These photos are from a hair and beauty spread in Vogue Nippon’s December issue, I didnt have much reason for posting them apart from the fact I love the hair very 80s esq  and as you know by now I’m infatuated with that era.

Een boeket voor de koningin.

Na de eerste keer in de startblokken gestaan te hebben bij Art Amsterdam is het er nu dan toch voor gekomen: bloemen op locatie heeft een overhandigingsboeket voor de koningin mogen maken.

Op zich vielen de richtlijnen voor het boeket best mee. We hoefden ons niet te houden aan bepaalde kleuren of zo. Via de hofdame kregen we te horen dat we geen rekening hoefden te houden met haar kledingkeuze van die dag. Het moest een klein boeket zijn en het mocht niet nat zijn. Dat was eigenlijk alles. We hebben er iets moois van gemaakt natuurlijk. We vonden dat er veel kleur in moest zitten en een echt bloemen -op-locatie-boeket worden: vol, kleurrijk, veel bloemsoorten naast elkaar en spannend om naar te kijken.

Bloemen styling voor Unicef congres.

Unicef had ons gevraagd om de bloemen styling te doen van de Unicef kinderrechten conferentie. Omdat de koningin beschermvrouwe is van Unicef was ze natuurlijk ere-gast op de conferentie. De hooglandse kerk in Leiden, waar het congres gehouden werd is een prachtige grote en overweldigende kerk. Een prachtig podium voor onze bloemen omdat de kerk helemaal wit en grijs is. De bloemen gaven kleur en warmte aan de kerk.

Unicef was erg tevreden.

De samenwerking met Unicef was heel prettig en professioneel. We voelden duidelijk een klik met de organisatie. Na afloop kregen we van Unicef een bedank-kaartje via de post.

Graag wil ik jullie bij deze nog even hartlijk en persoonlijk bedanken voor de prachtige bloemen waarmee jullie de Hooglandse kerk op 20 november versierd hadden.

Uiteraard was het kinderrechten congres een item op het jeugdjournaal. En natuurlijk; de bloemen kregen veel aandacht van de camera. In bijna elk shot zat wel een van onze bloemstukken. Tijdens de oplevering kijk je er veel te technisch naar maar als je dan je eigen werk op een foto, of nog beter; op televisie ziet, dan kun je echt nagenieten. Leuk.

If there is one element of the human appearance that most stands out, it’s the hair. Just think about how often you’ve heard someone describe a person by their hair color or style – it’s a common occurrence. Many people find that they have a knack for styling hair. Maybe they’ve experimented by cutting a friend’s or their child’s, and now want to turn it into a career. While part of hairdressing is talent, it takes proper hair design training to really become a proper hair stylist. I feel that schools should have a mandatory of 2500 hours in a nationwide curriculum course. State’s require to little time to be spent in school. And off they go! Take an exam and you have a license.

By attending a Cosmetology course you’ll learn the finer points of styling hair. This includes learning the current and ongoing popular trends, as well as the timeless elements of form that go into every good style. Students of hair design will also learn about proper health and maintenance of hair, which is vital to maintaining a good style. Some schools will also encourage their students to embrace their creativity and try to develop their own styles that will really wow their future clients. Schools often teach out of manuals that are not current, and the course’s should be current. When taking the exam there should be a written test but also a practical. I also feel that the License should not be given until the student completes an apprenticeship of a mandatory of one year. Then I feel the license should be given to the student.

Hair design courses vary wildly in terms of cost and how difficult they are to get admitted to. For a long time, people viewed hairdressing schools as the places that people went when they couldn’t cut it in a real college. However, it is increasingly become a more legitimate choice to enroll in cosmetology programs and learn hair design and other beauty enhancing skills. Along with that shift, many new hair design training schools have arisen. Some of these schools are highly exclusive and very expensive. Watch out for all the Private Colleges, Career Training Institutes, Vocational Schools also.

However, there are still many government sponsored programs that are designed to be inexpensive, quick and rudimentary introductions to the world of hairdressing. These programs provide students without training and knowledge to pass a certification test in their state, but little else. Those who dream of hairdressers who are known across the world – or at least in their local communities – are more likely to get the training they need at a private hair design school. Costs for the more exclusive schools can rival the costs of prominent four-year universities, while the prices for the smaller programs can be much cheaper than even community colleges.

For many people, hair design is a form of art. It be discouraging to an up-and-coming hair stylist when they discover that the hair design school they want to attend is out of the price range. Fortunately, there are many options available to help students pay their way through hair design courses. Government grants.

