WORLD OF DANCE – SAN MATEO was a success! SKOOL DISTRICT GOT 3RD PLACE! We were 2 points short of taking 1st! – one out of five judges gave us a low score of 78/100 -22 points off because our transitions weren’t “smooth” for her apparently. Still (majority) freestyle dancers placing in a choreo competition – and we collaborated less than 24 hours before the event!!

In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Shri Krishna’s first teaching to Arjuna – and all of us – is that there never has been a time in the past when we did not exist, and there will never be a time in the future when we cease to exist. We are all souls and we live eternally. For countless thousands of years into the past, we existed, and for thousands of years into the future we will continue to exist. Before we were born in this one life, we existed, and after this one life has apparently come to an end, we will still exist. Our body had a beginning and it will become older and eventually die, but we, the soul, will not. We are spirit, and anything in the mode of spirit has always existed, and will always exist.

The temporary, physical body is mode of blood and bones, flesh and fat, and is an amazing biological machine. It lasts for a number of years and then is gone. But the soul existed before the body was even conceived, and after the moment we call death the soul lives on. The soul is the real us, the true inner self, and the most important part of being a person. We are like a passenger in our body, and the body is like our vehicle.

Packaged along with our physical vehicle is the mind, which directs the body; and above the mind is the intelligence, which directs the mind. Above them both is the ego, or the sense of self, and above them all is the soul, the seat of consciousness. When the ego covers the soul and focuses the sense of identity on the temporary body and flickering mind it is known as the false ego, but when the soul, through the power of self realisation, is awakened to its true nature, then the real ego is re-established and true enlightenment enjoyed.

We see our bodies change over the years. From a child’s body we develop an adult’s body, and then the body of an old person. Science tells us  that every seven years each cell in our body dies and a new one is born. So every seven years our body is compleyely renewed. But despite all these changes we still feel ourselves inwardly to be the same person; the inner self does not change. When the outer body changes for the last time we call it death. And at the time of death the inner self moves on to enter a new body.

Just as an actor changes clothes to play different parts, the soul changes bodies to live different lives. And in every life we try to experience pleasure and avoid pain. This is because the soul is trying to regain its eternal, blissful nature, but does not know how. So despite our attempts, in each life we experience a  frustrating mixture of pleasure and pain. If we can practice patience in the face of both pleasure and pain, and the happiness and distress they bring with them, we will learn to distinguish truth, which is eternal, from illusion.

Changes of body are made possible by God, Krishna, who accompanies us on our journey through the universe as an old friend. He fulfils our desires, and knows our past, present and future. His words in the Bhagavad Gita awaken us to who we really are.

The individual soul is a fragment of the Supreme Soul, just like the rays of  a divine sun. Each soul possesses in very small quantity the qualities of the Supreme. The Supreme Lord is indestructible, and so is every spiritual particle. Each soul has a unique identity, never to be lost or dissolved. Just as the rays of the sun are dependent on the existence of the sun, so the soul is always dependent upon the existence of the Supreme Soul. The individual soul is eternal, yet God is the Supreme eternal.

Krishna is the witness to every deed, word and action of each individual soul, and is present in the region of the heart as the indwelling Vishnu, or Paramatma. He is always inviting the soul to abandon the atempt at reaching permanent happiness in the world of suffering and wants all His lost souls to come back to Him. Yet He permits us to wander as we wish, always helping us with good instruction both from within the heart as His inner voice of truth, and from without as the sacred scripture, holy people, and the guru.

The awakening of the soul’s eternal identity as a companion of God is the greatest goal of life, the true satisfaction of the heart, and the inner essence of every religion.

God revealsHimself: ” To those who are constantly devoted to serving Me with love, I give them the understanding by which they can come to Me. ” ( Bhagavad Gita 10;10 )

Devotess want to satisfy the Lord in all respects, and the Lord wants to satisfy His devotees even more than they want to satisfy Him. Although the devotees expect and desire nothing, they recieve more from their devotional service than they give. Such are the mysterious exchanges of love. The Lord says, ” The pure devotee is always within the core of My heart, and I am always in the heart of the  pure devotee. My devotees do not know anything else but Me, and I do not know anyone else but them. ” ( Srimad -Bhagavatam 9.4.68 ) And: ” A devotee observes Me in all beings and also sees every being in Me. Indeed, the self-realized person sees Me, the same Supreme Lord, everywhere. For one who sees Me everywhere and sees everything in Me, I am never lost, nor is he ever lost to Me. ” ( Bhagavad Gita 6.29-30 ) The devotee is always thinking of Krishna, and Krishna is always thinking of His devotee. ” Those who always worship Me with exclusive devotion, meditating on My transcendental form – to them I carry what they lack, and I preserve what they have. ” ( Bhagavad Gita 9.22 )

