Given that it is a “holiday” week, Unique Goddess does not have the time to give DXS Rapture the review it’s due. It was such a grand and diverse crowd with high level action that continued through to the wee hours of the morning. One very talented professor performed his rope magick, suspending two delicious hotties in the sixty-nine and sixty-nine they did! Mmmm, mmmm good!

The ever fabulous Mistress Leianya was in attendance with a body that would knock a blind man off his feet! Unfortunately, The Goddess missed her scenes, as She was busy supporting DXS with other duties. Although, The Goddess had opportunity to feast Her eyes on a beautiful new Domme learning the ropes, which is always a delight. This young Woman has the right look and right attitude! This is the type of Woman Unique likes to see join Her community.

There were also a lot of other new and beautiful faces of all ages. It’s nice to see Our community so seamlessly combine those of all experience levels and age ranges. With Our tight-knit DXS Fetish Family, people feel free to be themselves and play as they please. It’s a wonderful place to go to openly and erotically express O/oneself; only O/one’s imagination is the limit!

This was the last DXS Rapture for the year, so if you missed out, the next one will be in January. Unique will surely post word when the time comes, so keep your eyes peeled. Of course, there will be a ton of other Wintry Wiles going on in December, so don’t get blue so quickly; The Goddess is always up to something naughty and devious!

The Goddess still has time available next week, so hurry and get on Her schedule, because you know that can change quickly!

BTW, The Goddess has a new secret hideaway playspace available, although She is still available for session in Rockville too, email for details! Have a Happy Turkey Day, you filthy cockgobblers!

When I first started subbing on youtube I didn’t know hardly anything about Korean music. I started out with my first translation, Epik High’s “One” because the widespread translation at the time left room for a lot of misunderstanding. After that I took requests and ended up doing mainstream stuff like Taeyang, some Big Bang and general love songs. I also tackled Epik High’s album “Pieces, Part One” and eventually “Remapping the Human Soul” out of personal interest. Taking requests for mainstream music worked out for the time because I had a whole lot to learn at first.

Translating mainstream, and even Epik High was an important time for me, like a stepping stone. Soon I took on Nell’s albums and MC Sniper’s “How Bad Do You Want It”, and I have to say I am much more confident in my translations of them than my earlier Epik High translations. Time took it’s course and I ended up finding the Korean music that I enjoyed the most, so I stopped taking requests.

Subbing isn’t a job for me, I did it because I enjoyed finding new songs and learning what they meant. I also did it to improve my Korean, out of love for the country, and out of a sense of responsibility to do something meaningful while careless white kids continually give Americans a bad name in Korea.

When I had found what I considered to be just about the summit of Korean music, translating lost its thrill. It feels like I’m listening to the best of the best when I hear Nell’s and Drunken Tiger’s songs. There are other songs I still enjoy listening to, for example Kebee- and I’ve been listening to a lot of underground on one of my subscriptions’ channels- but it’s gotten hard for me to feel that old thrill like I’m finding something new and great.

Besides being busy with school and my life, translating rap takes a considerable amount of time for me because I still do it in steps to make sure I catch most of my mistakes and to make sure I understand everything in context. When I continue subbing, it will have to be out of feeling that same thrill that I felt at first. The only place I can still feel that is from Drunken Tiger and underground music.

Sinopsis:

It’s been another busy week for Unique Goddess, with many great things on the horizon. She’s been interviewing sissies and a few show good promise, although as W/we know, only time will truly tell. The cute lil boi She interviewed today seems quite a fit, as it is an intelligent creature working in architecture, which The Goddess LOVES, as well many shared interest areas (including domestic servitude) and other areas in which The Goddess would love to assist it in exploring. It’s nice to see the right type of bois apply for servitude, especially when they show a true desire to not only submit, but to actively serve. As Unique gets more settled in, all the small pieces are falling right into place. “That’s right pathetic sissy, put on that apron and get to cleaning!”

This upcoming weekend is DXS Rapture and The Goddess’ has a full night of hot wax and electro-torture planned. She still has availability for next week, so hurry up and get on Her schedule, as She’s been UBER BUSY and also be sure to check back here for the DXS Rapture review next week, it’s bound to be sizzling!

Let the weekend debauchery begin!!!!

What a grand weekend it’s been for Unique Goddess! She spent Her Saturday with a beautiful lacsiviou

What a grand weekend it’s been for Unique Goddess! She spent Her Saturday with a beautiful lacsivious slut grrl. The Goddess has special plans for this grrl, as she’s more than proven worthy of Her attention. Ah, but W/we must keep quiet on that, as The Goddess does not want to let the cat out of the bag! No, W/we’ll keep that kitty bound until it’s playtime at this upcoming DXS Rapture; mmmm mmmmmm good!

