An 82-foot superlorry took to the road for the first time today, but was stopped by police because goods vehicles of this size are not allowed to travel on British roads. The giant vehicle is 26ft longer than a standard lorry, but according to the company behind it, will allow the number of lorries on British motorways to be cut by a third, therefore the environment would benefit from such a development. The argument about the lorry’s legality has been going on for a couple of years.