Jeg har også et Roberto Cavalli-smykke, men jeg glemte å ta bilde av det, så det suger litt for dere, men shit au. En annen gang, kanskje.

Smukke Kristen Stewart er en af mine favoritter når det kommer til stilikoner. Hun har en hård attitude og er ikke bange for at vise sin personlighed igennem anderledes og vildt tøj, hvor hun, for det meste, formår at sætte noget virkelig nice tøj sammen.

Jeg er meget inspireret af hendes stil, og det giver mig ideer til at sammensætte mit eget tøj på nye måder. For slet ikke at snakke om hendes (gamle) hår, som også ses på billederne, som var helt fantastisk, før hun fik det klippet til hendes nye film The Runaways. Glæder mig også meget til at se filmen trods hendes ikke altid optimale skuespillerpræsentation.

When Akio Kondo came for a visit this summer he worked on a lot of trees. My favorite is a semi-cascade Western Juniper.

Although the tree has only been in training for a few years, it has a very bright future. The movement is attractive and the deadwood is spectacular. It will be a boon to any exhibit in which it appears.

Its first exhibit was earlier this year in Bay Island Bonsai’s Exhibit of Fine Bonsai. Michael Hagedorn styled the tree for this outing and it looked great. Previously Boon had worked on the tree, carving the right side of the trunk to add interest where previously the deadwood had been smooth.

Over the past five years, I’ve seen many collected Westerns become amazing bonsai.  If collectors can continue to find such great specimens, we’ll have a wonderful generation of them to display in coming years. Even then, however, this tree will stand out among them.

Whether viewed from the sides or from above, the tree appears to be styled like many other bonsai. What makes the work special can be appreciated better from below.

Collected trees rarely have the branches necessary to create an attractive silhouette. Rather, they are frequently long and leggy. And until new buds can be developed closer to the trunk, much bending is required to get these trees into shape. This juniper is a good example of this. As you can see in the photo below, long branches are bent back and forth to bring the foliage closer to the trunk. Guy wires hold the more extreme bends in place – well applied wires take care of the rest.

When new buds pop and young shoots develop, the longer of these branches will be cut. This will help the tree develop the kind of character we appreciate in bonsai. In the mean time, the tree will look great thanks to good wiring technique.

Kondo’s work on this tree is some of the more beautiful and creative I’ve seen. While it’s hard to appreciate in photographs, it’s surprisingly compelling in person. And it’s great encouragement for me to do my wiring homework.

Ok so this made it here because I loved the jacket’s in the first and second pic, also the snood in the second aswell; I always wanted one from when I saw the Scottish Widows advert as a child now there making a fashion comback. The dress in the third picture looks great aswell I just wish I could see it fully, the detailing around the bust area looks on point.

Here’s two shots from a fashion spread in Teen Vogue’s December issue; while I didnt post all the shots from the shoot I found these to be best, looking at it I find it so refreshing and only makes me wish that my peers did actually dress like. I love the second shot the styling reminds me of life size Bratz dolls.

The Highland Fling is used in gay square dancing as a replacement for Do-sa-do and as an activity for the inactive couple in Couples Promenade.  There is likely a long, colorful saga of the history of The Highland Fling involving clans and jigs and things Scottish.  Wikipedia will have those details.  Gay people like to do the fling because it is much more tactile (hence, sensual) than the alternative.

Dancers start hip to hip.  The left hands can touch over head, but they don’t have to.  Right arms go around your partner’s waist.  Turn completely around, then step back.  You will be right back where you started.  All this pretty work (skirt work is appropriate here if you have a skirt) accomplishes nothing.  Well, there is the thrill of touching and holding your partner, but if you get all tingly doing the Highland Fling, you may wish to discuss this with your therapist.  The Highland Fling starts and ends in exactly the same place.  You start facing your partner and end facing your partner.

This trend is all things feminine: Romantic florals, sheer fabrics and cosmetic colors.

Yes honey are you still standing? Mmmm I know its too early for goodness like this right, catch your breath, lets breathe together. I know I’m so dramatic, but this is good stuff seriously right! So inspiring I’m seriously in awe of the perfection of this shoot. The model, the construction of the clothes, the makeup, the simplistic edginess it all works for me. There is truly and art to styling! I wanted to post the entire look book from Italian line Malloni, but that would be overkill now wouldn’t it. When I see fashion encompassed as a whole like this, it revives my passion for the ART that is fashion. I know that was extremely cliché, but it is what it is! I’m so excited by these photos, but don’t let me hold  you any longer hurry on over to their site and indulge in the rest of the amazing looks! Thank me later