Setting up in a new space can be quite fun, it seems to bring out the creative genius in The Goddess and She has so many great plans in the works. On Sunday, She started planning, organizing, and setting up Her great dressing area. As She played with all of the various colorful costuming gear, She visualized Her sissy prancing around in them. Haha! This week that visual will become reality! In this same dressing area, The Goddess will have Her beautiful antique sewing machine set up. I mean, why not? It’s the perfect spot, as She will definitely design and sew new clothes in which to dress not only Herself, but also Her sissies. The Goddess looks forward to creating many new memories in Her new domain!

It’s also fun to pull out memories of old, as a picture sits upon the refrigerator of The Goddess’ younger brother and daughters, when She dressed them up as the Spice Girls for Samhain back in ’98! Haahaa! Laying Her eyes on books She’s not seen since January, She revels in various poetry and many great historical classics. Listening to Gil Scott Heron, as She perused Poe, She came across a work that particularly struck home with Her, Poe’s “The Power of Words”. The whole piece is great, but one phrase stands out to Her the most:

“Ah, not in knowledge is happiness, but in the acquisition of knowledge! In for ever knowing, we are for ever blessed; but to know all were the curse of a fiend.”

How befitting to The Goddess’ strong innate curiosity and thirst for knowledge! Books and more books everywhere; wow, those are some very heavy boxes full of heavy knowledge, from Abstract Art to Zen Therapy. Her silly slut, kelly, had “Naughty Needles” and “Domiknitrix” sent to Her house and She can’t wait to get started learning to knit and eventually creating Her own designs. Those who get close enough to Her, quickly realize Unique Goddess is an open freak and closet geek. She can easily get lost in books for both entertainment and learning and is always exploring and experimenting with something new.

In the near future, The Goddess plans to build Her own glass labware distillation setup. This goes along with Her practice of natural health, as She has grown quite fond of Rosemary and many other various herbs and would like to take it all a step further in creating Her own essential oils. The more She learns, the more She wants to learn. Whether it’s naturopathy or BDSM, She loves to dive into the flame feet first and imbue Herself with information. It feeds that inner dancing flame, making it grow ever-stronger and ever-powerful and keeps Her mind active.

The Goddess loathes laziness, physical or otherwise. Those who want to appeal to A Goddess like Unique must have more going on than a pretty face. A pretty face and hot body may initiate attraction, but The Goddess seeks those of high intellect, drive and ambition. Leave the slothfulness for the tunnel-vision sheeps of O/our society, as they are of no use for Unique. Those who think outside of the box are the ones She truly seeks to pull into Her web! Free thinkers unite!

It’s a gorgeous day out today, so The Goddess went out for playtime with the pup in Her big backyard! YAY! Enjoy your day and remember, don’t be lazy, make haste, not waste!!!!

TV subtitles may be primarily for deaf people or those who are hard of hearing, but research has revealed they are used by six million people who have no hearing impairment. Why?

Perhaps we should blame NYPD Blue or ER or whichever TV series it was that first pioneered the shaky, handheld camera technique.

Years ago a TV drama, be it Minder, Juliet Bravo or Day of the Triffids, exuded a certain staginess. We didn’t really know it at the time… it was just how TV was.

Action tended to be a tad stilted and characters’ lines were delivered with Rada-like clarity, often in Received Pronunciation.

Then along came a trend that might best be described as TV Verité. Cameras rolled, jumped and jostled to intensify the on-screen drama and microphones struggled to keep up.

Key plot developments might turn on a muffled comment, or a piece of dialect indecipherable to outsiders. But no matter, in the eyes of the director – the more authentic the better.

Not so in the ears of the viewers, however. Which might explain the current vogue for subtitles.

Rapid fire ramblings

Research by Ofcom, the media regulator, has found that of the 7.5 million people who use TV subtitles, six million have no hearing impairment at all.

For those who have discovered the joy of subtitles, the idea of keeping up with the countless plot twists inflicted on 24’s Jack Bauer, or Christopher Eccleston’s rapid-fire ramblings as Doctor Who, would be nigh-on impossible without the aid of 888 – the Ceefax/Teletext page where subtitles live.

Why change a classic design? Subtitles from 1982

The problem with subtitles is once discovered they can be incredibly hard to let go of. Their value extends to a rich variety of TV-watching scenarios.

