Ashley Cole showed his rarely-seen gallant side on Saturday night when he protected his wife Cheryl

Ashley Cole showed his rarely-seen gallant side on Saturday night when he protected his wife Cheryl’s modesty from photographers.

Wearing a structured, thigh-high Giles Deacon dress to a Girls Aloud party in London, Cheryl struggled to climb into the car.

Fortunately, her footballer husband was on hand, holding down her stiff hemline so the awaiting paparazzi couldn’t get a shot up her skirt.

While not normally so tactile in public, the Coles put on many a display of affection as they held hands and cuddled in the back seat of their car following their brief night out.

As the couple left the party at midnight, a giddy Cheryl started giggling as her husband got a handful of her slender thighs as he tried to hold down her dress as she sidled backwards into the vehicle.

Preparing to head home to their Surrey mansion, Cheryl, 26, and Ashley, 28, held hands and looked lovingly at each other.

Clearly in good spirits after one of her protégées Joe McElderry got a standing ovation from all four judges during the live X Factor show earlier that evening, Cheryl couldn’t stop smiling as she clung on to her husband at the bash.

Cheryl ensured everyone got an eyeful of her sparkling diamond engagement ring which has been noticeably absent in recent Saturday night shows sparking rumours of a split.

Sporting a coral Giles Deacon mini-dress dress that would not have looked out of place on Minnie Mouse, Cheryl braved the rainy weather to show a united front with millionaire Ashley.

The couple arrived at 11pm and only stayed at an hour before heading home.

It’s not the first time the chart-topping singer’s been forced to prove all is well in the Cole household following a recent public spat.

Just this month she posted a picture of herself on her Twitter micro-blogging page wearing the £160,000 rock, saying “3 words. Diamonds Are Forever”.

And forever was the image she was clearly trying to portray at Saturday’s gathering at Sarah Harding’s club in London’s Farringdon.

The party was in honour of Sarah and Kimberley who turned 28 within three days of each other.

And despite their advancing years, the girls showed no signs of slowing down, partying until the early hours.

The only one missing from the group was Nadine Coyle, who’s currently working on her solo album in America.

But there was plenty of other friends on hand to get the party started.

The Sugababes arrived, in what seemed to be the uniform of the evening – the little black dress.

Heidi Range opted to accesorise with a chain belt while Jade Ewen went with a more layered look.

Cheryl Cole’s fight, fight, fight for this love continues as she puts on a show of unity with husband Ashley

So it was left to Girls Aloud stars Nicola Roberts and Cheryl Cole to brighten up the evening.

Nicola’s fluorescent pink dress was a particular head-turner along with her matching strappy stilettos.

Others making on the guest list at Kanaloa nightclub included choreographer Brian Friedman and socialite Hofit Golan.

Cheryl has previously hinted that things are still not right in the Cole household.

Just last week she candidly answered a fan’s question about soul mates during a web chat: ‘I believe in soul mates, yes, but I believe you also have to work at love.’

In a recent magazine interview, she also revealed she only really trusted her mother and her dog.

The new look Sugababes have a new single out called About a Girl. It’s their first since they

The new look Sugababes have a new single out called About a Girl. It’s their first since they drafted in Eurovision failure Jade Ewen into the ranks and went the way of the Pipettes.

That was a harrowing and difficult moment in British musical history but somehow the band survived, like they’ve always done throughout the many, many lineup changes.

The new single isn’t as bad as previous effort ‘Get Sexy‘, but then a man jumping to his death from a twenty-storey building landing on a piano could make better music than that.

It’s still pretty bad though. To mirror the band’s new look lineup they’ve made this song indistinguishable from any other female voice pop-effort.

In particular this sounds a lot like a Saturdays cast-off. It’s just not the Sugababes way!

But beneath the glossy production, beneath those dull, meaningless lyrics there is a message.

They’re trying to warn you. Tomorrow you could go into work and find yourself replaced by someone who might not be able to do as good a job as you, but they’re adequate enough.

It’s easy to laugh at the many lineup changes the group has been through and many have pointed out that we shouldn’t really care about them anymore, and that their own sound doesn’t even exist anymore. Maybe they’re right.

But they’ve gone from producing fantastic singles to singing about real political issues. I think I prefer them this way.

