You're A Girl?

Today was my last day in my house. So I stayed home to pack. Except I slept in till 9:30 and didn’t start packing until 10:30. My mom came home at 12 as a surprise and told us that we were getting the keys to the house in an hour. So we threw things in boxes for the next hour and then left for the house. I brought along one box because I wanted to be the first one to move something in and since I’m not going to be there for the actual move I figured I’d help as best I could lol. So one we got there I immediately had to ask if we could nock the sign down. My mom said we could be she wouldn’t actually let me nock it down. My sister struggled to pick it straight up out of the ground.

I just wanted to nock it down. This is my house now, get off my property lol. We found some really pretty vases in the garage and the owners aren’t taking the stuff they left so I guess we get to keep them. Shoot I just remembered I was going to write a post about a rare plant that I have, but I didn’t write the name of it down (the only name I have for it is the scientific name so I just call it a Madagascan aloe) so that sucks. I’ll just have to do a post about something else. I’m with my dad until Christmas eve so I’ll probably be doing a lot of work on my blog. Hopefully I can squeeze a new laptop out of him making things much faster

So, with my recent break up and everything I have been feeling kinda ronery. Wondering how I can ever be forgiven for disregarding 2D, I recently checked up the Tokimeki Memorial 4 website to check out what it’s like. Apparently set in the same location as the first game. I was rather skeptical about this game when it was first announced because it seemed like Konami was gonna pull it out of their ass. But now checking out their page and everything, I have to say that it looks pretty interesting. I dunno you tell me. It’s been out for a few weeks now and I’m sure a lot of other people have already beaten it a few times.

It just has a lot of the things that made the previous games fun. I totally like how they improved on the hobbies thing. This time they’re special skills though which help make various aspects of the game easier such as raising stats, better knowing what the best response to say on a date is, and over 100 more. They seemed to have added a type of holding hands event which sorta reminds me of True Love Story, I guess, but not as in depth. There is also a more active approach on the players behalf when it comes to encountering girls during the week. So you actually have some say in which girls you want to see and don’t want to see.

Mini games are back and pretty much the same stuff from the other games. The RPG esque battles look so hilarious as always. You can have a job which is new and so is buying items. Wearing clothing is back again. I hope it’s not as strict as in 3 though. A lot of the game elements seem to be real polished and have a more modern feel. Shiiiiiiiit no more computer instead everything is on your cell phone that you have to recharge.

I like the graphics. At first I thought it was purely animation but after watching clips on the site and Youtube, I’ve noticed that the characters on screen appear like they’re breathing, they blink and change expressions in real time. It’s probably the kind of angle they originally wanted when making 3 but the cel-shaded graphics were horrible. Least I thought so. I like these graphics used on the PSP.

The female characters look standard and disappointingly bland, but that seems to be the growing trend in a lot of these games. No longer do people want girls with different colored hair that set them apart. Instead more personality is injected to make up for the similarities in appearance. Well, at least that’s what I hope for. I’ll probably go for Tsugumi first since I like the literary girl character type, but it seems like she has a twist. The tag line in English says, “She seems quiet, but when Tsugumi is angry she’s scary??” So Mio + Kotoko = Tsugumi? I’m interested to see. I like how there is a foreign girl. That’s always funny, but why the hell did they give her a real gimmicky speech dialect thing? I can see it getting annoying.

Here is a video of her introduction. If you can’t tell your two male friends are voiced by Sunohara (Daisuke Sakaguchi) and Tomoya (Yuichi Nakamura) from Clannad. That is just fucking awesome if you ask me. Best friend pairing evar.

Overall, it might be pretty enjoyable. I’m thinking of picking it up for Christmas. Definitely interested in seeing just how it plays. The special skills would make each play through interesting and I love grinding stuff like that and just mismatching things. It’s been at least since high school when I played Tokimeki Memorial 3. I need to support the franchise because it’s really a favorite of mine. Would really love to see a 5 on a console in the near future, but I wouldn’t mind the PSP either.

To say the least, my jury did not go well.

I made it well on time, and was prepared.  I knew how to do all my hard parts, and had been practicing the fingering silently for the past week.  I did a 5 minute warm up, breezed through the hard parts, and sat waiting.  I was pretty sure this would go really well.

When it was time for me to go, the juror who let me in had the same excitement level of a slug, which is to say, none at all.  Annoying, disconcerting, and maybe a little demoralizing but whatever; I had this in the bag.  This was going to be a no problem jury, the way I practiced it.