Tucking into a bag of crisps while slobbing on the sofa? Subtitles ensure not a word is missed as the sound gets drowned out by the head-echo of crunching.

Trying to lull a baby to sleep… cut the sound and let the subtitles do the work.

And where videos were useless, DVDs only feed one’s subtitle addiction.

Diligent subtitlers – and there seem to be plenty of them out there – even go so far as to include the name of a song that is being played in the background, and the artist performing it. (How long before viewers will be able to click on the title to download the song?)

Others actually transcribe the lyrics.

The vast majority of subtitling is pre-recorded, but when watching the news with subtitles one can’t help but respect the craft of the live subtitler, as they struggle to keep up with galloping newsreaders.

Sentences frequently go uncompleted. Errors are common, and entirely understandable, but that doesn’t stop them eliciting a slight grin – like the subtitler who recently referred to Andrew Lloyd Wober.

Now and again, one even detects a certain recklessness in the subtitle suite, as when, during one of those celebrity-packed Christmas adverts (yes, ads get subtitled too) Marks & Spencer used to make, a line popped up declaring: “I love you Rupert” just as Rupert Everett hoved into camera.

Occasionally, though, the subtitle can be more a hindrance than a help, even to the most ardent fan. Comic timing is something subtitlers have yet to be able to replicate – with the result that punchlines tend to appear before they are actually spoken and the whole thing is ruined.

Mostly, though, subtitles tend to enhance one’s viewing experience. And who knows – for all of us one day as advancing years take their toll, they will doubtless become even more indispensable.

Add your comments on this story, using the form below.

Up until a few years ago, I couldn’t watch any film that was even slightly scary – but then I discovered subtitles! Even with the sound still on, a typed threat of “suspenseful music” followed by a “piercing scream” and “muffled footsteps” became watchable and, quite frankly, rather funny. I also use subtitles when watching DVDs, but alternate between English and German titles and audio. It has improved my German no end! Long live subtitles, I say!
Lisa, Barnsley

Personally, I’m not one who reads sub-titles – however, I recently joined a gymnasium – and find them very useful. I can follow the rolling news or a cookery program while trying to forget that I’ve still got 5 mins of pain to go. One thought, with the advernt of digital transmissions, any chance of having a more readable font?
John Walker, Petersfield

I am partially deaf and it is difficult for me to pick out what is being said on TV especially when some one speaks fast or when there are several converation in the background. On those programmes where subtitles are not available, I tend to lipread on what is being said and therefore had to stay focused incase I miss a word. For me, subtitles is a blessing and it really helps me understand the plot of the movies, laugh at comedy shows, enjoy cartoon movies with my kids and so much more. I would therefore like subtitles available on almost every programmes, movies, comedy shows etc so I can enjoy them with my family when we watch together. I have recently purchased Sky TV and am a bit disappointed that on some of the channels I have shown interest in does not have subtitles particularly the Hallmark Channel that shows detective and crime movies. But nevertheless you cannot have everything you can ask for and subtitles certainly getting more available than it was 20 yrs ago.!
Asif Iqbal, Gloucester

By far the best use of subtitles ever is home-made kareoke, if you switch on the subtitles during top of the pops you can then sing along!!
catherine, Aberdeen

My wife is Belgian, and when she first moved over to the UK subtitles helped her to understand what people were saying. I’ve since picked up the habit, and we rarely watch TV without them. They’re especially invaluable when watching Never Mind The Buzzcocks, where Mark Lamarr speaks incredibly fast, and the American drama series The West Wing, for the same reason.
Stuart Singleton, Nottingham, UK

Subtitles are also invaluable for people who are not completely fluent in English, often being able to clarify what they’re hearing by reading below. I know several foreign people for whom they make a huge difference and it improves their English too (although I’m not sure whether this applies to watching Eastenders!)
Dan, London, UK

Subtitling has made watching Television a far less stressful experience for me. The producers of all those programmes acting in the mistaken belief that my viewing pleasure is increased by having blasting music playing over the top of muffled dialogue (yes, ER and others, j’accuse) should try shuffling with averted eyes past their neighbours, in the guilty knowledge that they have shared your choice of programming on the previous night. Now I just give up on trying to hear more than 1 word in 3 (I have 25% hearing loss) and rely on subtitles to fill in the gaps. Yes, subtitles are fantastic and the idiosynchracies of the subtitlers do tend to fascinate but PLEASE turn the music down a bit!!
Teresa , Belfast, N. Ireland