If we make our friendship with Krishna, God, it will never break. If we make our master Krishna, we will never be cheated. If we love Krishna as our son, He will never die.If we love Krishna as our lover, He will be the best of all, and there will be no seperation. Because Krishna is the Supreme Lord, He is unlimited and has an unlimited number of devotees. Some are trying to love Him as lover or husband, or brother, friend, son, master, Krishna accepts the role. In whatever way we approach Krishna, He will accept us…… ( Raja Vidya, chapter 8 )

-Camped @ Lake Berryessa; I was sick on the way there. Got better since I slept the whole day that I was supposed to be packing grocery shoppin and a bunch of other things. And slept the whole way there (while my friend was lost cuz it was dark when we were looking for the camp site. We didnt get a boat for our 2nd day there cuz one of our friends was told that we didnt need to reserve one by the clerk at the store/boat rental office. It was hot and we drank, played some catch phrase, and I slept a lot while we were there haha!

-Fall semester started, getting my AA degree FINALLY! Still will have a few classes to take in order to get into some radiology programs around the bay.

-Took 2nd Place in a small dance competition @ Great Mall, Milpitas, CA hosted by Wild 94.9, a SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE PROMO…the grand prize was a Nintendo Wii + Wii Fit

You have probably seen yogis holding their thumb and pointer finger together and extending their remaining 3 fingers out.  This is chin mudra.  Chin means consciousness in Sanskrit and the purpose of this mudra is to remind the practitioner of the goal of yoga, the union of the individual soul with the supreme soul.  Mudra means seal, and it is essentially an energetic and spiritual gesture that controls the flow of energy within the body.  The fingers each have representations;

• Thumb: Supreme Soul
• Pointer: Individual Soul
• Middle: Ego
• Ring: Illusion
• Pinky: Karma

Ego, illusion and Karma are the 3 impurities that the yogi is trying to remove from their life, in order to unite their Individual Soul with the Supreme Soul and experience that divine, blissful understanding of union they strive for.  Doing chin mudra is a physical representation and reminder of this goal and serves to refocus and re-energize the practitioner.  Try it and see how it makes you feel.  Sit cross-legged, straighten your spine, close your eyes, bring both hands into chin mudra and rest your hands on your knees.  Think pure thoughts and feel connected to the entire planet.

Recently Pujya Maharajji  mentioned (in USA Open Satsang) that we don’t get close to God or Divine Mother because .. “Shayad Hamne Dusri Ma Kar Lee Hai” (Maybe we have adapted another Mother).

A few days after I heard It seems as if Maharajji was saying that we  bow, and say namaskar to Maya … “Dusri Ma”  but not to Divine Mother , at least not with all of our being.  Our mind and intellect are still in the world and want the world, more than God.

Shree Swamiji Maharaj also says in Amritvani:

Sarva Shaktimate Parmaatmane Sri Ramaaya Namaha. (I bow before Sri Ram who is vested with all powers … source and reservoir of all powers… seek shelter with the Supreme Soul … dedicate and surreder myself unto Him!)

Also in the end of Amritvani we read and hear:

… Ramaaya Namaha, Sri Ramaaya Namaha.

So let us not do Maya Namaah, instead follow our Gurujans and do Sri Ramaaya Namah.

(Let us not get caught up in Maya but as our Gurujans teach us to bow and seek shelter in Lord Ma, Divine Mother, Supreme Soul Sri Ram only then with the Grace of our Gurujans and Sri Ram we can be liberated).

GAMESTOP PARTNERS WITH CAPCOM AND THE EVO CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES TO “FIGHT AGAINST HUNGER” AT STREET FIGHTER IV NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS

WHAT: GAMESTOP, the world’s largest video game retailer, has partnered with CAPCOM and the EVO Championship Series, the largest and longest-running fighting game tournaments in the world, to host the Street Fighter IV US National Championship Finals on Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 7p.m. The event will take place at Fort Mason in San Francisco, where 16 national finalists will battle it out for the Grand Prize before advancing to represent the US in an International Exhibition featuring champions from Japan and Korea. Oh man… it’s been quite a busy weekend… so it was good to sit down, relax and watch ABDC… The opening set was “cute”… Didn’t really blow me away but it was good… I didn’t know really what to expect from the Boys V.S. Girls deal and it wasn’t much to think of… The challenge had nothing to do with it except that the boys did a boy’s music video and the girls did a girls music video… seemed kinda dumb to me how much they hyped it up but oh well… still the same show… LoL…