If there’s something to learn from all this, it’s coming up.

So I stand facing the piano and the panel of 4 jurors, and it’s time for me to face the music.

Without wanting to go into to much detail, this is what was going through my head.

“What the <Censored> did you do that for? What the hell! Okay, it’s only the beginning, we can try to…. WHAT THE <censored> WAS THAT?! Oh god, now the one is falling asleep, this isn’t good aaaand… yup, missed my A again.  Okay, here’s another chance to… CRAP.  Screw it, this next bit is easy, we can hop back on he- OH COME ON! SERIOUSLY?! COME ON! CO- OH GREAT.  Now I missed the next bunch.  Hopefully this is going to turn around…”

“F<censored>!!!!”

When I finished, the jurors, to their everlasting credit, were kind and gave me a smile.  But I’ll be damned if they actually thought that was a good performance, and I’ll be double damned if I don’t get a C in that class from that shoddy piece of crap I tried to call playing music.

At least I get to go home.

“i hope you are doing well,its just my view but i find this profile picture satanic and dark; im aware of kali worship and i dont know if this i what this represents but at the minimum it is unpleasant for the viewer and at the most – indicative of satan worship or at least idol worship a concept not within sufic beliefs even if tolerated. thought i would say hi! salam”

This is what I noticed:

1. I am not horrifically offended or even the slightest bit shocked or surprised.  On the contrary, an attitude of active curiosity arises within my consciousness and a little voice says, “Well it’s about time… I must be getting somewhere.”

2.  Memories arise of earlier times in my life, times when the outrage my work sometimes inspired frightened me.  Now I feel happy for the calm interest and sober, clear-headed acceptance of disapproval as both inevitable and a sign that I am actually doing something real.

3.  My friend obviously hasn’t read my blog, so I sent him a link to the first entry, http://murshidava.wordpress.com/2009/08/13/why-fear-the-mother/ Although it is somewhat likely this action may inspire even more disturbance, I am aware that this sort of disturbance is definitely, from my point of view, a good thing.

4. I wonder why he hates women so much (“at the minimum,” he writes, “[the pic} is unpleasant for the viewer.”) but decide against including that in my reply as it might moot the point even if it is psychologically pertinent.

5. I note that, personally, I like Her breasts, tongue, the whole she-bang (pun intended) very much, and find the entire piece of art extremely attractive.

Yes, I have changed.  Perhaps even matured over the years.  The work I do, it does, as Shabuddin once told me, ‘make trouble’, but I do seem to have finally come to appreciate my particular and unique gift for trouble-making.  Or at least I appreciate that there are certain kinds of trouble worth making in this world and I am willing to accept the consequences of being one of those who make it.

And yes, the profile pic is Kali Ma.  Of course it is.

The Interwebs are filled with cat pictures, cat videos, and other things revolving around our feline friends. This video of a kitten looking surprised has over 7-million hits due, most likely, by the amount of people who can’t get enough of a cute thing.

Most people think of a “book” when they hear the word “author”.  But I have come to believe that we are all authors, we are all writing the stories of our own lives on a daily basis.  What we create, what we decide, what we choose to do with our time are all the elements that create the stories we live.  Just as writers focus on the structure of a paragraph, we as life authors need to focus on the structure of what we want to create for ourselves on a daily basis.   What is so incredibly wonderful, is that we can redesign, reshape, or recreate our experience at any moment we choose to.  We can change the words we use, we can change the actions we take, we can change the direction of our story… because we have the pen to do so. 

When we start to take responsibility for our lives, we begin to take control of how our life unfolds.  I have found that most people who are unhappy in their lives, blame someone else, their life circumstance, or simply that life has been unfair to them.   Yes, there are times and circumstances that are out of our control, but as we’ve heard so many times before, it’s not what happens to us that makes the difference, it’s what we do with it and how we deal with it. 

It’s never to late to write a new chapter in your life, no matter your age or your situation.  What are your dreams?  Take a piece of paper and write out the story you want for your life…. you just might be suprised at what changes begin to take place.  You just might find yourself on the BESTSELLER list of life!

So I found the most adorable kitty video, and I knew that I had to share it, and really it does cheer me up when I feel sad. The weather is so strange lately. Flooding, then mist and fog, then flooding and then freezing. Its really winter now, the icy cold air, defrosting the car in the morning, car crashes all over the place because even though we get frost every winter people seem to be surprised by it, go figure!
