Sim, o encanador mais querido do mundo está de volta em toda sua glória 2D! O jogo se chama New Super Mario Bros. Wii e é um prato cheio para os gamers nostálgicos, trazendo de volta a essência do Clássico de 1991. (nota do redator: a grafia é proposital, Super Mario World é um clássico com “C” maiúsculo mesmo!)

O jogo já está à venda e trás de volta Mario da maneira como fez história: em 2D, correndo e pulando para a direita e para a esquerda atravessando níveis cheios de plataformas e moedas. Há algumas adições, como o uso ocasional do movimento do Wiimote e elementos novos como a flor do gelo. Ainda assim, o jogo mantém o espírito do original e as adições, segundo quem já jogou, tornam a experiência mais divertida sem destruir um clássico.

Talvez a maior inovação nessa nova encarnação do Mario seja a possibilidade de jogar com até quatro jogadores simultaneamente. O modo multiplayer funciona bem e traz uma nova abordagem aos níveis do jogo, já que ter mais jogadores pode tanto ajudar e abrir novas possibilidades (pulando na cabeça de outro para alcançar um lugar mais alto, por exemplo) como atrapalhar, se alguém começar a ficar no caminho e não souber trabalhar em equipe.

A maior falha sendo apontada é a ausência de um modo multiplayer online, especialmente pela nova experiência com quatro jogadores ter sido considerada tão divertida. De um modo geral, isso reflete a abordagem da Nintendo quanto ao jogo como um todo: apostar no seguro, naquilo que já está testado e aprovado, sem mexer muito com o “time” que está ganhando há anos.

Super Mario Bros. Wii é, em suma, uma nova e divertida versão da experiência que já divertiu e diverte até hoje muita gente (eu ainda jogo Super Mario World de vez em quando, e aposto que estou longe de estar sozinho). Ele aposta na diversão de levar o bigodudo através de níveis de plataforma no melhor estilo side-scroller 2D, sem querer reinventar a roda. This has got to be the weirdest and definitly most awsome musical instrument I’ve seen in a while. I usually don’t have an musical instrument fetish, but this one totally stole my heart. I know little about it, other than it’s called a theremin, and that it uses radio waves going through the device and through you body. Obviously you can manipulate the pitch by changing your arms’ distance from the theremin.

I guess this is what they used to make that horribly awsome, yet horribly cliché UFO sound effect from all those low budget thirties science fiction films.

If I were to teach myself one really useless piece of know-how for the rest of my life, it would have to be to learn how to play the theremin. And I want to learn how to play these songs.

Oui vous avez vu je fais la grève des titres farfelus. Parce que.
En fait c’est juste une bonne excuse au fait que j’ai pas grand-chose à raconter, mais j’avais pas non plus envie de regarder Donnie Darko à la télé (parce que je sais pas vous mais franchement, je le trouve bien naze ce film). Et sortir le soir je trouve ça has been. Il y a 10 ans j’étais tout le temps dehors j’ai fait des réserves pour les décennies à venir. Maintenant je suis tout le temps dedans.

Et puis j’avais vraiment envie de mettre cette recette.
Parce que les pommes cuites c’est un de mes trucs préférés de l’hiver seulement voilà l’hiver il fait un peu la tronche en ce moment. Moi ce que j’aime c’est quand il fait moins 10 et qu’il y a de la neige, ou un beau ciel bleu mais un froid à vous geler les orteils, et à mettre un bonnet rouge. Et j’ai pas encore pu le mettre une seule fois mon bonnet rouge parce qu’il fait presque 20 degrés, fin novembre ! Non mais où va le monde ma bonne dame où va le monde ?
Vous allez me dire mais c’est pas encore l’hiver oui mais ici, d’habitude, fin novembre, C’EST l’hiver, ça pèle sa grand mère et on met des pulls des écharpes des bonnets tout ça !
Du coup je cuis des pommes, plein plein de pommes, et je ferme le gros rideau rouge pour imaginer que derrière c’est la Laponie au mois de janvier.

