Έλα όμως που τη στιγμή που πας να φύγεις σου παίζουν το καινούργιο τους album το Superfreak, από το intro κιόλας οι Nightstalker δεν έχουν πια μόνο το όνομα αλλά και τη χάρη.

Οι Nightstalker δεν είναι νέοι στο κουρμπέτι, το πρώτο τους album το έβγαλαν το 1994, οπότε μάλλον για βετεράνους μιλάμε, οι οποίοι με την εμπειρία τους και τη μαγκιά τους ήρθαν να μας τινάξουν τα μυαλά στον αέρα. Ίσως το καταλάβατε από το όνομα, ίσως να απορήτε ακόμα πάντως οι Nightstalker είναι stoner-άδες.

Ok γίνεται εμφανές από το είδος κιόλας ότι το Superfreak δεν θα φέρει καμία επανάσταση στα μουσικά δρόμενα, όμως σε κερδίζει γιατί τα υλικά κατασκευής του είναι πολύ γερά. Σε κερδίζει η Ozzy-like φωνή που υπάρχει σε κάποιες στιγμές του δίσκου, σε κερδίζει η cult προφορά στους ψίθυρους (τι περίμενες, Έλληνες και να έχουν προφορά του Cambrige ή του Manchester;;;;;), σε κερδίζουν οι πολύ καλές συνθέσεις και ερμηνείες και κυρίως σε κερδίζει η μαγκιά τους, διότι η ύπαρξη μαγκιάς αποτελεί αναγκαία συνθήκη για τη δημιουργία καλού stoner.

Υ.Γ.: το τρίτο κομάτι του δίσκου λέγεται “Baby, God is Dead”, Nightstalker took his place θα προσθέσω εγώ.

On the morning of August 6, 2004, Rick James was found dead in his Burbank, California, home at the Oakwood apartment complex on Barham Boulevard by his caretaker. James had died from pulmonary failure and cardiac failure with his various health conditions of diabetes, stroke, a pacemaker, and a heart attack. Through his autopsy it was discovered he was under the influence of Alprazolam (Xanax), Diazepam (Valium), Bupropion (Wellbutrin), Citalopram (Celexa), Hydrocodone (Vicodin), Digoxin, Chlorpheniramine, methamphetamine and cocaine.

However the coroner would go on to say; “None of the drugs or drug combinations were found to be at levels that were life threatening in and of themselves. The cause of death was ruled acute cardiac dysfunction due to idiopathic cardiomyopathy, or an enlarged heart.” And that, “He didn’t die of a drug overdose.”

Animal instincts among wildlife are crucial for their survival. Their ability to hunt, reproduce and protect their young are essential skills to sustain any species. Many of these abilities are innate and have been developed over long periods of time – a mother’s surge of adrenaline to defend her newborn from a predator or a male’s aggressive claim on a mate.

While human beings are advanced in many ways compared to the animal world (we can tell lies and clean up our own poop), we too have fundamental instincts. Sexual prowess and desire are animalistic urges that are usually attributed to men, however there is a rising presence of sexually expressive women that are not concerned with societies judgment of them and their appetites. These mature women usually prey on young, sexually compatible men.

These women, known as cougars, are only one group in the broader existence of salivating women. Pumas, the youngest class of sexually open women are in their late twenties and are just beginning to open up and accept their desires. Panthers are in their thirties and find no shame in going after young men in their late teens or older men into their fifties (they’re not stupid – they know they’ll get great sex or a sugar daddy, it’s a win win).

Cougars are right in the middle, so it’s easy to use this term to include all women. These forty somethings are in a do or die phase in their life. They know their youth, an invaluable trait for a woman, has escaped their grasp and they spin into a fun, pleasure seeking midlife crises. While a man would dye his hair or go buy a sports car, a woman overcomes her hesitations about decisively claiming what she wants. What better way to build up the beaten down self-esteem of a mature woman than to get the attention and satisfaction of desire from a young, option filled man? The beauty of this is that she gets what she wants and he gets to live it up with the “Stifler’s Mom” fantasy.

Leopards are the next group in their fifties. They get this name because of their ever-increasing age spots. There are always exceptions for getting it on with a woman in this class, but as a whole you’re going to have to be in an alter state to consider playing with this jungle cat. Finally the eldest group is the snow leopard. Yes, they not only have full blown age spots but the frosty white hair to top it off. These majestic creatures have a world of experience and may give you the blowey of a lifetime (especially the ones with dentures) but these encounters are usually left untold, unless you spill the beans on a night of drunken openness with your closest boys.

Why bother with these older women you ask? A woman’s youth gives her the right to play games and be obsessively choosey. Additionally, as confident and full of herself as she may seem on the outside, she’s typically equally insecure. These insecurities translate to a less experimental, tamed down sexual experience. What guy wants to do all the work in the missionary position while the girl lies there like a dead fish? An older woman cuts through the BS, is willing to try things she never would have before, and from my experience, plays to her theme song, Rick James’ Superfreak.

These claims are always countered by the exception to the rule but why bother with young difficult chicks now when you can have fun with the cougars and work your way down, as you get older? After all young chicks usually want the older man. Play it smart, you only get one shot boys.

It’s officially spring!  Hurray!  Congratulations to those of us who managed to survive yet another soul-destroyingly cold winter in Boston.

Totally hypnotic and strange.  The (scary/weird) video can’t be embedded for whatever reason, but you can see it here.

4. Food, Clothes, Medicine – Aesop Rock (Fast Cars, Danger, Fire & Knives)

Aesop Rock is fucking great, and if you can get past the porn samples in this song I promise you’ll love it.

Edan is a Berklee alum – way to represent!  The only video I could find of this involves skinny Germans dancing around.  I think I’m OK with that, though.

I’m going to wrap it up with another seminal track from a seminal album…this song does not get old.

Friday night, a friend of mine was at a jazz club — hanging out with her neighbor when a guy walked up and asked if he could sit at their table.

Nah, I’m just playing. There is a rumored new sex tape though, but unfortunately for all the horny little internet hounds, it’s not some big ol’ Kardashian ass, or Paris’ ittie bittie titties. It’s way better than that (I guess). IT’S RICK JAMES BITCH!

So apparently, right before he died, Rick James taped some videos of his final musical recordings. The company that is claiming to have this video is AONE Entertainment and now they are following the American dream and posting that shit on ebay. The videos are Rick James’ last times in the studio so they are being marketed in the realm of song, not sex. But the rumor is that at some point in the video you see the Superfreak knockin some boots. May the highest bidder be rewarded with Rick James getting superfreaky, quite literally. Once again, this is purely speculative. But there is an ebay auction set up for the tapes, and the bid is up to $999.99 so far. The video also shows Rick getting high, but that is really about as fascinating as driving by a car accident, it may seem kind of cool, but its nothing to write home about because it’s so damn ordinary. Rick James took drugs like little kids pop Flinstone’s vitamins.

I for one would never pay anything to see a Rick James sex tape, but there are also a lot of weird ass people out there, so I’m sure this will strike someone’s fancy. The more that I think about it, this is probably totally bullshit, but oh well, it’s Friday and I needed some material. (Thanks Tank)
