Well, for my American readers this is a very special day, it is Thanksgiving Day here in the States! So “when in Rome…” you see, I am for any holiday that promotes eating, having fun with family and watching sports, so for me, “Thanksgiving” or “Turkey Day” as it is more recently known, is kinda the perfect holiday for me. 

What most of you won’t realise (unless you are connected with my facebook) is that today is also the 4 year wedding anniversary of Chelsea and I’s “show wedding” (we got married twice, one to secure a UK visa for Chelsea and I so that family and friends could celebrate with us and take pictures and the like! Chelsea, I love you, you have the patience of a saint to deal with me on a daily basis! 

Like many US holidays (Christmas, 4^th July, Thanksgiving and Superbowl day) we get together as extended family, all of Chelsea’s brothers, their spouses, their families, my mother in law and basically all are invited, we are being blessed that Chelsea’s uncle is coming up from Orange with his wife also.   

So today, here’s to family, as I type this, my daughter is on my knee hitting random keys to help her daddy out, boy am I thankful for the help! She is the height of cuteness and all of her little ways make me love her more. 

And lastly, to the one who saw a real treasure in me when I was down scrambling around in the muck and the myre, who showed me true love, not by loving me, but re-introduced me to Christ, not by the words you said, but by who you are! My wife Chelsea, now that is something to be really thankful for!

Cette année pour le superbowl 2009 qui opposait les Cardinals au Steelers, plusieurs marques ont donc eux la chance de diffuser leur pub, dont Pepsi, Doritos, Pedigree, Coca, Mc Donald et bien d’autres. Parmi ces marques : AUDI, qui a fait sensation avec une publicité comparative mettant en scène le célèbre acteur Jason Statham, héros du film “Le Transporteur“, mais également “Braquage à l’anglaise” et bien d’autres encore. Dans cette publicité, on y voit Jason Statham sortant d’un braquage et essayant de s’enfuir en vain au volant d’un tas de voitures, jusqu’au moment où ‘il prend le volant de la Audi A6, grâce à laquelle il parvient à s’enfuir sans soucis. Je trouve cette publicité vraiment superbe en matière de publicité comparative, mais je trouve surtout que Audi, tout comme les autres marques ayant été présentes à cet événement, ont su profiter d’une telle occasion pour entretenir leur image. En effet, ce type d’évènements est une véritable opportunité pour les marques. Il est vraiment important pour celles ci d’y participer si elles en ont les moyens, vu le prix pour pouvoir être diffusé lors de la mi-temps. Cela fait partie de la stratégie pour se faire connaître et ne pas se faire oublier! Les grandes marques le savent! Même si cela coute cher, elles en tirent selon moi un bénéfice bien superieur au prix qu’elles y mettent, surtout si la publicité est réussie…

Houston will be playing on a short week and they have to get Chris Brown in the right mindset for this game. Houston has cashed eight straight as home dogs and won six of those eight SU, the only two losses at the hands of the Colts by a total of four points. The Colts have struggled within the division, dropping 14 of 21 ATS, while the Texans are 6-2 at Reliant Stadium versus AFC-South citizens. Indianapolis has won six of seven at Houston, but failed in five of seven ATS. Houston finally gets the win against the Colts.

I was at the airport this morning and I looked down at my feet and saw a black leather suitcase. Upon opening it I discovered a thick manuscript titled ‘Twilight 3: Scrappy-Doo Makes A Boo-Boo’. Obviously someone had made a huge mistake and left an item of great value behind.  However a quick skim and I found out that in a jealous rage Scrappy attacks Edward with a meat cleaver and then forces himself on to Bella. Now I thought this was odd as Scrappy, other than being an asexual minor, was in fact a fictional cartoon character. Would it be like when Paula Abdul danced with MC Skat Kat in the ‘Opposites Attract’ film clip? It just wouldn’t work. Surely this version was a clever decoy to keep the “Twihards” guessing. So I installed the latest copy of Microsoft Decoder on my laptop and proceeded to retype the whole script. A day later when I hit DECODE I was presented with ‘Twilight 3: Hot Runnings’. I noticed it was fairly similar to that Disney movie about the guys that form a Jamaican bobsled team, except this was set in Iceland and Edward, Bella, Jacob, Hitler and Gandalf form a relay team that hopes to compete in London 2012. Hilarity ensues when Gandalf realises he was in a superior movie trilogy and plots the deaths of his teammates. After succeeding he has a tea party with Jude Law and Bono. Ha! Nice try, I figured this was also a decoy script as there would be no way Gandalf would let this pass – he would not kill off Hitler and then dine with Bono.

Even though both decoys proved to be of a higher quality in comparison to Twilight 1 and 2, I was still sick of being stuffed around by jackass writers. I was ready to give up. But I decided to give it one last go. Luckily as the true plot was revealed titled ‘Twilight 3: Edward vs Dracula’. Edward is enjoying a quiet nighttime read of ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’ at a local beatnik cafe when the Count comes up behind him, taps him on the shoulder and asks him “are you serious with all this shit?” before ripping his head off and feasting on his jugular. As the petrified cafe patrons look on Dracula boldly declares: “Who is glittering now, bitch?”. The end. Turns out it’s a short film that they plan on running during the halftime show of the 2010 Superbowl.

In conclusion how much did my blog hits just go up? Would it be as much as a post titled ‘2 and a Half Men Is  Abreast Of The Rest’? Results in a few days.

To anyone who has the authority to fire Bob Bratkowski and has not done so yet I say “What’s Up With That?”

Only twice in my life have I seen play calling worse than what Bratkowski has done throughout his career with the Bengals.  One was on my 1-9 high school team Junior and Senior years, and the other was when I played Madden against my sister when she was 12.

I’m not saying that I could be a great offensive coordinator in the NFL, but even a ten-year-old kid buying his first football video knows that you cannot simply run off-tackle play after play after play and be successful.  This is even more true when your playing a second-string running back (who despite it all played great), and you have Carson Palmer and Chad Johnson (I can’t bring myself to call him “ochocinco”) watching the game happen.

Anyone who has ever played football knows that if you run off-tackle five plays in a row and the defense is holding up and looking for the ball, you cannot run a successful screen.

The play selection is awful, and the only reason the plays ever work is because the offense is so talented.  The only reason the Bengals are in first place is because Ced Benson is working incredibly hard and Mike Zimmer is God’s gift to the Bengals.

Many people will blame Andre Caldwell’s fumbled kick-off return for the loss to the Raiders, and it’s hard to dispute that point, but it also must be said that the game never should have been that close.

No matter how great our defense plays, no matter how talented our skill players are (TE’s excluded) and no matter how improved our offensive line is, I hope and pray every week knowing deep down that the Bengals simply will not have what it takes to go all the way with Bratkowski as OC, and the worst part is I know he will not be terminated because of the dismal management of the team by Mike Brown.

I certainly hope the players can play outside their abilities and come together to prove me wrong, and I will be the happiest person to ever be wrong about anything if they do, but sadly I do not see it happening Bob Bratkowski in the calling the plays.

Michelle Obama Takes Girls to London for Fish and Chips

A Boeing 757 and a fleet of armored cars for Michelle’s sightseeing tour!

On Sunday, President Obama flew back to the United States on Air Force One. His wife, two daughters and her mother did a bit of shopping in Paris before taking their own Boeing 757 (C-32) over to London to do some sightseeing. We all remember Obama’s admonishment to corporate CEOs in February:

“You can’t get corporate jets, you can’t go take a trip to Las Vegas or go down to the Super Bowl on the taxpayer’s dime.”

Apparently that doesn’t apply to his wife.

The London Times opened its description of Michelle’s visit this way:

Motorcycle outriders, armoured Chevrolets and bullet-headed men in raincoats criss-crossed London yesterday as Michelle Obama and her daughters spent a second day on an unofficial visit to the capital.

The Times went on to describe that when Michelle and the girls arrived at Westminster Abbey, the building was closed to tourists with people already in told to “wait against the wall.” An American visiting the Abbey said “Right then I knew it was probably someone from our ‘royal family’.”

Michelle’s motorcade shut down the  London street above as the First Lady of the World and her children go for Fish and Chips at a pub in  Mayfair . The entourage inside the restaurant was 15 people while dozens more wait outside. Include the dozens of Air Force personnel to fly and service the plane, embassy personnel and other staff and we are talking about a serious expenditure of taxpayer dollars.

Meanwhile, millions of Americans have lost their jobs and won’t be able to take their family on a summer holiday. Despite their circumstances they’ll still be expected to fork over the tax dollars to pay for Michelle’s trip!

The FLW tour crowned its champion at the Forest Wood Cup a few weeks ago and BASS just declared its Angler of the Year (AOY) after its first “made-for-TV” post season. Thus ends the 2009 professional fishing season—with a resounding thud. For some reason I didn’t feel the magic this season like I have in years past. As a fan of the sport I can’t help but wish for more.

College football fans know the feeling – it’s the same empty feeling you get when the BCS system fails to put the two best teams on the field in the national championship game. Everyone knows that the BCS is a flawed system, but once the last whistle blows in that final game all the fans can do is dream about what could have been.

