hey guys,,,,,, accha can u stay in a place where an announcement of this kind has been done:-

hey guys,,,,,, accha can u stay in a place where an announcement of this kind has been done:-

“There Will Be No Water Supply For Next 3 or 4 days”….

i think no…….

and if u are staying in a hostel and giving your exams then this kind of announcements are really beeeeeeeeep..

well thats the actual matter in our college now a days…… i am at homies now, b’coz the hostel authorities has told us to leave the hostel as they will be unable to suppy water and accordingly the food…….

now WHAT THAT TITLE MEANS?????????/

actually, when we got the news of water problem,, the very first day we went to HOD(CSE) sir and told him to postpone our exams and to take them after D.P. i.e. Durga Puja…….

he seemed quite convinced…. but told us(Me, Poulomi, Shreya, Sreyasi, Parijat, Sumit, Rajeev, Rumela, Rashmi) to meet Registrar sir…. and discuss this matter….. and the registrar kind of kicked us off…… some other deptt. students and we were called by Mr. S.K.Sharma, Chairman, BCET,Durgapur… and what he did,,, was kind of “Jale Pe Namak Chidakna”

we gave ckt. theory and digital electronics exam that day…….

next day our session started from 9.30 for the first time in the history of BCET….with data structure class test,,,,,, just after that we came to know that water problem is being extended for 4 more days….. and the college has decided to postpone the exam….

welllllll i think the moral of the story is we did not get what we actually wanted bt still we got something for us, something in our favour,,,,,,,,,

another one thing that is,,, poulomi wrote the whole ppl lab file b’coz i told her to do so,,,, and she came to know the temp. cancellation of the exams after she completed…… Sorry….for that……

last night i got the game Burnout Paradise Ultimate Box,,,,,,, played the game for whole night and then started my packing……………. we the hostellers did lot of masti,,,,,, on the last night in the hostel before puja vacations…….. now we have exams on 10 th october….

But i am not waiting for that….. i m just waiting for pujas to come sharply…..and i m really happy to get,,what the whole BCET wanted,,,,,, the shift in the exams date….

Joel wrote the other week (yes, I’m getting behind on Google Reader. So shoot me) on the Greek

Joel wrote the other week (yes, I’m getting behind on Google Reader. So shoot me) on the Greek word often translated ‘obey’ (Πείθεσθε), and other words such as ὑπείκετε (submission). He wrote it in the context of obedience to church leadership, but my thought at the time was that it was also interesting in the context of defining what was biblically meant to ‘obey’, and hence in the context of traditional marriage vows (based on scripture), which speak of loving, honouring and obeying. Basically, Joel’s conclusion regarding translation is this:

obey means to trust, have confidence in your leaders. And again, the word rule refers to a leader or person who has influence over others. Submit means to listen to, to allow yourself to be persuaded.

I doubt that many women would object to vowing to trust or have confidence in their husbands, or even to listen to them. And I think it’s a sad thing that this understanding of obedience hasn’t followed through, allowing for the rise of harsh Complementarianism that I’ve discussed here. One thing I haven’t checked, though, is if the same words for obedience and submission are used in regards to male-female relationships, but I suspect they are.

I don’t think I would have any problem, if I was to marry someone who objects to ‘obeying’ me, for them to instead vow to trust in me and have confidence in me. Would any of you object to this? Why?

This was due to both France and Italy failing to honour their pledge of financial help for Africa at the last G8 meeting in London.

Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi announced today that they have decided not to keep any promises at all and will spend the money on lavish sumit meetings instead.

I took my second Hot Yoga class this morning. My first time was last Sunday so it had been one week

I took my second Hot Yoga class this morning. My first time was last Sunday so it had been one week. I got a serious headache a couple of hours after the first class and it happened again today. I drank more water afterwards this time, but it didn’t make a difference. I feel drained.

The class was pretty much exactly the same. Postures may’ve varied a bit towards the end, but all and all, even the dialogue was exactly the same. I guess there’s not much room for creativity in a hot yoga class. I practiced Ashtanga Yoga for a couple of years, three times a week at six in the morning. It was a warm class and we even ran some heaters to create more heat. But it was not 111 degrees like it was today! I will say, I like Ashtanga better. I feel like it’s more of a moving meditation than this hot yoga. I also remember feeling more focused and definitely more alive during that practice. I also feel like Ashtanga follows the Eight Limbs. I do not believe that hot yoga does. When the teacher says, “And push, and push and push and bend your back until it hurts,” I have a hard time believing that hot yoga is following the law of Ahimsa (non-violence).