This article comes as a great relief to me!I have no hearing problems but often use subtitles. My wife thinks I am mad! Where I work it can be quite noisy, and when I watch the TV of an evening I want a little quiet; in order to be able to hear the dialogue you have to endure the over-the-top supposedly back-groud music!! Subtitles; best thing ever (and you cannot hear the adverts!)
David Oates, worthing

None of our family are deaf, but I’ve had some hearing problems in the past, and my daughter has speech and language problems. Any help with understanding is always useful. Quite frankly we have given up on programs without subtitles and gone to another channel.
Mark Jones, Croydon UK

A friend and I were having dinner whilst watching the Eurovision Song Contest one year.The sub titler was fighting a losing battle all the way, but it was the most hysterical evening. And we left the sound on too for Terry’s wonderful commentary! Unfortunately they seem to be a little more prepared for Eurovision nowadays.
Jill, England

Some of the best uses of subtitling I’ve come across on DVD is in the Production Notes on some of the Dr Who DVDs which can provide an alternate commentary, ie “Watch out for the scenery wobble in this scene.”
Dicky Entrails, London

My wife and I use subtitles when we feed our baby. We turn the volume down and it is a chance for us all to relax and veg out in front of the TV without disturbing our Georgie before bed.
Alex Young, Byfleet, England

The best use of subtitles for me has to be on Never Mind The Buzzcocks during the Intros round – indescribably funny, you have to see it to appreciate it!
Richard, London, UK

Being ‘hard of hearing’ I depend on subtitles completely – they’re marvellous. Is there any hope that they could ever appear on programmes we video – that wold be perfect!
Evelyn Harding, Hook, Hants.

I saw a superb subtitle mistake a couple of months ago… there was a report on the news about a new employment policy that would benefit millions of unemployed and impoverished indian citizens… the subtitle read “If this policy works, it may be set to achieve even more that my hammock man Ghandi”! That kept me amused for weeks! Or maybe Muhatma had a hammock company that I’m unaware of?
Leo Freedman, Liverpool

I watch the Welsh language programme “Pobl y Cwm”, via satellite, with subtitles! It’s great; much better than the other soaps!
Gaz Mung, Southampton

I started using subtitles so I could watch telly and breastfeed my baby peacefully. Now it feels odd to watch telly without subtitles. It is annoying on University Challenge though, when they put the answer on right after the question!
Lisa , Chippenham, Wilts

If subtitles are so popular then why, during documentaries and news items when someone is speaking in a language other than English, is it necessary to dub the sound rather than use subtitles?
Tony, Horsham, UK

How apt that at long last Sensory disablement has been given a page of publicity that it so richly deserves. I am profoundly deafened since 1953 and a very keen campaigner for increased subtitling on ALL channels including Digital. Many years ago, we had just about 5% of programmes subtitled. This figure is now in the 80% or thereabouts. I have carried banners to Parliament, Spoken to Lord Ashley many times, campaigned with The Royal Institute of the Deaf, and for my involvement I have been awarded the British Empire Medal. Deaf people are the ‘Cinderellas’of Diablement. But we NEED Subtitles to enjoy Television. Never mind the few mistakes, our common sense can very quickly get the tread of the story or joke. My visits to the subtitling Units of both BBC and ITV have ‘opened’ my eyes to the complexity of the equipment re
ALAN.M.ROBERTS.

I have problems hearing and am reliant upon a crossaid directing all sound into one ear to catch several pieces of Information clearly. I find that I am very dependant on subtitles for most films and even find that the subtitles pick up things that are not heard. this makes my life a lot easier. If people wish to use subtitles then it isa fine by me and even a good idea in some cases as they are not affected by masive amounts of background noise in places where a voice would be.
Stuart Casley,

I use subtitles all the time on the Television and on Dvds, even though i haven’t got a hearing impariment. I find i prefer not to watch a film without the subtitles. although i didnt realise that the subtitles were purely for the Deaf. I do feel it enhances the viewing, and i don’t see it as a hinderance. The only time it is a hinderance is when the words don’t form properly and you are left with a lot of symbols and parts of words. Perhaps this could be improved since the worst channel for these subtitle problems are on BBC1.
Cathrine, Newton Stewart.