Pour un petit repas à deux sous la couette : 3 pommes (la variété que vous préférez), 2 pavés de saumon frais, 25g de beurre, quelques brin d’aneth fraiche, 2 grosses pincées de fleur de sel.

Epluchez et épépinez les pommes, coupez-les en tranches d’un demi-centimètre d’épaisseur environ.
Faites fondre le beurre dans une poêle et ajoutez les pommes. Cuire un bon quart d’heure à feu moyen en retournant les tranches régulièrement, elles doivent être souples et bien dorées. Ajoutez l’aneth à mi-cuisson.
Faites cuire les pavés de saumon (enlevez la peau avant) dans la même poêle, à côté des pommes, quelques minutes avant de servir. Ils doivent être tout juste cuits pour garder leur fondant. Vous pouvez aussi ne les cuire que d’un côté (à l’unilatérale).
Servez le saumon sur les pommes et saupoudrez de fleur de sel.

Sinon il y a le nouveau Shaun White, pour voir de la neige toute la journée. Mais c’est un peu compliqué, j’ai toujours mes vieux réflexes de SSX3 et SSX On Tour sur PS2, et euh… quand on est habitué à la bonne vieille manette on sait pas trop quoi faire de cette télécommande bizarre, en plus elle est lourde ça donne des crampes au bras…

Oh et puis demain, il y a le nouveau Mario. Rien à voir vous allez me dire mais si ! Il y a de la neige aussi !

I recently had the privilege of playing “New Super Mario Brothers Wii” and I must say, it was one of the most fun games I have played in a long time.  Now, I don’t have much Mario experience outside of the Nintendo and Super NES versions of Mario games.  But, playing this game was a bit of nostalgia for me, as I’m sure it was for many people, and that is where the excitement and pleasure come from playing the game.

“New Super Mario Brothers Wii” resembles the older Nintendo versions of Mario all rolled up into a more modern type.  Like all the others, the Wii version is comprised of different worlds, from Sand Land to Wintry Wonderland (don’t know what their technical titles are, but you know what I’m talking about if you’re a Mario lover).  Levels exist underwater or high atop the mushrooms.  And, the video game utilizes the familiar 2-D platform that the first versions originally used.  Each world finishes with the Castle level, where a member of King Koopa’s army is waiting at the end, guarding the Princess from Mario.  All of these older elements are enough to suck me into playing the game for hours on end.

However, it is the mixture of older elements and newer elements which make this game a fantastic buy.  For example, instead of the feather power-up, the newer version has introduced the propeller suit.  While wearing the suit, when the player shakes the Wii controller, Mario is then shot into the sky, giving him the ability to reach secret landings where coins are more than abundant.  Instead of the frog suit, now Mario has the penguin suit, which is sweet beyond belief.  Yoshi has made his return to Mario, this time in different colors with abilities to swallow enemies, items and even balls of fire.  Other power-ups include the Mega Mushroom, the Mini Mushroom, and the Koopa Shell, all which boost secret powers of busting through anything in the level, floating and running on water, and smashing through enemies like Koopa shell.  Finally, and probably one of the most exciting new features of the game, is the multiplayer mode.  Now, up to four people can play a level at a time, either to cooperate with each other and help one another reach new heights and stay safe from danger, or to compete with each other for coin supremacy and toss them into the pits of despair.

