The JYP auditions had hit the states with a bang! It wasn’t surprising since stars such as 2pm and the Wondergirls made their stamp on the USA music scene. It reminds me of the time when everyone rushed to YG Entertainment after 2NE1 came out. Filling up forums about the how-to’s on the auditioning. But step aside YG and SM. JYP has definitely shown great business tactics here in the states.

For one, who actually goes to Jonas Brother’s Concerts? Girls, tweenies and…yep more girls. The Wondergirl’s main target were girls, probably younger or teenage girls. As girls probably know girls have this fandom thing that when they get into something it suddenly is their life. I don’t think this is the reason why JYP targeted young girls but it defiantly wasn’t a dumb thing since ‘Nobody’ is relatively a big hit in America compared to other “success” stories in America. And you can’t talk about ‘Nobody’ without mentioning the dance. It was a craze. It can be compared to superman or chicken noodle soup. Even if you didn’t like the song, if you knew the dance it was just too addicting to not do it. Almost like how the ‘Tell Me’ dance was such a craze in Korea.

He set base in America and has actually produced for relatively big hiphop people like lil jon and such. He is known as Asia’s number one producer and honestly I can’t argue. He’s a smart guy and he knows how to play the game. His biggest creation Bi Rain is not failing him one bit. Dubbed now a “Hollywood Star” supposedly, Rain could be the first big Asian market star to make it in the USA. That is defiantly something to be cocky about. Though I will say J Tune will not be as big or as great as JYP Entertainment for I think Rain is not all that great of a business man, well as much as our dear Mr. Park, expect great things from him.

One of the things I believe that made JYP so big in America is the Wondergirls of course. He started out small and honestly I don’t even know how he got the gig with the Jonas Brothers. Small radio shows and video uploads on youtube, which seems like the way to go. 2Pm, 2Am and the Wondergirls sporting their own glowing youtube page. Interaction with fans and a costless exposure overseas. With around 1 million hits on one video it just shows how popular his groups are. However, to compare to group giants like DBSK or BoA can he compete?

Yes, BoA’s American Album I believe did a good job here in America. But not as big of an impact as Wondergirl’s Nobody. Even though I’m totally sick of hearing it already. I don’t even want Tell Me or So Hot anymore. Write a new song for them JYP!!!! NOW! before the whole world gets bored with them.

Their Motown look is what’s hot now. I just wish they had the same sound as “motown.” All glitz and glamour can only get you so far. And I honestly believe hard work and determination can only get you just so far. Natural talent should also be an ingredient. Every member has their own charm. If it’s just their “character” in the lime light or not. Character is what they have.

2Pm made us fall in love with them through shows like Wild Bunny and Hot Blood with their dear fellow One Day loves 2Am. 3 members spoke perfect English and 1 spoke Thai to a pin. Honestly, Nickhun was 2pm’s own Sandara Park, in Thailand of course. Their image of big beefy guys who spin and flip on stage, who can hate that? Their style of acrobatics is crossing over to other artist’s performances too and it’s defiantly not a bad thing.

With the controversy with JaeBum and his myspace comments, I don’t want to say that’s why 2pm is doing so well now, but it’s safe to mention it of course. Their lovely leader in the states due to “anti-Korean comments” what better time to make a comeback? NOW! of course. This story is sad of course and I’m not trying to make light of it, but can you deny this, though depressing, was also good exposure even if it wasn’t intended.

Whether it be the luck of the draw or just having great connections, JYP will take over the world. Now that he has stepped his foot inside the American market if he keeps at it there’s no pushing him out.

Superboy-Prime’s journey as a character has been a pretty unique one. He started out in the original Crisis on Infinite Earths as a hero, became a villain in Infinite Crisis, and kept on building himself as a threat throughout Sinestro Corps War, Countdown, and Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds. When last we saw him, he had been given both his greatest desire, and served his most devastation humiliation. His universe, Earth-Prime, was restored, but he was stranded there. Even worse, he was regarded as a joke, a comic fan’s cautionary tale. You see, on Earth-Prime, all of the DC Comics we know and love are presented as fictional stories, and only Prime himself knows that they’re very real. Now he’s trapped on this world, the ultimate irate fanboy.

