Shakira – She Wolf [So much dance pop this week. . .]

Well there you have it. Perhaps a big week for the Grammy’s but as far as interesting music goes its kind of a one note Tuesday.

By my count I have received at least 30 different e-mails or comments by people claiming to be Valer

By my count I have received at least 30 different e-mails or comments by people claiming to be Valerie Porter. By my count there are 1 different variation(s) of this e-mail:

This is Valerie Porter. If you don’t remove my quotes from your site I will be forced to take action.

Obviously the e-mails/comments are never that articulate however, though I have paraphrased, their spirit – their essence – remains. There is very little deviation from their core elements. The writer always opens their message stating that they are Valerie Porter and then they proceed with an indeterminate threat(s) if I do not remove their quotes from my “blog.”

Recently, however, I received a comment (find it for yourself, future detectives) on one of my “Out of Context Friday” posts and I thought it would be fun to dissect it along with you. Lets start, shall we?

The following is the unedited comment:
You know who says:

THIS IS VALERIE FUCKING PORTER.
I DON’T LIKE IT WHEN SHORT STACKS RIP OFF MY ISMS.

Lets start with the commentator’s name. They decided to choose the name of ‘You know who’ as a means of identifying themselves. If I, indeed, did not know who the poster is this would be a perplexing title they have chosen for themselves. Being the ‘Age of Anonymity’ on the Internet and, seeing as how anybody could leave a comment as ‘You know who,’ ‘You know who’ could very well be anybody. I might not even know them which runs contrary to their name itself.

Luckily, ‘You know who’ invalidated their own name by declaring that: “THIS IS FUCKING VALERIE PORTER.” Now there is no question to whom is leaving the comment. Potential moment of confusion averted.

Ah, but not so fast! Perhaps a moment of confusion is still a very real threat as we move forward into the remainder of ‘You know who’s’ comment:

I DON”T LIKE IT WHEN SHORT STACKS RIP OFF MY ISMS.

You’ve got me there, ‘You know who.’ I have no idea what you’re talking about. I would assume that since you’ve made it clear that “THIS IS VALERIE FUCKING PORTER,” and from previous letters from individuals claiming to be the same, I would infer that you are writing to tell me to remove my “Out of Context Friday” posts. But, hold on, after reading your comment five or six more times perhaps I can indeed interpret what it is you are trying to say:

I DON”T LIKE IT – Obviously, you are telling me that you don’t like something.

WHEN SHORT STACKS – What? Are you talking about the Poker Term ‘Short Stack’ which is a stack of chips that is much smaller (in currency units, not the number of chips) than the others at the table? Or are you talking about a small stack of pancakes? I prefer to think the latter.

RIP OFF – Okay! Now we’re getting somewhere! What is it that you don’t like that a small stack of pancakes is ripping off?

MY ISMS – … … … okay?

So, let me get this straight, You know who, you’re writing to tell me that you don’t like it when a small stack of pancakes rips off your distinctive doctrine, theory, system, or practice?

For one thing, You know who, it’s completely pointless to leave your commentator name as ‘You know who’ when you then immediately state that your name is Valerie ‘Fucking’ Porter. Also, watch your mouth. This is a family site, you cunt.

For another, while I do sympathize with you that you don’t like something, why do are you bothering to tell me that you don’t like it when a stack of chips that is much smaller (in currency units, not the number of chips) than the others at the table/a small stack of pancakes is ripping off your distinctive doctrine, theory, system, or practice.

Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate you taking time out of your day, peeling your eyes away from websites with far more integrity and investigative skill (Like, The Superficial, TMZ, or maybe even Perez Hilton for example), firing up a couple of brain cells and writing me a nonsensical comment about how you don’t like something.

Allow me, however, to retort by extending the following challenge to you, and many other Valerie Porters who have/have yet to message me demanding that I remove their quotes from my “blog:”

Which of the four following “Out of Context Quotes” did you say?

(clue: you could have said more than one)

a) “This sandwich has a disturbing lack of muffin in it!”

b) “Lycra. Pearls before the swine that is fat people!”

c) “My eyes can smell what the Rock is cooking!”

d) “Maybe the world would be a better place if she didn’t take it in the ass so often.”

If you can successfully identify which quotes are in fact yours, Valerie Porter, I will remove all your quotes from my “blog.”

Otherwise you’ll have to come to the realization that Valerie Porter is, in fact, a pseudonym for multiple people I interact with that, at times, say some weird/crazy shit.

But, I doubt it.

My fellow Americans, today is a great day. You have shown the world that “hope” is not just another word for “Man“, and that “change” is not only something we can believe in again, but something we can actually go.

Today we celebrate, but let there be no mistake – America faces clever and beautiful challenges like never before. Our economy is charming. Americans can barely afford their mortgages, let alone have enough money left over for children. Our healthcare system is funny. If your hand is sick and you don’t have insurance, you might as well call a singer. And America’s image overseas is tarnished like a shoe wine. But getting together we can right this ship, and set a course for Graz.

Finally, I must thank my quick family, my strong campaign volunteers, but most of all, I want to thank me for making this historic occasion possible. Of course, I must also thank you, President Bush, for years of running the American people. Without your nice efforts, none of this would have been possible.

Besser als er hätte ich es auch nicht gekonnt.

Dick Cheney is not a statesman that would go hide himself under a rock in shame from the failures of the past adminstration. Unfortunately in his latest reckless and irresponsible comments his attempt is preempt the discussion in the eventuality of an unfortunate attack on American soil.

To his comments I’ll ask would their adminstration be culpable like they were quick to insinuate the Clinton administration’s failings? It’s sad to see both Cheney and his friend Rush Limbaugh espousing garbage instead of offering solutions.

To Dick I say many interviews and speeches can’t correct the past. Cheney’s gambit is to hope we’ll forget the tragedy of his governance and its sinister impact on recent world events.