She might be a celebrity mentor every week on the X Factor, but now Cheryl Cole has bagged her very own A-list advisor – Jay-Z.

In her bid to break the States, the Girl Aloud is reportedly being courted by the superstar rapper, who wants to launch her career on the other side of the pond.

A source snitched to The Mirror: ‘Cheryl is the biggest fan of Jay-Z and Beyoncé. To hear the feeling is mutual has totally made her year.

‘She never imagined her album would have taken off like this. To get Jay-Z’s support is beyond her wildest dreams.’

Reportedly, Mrs C first met Jay-Z when Beyoncé sang with Alexandra Burke on 2008’s X Factor.

The rapper has now reportedly developed a taste for UK talent, and has been working with Kanye West favourite, Mr Hudson, and has signed the Sugababes to his label.

Birmingham city centers Christmas lights switch-on has resulted in four people being taken to hospital and many more injured.

It was set to be a switch on to remember with X-Factor runners up JLS and hit girl band the Sugababes, Calvin Harris, Tinchy Stryder and Natalie Imbruglia and many others due to play a free concert to celebrate the start of the festivities.

However as JLS took to the stage a surge against the metal barriers, penning in the crowd, collapsed leaving around 60 people needing treatment. The concert and the switch-on was promptly cancelled to try and avoid further injuries, as West Midlands Ambulance service paramedics set up a special unit to treat the wounded.

The city center expected around 5,000 fans to attend the show, but reports say there were close to 21,000 on the night which over stretched the safety and security measures that had been put in place.

Reports from the ambulance service have said that one woman in her 30’s suffered serious crush injuries to her pelvis, shoulder and leg. Another woman is reported to have broken her ankle. A teenage boy fractured his wrist and a girl had suffered crush injuries to her back and legs.

An ambulance spokeswoman said “The remaining 56 patients suffered minor crush injuries and a range of minor medical complaints. They did not require further hospital treatment and were all discharged by ambulance crews at the scene.”

Birmingham City Council have defended the decision to abandon the event and have said they have started an investigation into the situation.

Pues ME GUSTA SU DISCO!

SHAKIRA: She Wolf

ROBBIE WILLIAMS: Reality Killed The Video Star
“Bodies” me gusta mucho y “Do You Mind?” también.

Me gusta mucho.

1, 2, 3… or 4, on the floor…

ALEXANDRA BURKE: Overcome

LADY GAGA: The Fame Monster

JAMIE CULLUM: The Pursuit

WHITNEY HOUSTON: I Look To You

SUGABABES: Sweet 7

WESTLIFE: Where We Are

Top 5 gay leisure destinations in the U.S according to a recent survey by the LGBT-focused Community

Top 5 gay leisure destinations in the U.S according to a recent survey by the LGBT-focused Community Marketing Inc. are: 1 New York, 2 Las Vegas, 3 SF, 4 LA, 5 Chicago. Seems to be mostly the biggest cities otherwise Fort Lauderdale, Key West and Provincetown should have been higher. With lesbians Las Vegas is number 1, also not surprising. The survey also mentioned the most popular countries for American LGBT travelers in Europe. Number 1 is England, 2 France,3 Germany, 4 Italy 5 Spain. I do not understand England being number 1, I think it should have been Spain. Maybe because it is closest to the U.S.?? Italy is great but not so much for specific gay destinations. And where is the Netherlands???

Gay boy-band with hairy fatties BearForce 1 no longer exists. Well I guess for some it was fun as long as it lasted. Basically 2 years I guess with 2 minor hits. The producer of the band was on dutch TV a while back(he is a famous dutch actor) and he said they were mostly popular in the U.S where the bear community is the biggest. But since a year they have had more changes in members then the Sugababes and they were basically a one-trick-pony anyway. It will not cost me a minute of sleep that is for sure.

Indian election authorities have granted what they call an independent identity for transsexuals on the country’s voter lists. They have the change to pick O for “Other” instead of male or female from now on when indicating their gender. Wow after first legalizing gay sex not this. They are getting very progressive in India lately.

Lots of exciting things have been happening in the world of pop music recently! - Rihanna’s ne

Lots of exciting things have been happening in the world of pop music recently!