Dream about what could have been is exactly what a sports reporter named Dan Wetzel did with college football a couple of years ago. He wrote a column called The Wetzel Plan that detailed how a college playoff system could work. He even put in a mock bracket for college football fans to salivate over.

In that same spirit, I humbly submit to you The Crawford Plan. The Crawford Plan calls for the Top 6 FLW anglers to fish against the Top 6 BASS anglers to compete in a made-for-TV tournament. Each team would consist of three boaters and three non-boaters. The teams for 2009 could be:

A real "superbowl" scenario

Most of us would tune in just to see what would happen when you stuck Tommy Biffle and Mike Iaconelli together on the same boat. Off the water, the reality TV style drama of seeing each team’s captain attempt to get his fellow teammates to work together would make for good entertainment. On the water, it would be fun to watch the giant bass these all-stars could catch if you sent them to the premier fishing locations on the planet.

Now is the time for someone to step-up and deliver a real made-for-TV tournament. Someone to create excitement like Ray Scott did when he put those first classic competitors on a plane with an unknown final destination.

No doubt, were I to post this dream idea on a message board I would get multiple replies listing all the reasons why such a tournament could never happen. Chief among these objections is the idea that BASS and FLW organizations would never support it. I find that particular objection interesting. I wonder if Joe Thomas had to have the blessing of BASS or FLW when he started Ultimate Match Fishing?

After the season is officially over, college football teams do not have the option of suiting up to take it to the field one more time. Luckily, grown men do not need permission from the NCAA or anyone else to go fishing with a few friends. If during that fishing trip they happen to be representing their respective organizations in an unofficial capacity so much the better.

From the weekend angler to the highest executives, FLW and BASS members have laid down vast amounts of smack talk over the years. Are we ever going to see this rivalry taken to the lake where it belongs? I hope that day comes soon. It will be the perfect way to end the season with a resounding bang.

During this past summer, I was invited to exhibit my illustrations at a community event in Ambridge, Pennsylvania.  The event celebrated the grand opening of the new Ambridge Area Chamber of Commerce building located in the heart of the town on Merchant Street.   Ambridge, like many towns in western Pennsylvania situated along the banks of the Ohio River were once booming and thriving steel towns with many restaurants, bars and mom/pop businesses.   The town is doing its best recover from its image of an old grimy steel town with the leadership of young 19 yr.-old Duquesne University college student from the area named Jeremy Angus.   In August, he became the youngest Chamber of Commerce director in the United States.   The town is looking reinvent itself by cleaning up its image and seeking the ideas and direction of the younger generation to lead it into the 21st century, while still retaining the towns storied history.   The event gave me an opportunity to meet with many notable people in the community, including two other accomplished artists.   The artists included Rick Antolic, who also graduated from my alma mater, Ambridge High School and who was the past president of the Pittsburgh Society of Illustrators.   The other artist included a pastel artist named Gary Means of Economy Borough, which leads me to this latest blog addition.

For the past several years my heart and passion have focused primarily on the medium of pen and ink illustration.  I have begun to experience though with the application of a whole new direction in my art with the application of color.   I picked up a collection of pastels a couple of weeks ago and have started adding some color to the illustrations I created in the past.   It is amazing at what the slightest bit of color does to bring the illustration to life and give it character.   I will be soon offering the pastel prints as limited edition prints.   The prints will each be signed/numbered and will not exceed 50 so as to hold their authenticity.   More illustrations using this medium will be added to the website in the coming months.

The illustration I have featured is my very first pastel which will be offered and features Three Rivers Stadium.   Three Rivers Stadium was situated on Pittsburgh’s North Shore across from Point State Park/Pittsburgh’s “Golden Triangle” along the banks of the Allegheny River.   The stadium was home to both the Pittsburgh Pirates & the Steelers during glory days of the 70’s when both were championship organizations.  It is one of the most cherished landmarks amongst Pittsburghers and the spot of many classic sports moments.   Three Rivers hosted the very first night game to be played in a World Series.   The two moments which probably stand out would be Roberto Clemente’s 3,000th hit and Franco Harris’ “Immaculate Reception”.   Those two athletes are legends in the Steel City and still loved and adored not only for their talents on the field, but their contributions off the field for common man and humanity.

Just as in my pen & ink illustrations and the once smoky city, we find ourselves emerged towards the light, the advent of color and renewed rebirth.   As an artist, you should always look to challenge and reinvent yourself and try new things, that goes for anything in life.   The possibilities are endless, but you will not know until you give it a shot.

Rolling Stone is saying that The Who has been booked to play this year’s Super Bowl.  I’m not sure I’m feeling this.  AC/DC would have been my choice since the half time show usually leans classic rock (boring!).  Who would you like to see??

