My goal is to show my audience how great of a city Chicago is. The city has been my home for 14 years and has so many great opportunities and fun things to do that a lot of people who live there aren’t even fully aware of! This is an important goal because Chicago is great place for people to visit, especially this summer, and my website may persuade people to pay the city a visit. Additionally, a lot of Miami students actually end up moving to Chicago after graduation. This website may interest juniors and seniors looking for jobs to try to look in Chicago.

While my pages are still a work in progress, I’ve broken down the summertime in Chicago into several pages: Food, events, fun facts, sports and places to see. Within each page, I plan to provide pictures (some of my own and some from online) that correspond with what I’m talking about. For example, on the food page, I’ll talk about Chicago style hotdogs, provide a picture of a typical one and also a link to the specific restaurant that I’m talking about. That will provide people with location, hours and other information about the restaurant that they may be curious about.

My organizational pattern is just basically with each page. There is one main page called summertime Chicago which will give a basic background of my website, what you can expect to find, where to find things and why I made the website. From there the other pages aren’t in any certain order, they’re just all at the top of the screen so my audience can click on whatever topic they’re interested in. For example, if you live in Chicago and are looking to try out some new food, you can just click the tab that says “Chicago Style Food.” That’s easier than sorting through a lot of other information that you may not be interested in. I like the layout with the different pages because I think it makes the website very easy to navigate and cohesive.

Like I mentioned earlier, each graphic will be directly correlated with each different topic I’m discussing. My graphics at this point are primarily pictures. An example of my graphics includes pictures of the Cub’s stadium, White Sox’s stadium, fans in the crowd for my Chicago Sports page. Each graphic should bring my text to life and further highlight my points that I’m trying to make in the text.

If I had more time, I think it would be really cool to create my own video to incorporate into my website. I could be a slideshow of pictures and maybe some people from Chicago talking about why they love it so much. I think that videos are a really effective way that you can spread awareness about something because they’re usually more entertaining than reading text. I know for me at least, I would rather watch a video about something than read about it. I didn’t have any major challenges with my website other than minor technology related ones. Overall it was a lot of fun to make and I hope that my audience enjoys it!