- Rihanna’s new album, Rated R, leaked onto the internet earlier today. Now, I am a very good girl and have in no way, shape or form downloaded the album (*ahem*), so I will take a guess at what I will think upon the first listen:

- the intro of the album is pointless (but then I’ve never liked album intros)

- most songs try too hard to be “edgy” (and most fail, instead giving off a cheesy faux-hard rock vibe)

- there are only two or three songs on the album that I actually want to listen to again.

However it’s a consistent album, it flows nicely, but there’s no real substance to it – it feels very disposable and throwaway, and I know its not fair to constantly compare her to Good Girl Gone Bad when she seems to have changed so much since then, but…well, it’s no Good Girl Gone Bad.

- As mentioned in a previous post, Lady GaGa’s video for her new single Bad Romance premiered this week and my God what a video it is. It’s batshit crazy, but then what else do you expect from Lady GaGa?

She even wears Alexander McQueen’s Alien shoes! And proves that it is possible to walk in them! (And look at them, they’re MONSTERS)

- Things have been quite busy in the world of GaGa lately actually, the new version of Beyonce’s (rather shit) Video Phone featuring GaGa leaked (YouTube link), which is nice and all – but not even she could turn that steaming pile of shit into gold.

- There’s also been some other exciting Fame Monster news, with the leaking of Alejandro (and by the way, I know i’ve mentioned on Twitter that I’d like to call my first born son Alejandro recently, but it is what is known as a joke, or a very strange way of showing my affection for this magnificent song, and thus there is no need to tell me that I am cruel, or a BAD BAD PERSON INDEED, as of course I wouldn’t name my first born son Alejandro – it’ll be Vladimir if anything), Dance In The Dark (people say that the synth bit borrows directly from Careless Whisper by George Michael, I don’t think I’m going to get this until someone sits me down and plays me both songs at the same time, I just don’t hear it!) and – BRACE YOURSELVES – Telephone, which is a duet with Beyonce! Beyonce!
I was pretty excited when Beyonce and Shakira got together for Beautiful Liar, but when that turned out to be a bit rubbish I knew not to get my hopes up about this, but oh, it’s wonderful. WONDERFUL. It’d fit right in on The Fame, in a way that Bad Romance and the rest wouldnt, as its another of those ‘I’m in a club and I’m too busy/drunk to do what you want me to do so *insert manic laugh here* i’m just going to DANCE AWAY MY CARES‘ songs that GaGa does so well. Rumour has it that the song was originally for Britney, if thats true then she missed out big time as it’s about 10 times better than anything on Circus (apart from maybe Mannequin, which still holds a place in my heart)

- Sugababes 4.0 have really been at it this week, not only performing on Radio One’s Live Lounge earlier this week, but also performing on GMTV on Thursday. It’s a bit err…well, it’s interesting.
Their dancing leaves a lot to be desired and I can’t help but get the following vibes from each girl:

Jade: ‘Teehee I’m in the Sugababes! Danceydanceylalalayay!’

Heidi: ‘Ooaaaaarghhh (thats the sound of steely determination, people) this is now MY BAND and this is GOING to work OR ELSE!’

Amelle: ‘Ehhh…whatever. Wonder if there’s anything good on TV tonight…’

—–

- In other news, it is Queen week on the X Factor this weekend. Queen are my favourite band, and thus my heart bleeds.

- Ok, that’s a bit too dramatic, if my heart were to bleed over something it wouldn’t be over what is essentially people doing karaoke of my favourite songs live on TV.

I watch the X Factor and I enjoy it, I’m not a music snob and I don’t care if Jedward butcher Radio GaGa because I can just go and listen to the real thing and everything will be ok again. The X Factor is not the devil’s way of making sure music dies a slow and painful death, and despite what some people like to insist, music WILL survive. It always will, and it will always be there, just like it has been there since the DAWN OF TIME. It survived Stock, Aitken and Waterman, I’m pretty sure it’ll survive this.

If you don’t like the show – so what? There are people that do, get over it. It doesn’t mean that they are stupid, or that they don’t listen to what you describe as ‘real’ music as well (one of the biggest X Factor fans I know also happens to be one of the biggest metal fans I know, and she also loves classical and folk music, but obviously if she enjoys the X Factor she’s not allowed to have an opinion on other types of music and it automatically means her tastes are less valid! Like, DUH!) – just listen to what makes you happy, and stop worrying about what makes other people happy.