Seu primeiro jogo como titular foi contra o Indianapolis Colts, e ja começou com uma vitoria arrasadora por 44-13, mas curiosamente não foi nesse jogo em que ele fez seu primeiro TD e sim no jogo seguinte contra San Diego Chargers.

 Desde então Brady vem estabelecendo recordes a cada ano. Como o recorde de passes para TD foram 50 passes na temporada 2007-2008.

 Brady é conhecido por sua excelente presença em pocket (proteção realizada pela linha de ataque), mostrou ainda um pouco de fragilidade no inicio da temporada. Talvez por causa do tempo que ficou parado por causa da sua lesão, ruptura de dois ligamentos do joelho esquerdo, que o levou a sofrer intervenções cirúrgicas e assim ficou de fora de  praticamente toda a temporada 2008-2009.

 Pro Patriots Brady é muito importante pois ele já levou a equipe quatro vezes à final, o Super Bowl(SB), tendo conquistado a incrível marca de três títulos. Brady também levou o Pats à temporada quase perfeita , onde perdeu apenas o jogo da final, para o NY Giants em 2008, jogo em que Brady participou machucado.

 Agora temos que esperar o decorrer da temporada para saber se o herói do Patriots está de volta. Ele vem mostrando que só precisa de tempo, pois realizou grandes partidas como a arrasadora vitória sobre o Tenesse Titans por 59 a 0. Neste jogo Brady fez 6 passes para TD, 5 dele em um único quarto de jogo.

Washington is looking towards a very long season but the offense is starting to put up a few points. Denver lost another game and will be on a short week as they head to Washington for this game. En una reciente parada durante su gira como solista “Use It or Lose It”, el vocalista del grupo Roger Daltrey dijo a Billboard.com que él y su compañero de banda y compositor Pete Townshend, estaban trabajando en el nuevo material que seguirá al último álbum de The Who, “Endless Wire”, del 2006.

Thursday NFL Network Football: Bears Vs 49ers

Thursday night games start up again when the Bears take on the 49ers on the NFL Network. Vernon Davis came out this week and said the front line of the Bears is not impressive and this will give the Bears billboard material. He went on and on about the front line of the Bears defense and how the 49ers will take care of them. He even mentioned that no one on the Bears defense can check him. Think the Bears are reading this?

The Bears have managed to cash the tickets in 25 of 36 on the road in November and getting away from Chicago after the bad loss to the Cardinals is exactly what the Bears need. Vi fortsätter våra torsdagskvällars bowling på onsdagarna. Torsdagarna har varit fullbokade. Men nästa vecka är det torsdag som gäller. I kväll var ingen lyckad kväll för mig. Klotet vägde dubbelt så mycket som det brukade, och än gick det åt  höger och än åt vänster. Jag fick det med andra ord inta att gå dit det skulle över huvud taget. Hade kollat en film på YouTube, alltså kolla den och njut. Jag försökte härma dem – men det gick åt skogen. Jag bowla bättre innan jag såg filmen.

Det är bara sanslöst!

This was my second year here! It was Superbowl Sunday and we had to work! We made no plans because we thought we’d miss the Game! Well that changed something came up and couldn’t finish our task! Most of my team had all ready made plans, I was working on the transfer system. I was friends with the boss there but we weren’t real tight. He asked if I wanted to go to a bar he hung out at, with his crew! I had no other plans so I went along with them. It was normally a small bar and a good restaurant we went to on occasion! He spent more time there than me and he was better at speaking Spanish! By the time we went back to the houses and got cleaned up we left and got there about 25 minutes before kick off! We missed all the pregame hype! When we pulled up there the place was packed, evidently the Mexicans like the Superbowl also, kinda like us and Cinco de Mayo! LOL!
Well we get out and there’s a line at the door they had rented a couple big screen TVs so there was a big turn out! I’m thinking were not even gonna get in to watch! So my man goes around the line to the front and says something in Spanish to the guy at the door! I could see inside and the place was packed! The door says give him a minute! A few minutes latter the Manager or owner comes out and gives my man a hug and says to hang on and asks how big our prarty is, we had about 10 of us! I watch him go in and talk to a couple of waiters and a big guy, must have been the bouncer! I’m watching thru the window and they walk over to a big table right in front of the screen, there was at least 12 guys and gals there, a pile of beer cans and some munchies! They had been there a while and kick off was in a few minutes! The waiters say something to the crowd and soon there was a little scuffle! The big guy comes over and throws them all out! LOL! I was blown away! A couple minutes latter the boss comes over and says your table is ready! “The best seats in the house” he says! So the Gringo power rules! I was embarrassed!
