This just in…. the Manning family is suing Fox over a recent episode of Family Guy in which Stewie creates a somewhat dumber clone of himself to take care of the day to day activities for which he has no desire to do.  The Mannings are alleging that the idea was stolen from the family’s attempt to clone Peyton years ago so that they would have two superstar QB’s in the family.  The resemblence is uncanny.

I have the best friend ever

Because she’ll pick me up and drop me off the airport whenever.

Because she’ll totally bug me to buy plane tickets until I do.

Because she’ll let me crash at her place and then feel bad because it’s a mess (as though she hasn’t been messy from the moment I met her).

Because she feels bad her car is a mess when I arrive (as though she ever had a clean car all the time I’ve known her).

Because she’ll feel bad that she invited her friend I don’t know and expect me to be upset (which I wasn’t).

Because she’s always ready for a sushi dinner.

Via the Idaho Statesman comes word of a new cloud seeding project to increase snowfall amounts and raise water levels in reservoirs in order to increase hydro electric power output. Its an old idea that has been around for a long time. I remember seeing it in cartoons as a kid. Wylie Coyote wants to stop the road runner with a flood so he seeds the clouds ahead of the RR with Acme cloud seed. Somehow the RR misses the flood and the Coyote gets washed out instead. And so in the category of truth is srtanger than fiction the Idaho Power Co. is spending millions to seed the clouds. So lets make sure we tell them that declaring a Federal Disaster area / Emergency and demanding fedral funding after they have a huge blizzard is off limits, no federal money for the laying in the bed you made. Seed away! (By the way  China just had a run in cloud seeding  that resulted in a blizzard- see brief below)

All I want to do is embed a goddamn video.

I have tried the “Post to WordPress” and that doesn’t work for the video in question. I can’t download it and then upload it. Embedding using the embedding code for the video (of course) doesn’t work on WordPress because WordPress HAS to be obtuse and make it impossible to do something that any other blogging site allows you to do simply and easily. And when I check with (so-called) “Support” forums all I find is complicated “it is so easy” freaking plug-ins which they don’t bother to explain how to use.

Just let me embed a goddamn video.

Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking.  Like with this story from London, was they guy really upset with his photo? Seriously, what was he thinking?

A British man on the run from police sent a picture of himself to his local paper because he disliked the mugshot they had printed of him as part of a public appeal to track him down.

South Wales Police had issued media with the photo of Matthew Maynard, wanted by officers investigating a house burglary, as part of a crackdown on crime in Swansea.

When it appeared in the South Wales Evening Post, the 23-year-old sent the newspaper a replacement photo of himself standing in front of a police van. They obligingly printed it on the front page.

The police thanked him for helping them in their appeal, saying: “Everyone in Swansea will know what he looks like now.”

How in the world did the French almost lose two world wars with this kind of ingenuity? Gotta see it to believe it.

Best political cartoon.  Ever.

Yesterday I heard my phone ring and I went to answer it. I followed the ring trying to find it.  I went to the sound of the ring, it sounded weird. But when I got to where I thought it was, it wasn’t there. The ringing stopped, but I was determined to find it. I looked and I looked and  I could not find it! I looked every where!

The phone rang again a couple hours latter. I still could not find it! Finally, around three I went to the fridge for a snack. Guess what I found? My phone, in the refridgerator. I’m not sure when I placed it in there. Or why. What was I thinking?

We grew one nice pumpkin this year in our garden, actually it was a volunteer that grew right out of our compost pile. I don’t know if the birds dug up the seeds we planted in the garden and deposited it in the compost or if it was seed from last year’s jack-o-lantern that I threw in the compost. At any rate I was pretty happy with it and it grew quite large. The seeds we actually planted in the garden did not produce any pumpkins. So I will need a lot of practice before I can compete with the guys below! Check it out…