I used subtitles on children’s programmes when my daughter was learning to read. She loved being able to read along with her favourite characters.
Belinda Barton, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire

In France, I was a member of this select group who will always go to see a film in its original tongue (be it English, Italian, Japanese…) with subtitles even if I didn’t know anything about the language. I moved to the UK nearly 11 years ago. My English was fine, well, good enough to work! However, I struggled with TV. Programs I loved, especially comedy such as “Have I got news for you” were actually quite mysterious and subtitles were a great help to find out what Paul, Angus and Ian were joking about. Over time, my understanding of English has improved. I was extremely happy when I realised I did not need subtitles anymore (well, I still need them for Rab C.) But they are so useful when there is noise around, they also sometimes help concentrating on the program I am watching. I really miss them when they are absent.
Pascal Jacquemain, Welwyn Garden City, UK

Using subtitles while watching TOTP2 reveals the lyrics that I just La-la-la’d along to in my youth.
Clinton Buckoke, Leigh-on-Sea, England

I think you forgot to mention that subtitles are of great use for foreigners living in England and who find easier to read English than listen to it spoken very quickly.
John-Paul Keane, Paris

I love subtitling! For me, it gives me a better understanding of the show and is a *big* plus for DVD’s. One of the many reasons why I do not buy pirate DVD’s is the lack of subtitles. If a DVD has no subtitling – I think twice about the purchase. For most American shows subtitling is a must – especially where the leading actors’ have a southern drawl!
Andrew Johnson, South Croydon, Surrey

If it wasn’t for the overloud background music, ambient noise levels on the set and actors indulging to the full in “the method” we would not need to resort to sub-titles. I am sure the programme producers will rebut this by saying it adds to the realism of the programme, but frankly I would rather hear and understand.
Bob Peel, Maidenhead, UK

Maybe subtitles are good reading practice for TV watchers?
Stevie Afghan, Bristol UK

Subtitles during Top of the Pops is a surreal experience.
Neil Walton, Bicester, UK

I always used subtitles so my kids could play without interupting the programme, so the phone ringing and conversations could go on, basically so a programme could be watched wihtout any interuption. I’m not sure if it’s just the tv i have, or if subtitles aren’t the ‘done thing’ here, but there doesn’t seem to an equal for it here
Karl, mi/usa (formerly stourport/uk)

My wife and I tend to use subtitles, although neither of us has a hearing problem, for 2 reasons. First, the quality of diction is often so bad that it is difficult to interpret the mumblings. Second, it appears to be compulsory for all spoken word to be accompanied by such raucous “music” that it is often impossible to make out what is being said.
Gerald Law, Crawley, England

I use the subtitles for two reasons: 1) I find some accents very difficult to decipher 2) My girlfriend will usually want a “conversation” while I’m trying to watch television.
Paul, Colchester

As one of those who use sub-titles because of a hearing problem, I appeal to program makers to reduce the volume of incidental music. Often important dialog is drowned out by the music.
Mary Hyder-Smith, Bexhill-on-Sea

i agree absolutely! without subtitles, i would not have been able to understand half of the dialogue in the “lord of the rings” trilogy. especially smiggle’s lines! (precious!)
Ruth, Herzliya, Israel

We use sub-titles. My hearing is poor. My spouse can hear a pin drop in Montana. But, the sub-titles include comments that nobody could hear. I wish they were easier to turn off and on. I wish we could shrink the picture and put the sub-titles below or beside it. Sadly, the channel with the least sub-titles is BBC-America.
cecilchesser, andover, minnisota, usa

I think there ought to be more films with subtitles available at the cinema. When I went to see The Incredibles, there were subtitles shown throughout. I thought they would be off-putting but the only time I really noticed the subtitles is when the deaf guy sat in front of me laughed- he was a fast reader and had got to the punchline before Mr Incredible did!
Caz, Cambs

We often watch “The West Wing” with subtitles in addition to the sound, as the dialogue is pacy and sometimes the Americanisms difficult to decipher. I’ve also found it useful for continuing to watch a programme when someone else in the room is on the phone.
Sally-Ann, Walsall

Perhaps putting the subtitles on while your small kids are watching their shows could help with their reading. I only got this idea because of the tweenie picture. Anyone do this?
uh huh, Cornwall

Although I use subtitles, much to my wife’s annoyance, I would not have to if actors learned to speak clearly.
Phil Thomas, Merseyside

I used subtitles for about two years, when I brought my TV with me from Germany. The sound card in the TV didn’t work over here, but the TV picked up the picture no problem so I used the subtitles instead of buying an expensive new telly. Also when I lived in Germany some of the programmes broadcast in German had subtitles in both English and German, and as my German isn’t very good, they allowed me to watch more programmes than I might normally have.
Leah Fairman, London

Joy of Joys, the snooker world championship is nearly upon us. The subtitlers really have their work cut out adding live text to a snooker match. My wife and I have howled at some of the mistakes made. I suggest to anyone who wants a laugh to add the subtitles for it, it makes it so much more fun.
scott heatherley, birmingham

