Kick on the starter give it all you got, you got, you got
I cant compete with the riders in the other heats
Dont make a grown man cry
My hands are greasy
Shes a mean, mean machine
Start it up
If start me up
Give it all you got
You got to never, never, never stop
Never, never
Slide it up
You make a grown man cry
Ride like the wind at double speed
Ill take you places that youve never, never seen
Start it up
Love the day when we will never stop, never stop
Never stop, never stop
Tough me up
Never stop, never stop, never stop
When we’re alone in Her City of light
Rising from the neon gloom
Shining like a crazy moon
Yeah, she turns me on like a fire
I get high

Well, with 2009 approaching the ol’ finish line, you’ll start seeing lots of year-end wrap-up lists

Well, with 2009 approaching the ol’ finish line, you’ll start seeing lots of year-end wrap-up lists and things. And since it’s the end of the Double-0 Decade, you’ll be seeing lots of decade recap lists as well. (Some early spoilers: Pitchfork has crowned Radiohead’s Kid A the best album of the Double-0s, while the NME favors Is This It by the Strokes.)

But you won’t find that here, and not now. No, here you will find a year-end recap that dares to be somewhat different. This is the first-ever Listen Up! Year-End Awards ceremony – or you can just name them the Harleys after the adorable little trophy I’m giving out to the winners.

Let's see the Academy beat THIS one.

The fun begins after the jump!

All right, let’s get this show on the road! Bring on the first award!

Most Ridiculous Album Art of the Year

First, let’s have a look at the runner-ups…

Brooke Hogan, The Redemption

Um, wow. This looks like the kind of thing that some Dungeons & Dragons nerd might have airbrushed on the hood of his car back in 1987. I don’t even think people do that anymore. Also, that album title… don’t you have to screw up a successful singing career before you can make a comeback album called The Redemption? Quick, name the last time you heard a Brooke Hogan song. And VH1 doesn’t count.

Adam Lambert, For Your Entertainment

If Aladdin Sane went to the neighborhood mall, got some Glamour Shots photos taken, and then scanned the most ridiculous pose into his computer so he could Photoshop it poorly and add ugly ‘80s hair-metal logo fonts… well, the result still wouldn’t look as stupid as this album cover.

I must give this guy props for letting FYE sponsor his album title, though. If I ever get a record deal, I’m changing my name to Sam Goody and recording an album of techno-pop called Circuit City. The critics will call it a “best buy” even though it will basically sound like a cheesy ripoff of MGMT. Or Weezer’s “Can’t Stop Partying.” You decide.

Chris Brown, Graffiti

What’s the worst crime he commits with this thing? Carrying a guitar even though I’m pretty sure he doesn’t play? Borrowing Adam Lambert’s cheesy-looking font? The pseudo-outer-space scene in the background? The robot hand holding a spray can? No… it’s those ridiculous cartoon characters in the corner that earn this one its WTF status.

And the Harley goes to…

Shwayze, Let It Beat

What the hell is going on here? It looks like they tried to spoof the famous shot of the Statue of Liberty at the end of Planet Of The Apes. Only here, the statue’s been decapitated and dismembered. And she’s wearing a bikini. And she has speakers where her boobs are supposed to be. And her iPod is plugged into her belly button. And she’s apparently visiting the set of Miami Vice.

Most Awesomely Ridiculous Album Art of the Year

And the Harley goes to…

Weezer, Raditude

Just look at it. I mean, what else could you expect for an album that got its title from the guy who plays Dwight on The Office and called Ellen Page “homeskillet” in Juno?

Funniest Song of the Year

And the Harley goes to…

Theory Of A Deadman, “Hate My Life”

I still can’t figure out what to make of this song. On one hand, these lyrics are hilarious: “I hate that I can’t tell/When a girl’s underage/You know, I tell her she’s a nice piece of ass,/Then her daddy punches me in the face.” On the other hand, the singer sounds so sincere that it’s like he really wanted people to relate to this.

If it’s meant to be funny, then it’s a clever parody of angst-ridden post-grunge radio rock – you know, like Theory Of A Deadman’s other songs. If it’s not meant to be funny… well, that just makes it funnier, doesn’t it? And the acoustic version of this song, believe it or not, is even funnier. Unintentionally funny things are always funnier than things that are supposed to be funny. That’s why The Number 23 is the funniest movie Jim Carrey’s made this entire decade. Even with some strong competition from Weird Al, there was no way this wasn’t going to Theory Of A Deadman.

