Lotsa red in them covers, huh?  This week, EJ, Alex, and John talk about Deadpool #4, Robin #180, and Amazing Spider-Man #578.  John vents his anger about starting the show late due to internet failure but is quickly distracted by news about a new X-men film, updates from the set of KICK-ASS, camouflage pants (yeah…), and of course… hot women in comics.

I’ve never seen the point in professional sports. I don’t understand the need to pay adults to play games, while people watch. I don’t understand the value we place on entertainers, in general.

I live in New England, and we have some great sports teams at this point in history. The Red Sox have won a couple World Series (which how can it be the World when it’s only played in the US, but I digress), the Patriots have won something like 4 or 5 Super Bowls in the past few years, and it appears that the Celtics are “making us proud”. Well, good for them, and I guess for their fans who pay ridiculous amounts of money on admission, and merchandise, to be “part of the team”, and thus earn the right to say “We won”.

Not good for anyone who wanted to go anywhere in Boston today. We had a follow up appointment for the baby’s hands at Shriner’s and I couldn’t get a single Police officer to help us get to the hospital, which was surrounded by road blocks. We drove around, wasting gas for over an hour due to the nonsense, being told “Well the Celt’s won the Championship so we’re all celebrating with a parade” by every cop I asked to help me. Give me a stinkin’ break. As frustrated as I was, I really felt for the poor soul who was riding in the Ambulance that sat in traffic, in front of us, for over 10 minutes because no one could get out of their way due to all the people dressed in green blocking roads and clogging sidewalks.

Today has been littered with frustration and nerve wracking driving events. I’m glad to be home with my family, my dog and my chickens.

Our daughter decided, when she was getting dressed this morning, that she wanted to wear a cape that my husband’s mom made him when he was a kid. We are all for letting her do her own thing, when it’s perfectly harmless, and I think that being a little girl is all the more fun when you can dress up. She wore that cape all day. We had 15 diaper changes and every time we asked if she wanted her cape on, and each time she enthusiastically exclaimed that she did. This brought a smile to my face amidst the rest of the day…

Finally, I promised a peek at my beads, no matter how the came out. I was just fiddling around with the words and how to make the letters stand out with color accents that don’t effect the letters themselves. I’m liking the dots and I have some other things I want to explore, now that I’m making more of an effort to get out to the studio.

Les créateurs de l’expo ont répertorié huit catégories dans lesquelles ils ont rangé nos super-héros favoris :

1. le corps graphique : Superman et Spider-Man dont le costume symbolise les pouvoirs ;
2. le corps patriotique : Wonder Woman et Captain America portent les couleurs de la bannière étoilée ;
3. le corps viril : Hulk et la Chose, musclés et torses nus ;
4. le corps paradoxal : Catwoman, tiraillée entre gentille et méchante, entre féminisme et chosification fétichiste ;
5. le corps en armure : avec Iron Man, le super-héros apprend à mettre autre chose que des collants pour combattre le crime et le Batman de Frank Miller l’imite dans The Dark Knight Returns ;
6. le corps aérodynamique : les créateurs de maillot de bain de chez Arena ou Speedo ont tou piqué à la tenue moulante de Flash, l’éclair écarlate ;
7. le corps mutant : l’imagerie des X-Men fait des émules dans la haute couture ;
8. le corps postmoderne : les super-héros sombres et avec lesquels il faut pas déconner, comme le Punisseur ou le Motard Fantôme.