Have a nice weekend!

I’ve been working on a post about my fantastic trip to seattle last week but i’m not quite done editing the pictures yet and i have to go to bed so i’m just posting a quick update to tide you huddled masses over for another day.

Above I’ve attached the new Lady Gaga video. I haven’t always been the biggest fan of gaga but really, you can’t go wrong with this. Sex slavery, sleeper pods, crazy eyes in a bath tub, AMAZING! Also, I think my main annoyance with Gaga may have been the general bubble around her – the “what will Gaga do next” speculation is, i think, what i find most irritating. No matter, this video is a significant pop music win and i’m currently obsessed.

A quick aside before I leave you, dear readers, for today. Have you all been reading popjustice? I know it’s not always everyone’s cup of tea but today was a bang up day for the world’s leading popnosticator. First, and most significantly, came the startling warning that by April 30, 2265, every man woman and child in Great Britain WILL BE A SUGABABE! This is top-notch investigative journalism my friends and I suggest you read it.

Also on popjustice today was a brilliant review of the Lady Gaga video posted at the top. If I were you, I would watch the video and then hop on over and read the pitch perfect post titled Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’ video: it’s above average as videos go.

Good times.

Oh lookie, its Sugababes 4.0 doing a cover of Florence & The Machine’s Rabbit Heart on Radio 1’s Live Lounge!

Sounds pretty good!

They also performed their new single About A Girl while they were at the studios, complete with a harp. A harp! What I’ve always liked and admired about the Sugababes is how they always seem to take the time and effort to perform acoustic versions of their singles, really showing off their voices and bringing something extra to the song. Their performance of About A Girl was no different, and what I like about this is how different it sounds to the original. However it really seems that Heidi is the glue holding the band together, to me her voice is the only distinctive voice left in the band and she seems to be the one voice left carrying the Sugababes’ trademark harmonies.

Spare a thought for the Sugababes, once known as being the UK’s ‘credible’ girlban

Spare a thought for the Sugababes, once known as being the UK’s ‘credible’ girlband, a refreshing alternative to the sugarysweet pop acts that were around when they first burst onto the scene in 2000 (S Club 7, anyone?), but who have in recent years shed members until becoming unrecognisable as the moody, too-cool-for-school teenagers who gave us modern pop classics such as Overload and Soul Sound back in the early 2000s. Hell, they don’t even bear much resemblance to the comeback queens who bounced back from losing their first member, Siobhan Donaghy, in 2002, with a replacement, ex-Atomic Kitten member Heidi Range, and the Richard X produced smash hit Freak Like Me, instead replacing founding member Mutya Buena with Amelle Berrabah and jumping on 2008’s hottest bandwagon, the faux-soul sound, for their sixth album Catfights & Spotlights.

In 2009, the band took another drastic turn, jumping on yet another bandwagon, the Lady GaGa led electro one, which although was clearly intended to make the American market sit up and take notice of the UK’s number one two girlband, was closer to the sound Sugababes fans loved and missed.

Expectations were high, the ‘Babes signed a deal with Jay-Z’s record label Roc Nation, worked with in-demand producers such as Red One, who was behind Lady GaGa’s Poker Face, and fans geared up for a pop triumph.

If you’re a pop fan, you’ll know that it all went downhill from there. Rumours started circulating that all was not well in Camp Sugababes, though their tweets suggested differently, each girl taking it in turns to deny the rumours that plagued them. The old bullying rumours surfaced once more, and once again, Keisha was made out to be the bully with the other girls taking on the roles of the victims in the tabloids’ day to day accounts of their lives while they recorded their new album in America.

Fans wondered whether it would be the end of the Sugababes, with bets being placed on newest member Amelle departing first – after all, she had just scored her first number one outside of the group with her collaboration with one of the hottest rappers in the UK, Tinchy Stryder, on Never Leave You, and it seemed she could do no wrong, with glossy magazines complimenting everything from her hair to her dress sense to her work with the ‘Babes. Suddenly she ‘disappeared’ after an alleged ‘bust up’ with Keisha, with no one able to contact her for days. It definitely seemed that Amelle was on her way out, possibly to capitalise on her new found popularity, but then, as we all know, it was actually Keisha that was booted out, much to the shock of the music world, and apparently against her will for being difficult to work with.
She was replaced almost immediately by hopeful popstar Jade Ewen, who was last seen representing the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest, and, if rumours are to be believed, was waiting in the wings long before Keisha knew she was being sacked.