Plus, is it just me, or does the lead singer kind of sound like the guy who sings the songs in Team America?

Biggest Pop Star of the Year That I’ve Still Never Heard Of

And the Harley goes to…

Justin Bieber

I don’t have a clue who this guy is. I don’t know where he came from, and I have no idea whether or not he’s connected to the Disney Channel (the most likely cause for such a meteoric rise to fame). All I know is that he’s suddenly everywhere, I am clueless as to why, and I don’t really care either.

Most Inexplicable Attempt At A Singing Career

And the Harley goes to…

Heidi Montag

Apparently this girl from The Hills has been trying to get a music career off the ground for a while now. So far it has been greeted with the same enthusiasm people reserve for trees falling in the forest that they aren’t around to hear. But bless her heart, she keeps on trucking.

And hey, if this singing thing doesn’t work out, she could always pose for Play… oh, wait. She did that already. Never mind.

Runner-Up: That woman from Real Housewives who sang “Tardy For The Party”

Most Shocking Musical Controversy of the Year

And the Harley goes to…

Britney Spears vs. Australia

What do you mean Britney Spears doesn’t sing live? I for one am absolutely appalled that she lip-syncs! We made Ashlee Simpson a freaking pariah for pulling the same stunt on Saturday Night Live; now people wouldn’t buy her albums if you gave them away for free! You mean to tell me people will actually pay their hard-earned money to watch a singer who pretends to sing?

“If you’re shocked that Britney was lip-syncing at her concert and want your money back, life may continue to be hard for you.”

– John Mayer

For me, the controversy is not about Britney lip-syncing. Much like Mr. Mayer, I’m shocked that people are still shocked about this. Have the Aussies not been paying attention for the last ten years? Come on, Australia. Britney’s been lip-syncing since day one. I don’t even think that’s her real speaking voice. There’s probably someone sitting outside in an RV talking into a headset microphone or something.

Best Supergroup of the Year

And the Harley goes to…

Them Crooked Vultures

And in a stunning upset, Them Crooked Vultures takes home the Harley over… well, how many supergroups actually came out this year? There was Chickenfoot, Monsters Of Folk, and… uh…

I’m only half-kidding about this. Maybe I’m kind of biased since this band features Josh Homme (Kyuss, Queens Of The Stone Age) on guitar and vocals, Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters, lots of other bands) on drums, and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin) on bass. It’s kind of hard to go wrong with a lineup like that. If you like classic rock like Zeppelin or Cream, or if QOTSA’s Songs For The Deaf ranks among your favorite albums, or if you play an instrument, or if you like rock music in general, you’ll probably like this band.

Runner-Up: Monsters Of Folk

Most Baffling Music Video Trend of the Year

And the Harley goes to…

NSFW VIDEOS

I’ve never been a fan of censorship, really. That’s why if I ever come up with an idea for a TV show, I’d want it to be on HBO – because they let you do pretty much anything you want. Yet for some reason, this recent trend of NSFW music videos has taken me by surprise. Truly, Rule 34 of the Internet (“If it exists, there is porn of it – no exceptions”) continues to reign supreme.

Would you like to watch Rammstein porn (“Pussy”)? Do you think it would be funny to pretend another person’s penis is a microphone (Girls, “Lust For Life”)? Have you ever wanted to see Wayne Coyne naked (the Flaming Lips, “Watching The Planets”)? Well, guess what? All of these videos have been made just for you. But be warned – what has been seen… cannot be unseen.

Runner-Up: Everything Lady Gaga has ever worn. EVER.

Best Non-Existent Album of the Year

And the Harley goes to…

Radiohead, Wall Of Ice

It must have been interesting to be a member of Radiohead in the days leading up to August 17, 2009. Someone had recently leaked a new song called “These Are My Twisted Words” and the Internet was suddenly all abuzz about a mysterious new EP called Wall Of Ice. This despite the fact that nobody in the band had ever said anything about the leak, the new song, or anything they were planning for August 17. No blog posts on Dead Air Space, no news updates on At Ease Web, no interviews, no press releases, no nothing.