I don’t believe yoga should hurt. I do believe it can be challenging but without dire pain. I do believe that practicing in a tropical atmosphere is a good idea. I also believe that if you are so incredibly warm, and you stretch your muscles beyond 25% or so of their resting length, there’s room for damage. I’ve practiced yoga for almost 10 years now. I didn’t push until it hurt today. I know my body and I did rest when I felt extremely overheated. What scares me is this. There’s a lot of folks doing hot yoga that’ve never taken a yoga class at all. I feel these are the people that will be competitive and that’s when injuries occur. I know, I’ve done that.

After the class I ran home and got cleaned up and met the girls that attended the class with me at Ocean Zen for lunch. I only wore mascara and a little eye shadow. My face was red for a couple of hours after the class, no makeup needed. My headache is gone now. And my achy back and sore foot feel good. Was it the yoga? Maybe. Will I go back? Yes, I will. I truly believe you need to try something several times before you decide if it’s working for you. I love yoga and though this hot yoga reminds me of the bikini boot camp they offer at the YMCA, it’s not. It’s yoga asana inasauna and I’ll continue to think of it in that way until I change my mind.

Alaina & Sumit are such a wonderful couple – we hit it off right off the bat and felt more like friends than anything! I can’t even to begin to explain the perfection of the wedding day – people came from all over the world to be here for the celebration, the toasts were incredible, the dancing was FABULOUS & best of all Sumit & Alaina are so obviously in love you can’t help but be happy for them!

I was even more excited after I heard about their wedding crew (working with fabulous vendors makes the day fun and a guaranteed success!) The wedding took place at Lord Hill Farms, the gorgeous custom invites were done by Michelle Loretta of mmm…paper, hair & makeup was by Erin Skipley of Bellatrix Studio, the music for the ceremony & reception was Austin Beaver of Nitelite Entertainment and for the photos I had the pleasure of working with the very talented Jennifer Richard. Their big day was in April and we were SO lucky to have a bright sunny day!

Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day …. GORGEOUS!!

We had unusually warm temperatures for a few days this last week, which meant when the rain came it

We had unusually warm temperatures for a few days this last week, which meant when the rain came it brought a cold front. Since I was missing those warmer temperatures (and a good friend invited me) I ventured out to the new Sumit Hot Yoga Studio that opened in our city yesterday. I’d never been to a hot yoga class before. In fact, we didn’t even have a hot yoga studio in our town until yesterday. Bikram (pictured left) is responsible for starting the “hot yoga craze.” When I mean hot, I mean the room is heated with artificial heat to around 110 degrees. He franchises out, so one cannot just open a hot yoga place and use the word Bikram or even his series of postures. In turn, just “hot yoga” has pretty much been running like wildfire. I was reluctant to go as I was busy preparing for garage sale hell, and I also thought that if I went that I might die. But my friend convinced me that she’s 66 (I’m 42) and she was still alive after attending the class yesterday. I decided I would try yoga hell instead.

I’ve taken a yoga class in Florida where the back door was open and it was stiffling hot! But that was a more natural, humid, jungle type of heat. The class was Ashtanga-like and I loved it. But, there was not a thermometer on the wall, so I don’t know how hot it actually was in the studio that day. All I know is I felt totally cleansed when I left, kind of like today.

The new center is located in a shopping center and is inviting to the eye once you enter. I only brought one bottle of water and a small towel and my own mat of course. I wore bermuda length yoga shorts and a tank. As soon as I entered the yoga room, I could feel the warm, dry heat. The space is heated with 6 heaters, two on each wall close to the ceiling. Tip: If you go, get a place closer to the wall, under the heaters, that way they won’t be blowing directly on you. I figured that out half way through the class. He uses music. Some I liked some I didn’t but I wasn’t paying that much attention to it. I was too busy focusing on the different names he had for each pose. One thing I couldn’t get myself to do was to lock my knees. My knees do not like that and I don’t feel it’s that safe, but maybe it is when the room is 109 degrees. And it was, 109. The thermometer was right behind me, in big digital numbers I could read it. I also noticed some flashing light every now and then and I began to wonder if the iPod mounted on the wall, was shooting pictures and how scary that will be if and when those surface.

We started right off into postures and I don’t remember what ones. We did mostly standing stuff, lots of Warriors, lots of balances and lots of sideways bending. I have a partial fallen arch in my right foot, so I had to surrender and come out when it hurt. Towards the end, we took several mini shavasanas (relaxation on our backs) for like 20 seconds, eyes open, arms close to the body. Then, we had to pull ourselves up with our hands reaching our toes working our core. Then we’d stand back up again, flow or do standing postures or both, then back down again, mini shavasna time. It will take a getting used to, the stand up lie down part for sure. In most yoga classes, you start off with meditation or breathing, or both. Then you do standing work, the class peaks and you return to the floor. Not at hot yoga. No meditation, no pranayama, not at all. I left the class feeling totally cleansed. My face feels soft and my body feels good as of right now. I stopped at the health food store on the way home and grabbed a couple Kombucha’s to hydrate and picked up some quinoa for a new salad I saw in a magazine.

