Tom Savini

 

Thomas Vincent Savini (born November 3, 1946 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.) is an American actor, stunt man, director, award-winning special effects and makeup artist. He is known for his work on the Living Dead films directed by George A. Romero, as well as Creepshow, The Burning, The Prowler, and Maniac. He directed the 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead. Though officially retired from special effects, he has continued to direct, produce and star in several movies. Savini has been known to refer movie make-up effects projects to graduates of his school. He is frequently cast in B-movies, appearing in films such as From Dusk Till Dawn and Grindhouse.

Turned down Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) to work on The Burning (1981).

Was supposed to play the part of the second biker in Oliver Stone’s U Turn (1997), after Stone saw him in From Dusk Till Dawn (1996). But due to scheduling conflict, Stone cast his producer Richard Rutowski in that part instead.

His role in Sea of Dust (2008) (Prester John) was written by Scott Bunt with Savini in mind.

Was originally supposed to be a special effects make-up artist on Night of the Living Dead (1968), but was drafted to Vietnam just before filming began.

David Blaine…You would have definitely heard  about him and if you have not then am here to tell you-  David Blaine is an American illusionist and  endurance artist by Profession. He is best  known for his high- profile feats of endurance, and  has  made his name  as a performer of street and  close-up magic. He is  the one who is set and  broken  many world records.  He is also known as  “Modern  day Houdini”.

Magic got into David.  He was your regular street magician who got gigs at rich parties.  Because of  his talent and uncanny character, he was able to draw up connections to ABC.  After seeing a tape of his magic, they requested an interview and began planning a special. David Blaine: Street Magic, his first special, was the beginning of a new era. The special was not about disappearing tigers and thick  stage lights; it was the streets, real people, and David.  This had never been done before.  The show was an instant success.  People still talk about David Blaine’s levitation.  At only 24 years old, David Blaine became famous.  A few years later he released David Blaine: Magic Man, which showed him performing around the world.  His other two specials, David Blaine: Vertigo and David Blaine: Frozen in Time, only contained a few segments of his street magic.  The specials revolved around the stunts.

David Blaine became a stunt man after his idol, Houdini.  His first stunt, getting buried alive for seven days, had the approval of Houdini’s granddaughter.  He did the stunt to promote his second special, David Blaine: Magic Man.  According to a letter Magic Directory received, David Blaine: Magic Man was named after an old website.  Since then, David has been frozen alive, trapped standing on a poll over a hundred feet from the ground, and viewed hanging from a crane over the River Thames bridge in London.  He likes to get trapped in secluded areas with no food. He also hold world record of holding breath for 17 minutes and 4.4 seconds (previous record was of just 32 seconds shorter). Each stunt seems to be more dangerous.  David Blaine will probably continue performing magic and stunts to his ‘audience’ for the rest of his life.

longtime stunt man who appeared in several German television shows was killed while filming an Iranian TV series in a Tehran suburb.
The report on TV late Wednesday says Peyman Abadi was killed when a flaming bus he was jumping out of overturned.
The 37-year-old had appeared in German action TV shows that were popular in Iran.
He returned to Iran in 2005 and established a professional stunt academy in Tehran.

Who’s STUNT DOUBLE would you want to be and why???

Stunt Double. Stunt men and women defeat the odds while they leaping off buildings, cruising through fires and conquering car crashes. The thrill and the danger create a high.

The pros: They get the reputation of surviving some of the most death-defying acts humanly possible.
The cons: Stunts don’t always get the recognition they deserve in the public eye.

15:55: Under de senaste veckorna har det mesta gått i racerfart här igen, så nu gäller det faktiskt att planera lite så inget krockar framöver.

Så till oktober månad som bokstaveligen kommer att bli en actionfylld månad, jag skall nämligen gå en grundläggande stuntman-kurs under alla helger i oktober, där vi bl a kommer lära oss om fallteknik, filmslagsmål (fight teknik/kamervinkling), drama, vapen, special FX (explosioner, squibs..skotthål, glas etc.), rapelling och säkerhet. Vi kommer även få chansen att medverka i slagfältscener i kommande filmer.. yeah, why not!