Yet all of a sudden everyone was convinced that Wall Of Ice was coming. After all, this was the band who released In Rainbows pretty much out of nowhere nearly two years earlier. Were they about to pull the same trick again?

Well, no. As it turns out, the Wall Of Ice EP existed only in Internet rumors. And the mysterious event set for August 17? The official release of “These Are My Twisted Words.” Somehow, without even doing anything at all, Radiohead had managed to pull off perhaps the biggest hoax since Orson Welles’ War Of The Worlds broadcast. But if “These Are My Twisted Words” is any indication, Wall Of Ice would have been pretty kickass. And Pitchfork would have given it at least an 8.5 out of 10.

One last Harley award to give out, and then we can all go home! Now, this one may be the last, but it’s certainly not the least. And anyone who’s paid attention to any award shows over the past few years will agree that this is a pretty big award.

The Kanye West Award, for excellence in the field of being Kanye West

And the Harley goes to…

Kanye West

Well, duh. At least now he won’t be throwing any fits backstage (or onstage) about how he should have won something.

As hinted at in the above promo video, Blak Roc is a new musical rap-hip hop collaboration, including Ohio based white boy blues act the Black Keys with rappers Mos Def, RZA (Wu Tang), Damon Dash, Pharoahe Monch and even features recently deceased Ol’ Dirty Bastard from Wu Tang as well.

The Black Keys aren’t strangers to dabbling with different sounds, with their last album produced by (mostly) hip hop producer Danger Mouse. This time though Damon Dash apparently approached them, after apparently becoming their biggest fan.
Then Mos Def just apparently happened on their recording sessions and joined the collaboration. One smells a bit of spin here, but whatever the folklore, the results speak for themselves.

Check it out:

The album, recorded in just eleven days due to the normal time constraints of huge collaborations, is due out in the US on the 27th November. The record stores are calling it “Blak Friday”… some more nice promotional gain/spin.

Cynicism aside, it’s brilliant to see a broad and genre-crossing collaboration, especially one with some tuneful results! Listening to Aint Nothing Like You makes you believe these guys have been playing together for years, it’s so natural.

If you can’t wait til it hits our shores check out Blak Rock radio.

And here we all thought the “supergroup” thing was finished. I guess it isn’t. First Monsters of Folk in 2009 and now this: the rather likely, if not predicable, trio of Homme/Grohl/John Paul Jones. Predictability is as standard to Rock and Roll as first person shooters are to PC gaming. When AC/DC finishes a song in a gigantic arena with a giant bell or inflatable chick in the vicinity, you know Angus Young is about run across that stage, jump up into the air with his SG, and land on the last A or E to end it, that’s just the way it is. For AC/DC fans, that doesn’t make it any less cool. So it goes with THEM CROOKED VULTURES. If you know anything about 1) Grohl and Homme’s pasts, specifically that Grohl drummed 2004’s awesome Songs For the Deaf, or 2) the musical stylings of latter-day QotSA, then you must have some idea of how this album will sound. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. More on that in a bit.

Homme, Grohl, and JPJ are about to peck your eyes out... with RAWK!

That’s not to take anything away from John Paul Jones, who does his best to put a different spin onto the off kilter Queens (notice the “s”) type tracks with a knack for disrupting rhythms and layered guitars. Although, it’s a little deflating that it seems John, as the senior member of the band, didn’t take a more aggressive lead in the sound and just opted to ride it out with what Grohl and Homme would be creating with any other bassist. Maybe JPJ came up with some of the riffs, I don’t know; but even if he did, he tweaked those riffs to fit the two younger members of the band, not the other way round. It’s kinda too bad, because John Paul Jones was the bridge to the land of Not-Another-QotSA-Type-Band land.

