don’t even remember setting this goal!)

I have successfully located a piano where I can practice without intruding on anybody (aw, man, I wish I had figured this one out)

Yeah, and that’s just the highlights! Moral of the story: STOP TRYING TO OVERACHIEVE. IT ONLY MAKES YOU FEEL FAIL LATER. I gotta think a bit on my goals for 2010. I might post them here, I might not. I’ll write them in my journal, though, so I know where to find them next December 31st.

It’s that most wonderful time of the year again. It’s honestly amazing how quickly Christmas arrived; usually I feel like time just drags and drags.

So in honor of this glorious season, the want-y side of me wants to make a “dream list” of gifts that I would love to get but, let’s face it, probably won’t because unfortunately the money tree in my parents’ back yard just never took root…

{Just last week I criticized how highly commercialized and gift-focused the holidays have become so I realize this post may seem hypocritical. But just because I think too much focus is placed on presents rather than family doesn’t mean I don’t have dream gifts!}

1. A beautiful red KitchenAid mixer so I can bake delicious goodies year-round

2. Unlimited amounts of cash to grocery shop my heart out and afford yummy Amy’s more often

3. A fresh batch of French macarons from Laduree

4. Unlimited money to shop my heart out at J. Crew

5. A sparkly new road bike

I understand the good of Christmas.. you know, the whole love your family thing UNITY yadda yadda Jesus Christ, but I’ve been doing that year round so this holiday can suckit.

Since letting go of the party bullshit I’ve gone headfirst into only positivity and this holiday puts me into a funk. There’s all this pressure to be extra nice to people. Like, HELLO, you should ALWAYS be nice the fuck is it being cold gonna help?

But because I am always just awesome and I’m broke as hell I figure I use this blog to divulge all the materialistic shit I want this year.

Da na naa naaa:

I had an iTouch.. got stolen by some gay kid (literally, he’s homosexual) and my iPod Classic just kicked the bucket about a month ago.. this would be PERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRFECT. But it would have to be at least 32 Gigs.. my Classic was 40.. 8 or 16 jus won’t do it for me.

Diamond Company Varsity Jacket – I’ve retired my NorthFace and my peacoat just doesn’t do it sometimes.

Blackberry Bold 9700 – my curve is a trooper.. but I think it’s time I upgrade

those are honestly the only three big things I want for Christmas.. all out of my price range and I won’t get any. I specifically told people to NOT buy me anything and I know someone;s gonna break that rule and piss me off lol

If I do ever receive one of these three things I’ll be sure to gloat. Doubt it though.

You too can say that. Look a this beauty or should I say booty? A deep red clutch (or is it wine red?), just the accessory for a white or black or green dress this Christmas. Everyone’s going to look and they are all going to want to know where you got this goodie from. Isn’t it out of this world? If you too want to be seen with accessories like this one, you need to be at Candies in Bandra (the one next to Learner’s academy) on 12th Dec. between 11am to 8pm

What’s more the bags are on sale ! Don’t need a bag? You can try on some costume jewelery by Spyra or dresses by YTAMIN Injection by Suvidha (Whoa! That sounds like high drama I tell you)

P.S. Btw the clutch in the pic is a Big red bow bag that Pooja Pariani, Owner Pepper created for Iam too sexy for my shoes on NDTV GOODTIMES

The girl’s gotta website too. It’s www.pepperbypooja.com !

It’s less than three weeks until Xmas is upon us and I have been seeing lots of gift ideas on the interwebs. I am going to share them with you because I am not getting any of these things for any of my friends for various reasons, but they would be excellent gifts for people out there.

Kevin Smith is a funny guy, regardless of whether or not you like his movies. He wrote some books:

Shootin’ the Sh*t With Kevin Smith: The Best of the SModcast

My Boring-Ass Life: The Uncomfortably Candid Diary of Kevin Smith (this one is in paperback now)

If you didn’t see Spike Jonze’s sweet-ass Where the Wild Things Are, you totally missed out. But I’m sure someone you know saw it and loved it, and maybe even cried at it. This book would be lovely for them.

Heads On and We Shoot: The Making of Where the Wild Things Are

I heart John Hodgeman. I probably hearted him before I even realized it. He’s funny and smart and plays songs like, “Tonight You Belong To Me,” on the ukulele. I haven’t read his books but would like to, as I think they would cause me to sit giggling in my pyjamas under a cozy blanket. I bet you know someone who could use a giggle in pyjamas under a cozy blanket too.