I like yoga. All of it. In the world today, there are people offering wine and yoga, chocolate and yoga, yoga on a slackline and yoga with your dog. You name it, it’s out there. I know people who will never try this hot yoga because they feel it’s wrong, or unsafe. I say try it and if you don’t like it, don’t go back. I don’t do a lot of cardio and I know it’s good to get your heart rate up and sweat for at least an hour every single day. I don’t like aerobics and I hate to run. All I know is this. Hot yoga will be a nice compliment to my already steady yoga practice and perhaps a substitute for exercise that I should do, but won’t do. After all, you might as well be doing something that you love or you’re probably not going to do it.

The weather is amazingly lovely today, so much that I’m posting from my deck. But it’s time to slam this Kombucha and descend back into garage sale hell. Wish me luck.

Every time facing the god damn boring history textbook, I stumble with never-ever-heard vocabulary.

Every time facing the god damn boring history textbook, I stumble with never-ever-heard vocabulary. It freak me out! I bet you don’t hear this word on the TV, ’cause I don’t neither. So, credenso is the word I found today.

Sample sentence: “The turmoil of 1960s reaches a crescendo in 1968 as the American people responded to the war in Vietnam and the cultural insurgency at home.”

Oxford definition: progress towards a climax
My definition: a process of emotional growth to the top of anxiety
Vietnamese meaning: đỉnh cao

Synonyms: sumit, top, climax, culmination

Level of formality: 4/5

Contextual use: since a simit is used to describe physical object and top is too general to use, srescendo has the same application as climax, however, crescendo is more formal and hardly used in daily speaking. The word is used for evaluating the emotional tension reaching its highest point.

Tricks to remember: “cre” in crescendo can be viewed similar as increase. The this process slowly will reach its top as the meaning of crescendo. Share more trick if you know this word.

Homework assignments: Post a comment writing your own sentences including this word, sharing your tricks to learn or explaining your own situation in using it. Thanks my students ^^.

Origin of the Bishnois

The sect was founded by Guru Jambheshwar (b. 1451) after a drought in the Marwar region of India. He had laid down 29 principles to be followed by the sect. Bish means 20 and noi means 9; thus, Bishnoi translates as Twenty-niners [1]. Further, the Guru directed the worship of lord Vishnu (Bishnu), thus the sect is called Vishnoi or Bishnoi. Killing animals and the felling of trees were banned. One of his 29 principles states “JEEV DAYA PALNI, RUNKH LIL0 NAHI GHAVE” which means to protect trees and animals, thus trees and animals are considered to be sacred by the Bishnois.

Lovers of animals and plant life

Bishnois are strong lovers of wild animals. It is because of their protection that in Bishnoi-dominated areas, deer and antelope (such as blue bulls, black bucks, chinkaras and chowsinghas) are seen grazing peacefully in their fields despite the fact that the State of Rajasthan where the Bishnois mainly live, faces severe water shortages.

In recent years, the Bishnoi community has launched strong protests against the killing of black bucks by Salman Khan, a Bollywood film star and Mansur Ali Khan of Pataudi, a former Indian cricketer. Noted chartered accountant and social activist Mangilal Bishnoi led the demonstration against actor Salman Khan in Mumbai. In New Delhi, Mr. Sharvan Bishnoi(sharan) given the notice to Menaka Gandhi, Salman Khan was convicted on the evidence of Bishnoi witnesses.

Amrita Devi and the Khejarli Massacre

On a Tuesday (the 10th day of the month of Bhadrapad, according to the Indian lunar calendar, in 1730 AD, Amrita Devi, a Bishnoi woman was at her home with her three daughters, Asu, Ratni and Bhagu bai, when she learned that a number of people had descended on their otherwise sleepy village of Khejarli, named after “Khejri” (Prosopis cineraria) trees, found in abundance in the village. The people were a party of men sent by Maharaja Abhay Singh, the ruler of the kingdom of Jodhpur, in the Marwar region; their mission was to fell green Khejri trees to burn lime for the construction of the Maharaja’s new palace and there was a lot of greenery in the Bishnoi villages even in the middle of the Thar Desert.

Amrita Devi protested against the Maharaja’s men who were attempting to cut green trees as it was prohibited according to Bishnoi principles. The malevolent feudal party told her that if she wanted the trees to be spared, she would have to give them money as a bribe. She refused to acknowledge this demand and told them that she would consider it an act of insult to her religious faith and would rather give her life to save the green trees. At that point she spoke these words:

Sar santey rookh rahe to bhi sasto jaan
(If a tree is saved even at the cost of one’s head, it’s worth it)

Having said these words she offered her head. The axes, which were brought to cut the trees, severed her head. The three young girls Asu, Ratni and Bhagu were not daunted, and offered their heads too.