Geoff Johns really takes advantage of the fictional nature of the DCU this issue, as Adventure Comics #4 begins with Superboy-Prime reading Adventure Comics #4. Horrified by the ending, he sets out to find out what’s going to happen in issue five. Meanwhile, back on New Earth, as the Black Lanterns claim his one-time ally, Alexander Luthor, Luthor crosses dimensions to get his vengeance on Prime.

The story has some really funny moments here (Luthor’s spot-on diagnosis of what the internet really is being my favorite), and it also features some awesome art by one of my all-time favorites, Jerry Ordway. We also get a glimpse of the team I call “Legion-3,” which we learned is the Legion of Earth-Prime’s 31st century. They’re keeping an eye on Prime, and that seems to be a nice set-up for future stories.

This is one of DC’s second feature books, in this case, the Legion of Super-Heroes. This story also picks up on Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds, as Blok, Dawnstar, and Wildfire visit the former Legionnaire who has taken Mordru’s place as the master of magic. There are some really chilling things here, and although I know Johns will soon be leaving this title, I desperately hope incoming writer Paul Levitz is planning to run with this. There’s some great potential here, stories just waiting to be unlocked.

I set out summer to review all of the Blackest Night comics here at the Realms, not knowing at the time that there would be a crossover or two in books that I review on a regular basis over at Comixtreme.com. (If you haven’t been there lately, by the way, I do a buttload of reviews on a regular basis.) This week’s Superman/Batman #66 is a Blackest Night crossover, the first of a two-part storyline by Scott Kolins, in which the Black Lantern Solomon Grundy faces the warped dopplegangers of our heroes, Bizarro and Man-Bat. Rather than re-write a whole review here, I decided to just provide you guys the link to my CX review. If you’ve been enjoying the Blackest Night reviews, just click on that for another one.

Quando volava fra i pali o si esibiva in parate “cinematografiche”

A sorozatokat mostanában kicsit sajnos hanyagoltuk tehát akkor most erre a fontra kellene egy kis erősítés. A többiekkel ellentétben – vagy jobban belegondolva talán mégsem – nem vagyok annyi sorozatban érdekelt mint ők. Amik prioritást élveznek mindenek előtt az természetesen a House és Smallville. A Smallville esetében már említettem h mi is véleményem az eddigiekkel és ehez annyit fűznék hozzá h ez jelenleg, a legutobbi “Pandora” című epizóddal igen csak a számomra megfelelő írányba indult el.

A House 6. évadjával kapcsolatban már jó ideje tervezem h összedobok egy kis véleményt és áttekintést de valahogy mindig kicsuszott a naptáramból. Ettől függetlenül pár szóban csak annyit tudok elmondani róla mint ahogy az eddig évadokról is, h nagyon nagyon remek. Az újítás és változás abszolút jót tett a sorozatnak és felrázta kicsit. Nekem nagyon bejön és biztos h ujra nézem majd magyar szinkronnal ha vmikor megéli azt a TV2 h megtudja majd venni.

Két kisebb de hasonló nagy kedvenc van még amig megint csak hétről hétre szemrevételezésre kerül, ebből az első a Rejtély. A  2. évad nagyon remek startot vett aminek ugye szintén adtam már hangot régebben. Sajnálatosan a baseball döntő miatt volt egy 2 hetes kényszer szünet ami elött és után is csak ilyen töltelék részek voltak, amik ugyan érdekesek és megint csak remekbe szabottak voltak csak ugye nem haladtunk előre a felvázolt fő szálon. Most talán visszakanyarodtunk a megfelelő útra, ujabb kérdések merültek fel és remélem a színvonal sem esni hanem csak nőni fog. Várjuk  a folytatást.

A másik utalás szintjén említett versenyző természetesen a Californication. Könnyed 20-30 perc szorakozást szokott jelenteni mostanában és egy kis nyelvi szőkincs frissítésre is jó mert mostanában inkább megnézem angol felirattal a sorozatokat minthogy megvárjam a magyart. Erről volt már szó külön postban. (nem is értem h miért pont a House maradt ki amikor az egyik legnagyobb kedvencem :S) A helyzet azóta nem sokat változott L.A. környékén, sőt a felállás csak bonyolódott és a legutobbi kaotikus rész után még nem tudom az aktuális rész milyen meglepetéseket rejteget. Itt is kezd egyre kaotikusabb helyzet előállni aminek minden képpen érdekes lesz a végkimenetele.