“New Super Mario Brothers Wii” gives gamers all of the great elements of past Mario games in addition to the newer capabilities that the Wii system has to offer.  For Mario lovers (and all lovers of old school Nintendo games) “New Super Mario Brothers Wii” is a definite buy.  Here’s a trailer video of the game.  If seeing the greatness that is “New Super Mario Brothers Wii” doesn’t convince you, I don’t know what will.

ang isa sa pinakiinis kong bagay ay ang oras, una, dahil palagi akong nalalate na ayaw kong mangyari, pangalawa, hindi ko na mababalik ang mga oras na nasayang..kung ako na lang sana si superman edi inikutan ko na ang earth at pinaikot pabalik pero hindi eh, im just simply eagleman..^_^..at bakit gusto kong ibalik ang oras na nasayang? marami akong regrets ngayon..bago ako nagsulat ay umiiyak ako..hindi ko mapigilan..sobrang depressed ako dahil sa mga bagay na sana ay makakamit ko na nagyon..ang mga teachers at mga magulang ko, disappointed, pero tanong ko lang, ang pagiging valedictorian ba ay sign ng pagiging magaling at matalinong tao? hindi, hinding-hindi, dahil ito lang ay isang karangalan..at ang nabuo sa isipan ko ay isa lang..ang karangalan na magkaroon ng isang natatanging pag-ibig at galing pa sa BRO ko..tingnan mo, pinarangalan niya ko sa mga bagay na ginawa kong mabuti..isipin mo na lang , palagi ka niyang sinasagot, minasn lang ay sinasagot ka lang niya ng”NO COMMENT” o “NO” dahil hindi pa time at may mas maganda pang bagay na matatamo mo..at iyon nga, sa dami ng pinagdaaanang prioblema ko, hanggang ngayon, nakakapit pa rin ako sa kaisa-isa kong pag-ibig..ayan, natututo kami ng mga bagay na magpapatatag sa amin..at ang mga bagay na iyon? beautiful dahil mas marami kang matututunan kung ano talaga ang buhay at masasabi mong, mas nagiging tao ka..wala akong sinasabing hayop ka dati..at strange? dahil ibang kaalamn iyon, bago..especially sa mga batang katulad namin..experiences aren’t big things..but, they are millions of little things..^_^

iyong dalawang line na lang ang ihahambing ko sa buhay ni kurikong, ay ni sarimau pala..iyon oh, may tears..lalo akong naiiyak sa mga line sna iyan..pero, kanina iyon..ang mag lalaki ay hindi pwedeng umiyak? hindi po totoo iyon..wag kayong makikinig sa mga hearsay..talaga lang may pakpak ang balita at may tainga ang lupa..pero, ang mga lalaki, dahil sa kinikimkim nila ang galit at lungkot sa dibdib nila ay mas maaga silang namamatay..siyempre, stressed ang katawan, puso, isip at pati utak mo..total destruction ng iyong bodily parts..sabog ang ulirat mo..pero, pag natuto kayong yumiyak kahit minsan, huwag lang sa babae, basta sa mga problema, mas magiging magaan ang pakiramdam niyo..bading? hindi, may rule ba ang mga bading na kapag ang mga lalaki ay bading na? sa kanila mo tanungin, ok lang iyon..we are just equal..at kahit ano pa mang kasarian, kahit sino, pwedeng gawin ang mga bagay na gusto niya..remember: we have our own rights and privileges..medyo nalalayo, haha..basta, ang masasabi ko lang, sa tuwing kasam ko siya at mabigat ang pakiramdam ko, i want to cry in front of her..di lang talaga lumalabas dahil sa pagiging wrong timing pero i crave to do that..at, isa pa, isa sa pinaka-kilig moments ay ang mga mata niya..para bang masasabi ko ang kataga ni badoodles na “see the world through my eyes..” but in this case, in her eyes..^_^