When you’re mates are Homme and Grohl though, just going with the flow isn’t so bad of a thing. Fans of Rock and Roll, the few who are left, KNOW what Grohl and Homme bring to the table, just as they themselves do as well. It’s kinda like going to a director you love — pick your poison here; Guy Ritchie’s a good example (minus Revolver; and no, I don’t love him) — and knowing exactly what you’re gonna get. First to last, that’s the thing with Them Crooked Vultures, predictability is their essence. In a good way. When I threw on my headphones and walked a mile or two to listen to this album straight through this morning, it was almost exactly like I thought it would be. I pictured it in my head, the tones, the riffs, the production, the instrument chemistry, even the levels, and it all came out about like I’d imagined. Combine this with the fact that what I imagined was a pretty damn cool Rock and Roll record, and the band’s got absolutely nothing to apologize for. For these three guys innovation is a train that left them early in their careers: Grohl w/ early Nirvana, Homme w/ Kyuss, and Jones w/ experimental Zeppelin. Now they’re in the business of straight Rock. And straight Rock hasn’t been innovative since 1953.

But I was never interested in this album for innovation’s sake. I was interested in it to hear a Songs For the Deaf-era QotSA-esque album with John Paul Jones on bass instead of Nick Oliveri. And that’s what I got.

Most things are not all shits and giggles. That’s probably why the phrase “It’s not all shits and giggles” got so popular. It’s wise, and wise phrases that include profanity tend to catch on (see: “Shit happens”). But after watching Monsters of Folk perform at Spreckles Theater on Tuesday night, I’m convinced that being in a supergroup is entirely shits and giggles. And nothing else.

From the moment they stepped onstage it was obvious that MoF (Conor Oberst and Mike Mogis from Bright Eyes, Jim James from My Morning Jacket and M.Ward from She and Him) were having a blast. They took turns joking to the crowd—James told a hilarious fabrication about the origins of Spreckles Theater that ended with “So this song is dedicated to John Spreckles and his empire of sugar”—traded verses and instruments, and rocked out to new interpretations of each others’ songs with a looseness that their other projects don’t often have. At one point Ward jumped up and down, pounding on a piano like Jerry Lee Lewis while Oberst (laying on the ground with a guitar) and James (almost straddling Oberst, also with a guitar), shredded and laughed and matched each other noodle-for-noodle. Yeah, it was a party.

The only problem was the pacing. There were a couple times when they followed an awesome face-melting extravaganza (like the one mentioned above) with a song that began with a sweet, stripped down, Jim James-led intro that sucked the energy out. Those intros would be fantastic in certain contexts, but I kept finding myself annoyed and waiting for the next loud part.

Mike Mogis once described the group in its early days as “the greatest Bright Eyes cover band in the world” and they were at their best on Tuesday when they were simply that. Their super-charged versions of “At the Bottom of Everything” and “Lime Tree” were highlights, and Jim James’ voice is such a great complement to Oberst’s, one kind of wishes the two would join forces to cover the entire Bright Eyes catalog.

Another highlight was a Conor Oberst song dedication. “This next song is dedicated to Rob Hagey,” he said, “who still owes me $41,000 for playing at Street Scene in August. You can just bring it out to my van later.” Considering the breach of contract lawsuits Rob Hagey is dealing with—as reported by Seth Combs in CityBeat this week—I don’t think he’s getting that money anytime soon. Oberst performed under his own name at Street Scene, by the way, not with Monsters of Folk. I wanted to clear that up because getting ripped off for $41,000 would pretty much disprove my shits-and-giggles-in-superbands theory.

I love music. I like bands, but sometimes I only like certain members. Let me explain.

I think, for example, that Dave Grohl is a great. And I only kind of liked the Foo Fighters, because I never thought Nate Mendel was very good on bass. I also liked John Paul Jones but didn’t like Robert Plant. And I always thought Josh Homme, of Queens of the Stone Age, was really being held back by guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen. You can imagine my excitement when my favorite members from those bands decided to get together to form Them Crooked Vultures! And no Troy Van Leeuwen in sight, that hack.

Joe Satriani was always a great solo guitarist, but I always thought he’d sound better if he was backed up by Van Halen’s Michael Anthony. And you know who I thought would also sound great with those two? Sammy Hagar — his refreshing blend of bad-boy attitude and hard-rock balladeering has made him a staple of the airwaves. If I could have picked one more person to round out that group, it would have been Tesla drummer Troy Lucketta, but I was just as happy to see Satriani, Anthony and Hagar team with Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith for Chickenfoot — it was almost just like my dream! Almost.