More Information Than You Require

The Areas of My Expertise

All three seasons of The Mighty Boosh, all together on seven discs, loaded with bonus features. Um, yes.

The Mighty Boosh Special Edition DVD

Another complete series, this time from the genius that is/was The State. I plan on picking this one up for myself, as I am one of the screaming, delirious masses that have been begging for this DVD for the last 15-ish years. Yeah, I was begging for this DVD before DVDs were even DVDs.

The State: The Complete Series

Brandon Bird is one talented mofo. You couldn’t go wrong with anything from his store. There is one thing in there that is too awesome for words, though.

Nicholas Cage Adventure Set

Even if you didn’t see Up, you love Dug. No one can NOT love Dug.

11-inch Talking Plush Dug

Some classic games, and you can get them in some super-fun versions.

Tauntaun sleeping bag

This pretty much speaks for itself.

For your office-worker buddy who thinks they’re a badass.

I am totally one of those people who can’t keep a plant alive. I don’t know about the plant-killers in your life, but I think these would make me feel better about my lack of a green thumb.

So I’m in my psychology class doing what I usually do. BS and take notes. My teacher’s babbling about buying a ShamWow and I just finished reading the Eminem article at Complex.Com and realize a girl sitting in front of me has on these puppies.

She had to have huge feet because they looked enormous on her. I saw these on 23isBack a while ago and wanted them but I’ve got shitloads of bills from prior retardation so I can’t get these unless I can scam a boyfriend into buying me something. Whatever. So I like em, just not on her. Seeing them made me want them more. I tap my friend on her shoulder (she goes to school upstate here with me but she’s from my hometown) and say “Those are new i think,” pointing at the obviously new Jays that already have dirt on em #comeonson and she says in the most monotone voice “I’m not into that stuff anymore” – - - who asked? I was just sayin’.

Anyway I’ve noticed that female fashion has changed a bit over the past two years. I remember when it was cool to wear the newest Jordans (NOT EVEN NICE ONES SOMETIMES EITHER, JUST CUS) with that leather tag belt and plain t that coordinated with the colors on the sneaker. I remember when the Retro Blue and White 11s dropped they had slight yellow on em and girls would take that tiny little jumpman as an excuse for a yellow t-shirt. Naaa, ma. So yeah we’ve all gone from urban as shit dressing like the boys to Forever21 H&M loving wanabee Hills things. I’m guilty of it.

But I still wear my jordans.

Obviously not with the same plain bougie ass t shirt or Guess black tee or any of that shit anymore but, in todays case, my Navy & White Six Rings with a flannel and v neck – charcoal jeans. i looked fly. what can i say.

What most annoys me is most of the people bashing the whole Jordans trend where the same hoodrats who sucked any nigga off if he had on the newest pair of Jays. Now I’m not taking shots at my friend but she got me thinking about a lot of other females who traded her Jordans in for UGGS.

UGGS – $195 +

Jordans (in my size ) – $85-$100

Now I wear my Jordans every now and then. I was blessed with a great paying job my senior year of HS and bought myself a few pairs. I always liked Jordans, certain pairs. I remember girls had EVERY SINGLE PAIR for name brand sake and I thought it was retarded because these shoes are NOT cheap. I never wanted to ask my parents for a buncha pairs of $100 sneakers, so I waited till I had a job that paid me well enough and I indulged. I think I bought close to 7 or 8 pairs. All $85. My job paid REALLY well. Thank you, Metro One lol.

Anyway, senior YR of HS was two years ago and most of my Jays are still in decent shape. You won’t catch me wearing anything all fucked up, I’m super anal about that. With the fashion changing I still put my Jays in rotation but of course I wear mocassins (boat shoe lookin; things), ankle boots, them Sparta influenced looking sandals (lol) and I try to steer clear of flats cus I got fat feet but yeah those too. Heels? I haven’t gotten there yet. Soon soon but that doesn’t take away from any of my looks.

I’m not trying to hype myself up as any fashionista. It just amazes me how quick people are to turn on something that they held up like Jesus a few years ago. EW NAH GIRL NO JORDANS – So what sneakers do you wear bitch? You don’t wear sneakers? The fuck?

I’m just glad we got past the neon EVERYTHING colored SB Dunks. Only certain people can rock those.