I suffer slight hearing loss through mild tinitus, and find subtitles invaluable – particularly with young children in the house who would be disturbed by the excessive volumes required to pick up the nuances of dialog. I just wish Sky’s subtitles were formattted as well as BBC teletext’s!
Greg Mortimer, UK

This realy made me smile. My wife hated subtitles but since rearing two children…the noise…plot lines…distractions…she is just as addicted as me. What will we do if 888 ever goes?
Mark Cooper, Nottingham

Yes, I am one of those 6 million with “perfect” hearing that use subtitles. I am by no means an addict, and don¿t require them to be present to enjoy a film, but for certain movies (ala Quentin Tarantino¿s films fast paced conversations) it has revealed long-hidden dialogue between the actors, and a film can be enjoyed with “fresh ears” one more time. What I have been pondering for some time now is how long it will be before alternative subtitles become all the rage. Like adding your own “what they are actually saying” captions to the likes of Political Speeches, saucy on-screen romances &etc. This is very simple to do when you have electronic media, as the subtitles are simple stored in a text file (.sub) with timestamps indicating when you want text to appear on the screen.
Ben McInerney, London

I think you’ll find that a lot of parents use them so they can actually tell what’s going on over the clamour of kids playing.
John King, Southport

I find them helpful, as I watch a lot of British TV and miss some words due to the “accent” issue (yes, yes, I know I’m the one with the accent!!!)
E Mily, NYC, US

Subtitle actually helping my family to learn English and increase vocabulary. Seeing and hearing things are the best way to learn. So the taboo ” subtitle for deaf” should be thrown out and should be used to develop oneself more.
Basanta Luintel, Watford

I was told by someone who works in television that the errors in subtitling of the news – usually phonetically correct – are due to the use of voice recognition software which has no awareness of context?
Bob Anderson, Banstead, Surrey

I find subtitles useful when the background (so called) music in some documentaries is too loud tending to obscure the commentary, especially where the voice is quite soft. The background noise is often quite annoying so it’s good to be able to switch off the sound and watch the subtitle
john, leeds

In addition to those in the article, another reason to use subtitles is to learn a foreign language. Kids these days watch films to death, and know every line. By switching a dvd language preference, and using subtitles, kids can learn a foreign language, and catch the nuances of the language at the same time.
Carl, Reno, Nevada, USA

My partner Anja (who’s German) finds the subtitles helpful to decipher the more broad dialects (!) of the English language, just as I find watching German subtitles when in Germany assists my understanding of the language.
Ric Euteneuer, Stevenage, England

One of the best experience- enhancing uses of sub-titles I can recall is watching the Eurovision Song Contest a few years back. The hilarity of the song translations and the opportunity of seeing the satirical comments from Terry Wogan in print makes great entertainment out of even the worst contender’s efforts.
Ian, London, UK

So, a few weekends ago, my boyfriend was really craving some Hot Truck. I guess it’s a Cornell

So, a few weekends ago, my boyfriend was really craving some Hot Truck. I guess it’s a Cornell thing. I apparently won’t properly understand the craving until I actually eat one of these sandwiches. Rather, one of these loaves of bread, accompanied by sauce and meat and who knows what else. Since he was craving one of their sandwiches, we went out to the grocery store and got some ingredients. Tomato paste, mushrooms, some ground beef, pepperoni, and lots of bread. When we got back to his apartment, we made HUGE sandwiches out of all the stuff. French bread pizzas, I guess you could call it, loaded with sauce and pepperoni and mushrooms and meatballs and cheese. Lots of cheese. Not at all healthy, but it’s not like we were worried about that at the time…

So tonight, when I got home from work today, I ended up hitting up the local grocery store for dinner. I grabbed anything I could think of while I was there. I even grabbed some non-fat plain Greek yogurt. Getting my little brother to take a bite was entertaining… “Sissy, this tastes like sour cream! I think you bought the wrong thing!!”