haaay..lumulungkot lalo ang lyrics ah..haaay..yes, ther are line upon my face, and this are tears again..may mga oras na nasasaktan din ko, hindi ko alam kung bakit..may mag bagay na hindi ko matake..bukod sa mga selos na nararamdaman ng mga kabataan, basta, walang kulay ang nararamdaman mo kapag hindi mo ito nararamdaman..just think of it as a painting..makulay ang pag-ibig mo pero, kung hindi mo siya hahaluan ng kaunting tubig para magawa ang mga desired na kulay na gusto mo, never mong magagawa ang masterpiece na iyon..tulad ng lapis, may pambura..may ups and downs tulad ng gulong, basta may pros and cons, it is just the reality of life..^_^..long time of smiles..hmm..sobrang dami ng memories na kapag pinagdugtung-dugtong mo ang mga oras at panahon na nakangiti kami at nakatingin sa isa’t isa, hmm, baka mangalay na ang aming mga panga at magaya sa nangyari sa babae sa pelikulang MIRRORS..XD..embrace? that’s my yamashita..oh kaya naman national ko din iyon..yamashita and national treasure..(para wala ng makalampas sa kahalagahan..^_^)..wine? sarap noon..^_^

New Super Mario Bros. Wii Review

In 1985 a game launched on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), a game that would create a legacy and change gaming forever. It was simple, yet challenging and most of all, fun. You controlled the character Mario through a series of levels plagued with mushrooms, flying turtles and some hectic platforming. Since that game Mario has been in a number of adventures, most recent have been in the 3D realm. What New Super Mario Bros. Wii does is amazing, it takes the formula of that very first Mario adventure, brings in ideas from all of his subsequent quests, and adds in enough new to make this formula not only reek of nostalgia, but feel fresh at the same time. The question is, will this game reach out to a new generation of Mario gamers, or does it only appeal to those veterans who are drawn in by the nostalgia factor? Let’s find out…

New Super Mario Bros (NSMB) is a return to a 2D platform as we run and jump our ways from the start of a level to the flag, taking out a multitude of familiar foes out along the way with a few new surprises to keep the player on their toes. It’s the simplicity of the goal, get from point A to point B that makes this game instantly accessible to any player, it’s objective is so simple that Grandma could sit down and have an idea of how to complete the objective. Accessible doesn’t mean easy, NSMB does it’s best to keep you challenged, right to the end of its 8 worlds.

Due to the games difficulty, and more notably, to keep a level playing field for those new to the series, Nintendo have hatched a new idea called the “Super Guide”. If you have died eight times on a level, next time you load it up a Green “!” box will appear. Hit this box and you will be able to watch Luigi strut his stuff through the level, effectively showing you how to complete the part you keep dying on. It’s a great feature for those who are new to the series, but veterans will most likely steer clear from it all together. It’s not forced upon the player, which means it’s your own choice to use it.

Where NSMB truly shines is the intergration of multiplayer which has the potential to cause friendships to end, family quarrels and bring out your inner jerk in the best kind of way. Each player controls a character as you make your way through the main game, either helping each other out, or competing for overall supremacy. There are sections where co-operation is paramount, utilizing features such as the grab and lift mechanic, effectively lifting a fellow player onto your shoulders, and the ability to throw them towards that hard to reach power-up, or a lava pit to teach them a lesson, whichever may apply to the situation. There is no better feeling than having a friend betray you, only for you to get a lucky wall jump to save yourself and you get a chance to exact revenge. This is some of the best fun you’ll have on your Wii, period.

The four characters on offer are Mario, Luigi or Toad (blue or yellow) which is a little disappointing. All four characters have the same abilities, yet it can be confusing if both toads grab an invincibility star as they flash the same multicolored pattern. Overall the dynamic works well. If one player dies they re-appear in a floating bubble and will re-join the game when another player tags them in. If all four players manage to die at the same time, sorry lads but you’ll need to restart the level. It’s a great way to bring tensions up, especially in those ultra-hard stages and you all have hardly any lives left.

For those of you who are veterans to the 1985 classic you should feel right at home when it comes to the control scheme of NSMB. Holding the Wii remote sideways and using the 1, 2 and D-Pad for the majority of the gameplay mechanics, with a few waggle motions to make it fill the Wii game obligations. A small shake of the remote will have your character pull of a spin-jump, which is handy when equipped with a Flower power-up as it will shoot out in opposite directions, potentially protecting you from incoming foes. The other motion control is a simple tilt action, used to swing platforms and tilt cannons used within the game. They integrate into the gameplay well and don’t cause any issues.