Ami még hétről hétre megnézésre kerül az a Clone Wars, amit nem tudom igazából h sorolhatok-e  ebbe a kategóriába, de mivel többnyire így kezelik így én is ehez az elvhez fogok ragaszkodni. A 2 évad nem régen rajtolt el és 7 epizód már megtekintésre került. Itt ugye nem tudunk olyan történetvezetésről beszélni mint mondjuk a fentiek esetében, ez persze mint a célközönségből fakad. A téma meg a star wars világ leköt szóval szivesen nézem ezt ennél bővebben nagyon nem tudom leírni.

Talán itt le is tudomnám zárni az ugymond veterán sorozataimat de akadnak olyanok amit még belépésre várnak vagy éppen csak most lettek elkezdve. Az utóbbib kategóriában 2 rajthoz állot kell szemügyre venni. Ebből az egyik a Two & a Half man. Ezt a sorozatot Nikim unszulására kezdtem el nézni és egyáltalán nem bántam meg. Tetszik a poénok egész jók és néha-néha amikor kettecskén bedobunk belőle pár részt, akkor kellemes hangulatot kölcsönöz. Jelen pillanatban talán a 7. évad fut, mi pedig lassan az első végére érünk tehát még van mi behozni. Én vagyok csak persze új a szakmában hiszen Niki látta már mindet, csak velem újranézi mert nagyon szereti.

A másik új belépő egy igazán veterán sorozat amit megint csak kizárólag sztem én nézek. Bár talán sokan ismerik és megeshet akkoriban amikor ment többen is nyomon követték. Ez pedig a Lois & Clark: Superman legújabb kalandjai. A sorozat első része 1993ban került levetítésre ezért is mondható h erősen öregecske már, de ennek ellenére egy nagy kedvemcem szerepel benne tehát nem is kétséges h nézem. A felbukkanása érdekes, free torrentként szerepelt fent a 4 évad bitgate-n és ezen felbuzdolva ugy döntöttem h leszedem megnézem majd arhiválom. Annak idején amikor az RTL vetítette is néztem, de most valahogy elkapott a dolog és ennek eredménye h az első évad közepénél járok. A sorozat korából adódóan több szempontból is akadnak érdekes dolgok, de a legszembetűnöbb a technikai megvalósítás. Kicsit kiszámithatóak az események, de ettől függetlenül nekem tetszik.

Emellet akadnak olyan sorozatok amiket egyszerűen nem volt időm elkezdeni. A Flashforward-t sztem már nem is fogom mivel az olvasottak alapján csak az első pár része érdemel figyelmet, utánna kasza gyanus. A Cougar Town-ban látok potenciát csak nem tudom elkezdeni, talán kellene vki akivel leüljek és elkezdjem és utánna kialakulna a függés. Ezen felül fontolgatom h majd a karácsonyi szünetben amikor pangás lesz sorozat témában le fogom darálni a HIMYM hiányzó évadait és egyre többet megfordul a fejemben h a Lost is el kéne kezdeni. Pontosabban az első évadot csak feleleveníteni hiszen azt láttam, csak az utánna lévőeket lenyomni.

A végére pedig egy olyan kedvenc ami hamarosan elrajtol a 3. évaddal és a mostanában egyre több kiszivárgó promo alapján sztem nem fog csalodást okozni, csak a furcsa felosztás kelt bennem némi aggodalmat. Nah talán akkor a végére értem a témának és mindent amit akartam le is írtam. Ezek után már sztem csak a House 6. évadja egy postot és akkor sorozat téren kipipáltnak érzem a történetet.

Depois de “A Chegada de Atlas”, os fãs de Superman irão se surpreender com “Novo Krypton”, uma saga inédita do Homem de Aço. A publicação é um lançamento da EDITORA PANINI, com início na edição 83 da revista mensal do Superman, até o número 87. O produto, com distribuição nacional, já pode ser encontrado nas principais bancas do País.

Os leitores descobrirão em Novo Krypton que não há somente um Superman na Terra. No extremo norte do nosso planeta, ao lado da Fortaleza da Solidão, a antiga cidade kryptoniana perdida de Kandor foi trazida de volta ao seu tamanho normal. O sol amarelo da Terra energiza a cada dia mais milhares de seres, que realizam feitos antes exclusivos ao Homem de Aço. O problema é que os kryptonianos de Kandor não são Superman.