I also am a big fan of Monsters of Folk, because it gets Jim James away from those no-goodniks in My Morning Jacket, and also gives Connor Oberst some socializing time, which he needs because he always seems so lonely.

I always liked the White Stripes, but I always would think to myself “Jack White must meet a lot of interesting people. He should start a band with every person he meets.” And he did! Rock and roll music is the best. I love Dead Weather, The Raconteurs, the movie It Might Get Loud and his countless other group projects.

Radiohead is a fantastic band, but I think Thom Yorke is depressed. I’ve always thought that maybe his “band friends” were bringing him down. I hope his new group of producer Nigel Godrich, Flea, Beck drummer Joey Waronker and percussionist Mauro Refosco have lots of great jokes to tell him on the tour bus to keep him in stitches. I would call this band AwesomeTown! What? They don’t have a name? That’s fine too. But think it over, Thom.

It’s great when things I love all come together. I have recently combined my passion for not wearing a shirt and eating pineapple chunks with my love for getting out on a sunny day and mowing the yard. And I love bacon, M&Ms, fruit roll-ups and butter, too. (I hope you’re listening, candy companies!)

If only TV would follow the lead — can you imagine how great it would be for that one hot doctor lady from House and paramedic John Stamos from ER to work with the sexy cast of Grey’s Anatomy? They could call that show Good-Looking Medical Center, am I right? Or if Kevin James, Ray Romano and Jim Belushi all lived together in the same house? Talk about a trio of buffoonish husbands. I think I’d laugh my face off — and maybe have to be rushed to Good-Looking Medical Center! Yowsers!

For now, however, I’ll keep listening to all my favorite new bands made from people of other bands — and keeping my fingers crossed for that ultimate collaboration: the bass player from Four Non-Blondes, one of those guys from Vertical Horizon, the keyboard player from Was (Not Was) and Taylor Dane. I’ll be right there on the front row — in my dreams.

Velvet Revolver (Guns e Stone Temple Pilots), Angels&Airwaves (Blink182 e The Offspring), Chickenfoot (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Van Halen), Dead Weathers (The Kills e White Stripes), Audioslave (Soundgarden e Rage Against The Machine) e Them Crooked Vultures (Foo Fighters, Led Zeppelin e Queens Of Stone Age) são as mais conhecidas.

I don’t know why I’ve labelled this cut as “track of the day” when all I’ma do is dog it. I’m struggling to think of more than a handful of hip-hop supergroups that’ve actually worked. Not just closely affiliated soloists and groups that musically get it on from time to time, but actual bonafide hip-hop artists coming together with the specific purpose of forming a new musical outlet.

All too often, relationships sour, or the musical chemistry just wasn’t there. Peep this list for a quickie round-up of hip-hop supergroups. In the case of Group Therapy, however, things just didn’t work out from the word go. Whilst the participants Dr. Dre, Nas, B-Real, RBX and KRS-1 all have their merits, there’s something inherently wrong with that particular bunch of artists together.

For me, it smacked of tokenism, and the concept of repping one’s coast was beyond passe even back in 1995. The group name was hella gay, and the video was the cliched stuff of children’s nightmares. Nevertheless, it was a standout track on what turned out to be an incredibly poor “Dre” album, The Aftermath.

Understandably and inevitably, “East Coast/West Coast Killas” seemed to be confined to the “don’t go there again” box in all five artists respective careers, and they all went about their business thereafter, ne’er a word breathed about the monumental flop that was Group Therapy.

The music blogosphere has been rumbling about it since July, and interestingly most indication of what Them Crooked Vultures is about has come through their web 2.0 marketing rather than any physical offering. Comprising of Josh Homme (Queens of the Stone Age), Dave Grohl (Nirvana/Foo Fighters) and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), a group that was undoubtedly going to be hugely successful from the off has had an interesting entry into rock circles.

Announced on music website Antiquiet, followed by much hype on Pitchfork and Rolling Stone in early August, the new capital S Supergroup exploded into the world in an unnamed but deliberately leaked first gig at Chicago venue Metro.

But for fans who didn’t make it to that first gig, ie every fan bar one of a lucky couple of hundred, they have been given scant regard since. Releasing a content-less band website just for the purposes of spruiking merch shows their marketeers are not beyond treating their ‘market’ with contempt.