Suddenly, the mood changed. Keisha was the last original member of the band, and despite the fact that Heidi and Amelle have both been in the band longer than founding member Siobhan, their once loyal fans have not taken to this well at all. A furious backlash emerged on Twitter, with tweeters overwhelmingly supporting Keisha and threatening to disown Sugababes 4.0, some even believing that the three original ‘Babes would reunite and battle the current lineup in court for rights to the name.

But still, the new line up battled on through the storm, Jade getting hard at work rerecording Keisha’s vocals from the already fully completed album, and recording their new video, leaking pictures to the press that showed their ruthless work ethic and just how well the new member blended in. However, a shambolic appearance on Radio 1, which was meant to introduce the new line up officially, did nothing to help them. During the interview, the girls didn’t appear to know Jade at all, and Heidi sounded audibly upset at points, which merely sent the Sugababes further on a downward spiral.
Planned ‘comeback’ gigs kept getting cancelled, often being blamed on legal issues to do with the new member, and Amelle was later admitted to a clinic in Europe, suffering from “a severe bout of nervous exhaustion”- just as they were about to start promotion for About A Girl. Shortly after, the original Sweet 7 album sampler was leaked onto the internet – including 6 tracks that feature vocals from Keisha, which may prove to be the final nail in the coffin for version 4.0.

It is likely that these tracks were never meant to see the light of day after their management made the decision to fire Keisha, and fans will undoubtedly be unfairly comparing Jade to Keisha on the songs, it doing nothing to help Jade fit in as a Sugababe.
It was revealed this week that the album has been pushed back to February 2010, posing the question – will we ever get to see the official unveiling of Jade as a Sugababe? We’ve seen the video for the single, we’ve seen the paparazzi shots, but we are yet to hear something original with her vocals on it, only rehashes of old songs. While Amelle is recovering, the Sugababes will do what they have always done when one member has gone AWOL – they will promote to the best of their ability as a duo, but is this enough? About A Girl rightly deserves to be a hit, though it is looking unlikely with the currrent state of affairs, but it goes without saying that the Sugababes really need a hit single right about now in the wake of all this drama.

This, of course, is not typical of most pop bands. Although some bands have chopped and changed members, mostly rock bands, it does not tend to work with pop acts that have a limited shelf life and fans with a short attention span. It remains to be seen if the Sugababes can recover from such a blow to their ‘brand’, and only time will tell if their fans can forgive them, but their downfall may just prove to be what has helped to build them up over the past 9 years, the 21st century music industry, and a fanbase whose impatience just cannot be controlled.

Sugababes are an English all-female pop based in London, consisting of members Heidi Range, Amelle Berrabah and Jade Ewen.

Sugababes band were formed in 1998 by original members Siobhán Donaghy, Mutya Buena and Keisha Buchanan. After some initial success, Donaghy departed and the introduction of Heidi Range in 2001 was met with the commercial breakthrough of the band’s first number-one single “Freak Like Me” and parent album Angels with Dirty Faces in 2002. Sugababes band survived a second line-up change in 2005, when Mutya Buena left and was replaced by Amelle Berrabah. In September 2009, it was announced that after eleven years in the Sugababes, Keisha Buchanan was no longer a part of the group and had been replaced by Jade Ewen.

Sugababes have released twenty five singles, six of which have reached number-one in the UK and twenty have reached the top 20 in the UK, seven studio albums that have reached top 40 charts worldwide with success around Europe and Asia having number-one singles in fifteen countries. With seventeen of their twenty five single releases achieving top ten chart success in the UK, Brit Award winners, the trio have been named the UK’s most successful female act of the 21st century. Upon the release of “About You Now” (2007), the Sugababes became the only female act to have topped the single, album, and download chart’s simultaneously twice, having previously achieved the same feat in 2005 with “Push the Button”. Sugababes have attained at least platinum certification for five of their albums in the UK.