A cultura e mentalidade deles não foram moldadas na Terra, e os resultados do contato dos kryptonianos com a raça humana ainda são desconhecidos. Enquanto isso, perigosas figuras conspiratórias se movimentam nos subterrâneos, convencidas de que a chegada de Kandor trará ao planeta Terra somente uma coisa: destruição total e completa.

Evolución de las películas de Súper Héroes

FirstShowing.net, retomo una gráfica presentada por la cadena Kold Cast TV, donde se presenta el desarrollo de las películas básadas en cómics de Súper Héroes, las ganancias que estás han obtenido, siendo Batman la franquicia más remunerable con casí 3 Billones de Dólares. Tomando en cuenta que la primera de la serie: Superman, casi alcanza el Billón. Así mismo que Marvel tiene el 68% de la producción, y que 2008, ha sido por mucho, el año más exitoso para la industria cinematográfica.

También se menciona a las tres péliculas de The Punisher como los grandes fracasos de la historia al lado de Elecktra y Howard The Duck.

The original man of steel

When I was a kid, I used to watch Superman on television. I don’t mean the cartoon, but the real Superman, as played by George Reeves. I loved the idea that the “man of steel” would protect you from the bad guys.

As I grew up, I realized only too well that Superman wasn’t there to save you and you’d best learn to save yourself.

Still, it’s nice to have a strong man around and for me, it’s my friend, John Jones. Today is his birthday and I hope this post lauding his good qualities will make up for the fact that I didn’t get him a gift.

Jonesy stands about 9-ft.-8 or some astronomical height and has a stare that would turn kryptonite into just another rock. You definitely wouldn’t want to be on his bad side.

But when he hugs you, it makes you feel as if nothing could ever hurt you, because if anything tried to, he’d kill whatever it was with his bare hands in about three seconds.

I learned what a great guy he is last year at my friend Shelley’s surprise 40th birthday dinner. I felt kind of out of place, since I was at the restaurant alone among quite a few couples. Jonesy came over and sat with me, put his arm around me and said the most outrageously funny things that made my sides hurt badly from laughing so hard.

I’d repeat some of them, but I’d be banned from the blogosphere.

He didn’t just come once that night, but three times, each visit funnier than the last. His act of kindness was amazing to me,  in part, because we still really didn’t know each other very well then, and also because no one asked him to do it. Jonesy made it his business to make sure I had a good time.

That’s what I call bankable points. (And the pun in that first sentence was just for him.)

The real man of steel

What I admire most about him is the fact that he’s completely comfortable in his own skin. Some people say they are, Jonesy actually is.

He can dish it out, but he can definitely take it. One of the reasons Jonesy loves me, is because I’m probably one of the few, if only, women he knows who can beat him at the sexual verbal one-upsmanship game.

I proved this when he came into my office last week for a surprise visit. I told him I hoped our flirting didn’t bother his lovely wife, Molly, who’s also become a friend of mine.

Jonesy told me not to worry about it in the bluntest way possible.

“You’re not 18,” he said.

I relayed this to a couple of girlfriends who brustled at the assumed insult. It didn’t bother me, though. I had the perfect comeback.

“Yeah, but I know things 18-year-olds only dream about,” I said with a smile.

And then he high-fived me.

  1931: Aparece por primera vez Superman en el fanzine Science Fiction: The Vanguard of Future Civilization #3, creación del escritor Jerry Siegel y el dibujante Joe Shuster. La idea les pareció buena pero no tuvieron éxito cuando trataron de comercializarla ya que las editoriales pensaban que un personaje tan poderoso no podría tener éxito.

1933: Famous Funnies es considerado el primer cómic. Fue una re-impresión de varias tiras cómicas, en formato de comic book.

1936: Se crea el primer superhéroe tal y como los conocemos, aunque irónicamente no tiene ningún poder sobrenatural. The Phantom dibujada por el artista Lee Falk, aparece como tira cómica en los diarios norteamericanos y cuenta la historia de un hombre que utiliza un disfraz púrpura y un antifaz para proteger su identidad y así poder combatir el crimen. Porta dos pistolas calibre .45 y monta un corcel blanco.

1937: Se lanza Detective Comics No 1, posteriormente la compañía toma las iniciales para crear DC Comics, una de las casas editoriales más importantes actualmente.

1938: El cómic comienza a tomar cada vez más importancia, pero es hasta que Joe Shuster y Jerry Siegel presentan en Action Comics #1 (junio de 1938) a Superman que nace la Época de Oro.