Perhaps this is all about building interest but maintaining mystique, 2009 style. Twitter and Facebook feeds have featured an X with coordinates on a Google map, locating pending shows such as those played at Pukkelpop and Reading Festivals. Who needs one of those outdated music products to tour on the back of, what were they called – ‘albums’?

Despite the frustration of a marketing campaign announcing bugger all else but t-shirts and gigs for a lucky few, if you are a fan of some of the bands that Grohl and Homme have played in (I’d say it might not be up the alley of every Zeppelin loving Boomer) you are likely to find the music awesome.

According to the music critic Greg Kot of the Chicago Tribune, the new supergroup, Them Crooked Vultures, which consists of Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, and Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, is “for real.”

“The group made it very clear that it’s not only for real, but also has the chance to be the exception to the super-group rule. Most of these Frankenstein projects usually end up being less than the sum of their parts, but Them Crooked Vultures sounded like it was on to something fresh, invigorating and just plain nasty.”

Ya, well, maybe Robert Plant will join this band instead of a reunited Led Zeppelin. It would figure. Move over Chickenfoot.

As previously blogged about, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones

As previously blogged about, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones and Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme have reprotedly been recording a super-secret project out in LA for some time. Over the last 24 hours that project became a little less secret. Eagles of Death Metal frontman Jesse Hughes (whom Homme plays alongside on tour, so he would know such things) let slip in an interview with a Winnipeg Radio Station that the supergroup was going under the name Them Crooked Vultures (I still like Antiquiet’s name, Stone Age Zeppelin Fighters).

Then earlier today an announcement came that this group (whose name still hadn’t been confirmed) would be playing a Lollapalooza aftershow in Chicago this Sunday (indicated in the picture above, featuring the symbols of the band members’ other projects). Shortly thereafter an official website, Twitter account, Facebook and MySpace page went live confirming the band’s existence and their name, though all of the above sites are quite bare, containing a place to join their email list and the message “Deserve the Future”. All other details surrounding the project are still mum, but in all likelihood we’ll learn more after the latenight show this weekend. All ye who are going to be in Chicago for Lollapalooza, your mission is to get into this show and report back on the band.

by Katie

The Dead Weather, featuring Jack White (White Stripes, Raconteurs, etc etc etc), Allison Mosshart (The Kills), and probably some other rock stars, released Horehound yesterday. I used the only word I have for this record in the title. This shit is nasty.

This album is like a record of when the blues become dangerous. Themes of violence, weapons, and animals recall the brutality of love amid screaming guitars and vocals that go from whispers to shrieks within a few verses.

Mosshart’s vocals are fierce and raw and violent, but her voice lends a new tone to White’s songs. She and her bandmates blend vocals like long-time collaborators, mimicking one another’s idiosyncratic delivery without becoming a parody. She’s aggressive, then shy; screaming, then singing; then she’s all of these at once, and somehow, it all works. In three words, she fucking rocks.

In the midst of these raging duets, I was caught off guard by the surprising prettiness of Mosshart’s voice in “So Far From Your Weapon.” The Dead Weather don’t really do “ballads” but this minimalistic, downtempo tune stands out for being so lovely.

Don’t be fooled; there is a distinctly Jack-White sound to these songs, despite the fuller instrumentation and bluesy leanings. There is also an instrumental theme that reoccurs throughout the songs, building like a fugue, breaking down the theme and hinting at it as it evolves. There may not be a clear transition between tracks; one sounds a bit like another, as is the case with “I Cut Like a Buffalo” and “Treat Me Like Your Mother.” The latter is a series of musical scenes so diverse and powerful, a lesser band would have avoided it as a single.

The Dead Weather, however, are no mere mortals. They are pushing the alt-blues label to its breaking point. That, my friends, is what’s so rad about this album. I’m not violent, and I’m not usually into angry music, and yet it’s cathartic to listen to. It’s relieving to end that exhausting journey with “Will There Be Enough Water,” the folkiest tune of all, which wonders about escape and innocense. It’s engrossing. It’s thrilling. It’s the blues, pissed off.

ps We have a Jack White tag? Who knew??

pps They were at the 930 club this week, and I’m broke and inattentive to life, so I didn’t get a ticket. But NPR broadcast the show! Check it!