The news spread like wildfire. The Bishnois of Khejarli gathered and sent summons to their counterparts in eighty-three Bishnoi villages in the vicinity to come and decide on the next course of action. Since the supreme sacrifice by Amrita Devi and her daughters had not satisfied the royal party, and the felling of green trees was continued, it was decided that for every green tree to be cut, one Bishnoi volunteer would sacrifice his/her life. In the beginning, old people voluntarily started holding the trees to be cut in an embrace (as in the 20th century Chipko Movement).

Despite many valiant old persons sacrificing themselves, the Hakim (the royal party’s leader), Girdhar Das Bhandari, taunted the Bishnois that they were offering unwanted old persons. Soon, young men and women (including the recently married) and children were sacrificing themselves in a similar manner.

There was pandemonium. The tree-felling party was badly shaken. With their mission unfulfilled, they left for Jodhpur to relay these events to the Maharaja. As soon as he learned about it, he ordered the felling of trees to be stopped.

By that time, three hundred and sixty three (363) Bishnois had already become martyrs.

Honouring the courage of the Bishnoi community, Maharaja Abhay Singh apologised for the mistake committed by his officials and issued a royal decree, engraved on a copper plate ordering the following:

All cutting of green trees and hunting of animals within the revenue boundaries of Bishnoi villages was strictly prohibited.

It was also ordered that if by mistake any individual violated this order, he would be prosecuted by the state and a severe penalty imposed.

Even members of the ruling family would not shoot animals in or near Bishnoi villages.

Trivia

Bishnois are known to be very violent and aggressive in protecting trees and wildlife. It is said that if you are a hunter, then the worst thing that could happen to you is to be caught hunting by a Bishnoi.

Unlike most Hindu communities, Bishnois bury their dead instead of cremating them. This is because of the strict prohibition on the felling of trees, the wood of which is required for cremation.

In October, 1996, Nihal Chand Bishnoi sacrificed his life for protecting wild animals. A film, Willing to Sacrifice, based on his story won the award for the Best Environment Film at the 5th International Festival of Films, TV and Video Programmes held at Bratislava, Slovakia.

A, si inca ceva, reportaje si transmisii in direct despre numărul wc-urile jurnaliştilor acreditaţi si despre condiţiile in care isi fac ingrata meserie.

Of, of, mai, mai…

” Contextul aici.

Who get’s more entertainment from traditional means like the TV or movies than on the Internet? I’d like to know because I entertain myself on my iphone and macbook pro. The video was filmed in the back seat of a taxi car on my way to film Pop17 at a conference.

I attended the Digital Hollywood Media Summit conference here in New York City yesterday and interviewed some leading industry professionals for Pop17. You may watch the video I made at Pop17 where I not only have the video available in flash, but also in wmv, mov, m4v, and 3gp. If you are reading this on RSS I promise you can watch the video where ever you are by going here.

FYI: I’m working on getting distributed on YouTube and iTunes at the moment.

Thanks for all the awesome feedback from this video so far. I’ll be updating your responses in this blog post so why don’t you tell me your response in the comments.

This is the types of Entertainment We Love:

Hi Sarah,

I would like to say that I 500% agree with you. Since I have a wifi connection and my macbook, I did not watch tv anymore. Internet is incredible universe, with so much information. I am a information addict but my job cannot offer me so much time to be online 25 hours a day…

I think that Internet change our life and is open an new universe and it is just the beginning. I am exciting to discover the internet future, great opportunities.

Continue pop17, great and sometimes I post your video on my French blog.

Arno
_________

Thanks for embedding my videos on your French blog! I use the 3g network to surf mobile because EDGE on my iphone is so slow. Sometimes I’ll browse on EDGE, but mostly just to comment on Pop17 and other blogs.

_________

Hi Sarah,

I’m not sure I really love the Internet but I do spend a LOT of time on it.
I’m curious why you want to be emailed by random viewers like me. I’ve
noticed before that you asked for email and it intrigues me. Do people
respond by email at all?

cheers,
David

_________

Random viewers like you are the ones that make everything I do online worth it. It’s a lot of work to write back to emails, but I find it a great way to interact and participate with my audience. Thanks for watching!!!!

_________

Hi Sarah its MacBookGuy91 here yes i love the internet i spend most
of my time on the internet. I do watch a few movies and when i go to
bed i have the tv on all night but i am a sleep so i guess my physical
mind is not watching it but like my body or something is watching it
because someone turns off that tv and i wake up a bit later. But to
answer your question yes i love the internet theirs so much to do i
learn so much and there lots of stuff on it but its not all good it
depends what you do. Well the most use from my macbook is the Internet,
but i still do other fun stuff on my computer. I am still planning on
getting a MacBook Air. Have a great day.