1939: El segundo superhéroe en cobrar importancia es Batman, creado por Bob Kane y presentado en mayo de 1939 en Detective Comics #27. Aparecen por primera vez juntos dos de los superhéroes más importantes de todos los tiempos, Batman y Superman, en la portada de New York Worlds Fair Comics #1, aunque nunca aparecieron en una misma historia hasta 1952. Se crea Timely Comics, que a la postre se convertiría en Marvel Comics, con el lanzamiento de La Antorcha Humana (no confundir con Johnny Storm) y Prince Namor: El Sub-Marinero.

1940: Para esta década el personaje más popular es Capitán Marvel (Shazam) cuya primera aparición se dio en Whiz Comics (Número 1 en portada y 2 en interiores), publicado por Fawcett Publications. Posteriormente DC obtiene los derechos y crea la revista Shazam! cuyo primer número corresponde a febrero de 1973.

1941: Se lanza el primer cómic con contenido bélico, haciendo aparición el superhéroe más patriótico de todos los tiempos, Capitán América, en Captain America #1 creación de Jack Kirby y Joe Simon. Otra inclusión importante es la de Wonder Woman de William Moulton Marston (creador del detector de mentiras).

1952: Aparece en Superman #76 la primera historia de Superman y Batman juntos escrita por Edmond Hamilton y dibujado por Curt Swan.

1954: El New York Worlds Fair Comics cambia su nombre a Worlds Finest Comics. En el #71 de dicha serie Superman y Batman aparecen en la portada y se incluye una historia de los superhéroes juntos. A partir de entonces la revista se dedica a publicar exclusivamente historias protagonizadas por Superman y Batman, y desde ese momento el dúo se conoce extraoficialmente como World´s Finest (Los Mejores del Mundo) y aparecen varios crossovers en sus respectivas publicaciones.

La década de los cincuentas fue difícil para el Noveno Arte, ya que la censura Mcarthista afectó a todos los géneros del cómic y, con la conjunción de diferentes circunstancias termina una de las mejores etapas del Arte Gráfico Secuencial. La Época de Oro termina, lamentablemente, con la publicación del libro Seduction of the Innocent del psiquiatra austriaco Frederick Wertham donde planteaba la teoría ultraconservadora anti-cómic de que éstos inducían a los jóvenes a cometer actos delictivos y atentaban contra la moral.

En consecuencia directa se crea el Comics Code Authority, un código para regir los contenidos de los comics donde queda estrictamente prohibido la aparición de temas sexuales, políticos o de violencia (de manera ilustrada o escrita) además también prohibía que personajes terroríficos aparecieran como protagonistas de comics. Por si no fuera poco, se crea The Comics Magazine Association of America, que regularizó los temas de varias revistas de terror, prohibiendo la aparición de sangre, tortura, vampiros, hombres lobo, lujuria, necrofagia, necrofilia, canibalismo, zombis y las palabras horror y terror.

1956: Durante los años subsecuentes a la creación del CCA, varias casas editoriales fracasan, desaparecen personajes importantes y las ventas bajan considerablemente. Es hasta que aparece Barry Allen, mejor conocido como Flash, que la industria da un nuevo respiro y nace oficialmente la Época de Plata del cómic. Otro acontecimiento importante es el lanzamiento de Fantastic Four el cual dio inicio a la denominada Era Marvel del Cómic. Marvel lanza personajes tan importantes como Spider-Man, X-Men y Daredevil entre otros.

Actualmente el Noveno Arte es uno de los movimientos más importantes, con gran número de personajes, corrientes, temas y autores renombrados. La industria del cómic ha evolucionado con el tiempo, convirtiéndose en uno de las formas de contar historias más populares, dedicando convenciones a nivel mundial, programas de radio, revistas especializadas, tiendas exclusivas y un largo etcétera.

Um amigo me enviou as páginas de uma HQ onde explica como ninguem reconhece Clark Kent como Superman e como curiosidade eu estou postando ela aqui para vocês verem.

Se acaba este arco argumental de transición. La JLA número 37 marca el fin de una etapa bastante pobre aunque en estos tres episodios Len Wein llevó a cabo un trabajo muy digno en el guión, con la Liga de la Justicia enfrentada a las maquinaciones de Roulette y Amos Fortune.

Hay mucha acción y tenemos la participación de Wonder Woman y el carismático Plastic Man. Y que Superman esté en la portada no es publicidad engañosa. Les aseguro que también tiene un rol en la historia.