For dinner, I made imitation-Hot Truck. I don’t even know if that’s possible. Let’s just say that any Cornell alum would look at me and shake their communal head. No one messes with Hot Truck. People have tried, and failed miserably. I tried, and actually made a pretty decent meal out of it. Go me! Unfortunately, dinner was such a diverse combination of ingredients that I don’t even know what to call it. All I know is that I can feel it sitting in my stomach right now. A sure sign that I ate too much…

“Hot Truck…or not even close ” Recipe
1.5 pounds of lean ground turkey
.5 tsp ground cumin
2 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp oregano
.25 tsp parsley
.25 tsp paprika
.25 tsp black pepper
.5 tsp salt
2 handfuls of fresh bread crumbs
1 egg, beaten
3 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
meat from 6 hot Italian sausage links
8 oz. fresh button mushrooms, washed and cut in half vertically
enough olive oil to submerge the mushrooms
2 garlic cloves, minced
1-2 tsp. crushed red pepper (depending on how hot you like your food)
a package of sliced pepperoni
2 large loaves of Italian bread
olive oil to brush on the bread
enough tomato sauce to cover the bread (I make my own)
6 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
Put the mushrooms in a bowl and pour enough olive oil in the bowl to cover the mushrooms. Add the minced garlic cloves and the crushed red pepper. Let the mushrooms sit until you are ready to assemble the meal. Using a bread knife, cut all the way through the bread horizontally (so that it separates into top and bottom, not side and side). Brush the bread with a little olive oil. Set this aside on a baking sheet. Mix the turkey, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, parsley, paprika, black pepper, salt, bread crumbs, and egg. Combine these ingredients well in a bowl (your hands work better than a spoon here). Roll into small meatballs (turkey balls?) with a diameter just slightly larger than a quarter. Heat a large frying pan on the stove over medium heat. Add 3 Tbsp of extra virgin olive oil to the hot pan, and drop in the turkey balls. Cover the pan and cook the turkey balls thoroughly. Heat another frying pan over medium heat and drop small chunks of sausage directly in the dry pan (no need to add oil – the sausage will release enough grease to sufficiently coat the pan). Cover the pan and let the sausage cook all the way through. In the meantime, spread the sauce over the bread. When the turkey balls and the sausage are cooked through, go ahead and put the toppings on the bread. However you like, there’s no specific suggestions. I prefer a pizza with sausage and mushroom and pepperoni and meatballs…in this case, turkey balls. Once the toppings are on, cover each pizza loaf with a cup or so of cheese (to your liking, of course). Stick the loaves in the oven under the broiler for about ten or fifteen minutes, until the cheese is melted and is just starting to brown in spots. Cut into individual servings and enjoy!

Hot off the press from DXS!

November 21st will be the last DXS Rapture of 2009!

So come out and party like it’s… Oh, yeah. Some of you weren’t of age yet in 1999… OK, well come out and party with us anyway.

Some of the things happening just for this party:

Pot-Luck feast of finger food (but only if you feel like it. We won’t turn you away at the door if all you want to eat is people…) Show off your culinary talent! Or make something you’ve never tried making before. Please label your munchies so that folks with dietary concerns are forewarned. On the other hand, if you want to bring something for us to eat off of you, I’m sure arrangements can be made… Hot mulled wine and mulled cider (with optional rum) will be on the stove.

Mistress Leianya is back! If you are already a fan of hers, you know why it is so exciting for us to have this scintillating power Domme bring her professional skills back after taking a few months off. Not only is she thrilling to play with, she is extraordinary to watch. Her Florentine double-flogging technique is truly fantastic!

Fuck machine upstairs in the barn. This is not your ordinary fucksaw; this is a floor-stand, chrome-shafted wonder that has speeds varying from tantalizingly slow and smooth to feverishly fast. (OMG!) Quality tested by Madame Ember herself! Bring your own sleeve-style dildo, or borrow ours. Condoms required if you use ours.

Rumor has it that the exquisite Mistress Dolphy may make an appearance (if we’re really good and behave ourselves… Sort of like Santa, right?)

The DXS vending table will be freshly stocked with newly-made goodies for your holiday gift-giving (or for that Christmas Eve surprise spanking…) Stop by and see what lovely evil we and our shop apprentices have been cooking up… If you just can’t decide, our gift certificates make wonderful stocking-stuffers, available in $5 and $25 denominations. They can be used for toys or furniture; or if the recipient is vetted, for DXS Rapture membership dues. Bring your cash, check, or credit card… Heck, we even barter, if we really like you…

The party will be at Dark Electric’s, AKA the Electro-Ranch in Sterling, VA. That means you will have access to the sauna, hot tub, fully heated Bondage Barn, and all the electric play your skin can stand! Coat check and open bar (but bring cash for tips, please. Show your love!) 9PM to 3 AM or thereabouts… Plenty of free parking. A limited number of half-price memberships are available through work-study, but you must arrange this more than 4 days before the party! This means the deadline for work-study is November 17th. No exceptions. Smoking is permitted downstairs in the Barn or in the lovely outdoor courtyard. $35 membership dues if you’re not already paid. RSVP to dxsrapture@gmail.com.

So, wadda you say, Pilgrim? Yes or no?