The Sugababes are currently releasing their seventh studio album, Sweet 7, their first since signing with Jay Z’s record label Roc Nation in March 2009. The album features production’s from NeYo, RedOne, Stargate, Ryan Tedder, Fernando Garibay, and the Smeezingtons, with additional contribution coming from Sean Kingston.Sweet 7 the first studio album with new member Jade Ewen will be released on 22 February 2010 in the UK.

This may be old news now – however for those that don’t know, word is the original Sugababes are in discussions with Warner Music to reform. If this happens it will be pure comedy, we could have like a Sugababes catfight at the BRIT Awards or something for the band name.

All I do hope, is that the original Sugababes (v1.0) also use the name The Sugababes and then they can confuse the f*** out of everybody. One group could play the O2 and the other Wembley Arena on the same night and we could see who wins… the fun is endless.

Please Warner, let this happen… if Warner are too chicken sh*t, someone else please step in. Girls, you probably got enough money, fund the comeback yourselves! Do you know the legs they will get from this on Never Mind the Buzzcocks!

Fermarsi no?

Originally, I was completely against supporting the new Sugababes line up. I agree with almost all, that a band cannot keep the same name if none of the current members are the original ones. ‘Sugababes’ had become a brand which barely worked after Mutya left. Now without Keisha it seems fairly pointless.

In many ways I had an awful lot of respect for Sugababes, they weren’t as rotten and sexually perverse as some girlbands (or just girls!), there was something quite classy and very British about the whole afair, which was quite refreshing. Songs like ‘Push The Button’, ‘Round Round’ and ‘Denial’ were excellent pop songs, and there seemed to be no stopping of the power of the Sugababes.

Something changed when Amelle joined the group. It’s almost like she was a bad influence. They became more slutty, darker, their songs had stronger baselines. Songs like ‘Easy’ were spawned which were very un-Sugababes. Without Mutya, the sound of the group was destroyed; her voice was soulful and interesting, not a generic sounding voice like any of the other Sugababes past or present, and that almost destroyed the group. Yet songs like ‘Girls’ and ‘About You Now’ came along and there was some hope. That’s until the girls began to fear failier and went to America to work with Jay-Z…

Then along came ‘Get Sexy’. It is a catchy number for sure, and I am hooked on it. But there is something terrible about it too. It’s not the Sugababes we love. It’s not pure unadulterated pop. The chorus is just awful. Whoever decided that would be a good idea should be shot!

Then the unthinkable happened. Keisha gone. No one knows exactly why, but it’s a complete blow. The final original Sugababe had departed but the group still planned to continue. Along came Jade.

I think everyone doubts the new line-up. I doubt they will fail. But they won’t be as credible as they used to be which is a crying shame. Although, in fairness, Jade can sing live which will be a massive change for the Sugababes!

So their new song is making it’s rounds, and I was determined not to like it. Unfortunately, unlike ‘Get Sexy’, I immediately LOOOOOOVED it.

From the opening GaGa influenced ‘Red One; Sugababes!’ and the stomping pre=”stomping “>synthy bass I was hooked. Sassy, sexy and well produced; it goes against everything I loved so much about the Original Sugababes, but it is so bloody good!

The chorus is the absolute best thing about this song; euphoric. It lifts and rises into a vocal force which blows your mind; rages a rhythm through your soul which is bound to have you dancing, singing and smiling all at the same time.

The middle eight holds some awesomeness too; amongst the over-produced (in an epic way) vocals throughout the rest of the song, the middle eight shows the girls voices in a purer form and it’s glorious.

What is suprising about this record is that it actually has me believing there is some hope for the Sugababes; Jade sounds fantastic on this song and the three voices work really well together: I cannot imagine Keisha on this track, somehow it would feel lame, much like ‘Get Sexy’ did. Jade’s astonishing voice completes this overhaul of the Sugababes transformation from Pop Princesses into sexy Dance-Pop Stars and makes the transition a much more credible move.

The video leaves a lot to be desired quite frankly; it makes not sense at all but there is an awful lot of Girl Power, some great choreography and lots of sand-kicking so it’s not totally unpleasing!

As a song, this could easily become one of my favourites of the year; it’s stunning, sexy, danceable, fantastical electro-pop.

And as a band… well. I’m more open to the idea now. Let’s see what the February release of ‘Wear My Kiss’ and “Sweet 7″ brings, eh?!