:: End Rant ::

ps. My favorite pair of Jays are my red black and white 6s and Bunnies (Aqua 8s)

=] & yeah I still want those Rising Suns.

I’m thinking about making a wishlist. Not a Christmas list, and not an actually-get-me-this list, but more of a if-I-had-$-to-waste-I’d-get-these list.

I cleaned for about five hours straight yesterday and went through so many things from my entire childhood. It’s so bizarre finding things that unearth old, forgotten memories. Also, it’s nice to be reminded how badass I am.

I feel blue ! (remember that famous song?) I think feeling blue may not always be a bad thing especially if you love the color blue. I don’t know about you but i have always loved it. Blue and yellow were my favorite colors as a kid and blue rightly so. I guess I needed that blue to cool me down. I think I was a hot headed kid most of the time. On the topic of blue – Mother earth has cool blue things to dress your environs up. Wanna take a look?
Been to Pondicherry? (Pawn – the – sherrreee! as the French say it!) Then you need no introduction to colonial architecture, quaint streets and beautiful people. The peace, the restful ambiance, the calm that prevails all across the town is enough to stop the traffic of thoughts in your head. But what’s quite interesting is the shopping experience here! Yes the shopaholic that Iam, I had to discover my own stores and buy things for myself and others and know what’s good where et al. So here is my list! Now on something called the Suffren street is Cre’art (I have blogged about this one before and it turned out to better than I expected. Awesome stuff!) Nirvana and Fab India. Cre’art has three separate rooms and you can walk from one to another as you browse through everything from bags to belts, dresses to diaries, kiddie clothes to kool stationery, stoles and silk outfits. There is a lot kitschy stuff, boho outfits, tie-up kurtas, puff sleeved tops, knee-length kurtas that can double up as dresses and all this comes at an awesome price! The place also has a cafe and wi-fi so you can sit there and sip coffee and watch the brightly light and beautifully designed store. Nirvana next door is like the king of kitsch – bollywood and tollywood is all you find on everything from cushion covers to pouches, beads, tops, tees. I wasn’t quite pleased with the things here – well nothing very unique but worth a look nevertheless. The two treasures of Pondi shopping after Cre’art are 1- Casabalanca and Kalki – lucky for you they are both opposite to each other on one of the main shopping streets of Pondi. The former is a Hidesign boutique and has clothes, jewelery, bags, accessories for men and women. Lots of choice for women – I did manage to pick up a skirt and some nice chic jewelery to go with my outfits and even a couple of hair accessories. Kalki is more exotic in-terms of the stuff available. Here you find accessories that you will perhaps team up with a flowy gown you wear on a beach or a resort vacation – lots of paper, thread and cloth accessories – beautiful silk jackets, some bright chappals and lovely handbags to go with your attire! I came back with my handful and pockets empty and I cant wait to back there again! (I think I may have discovered my new shopping paradise! Yay!

It’s just pretty. I would put it in the foyer.

Vintage Victorian Hand Jewelry Holder

While I have pretty trays and boxes and such already stashing a lot of my jewelry, I only have one 3-D storage option, and that’s for necklaces.

This would be a fabulous 3-D way to store and display rings, as I have quite a few pretty ones, but I can really only stand to wear one on a daily basis.

Glass Drops Flower Vase on Wood Stand

I like wee bud vases — I think they take up less room and also, you can get some fresh flowers or bits of greenery into more places in your house (say, a tiny powder room or a bookshelf) and spend less money — and this, while not precisely wee, is small and clever and pretty. I would use this in the bathroom.

Fuchsia Faux Suede Bardot Platform Pumps

This is genius. SO. DAMNED. CUTE. You can get different plants — cactus, phlox, lavender, petunia, basil, mint, chrysthanemum and strawberry. You get it, crack it open, water and it grows. And it’s $10.50.

Perfect for kids and also a super-cute holiday gift for co-workers and friends.

Domestic & Olivier Peyricot and Sylvie Chanchus’ Star Mirrors

These are so pretty. After I paint the walls in the stairwell leading up to the seond story (and someday, I will, I swear — don’t ask me what color) these would look wonderful there.

The following items are from Perch which has great simple design.

A Container for One Thing

I would get 2 or 3 of these (they are $26) and hang them over my desk. I don’t know why I would display in them, but the possibilities are endless.