I’ll be there…

;->

Madame Ember

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There you have it folks! If you’re not spankful, then you’re stankful! HAHAHA! Seriously, you don’t want to miss out on this event, it’s the hottest kinkfest in town! For vetting process, read towards the end of The Goddess’ previous blog, “Another Electrified DXS Rapture!”
{UPDATE 11/6/09} MasterofStrings, I believe this is the first review of Cat!Cow!Milkyway! Awesome.
Firstly, I don’t exactly hate Cat!Cow!Milkyway! He, yes he, there is only one member in this band, anyways his vocals, synthesizing, guitar, and beats are very catchy and (personally) he is one of the best artists I’ve heard since Austin told me about A Skylit Drive (yes, there are so many shitty bands in a year the only good bands I’ve discovered is an unsigned 17 year old, and 100deadrabbits). And he does a really good job with only one member and I wish his ass would make a new song, but he’s probably busy trying to get signed.
Secondly, the thing I don’t like about Cat!Cow!Milkyway! is that he acts like an attention whore, I understand that he wants to get signed, but in all his covers there are like 5 annotations that say: “Subscribe me” (no, really) “Our band: www.myspace.com/catcowmilkyway” (lol, our), and a shit ton of other promotional drivel that has to do with promoting himself. And for this I call him pathetic.
Cat!Cow!Milkyway!, you need to stop being such a little attention whore, than I could watch one of your videos and not be drowned in fucking annotations.
Cleaning and organizing are always a big part of moving. Unique Goddess likes to utilize this time t
Cleaning and organizing are always a big part of moving. Unique Goddess likes to utilize this time to get rid of unnecessary items, things She may not have use for or hasn’t used for a while, and anything that’s broken, ‘cleaning out the closet’ so to speak. Moving is also a good time to learn who is real and who is plastic. I mean, many a wannabe personal sub claims to be a “true service sub”, but mention moving boxes and suddenly it disappears, only to later exclaim it’s really only seeking to do what it does well (including professional massage); oh, but of course! Sometimes in life W/we must do things W/we do not like to do in order to do the things W/we do like to do, it’s all a part of DISCIPLINE, folks! Why is that so difficult to understand? Once those words are dropped on The Goddess, She has no use for the creature, as this behavior clearly shows it’s self-serving intent. Those who are only out-for-self can submit to and serve themselves and only themselves, leave This Goddess alone!
On the other hand, those who do assist, do so in a great way and it is duly noted. The Goddess is most grateful for these various creatures and people in Her life; those are the ones The Goddess will gladly give Her attention, as those are the ones who prove they are worthy of Her attention! As The Late Great Bernie Mac says, “who ya with?”! Those who show, prove and The Goddess thanks you!
Yes, moving is indeed a great time to “clean out the closet” and Unique is doing a good thorough job of it. If you creatures are not contributing to Her cause, then you’re against it and She WILL abdicate you! Who has time to deal with self-full bastards, when She’s busy building A Great Hedo-Sadistic Empire?!
“Engine arm is off. Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.”
The Goddess is now in Her new apartment and loving it, but there is still much work to be done. She’s in a particularly devious mood of late and is ready to play too. On the menu for this weekend, Ecstatic Electrotorture, Insanely Intense Impact Play, and Brutally Restrictive Bondage. Let’s have fun grrls!
The Goddess still has availability next week, so hurry and get on Her schedule, before it’s too late!
Well, well. Someone is questioning that bit of amusement known as the defence white paper. Maybe there is some hope yet. In this case some of the policos are wondering what to do about a sub fleet that is docked often-used little. Or they see a chance for political point making. Well, OK….
The opposition is calling for a re-think on the number of submarines the federal government is planning to build.
This year’s defence white paper called for as many as 12 missile-carrying “future submarines” to be built as part of a large military build-up.
“We are waiting for a reasonable explanation from the government as to why you need 12,” opposition defence science and personnel spokesman Bob Baldwin told AAP on Thursday.
“There needs to be more dialogue, and I think they need to bring the opposition in.”
Mr Baldwin suggested part of the problem was the resignation of former defence minister Joel Fitzgibbon after the release of the white paper.
“Now is the time for (Defence Minister John) Faulkner and (Defence Personnel, Materiel and Science Minister Greg) Combet to stamp their own authority on the white paper and rationalise the number of submarines,” he said.
Mr Baldwin questioned how defence was going to run so many submarines given the ongoing struggle to man the navy’s ageing Collins class subs.
“What we don’t need is a dozen submarines with ten tied up at the wharf and only two operational.”