I spotted Green Lantern, the original Sandman (I’m assuming it is Wesley Dodds behind the gas mask) and Dr Fate in this trailer for the upcoming Smallville TV movie (2 episodes put together).

Will it be any good? I don’t know. I posted a photo of Michael Shanks (Stargate) as Hawkman a few days ago – that may give you a better idea.

There’s something to be said for a show that was never particularly good (tell my best friend I said this if you want to see me get punched in the mouth [!]) going to such great distances to grow and mature and suck tons less, causing in me the desire to throw CW’s Smallville props for being the crappy little program that could as the treaser for the upcoming Absolute Justice event is online.  Congrats, guys, on putting together the most ambitious story arc on the small screen in years, barring some science-fiction shows that are of higher ambition to start with as it concerns their general premise and concepts, such as the phenomenal LOST and recently with AMC’s The Prisoner, which I found thoroughly enjoyable (for more reasons than the new love of my life, Hayley Atwell).  How well it pans out for the show is another story as the writers seem to love throwing non-Superman  Clark Kent into full on Supes situations, and utilizing characters far earlier than necessary.  Not to mention the show is obviously shot in a crappy warehouse most of the time and is visually telling of this sad reality.  The fact that every opinion I hold on the show being 100% true is one thing but I know I’m not being completely fair, or fully accurate.  Obviously the show tapped into something positive with fans as only real comic geeks would continue to watch, and yet the show is on it’s 9th season, a huge accomplishment for any series, of any genre or format.  Having heard for years now that every subsequent season would be the last, I now see precisely that for as unsurprised as I will be if the show has a 10th, the same could be said for it’s 20th season or for the 15th anniversary of spin-off show Martian Manhunter: Darker Than Space.  As much as I used to desire the show to go away so that another comic book show could come on and actually be good, I now must root for Tom Welling and Erica Durance’s awful chemistry and the sometimes, but rarely, cool battles.  You win, Smallville.

PS: Thank you for getting Michael Shanks to play Hawkman in the upcoming Absolute Justice.  My man crush for him just doubled, and that’s saying something after his turn as Victor on S2 of Burn Notice.

Bosh and Superman are set to battle

I see you’re not gonna sit this one out with an “injury”, hey Vince? Alright, I’d be lying to myself if I said Carter didn’t love coming to Toronto and torching the Raptors. Air Canada and the Magic are in for the second time this season, tipping at 12:30 this afternoon at the ACC. As always, check out the full preview over at Raptors Republic.

I honestly believed coming into this season Orlando would be worse off with Carter than Hedo Turkoglu, but as much as it kills me to say it, I was wrong. Vince seems to have found the perfect scenario — one where he’s not pressured to be the top guy, or better yet, one where he can routinely take nights off and people won’t notice because Rashard Lewis and Superman will pick up the slack. Yeah, Turkoglu was killer in the clutch, but Vince has been known to hold up alright come crunch time when he feels like it. The Magic, behind Carter’s 18.1 points per game, come in at 10-3, including a 125-116 win in Toronto on Nov. 1.

As usual, the key for the Raptors will be D’ing up, especially on the perimeter against a team like Orlando. The Magic drilled 17 threes in their previous win over Toronto, and that came without Carter, who’s averaging almost three per game. Chris Bosh & co. will also do well to attack Dwight Howard early and try to get him in foul trouble.

Anyway, fresh off a home win over Miami Friday, it would be nice to make it two and a row with a walk in the park coming in the form of Indiana on Tuesday.

Hallo Leute,

Nach dem ersten Teil von “Up, Up And Away” in Superman #650 (nachzulesen in Review #35), war ich ja unschlüssig ob ich diese Storyline überhaupt weiter verfolgen soll, oder vorläufig aus den Superman Serien aussteigen soll, da mir der erste Teil nicht so richtig zugesagt hat. Ich hatte mich dann aber da zu entschlossen noch den zweiten Teil in Action Comics #837 abzuwarten bevor ich mich entgültig entscheide.