There’s something about Lil’ Mama’s comments that make me want to shoot my tv… This week I watched last week’s episode first because my girlfriend was over and she missed last weeks episode… anyways… Her comment after Quest Crew made me cringe… For weeks J.C. has been on Quest Crew about the whole “run to your spot and pose” deal, which btw I’ve been looking hard to see and can’t find… and the crowd booed HARD (rightfully…)… and once J.C. was done Lil Mama harps on the crowd telling them to stop booing because the crews need to hear their “words of wisdom”… I sat there thinking, “WHAT WORDS OF WISDOM???”… I appreciate Shane Sparks’ comments and how real he is with crews regardless of how much he likes the crew or anything and I even appreciate J.C.’s comments and “nit-picky-ness” but when i think back over ALL THREE SEASONS I haven’t really heard anything proper come out of lil mama… She’s cried over a crew (which i totally understand because of where and how she grew up) and seems to either “agree” with everyone else or be totally wrong when she agree’s with one judge and another contradicts (Quest Crew’s Kickboxing routine)… I think she should just let the crowd be a crowd, the fans, fans… Speaking of judges… what’s with JC’s comments on the whole run to a spot n pose thing? i talked about it earlier and i don’t see it… specially with last week (week 3’s) transitions.. he said it again but i saw them do the soulja boy “YOOOOOOUUUUUUU” to a spot then a few flips… idunno… anyways to move this away form the judges and on to this episode…

Fly Khicks what???? I know that Strikers messed up and I feel sooooo bad for Money Mike… but Fly Khicks pulled it off again! Another upset… The Fly Khick’s reaction said it all… Major Shock! I think the challenges were done well… Strikers’ bboyin were off but the Jabawockeez impersonation was sick and i thought they had it… but then again the “amazing” camera work of the ABDC crew made me miss Money Mike’s mess up… And you just gotta love the fly khicks swag… back to their baggy jeans and showin their abs… it’s murda!

Now as for my predictions… I think Beat Freaks might actually take it this year… my only beef with them (I think i expressed this earlier) is the fact that people will view what they do as 10x better than if a guy did it (bboying) just because they’re girls… These girls are sick and they can dance! They’ve got good ideas and crisp movement but taking this past episode as an example… Not many caught the mess up in the back row while Shorty was doing her headspins because people were in AWE that A GIRL is doing head spins (not to mention they’ve already done this in a previous episode). Meanwhile the Strikers got murdered by the judges for Money Mike’s mind lapse… I know Money Mike’s was much larger since he was at the focal point but not even J.C., Mr. Detail, mentioned the minor mistake in Beat Freak’s routine… I guess that’s alright tho… Beat Freaks have murdered the past two episodes and I think have pushed over Quest Crew for the top… I’m still routing for my boys… but if they don’t step it up they’re going to have to settle for #2…

I think Fly Khicks are a perfect fit for this challenge because of their versatility but they might have a bit of problem with the threading, Quest Crew may breeze by this, their challenge will be making this interesting and creative (which isn’t a problem with their personality types)… Beat Freakz, they’ve got the locking, the poping, the bgirlin so they’ve got this in the bag… Will it be an all girls finals? It’s all up to Quest… *salute*

This will be the OFFICIALL name for these video treats. Notice it’s GRG vT not ‘tv’. Isn’t that liek hELla ClEavAr?

Like I said, I’d like for these to turn into segments/pieces on random interests; Musicians, Artists, Clothing Companies, Interesting people.

But not just any random ‘joe’ that can play a guitar to a shitty boom-clap beat, recorded one shitty ass song from his on board mic on his laptop and all of a sudden he has a ‘clothing line’ that screen prints lame ass shit like a TEDDY BEAR WEARING A SHEMAGH-WITH BLOOD LEAKING OUT AND SAYS ‘HIP-HOP’  on the sleeve!…..NAHH fuck that weak ass shit.

I want to feature quality ARTISTS. I want to help convey their idea’s and set up the necessary awareness for these local artists. I want to put you on to some un-wack shit.

We all know how big the artist community/ industry is..especially here in the Bay Area. With these video treats, hopefully, I will share with you those artists and individuals who share that purpose of using a particular media to evoke an emotional response from a recipient. That purpose we call “Art.”
