We’ve been back for a week now and have had some serious time to reflect on what we learned and who we met at ALT Summit. WOW. Thats’s the first word that comes to mind.

First off, we went to Salt Lake City with our great friend, @superflyjulie from
Superfly Lullabies. Flying to SLC from Vancouver is not the easiest route.
Vancouver-> Seattle->Portland -> SLC. We lucked out and made it before
the snow shut down the runways in Seattle.

(Top Left to Right Clockwise: De-icing on the tarmac; The Grand America Hotel SLC; Snowy Runways; Dreaming of Mexico in Portland, OR)

We arrived hours later (2 x 30 minute flights + 1 x 2 hr flight= 10 hours) in SLC and our good friend, Paul, one half of the Cargoh team, picked us up and took us to the Grand America Hotel where Alt is held. We dropped our bags off and took a quick break for dinner at Frida Bistro for an authentic Mexican meal. Highlights of the meal were meeting Katie from Salt + Pine, blogger for Curbly & Wantist-Capree Kimball as well as some seriously creative margaritas!

Talk about respect for people: Cariann Nesler-Burger (the other half of the husband/wife team of Cargoh) pulled off some incredible handiwork leading up to ALT. Cargoh was one of the main sponsors of Alt this year so they were providing Thursday’s lunch and swag bags for over 450 creative minds. After our dinner, Daub + Design, Cargoh and This is East Van sat down to hammer out and wrap the remainder of the gifts. Hand-sewn notebooks, feather hair clips, individually stamped gift boxes…you name it, Cariann thought and executed it BRILLIANTLY. Love her!

This Sunday wraps up the end of Local-E Pop Up Shop in Gastown, Vancouver. Curated by Lexi of Daub + Design, this shop carries an assortment of locally made jewellery, swim wear, clothing, baby goods and handbags.

The shop is located on Cambie St, between West Cordova and Water St. All designers work shifts in the shop so it’s always a surprise who you’re going to meet. A few of the clothing designers had booths at the One of a Kind Vancouver Show which was last weekend so now they have more stock in store. Last Friday night we hosted a customer appreciation night and 24 Hours Vancouver stopped by — as you can see in the Dec.13th edition below:
