Finally, it’s summer — the time you once spent hanging out with friends, riding bikes, and playing outside. It wasn’t too long ago that kids who spent their summers indoors (like Scott Smalls of The Sandlot) were considered “eggheads” and “squares,” who were eventually forced outside to make friends. Now, more kids have a Wii than a baseball glove, and they can “connect” with friends without ever leaving their iPads.

This summer, reclaim the days of baseball and skateboards for your kids with a getaway to Park City. Watch street performers and dance to live music outside at the Park Silly Sunday Market, or go fly fishing on the Provo River. You can even try a hot air balloon ride, or watch an outdoor film screening with a picnic.

These 5 mountain homes offer the amenities, space and location to let you enjoy all that Park City has to offer — no WiFi required:

816 Woodside

This newly constructed 5-bedroom cottage sits less than a block from Main Street for easy walking access to dining, theater, galleries and trails. Kids can walk to the nearby skateboard park as well as to City Park for basketball, tennis, baseball and volleyball. The home features a hot tub, gourmet kitchen and spacious bedrooms with private baths.

Black Diamond Lodge

This 3-bedroom condo overlooks Deer Valley’s Snow Park Amphitheater, giving guests a front row seat to concerts. Trail access is just out the door for mountain biking and hiking, and City Park is a 2-mile bike ride away. This condo features an outdoor balcony with hot tub and gourmet kitchen with separate dining room for summer family dinners.

2350 Red Pine

This 6-bedroom mountain home is a short distance from the Canyons Resort gondola, where lift-served mountain biking, hiking, discgolf and many other adventures await. The resort offers kids’ camps, Zip Line rides, a family miniature golf course and even pedal boats. Twice this summer, Sundance Insitute will host complimentary screenings of prior years’ films at the Resort Village.

435 Park Ave.

Located a block from Main Street, this 4-bedroom home lets kids walk or ride their bikes to parks, shops, the Park City Library and other hangouts. Every Sunday, the Park Silly Sunday Market brings kids’ activities, food and live music to Lower Main Street for a lively scene right next to the home.

Silver Star at Park City

This collection of condos and stand-alone cottages is nestled mid-mountain at Park City Mountain Resort. An outdoor swimming pool gives kids a place to cool off during the day, and s’more-worthy fire pits give them a place to warm up at night. Every week, the Silver Star Cafe hosts live music and dancing on the Silver Star Plaza.

This time of year in Park City you often hear, “I moved to Park City for the winter but decided to stay because of the summer.” Summer is a fabulous time in Park City with cool mountain days, live music, restaurant discounts, food and wine festivals, farmers markets, gallery strolls, and much more.

This blog was created to be a resource for you. You might be a past guest of Silver Lake Accommodations, or maybe you’ve never even visited Park City. Either way, we hope that you will be inspired to come visit the beautiful mountain town of Park City.

Outdoor activities govern the life of most Parkites and visitors of Park City this time of year. People are dusting off their mountain bikes and breaking in their climbing shoes for the intense mountain sports that are offered around the area. If you’re visiting Park City, there are many places to rent bikes to take on a casual stroll around the town or more adventurous terrain in the mountains. We recommend renting bikes from Cole Sport and Jans.

If you’re wanting a more relaxed activity to enjoy this summer, I highly recommend attending a Deer Valley summer concert. Imagine this, sitting on a blanket with a picnic basket full of gourmet foods, wine glass in hand, listening to the tunes of the Eagles performed by the Utah Symphony and Opera. The Deer Valley Music Festival is an event that people from all over the nation come to enjoy, as well as locals and the folks around Salt Lake.

If concerts and outdoor activities aren’t enough, the great flavors of Park City restaurants will get anyone excited. Many Park City restaurants have summer discounts and seasonal specials. There are also a few great food events over the summer like the Food and Wine Classic, where local foods are paired with some of the best wines around the world, and Savor the Summit, where a dining table the length of Main Street gets set up featuring the best foods of the area.

I hope this incites you to experience more of the great things offered around Park City this summer. Stay tuned for more detailed information on summer events. And if you need a place to stay, there’s always a friendly face and luxury space awaiting you at Silver Lake Accommodations.