I’m sure many gamers reading this could attest that level design in each Mario adventure has been paramount to the series success. NSMB is no exception, featuring eight worlds bursting with creativity. Each level is carefully plotted, and later levels will have you studying the environment to work out a safe passage to the end goal. It can be a split second gap that will save your life, and while you may go red in the face and clench that controller just a little too tight until you get it, the feeling of completion is a reward unto itself.

For those completionists out there NSMB features plenty of side challenges to keep you busy. Red Coins and Star coins need to be collected, Kidnapped Toads need to be saved and carried safely to the goal in some levels, and a bunch of cannons can be unlocked to shoot you to new worlds. You will be playing each level over and over again to collect everything, which is exactly what you are looking for in a Mario title.

With the addition of the already hectic four player multiplayer comes new game modes. Foot Race breathes destruction as you race across open levels, free from the time constraints of the normal game. Coin Battles pit players against each other on one screen with a series of enemies. The player with the most coins at the end wins.

This is where Nintendo should have capitalised on the potential for rivalries, whether it be the implementation of leaderboards online, or even just a ladder that stays on the home console. Once the game has ended and you want to tell your friends about your epic win, there is no proof on the console. Such a simple concept could increase the longevity of these gameplay modes, yet it is yet another opportunity missed by the developers.

Going back to the games roots, the graphics are a fantastic blend of 3D Characters, retro sprites, scrolling backgrounds creating a feeling of Super Mario World that was released on the SNES with some 3D character modeling. It very rarely departs from this presentation model, and it’s a good thing it doesn’t as the 2D playing field really makes this game feel fresh.

The soundtrack for NSMB is a perfect mix of old school and re-vamped tunes, bringing in waves of nostalgia as you hum along to familiar tunes from your childhood. The sound effects are back, with power-ups and such chiming through the Wii remote speaker which is a nice touch.

The Final Verdict

Is New Super Mario Bros. Wii the greatest Mario title to date? That’s a decision you need to make for yourself, but the fact that it’s debatable is a true testament to just how good this new addition is. Bringing in the best of series, going back to the original form as a 2D platformer, and throwing in four player mayhem brings Mario and his adventures to a whole new level. The most important ingredient is fun, and no matter who you are, you will undoubtedly have a bunch of fun with this title. Nintendo have just proven again that they are the masters of creating a game to suit a large age group.


GAMEPLAY: 9.5/10: Not much could be improved, but at times tighter controls would make things easier.

GRAPHICS: 9.8/10: The game looks gorgeous and is a perfect fit for the game.

AUDIO: 9.5/10: A perfect mix of re-vamped tunes with new twists and great sound effects

VALUE: 9.0/10: Completionists will be busy for a long time, but would have been nice to have some online
 features or some sort of scoreboard for competitive play.

Final de ano, pilha de responsabilidades, avalanche de jogos, panetone, luzes de natal e o simpático calor do verão.

Junto com tudo isso, vai findando a lista de games mais esperados por estes Toperas que vos escrevem. De minha parte, hoje saiu o penúltimo game mais hypado, vulgo Assassin’s Creed II. O outro é o tal do Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Crystal Bearers, que já saiu no Japão e só dia 26 de dezembro dá as caras aqui no ocidente.

Não bastasse toda a expectativa que eu já estava pela nova produção da Ubisoft, os caras ainda dão um jeitinho sutil de embarcar na fama e glória do Super Mario – que mal está de ego inflado também pelo New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Em certo ponto da jornada, o herói Ezio reencontra com o tio, que protagoniza a hilária cena do vídeo logo acima.

Penso eu na origem da homenagem: o tio Super Mario está por aí há tanto tempo – míseros 25 anos – que muito provavelmente os game designers de hoje em dia são a molecada que lá atrás já curtia os games do encanador.