Återkommer såklart med bilder etc efter varje helg om jag får lov att fota lite där… Efter kursen får vi även en häftig action-CD på våra prestationer som såklart inte skall ligga och damma på hyllan, men visas här i bloggen.. Möjligheten för att specialisera sig på vissa stunt finns ju också, får vänta och se vad jag duger till.. kommer iallafall bli riktigt kul och spännande!. So stay tuned peop’s!

På fredag skall jag till Stockholm och agera som statist i en TV-serie. Jag har gjort liknande förut och hade det mycket trevlig bland de andra som var med. Och så får man ju också några extra kronor i fickan på köpet.. så helt klart något jag vill fortsätta med!

För några dagar sedan ringde också en tjej från en tidning som tillsammans med en fotograf skall komma hem till mig på torsdag och intervjua mig i samband med mitt lilla företag.. riktigt skönt att de är intresserad av oss som är egenföretagare och som arbetar hemifrån, inte alltid så lätt som många verkar tro det är .. vill ju såklart återkomma med mer om detta senare. Skall också ge blod denna dagen, så jag får nog ta det lite lugnt i svängarna…

När det gäller styrketräningen så har jag med flit haft nestan 3 veckor helt ledig från allt efter tävlingen i Karlstad, återhämtning heter det ja.. men kände såklart att det efterhand började klia i både kropp och vilja.. så i går bar det iväg till gymmet igen för ett lagom benpass, och även promenaderna har så småningom börjat bli sköna och mer verkningsfulla igen.

Hur det kommer bli med tävling på Fitnessfestivalen vet jag inte än, just nu känner jag bara att jag är trött på allt det här med bästaste träningsrutinen, protein/kolhydrats-analyser, och dietnojor.. ibland känner man att det pratas/skrivs om det samma om och om igen överallt ..bläh…..ha..ha..  dags för lite paus från just det. Känner för liiite mer action och använda kroppen på et litet annorlunda sätt nu! Och det får jag ju snart

Dock har jag redan beställd tygprover från Glitzit till ny dräkt, så jag får helt enkelt se hur kropp och form känns i november. Blir det inte Fitnessfestivalen i år så blir det ju att bygga lite och tidigast tävla till nesta års FF ..I guess ..

Vill gärna ha en dietfri sommar för en gångs skull… att bara köra Beach 2009 kommer ju bli rena rama lyxen ju ..hi..hi, och så behöver jag nog lägga på mig lite mer muskelmassa här och där samt bara få njuta av själva träningen och vettig mat en stund.

Skall såklart forsöka uppdatera bloggen lite oftare igen… men i perioder har man ju mycket annat som också skall och vill göras eller hur? Har självklart hunnit baka lite också de senaste veckorna, så flera goa recept är på G!  SeeYouSoon!

The Film – On August 7th 1974, a young Frenchman named Philippe Petit stepped out on a wire illegally rigged between New York’s twin towers, then the world’s tallest buildings. After nearly an hour dancing on the wire, he was arrested, taken for psychological evaluation, and brought to jail before he was finally released. James Marsh’s documentary brings Petit’s extraordinary adventure to life through the testimony of Philippe himself, and some of the co-conspirators who helped him create the unique and magnificent spectacle that became known as “the artistic crime of the century.”

The Verdict – As far as documentaries go, Man On Wire takes a proverbial leap of faith, with its eyes closed, into the world of unfathomable dare devil stories, that’ll have you sitting on the edge of your seat, and all in its stride. This gravity and death defying inspirational tale of French tight rope walker, Philippe Petit could be considered as one of highly strung fiction or that of an aging urban legend. But make no mistake, there is no camera trickery or SFX to be found here. Only a sheer 1368 foot drop and a hair of wire separated Philippe and the harsh New York City sidewalk.