Storytitel: Up, Up And Away Part II of VIII-Mild Mannered Reporter

Inhalt: In einem unterirdischen Labor, hört Lex Luthor in einer Radiosendung, dass die Vorstandsmitglieder von Lexcorp ihn als Chef absägen. Dann bricht Superman durch die Wand. Es  ist jedoch nur ein Roboter der vom Toyman gesteuert wird. Das Ganze war von diesem nur eine Demostration seiner technischen Fähigkeiten. Luthor zeigt sich davon unbeeindruckt. Er interessiert sich mehr für den geheimnisvollen Kristall (siehe Superman #650). Dieser scheint allerdings nicht zu funktionieren. Clark Kent muss in der Zwischenzeit seine Verletzungen verarzten, die ihm von Luthors Männern zugefügt worden sind. Er ist noch immer nicht daran gewöhnt keine Superkräfte mehr zu haben. Dann macht er sich auf den Weg in die U-Bahntunnel um zu untersuche ob es eine Verbindung zwischen Luthor und der Intergang (DC´s Version der Mafia) gibt. In den Tunnel trifft er dann auf Intergang-Mitgliedern, die ihn in alten Lexcorp-Schlachtanzügen angreifen. Ein Glück das Clark vorher mit Green Lantern telefoniert hatte und dieser nun zusammen mit Hawkgirl ihn vor den Intergang Leuten retten kann. Nachdem Kampf gibt Green Lantern Clark einen Ring, der sein “Superman S” abgebildet hat und möchte das er wieder ins Superheldengeschäft einsteigt. Am Ende des Heftes trifft sich Lex Luthor im Park noch mit Metallo. Diese gehen eine neue Partnerschaft ein.

Die Story war erneut recht langweilig. Also es kommt einfach keine Spannung auf. Clark ohne Superkräfte ist zwar eine gute Idee, allerdings wird hier daraus deutlich zu wenig gemacht. Das ganz plätschert so vor sich hin. Auch der Auftritt von Green Lantern und Hawkgirl kann mich da nicht positiv stimmen. Green Lantern finde ich zwar als Charakter ganz gut, aber zum Beispiel Hawkgirl kenne ich kaum und sie interessiert mich auch nicht wirklich. Auch auf Schurkenseite bin ich nicht so begeistert. Was Luthor plant ist mir diesmal egal, weil die ganze Story eben so langweilig geschrieben ist. Metallo am Ende ist ein Lichtblick. Toyman fand ich noch nie so toll eher mittelmässig. Insgesamt 4 Punkte von mir.

Die Zeichnungen treffen wie schon in Superman #650 nicht mein Geschmack. Es sind hier ja auch die gleichen Künstler wie in Teil 1 am Werk. Ich finde sie sogar noch schwächer, wobei mir besonders die Zeichnungen von Clark Kent überhaupt nicht zu sagen. Deswegen vergebe ich hier nur noch 3 Punkte. Einige Bilder waren ganz ok, deshalb gibt es überhaupt hier Punkte von mir.

Fazit: Nach diesem Teil war für mich ganz klar, ich verfolge diese Storyline nicht weiter. Wären es nur drei Teile würde ich den dritten wohl noch lesen, aber 8 Teile sind etwas zu viel des Guten. Da muss schon mehr kommen, damit ich mir hier von alle Teile durchlese. Ich bin aber zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt wieder in die Serien eingestiegen, also wird es demnächst auch wieder Reviews dazu geben. Aber diese Storline werde ich nicht weiter verfolgen.

Let me start by saying that I am sorry for not keeping up with the blog very well as of late. My kiddo suddenly needed to have his appendix removed and I have had very severe bronchitis which put me in the emergency room twice.  My son seems to be recuperating nicely and I think I’m actually getting better a little myself.  It’s been a rough couple of weeks for my family and I, but I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel (hopefully, it’s not a train).    At any rate, here is the quote of the week.  I hope it brings a smile to your face and shines a light in your heart.  Take care of yourselves, keep hope alive, and God bless!

I love it when real life people appear in these old comic book stories. Here wrestling champion Antonino Argentina Rocca  takes on the Man Of Steel. Of course this story is not as famous as the Superman Vs Muhammed Ali comic book that came out in the late 70s, but I wonder if that story was influenced by this one.

Antonino Rocca was one of the wrestling greats of the 1940s, 50s and 60s, and wrestled in the famous fictitious tournament final against Buddy Rogers for the newly created World Wide Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship, which he lost. He also  apparently worked alongside Vince Mc Mahon as a commentator on WWWF television in the mid70s, before he passed away in 1977.

Here is a match between NWA Champion Lou Thesz, and Rocca. Not sure when this is from though, perhaps the late 50s or early 60s.