Although Philippe was cut short of completing his decent, he was rewarded with much public admiration for his spectacular show of courage. With his fearless features plastered all over the media, many questioned why any one would be so foolish as to try such a stunt like this and as a result Philippe’s mental health was to questioned. Though in the end Philippe would finish stronger then he had set out, in proving, rather triumphantly, that it wasn’t a matter of how he couldn’t get the job done but a matter of how he was the only man brave enough to try. A gripping tale of a man who was seemingly born without wings. Check it out!

JAKARTA, MINGGU – Mimpi manusia untuk terbang bebas seperti burung dengan mengepakkan dua sayapnya mungkin belum terwujud. Namun, terbang dengan sayap menempel di punggung, setidaknya, sudah dapat dilakukan.

Yves Rossy, mantan pilot militer Swiss, terbang menggunakan sayap bermesin jet buatannya di atas Pegunungan Alpen.

Untuk pertama kalinya, Yves Rossy, seorang mantan pilot pesawat terbang dari Swiss, mendemonstrasikan terbang dengan sayap segitiga bermesin jet buatannya. Pria berusia 48 tahun yang mendapat sebuta “Fusion Man” itu melompat dari pesawat dengan sayap segitiga selebar 2,5 meter di punggungnya dan terbang melayang di atas Pegunungan Alpen.

Begitu jatuh bebas dari pesawat yang membawanya, ia langsung mengaktifkan empat mesin jet yang ada di bagian belakang sayapnya. Dalam sejak sejak diaktifkan, dorongan jet membuatnya dapat terbang hingga kecepatan 300 kilometer perjam.

Rossy sempat melakukan manuver, meliuk-liuk, terbang menukik, hingga melakukan putaran 360 derajat pada ketinggian 2300 meter. Setelah lima menit menjajal sayap buatanya di udara, ia mematikan mesinnya dan turun dengan parasit.

“Saya belum mencoba semuanya,” ujarnya usai turun di sebuah landasan pesawat dekat Danau Jenewa, Rabu (14/5) lalu. Sayapnya baru akan dieksplorasi semua kemampuannya oleh seorang stunt man dan disiarkan langsung dalam sebuah acara televisi.

Namun, Rossy juga telah merencanakan untuk mencoba kembali alat buatannya untuk melintasi Selat Inggris tahun ini. Bahkan ia berharap suatu saat dapat terbang di atas Grand Canyon dengan sayap lebih lebar dan mesin jet lebih besar.

Untuk membuat alat tersebut, Rossy menghabiskan dana 285.000 dollar AS yang disponsori perusahaan jam tangan Swiss Hublot. Sementara untuk baju yang dipakainya tidak perlu didesain khsusu karena seperti baju tahan api yang biasa dipakai petugas pemadam kebakaran.

Sampai saat ini, Rossy belum berencana menjual alat buatannya ke pasaran, namun ia yakin alat serupa akan banyak dikembangkan untuk memberikan pengalaman terbang lebih menyenangkan terutama bari pecinta olahraga parasit.(kompas.com)

Just got in from gym and had a good session.

I got talking to henry today about his acrobatics work he gets occasionally. Particularly at this time of year, as there’s a fair bit of panto and xmas season shows going on. He told me about the stunt work that’s available and how he got into it. Simply by sending a video clip on a mobile phone to an agent, who then advised what he needed to learn to become suitable. Henry then dedicated his time to learning those basic moves and got accepted. Since then he’s done a fair bit of work as an acrobat. Earning what I can only describe as a decent wedge of the Queens finest sheets (£400 a week maybe) for simple stuff like sumasaults, round off back tucks and trampet displays. Nothing tricky, tho obviously the more you can do the more you can earn and the more work you’ll be offered. Also it helps if you look good obviously

Ten years ago I would have loved to have giving this a shot. But not now. Henry told me that one of the guys on the 2MA books has gone on to do stunt work for the Star Wars films. Not bad hey?

I think people need to realise what options are available to them if they have skills. Flips are entertainment, and many people deserve to get paid for it.
