Aku mau meraban pasal pilem-pilem yang aku dah tengok sejak beberapa bulan lepas sampai ler semalam. Perlu di ingatkan aku tak pergi pun memana panggung wayang tapi sebaliknya mendownload. Dan apa yang aku meraban ni aku main taip ikut pilem yang aku ingat aje.

1 – My Sister’s Keeper

Genre drama mengenai sebijik keluarga dalam menjalani kehidupan seharian bersama seorang anak yang menghidap lukimea (aku main bantai eja ikut sebutan; aku buta bahasa omputih). Cameron Diaz melakonkan watak seorang ibu yang tak mahu anaknya mati… kesudahannya? mati.

2 – Funny People

Pilem komedi lakonan adam sandler. Unsur yahudi sangat kuat terutama watak yang dilakonkan oleh Seth Rogen sebagai pembantu watak Adam Sandler. Ada yang kata pilem ni tak bagus dan kurang lawaknya; tapi bagi aku ianya memang boleh buat aku ketawa terutama scene dalam bar selepas doktor mengesahkan watak adam sandler telah pulih dari penyakit yang dihidapinya. Scene tersebut membabitkan Eminem, Ray Romano, Seth Rogen dan Adam Sandler… pada aku scene tersebut paling lawak. Tak lupa jugak satu babak yang pada aku agak sinikal membabitkan dua komuniti online iaitu myspace dan facebook; di mana myspace menggunakan sepenuhnya pilem ni untuk menghentam facebook… Fuck facebook! muehehehehe..

3 – Zombieland

Aku tak berapa minat pilem pasal zombie-zombie terutama zombie kampung pisang. Tapi pilem zombieland ni sangat lawak dan satu-satunya pilem zombie yang tak membabitkan pompuan bogel tetek bergayut mengejar orang di tengah jalan sambil mulut di penuhi darah meleleh…oops.. scene tu ada di permulaan pilem tak ler lama cuma 10 saat je. Secara keseluruhannya inilah pilem zombie  99.9% paling “bersih” dari scene bogel mahupun seks. Watak woody harrelson aku rasa paling sesuai jika owen wilson yang pegang; manakala lakonan selamba Jesse Einsenberg jugak mampu menghasilkan mood lawak. 2 orang pelakon pompuan tu pulak setakat menggedik saje sepanjang pilem; kalau aku jadi pengarah pilem ni dah gerenti aku biarkan 2 pelakon pompuan tersebut di geget zombie sampai lunyai.

3 – Surrogates

Pilem aksi paling bosan. Kalau takde aksi lakonan Bruce Willis pilem ni sama aje macam pilem sembilu arahan yusuf haslam. Idea dah okay tapi lemau. Pada peminat aksi bruce willis memang no hal punya nak layan pilem ni tapi peminat aksi yang betul-betul rangup, pilem ni boleh buat lu orang tido dengan lenanya sebab aksi pilem ni lemau tak rangup.

4 – Gamer

Lebih kurang sama aje dengan pilem surrogates, bezanya cuma dalam surrogates yang dikawal ialah robot tapi dalam gamer pulak yang dikawal ialah manusia itu sendiri. Sama seperti surrogates, pilem ni kalau takde aksi ianya tak jauh beza dengan pilem-pilem yusuf haslam… sial bosan punya pilem. Aksi dah ada tapi jalan cerita yang lemau.

5 – 2012

Aku dah baca komen-komen mereka yang dah pi tengok pilem kat panggung wayang; perghh… sedap jek semua dok kutuk pilem ni dalam blog memasing; ada yang kata pilem ni mengantukkan, bila aku baca lagi dalam blog mereka.. mereka kata mereka pi amik tayangan tengah malam… memang ler ngantuk bhai kalau tengok movie tengah malam dalam panggung wayang yang aircondnya sejuk menusuk tulang. Ada pulak yang kata pilem ni takde pengajaran langsung… adoi bhai… nak pengajaran berguna pi bukak TV Pendidikan lah bhai; dah tentulah jangan ler dok mengharapkan sesebuah pilem itu mampu menghidangkan kamu sebuah pengajaran berguna… pilem dah okay, lu orang pulak lemau.

Version R5 pilem 2012 ni dah pun released sejak semalam. Aku dah download dan dah menonntonnya tengah malam semalam pukul 2 siap download terus aku tengok. Kepada peminat movie yang dipenuhi special effect yang bagus; pilem 2012 adalah pilem ke-2 bagi tahun 2009 ni yang menghidangkan special effect pada skala global selepas Revenge of the fallen. Jalan cerita lebih kurang sama macam pilem armageddon (1998). Jangan ambek kesah sangat pasal ramalan puak mayan mengenai 2012.. oh yea.. dalam hampir kesemua blog, mereka kata ini semua agenda yahudi mengenai ramalan 2012 ni; lu orang silap lah bhai.. sebenarnya puak mayan yang membuat ramalan malapetaka besar yang bakal menimpa bumi pada 2012; yahudi mungkin cuma keluar bajet bagi bikin pilem ni je.

Untuk senarai lengkap pilem-pilem yang aku dah tonton sepanjang 2009 ni, sila berambus masuk ke sini; kira-kira 70% pilem dalam situ dah aku tonton manakala selebihnya aku download tapi malas nak menontonnya sebab memang aku tak minat langsung antaranya pilem SAW 6; ini pilem paling bosan.. kalau takde scene potong memotong pilem tu tak jauh bezanya dengan filem-filem yusuf haslam.

Oh yea… kepada yang masih tak lupa semangat boikot yahudi, lu orang jangan pi bazir tengok wayang pilem-pilem hollywood ni semua, lu orang download jek melalui internet. Jangan hanya melalak boikot ketika isreal tengah menggila di palestine tapi bila dah reda semua lupa boikot… aku tengok mekdonel makin ramai, tesco makin untung… apa cerita?

Today, everybody has an online presence, sometimes multiple online personalities. You got Facebook and Orkut and even Second Life where you could actually live out an actual second life! What might happen if technology improved to such an extent that you could have real avatars which will do everything you always want to do. This movie, answers that question.

Just like how resumes are faked when applying for a job, in the movie, you could have your avatar be and do whatever you want. You could be some fat guy who is living in the basement or an ageing aunty. No problem, just pay for an avatar or surrogate which is in its 20s with the perfect figure and just chill. This means, almost everybody you see in the movie is as hot as the hottest model on the internet. Every female has the perfect cleavage and great ass. Yeah, since the surrogates are manufactured by metal skeleton over rubber skin, you can jump out of a running bus, fight a lion and actually rip off your arm to throw at someone! Hell, the army in the movie uses surrogates where in soldiers are sitting safe and sound in what looks like a huge LAN party hall, while battling enemies in far of land through quickly replaceable surrogates.

It is a perfect world. However, things change when a surrogate is killed (which is nothing to worry about) but his operator also gets killed (which is something to worry about). Enter Tom Greer and Jennifer Peters (Bruce Willis and Radha Mitchell), FBI Agents on the case. One thing leads to another, and eventually ending up with a shocking revelation.

I have already seen enough robot action this year. Terminator Salvation and Transformers 2, which pretty much implies that any action scene (and, there are a few) in this movie is going to fall flat and it does. Just like the movie I Robot, in this movie as well the future is just like today, except for Robots. In a future where you have fully functioning robots, you are still using keys to open doors? The movie has some cool effects and the premise is built upon very nicely and makes you ask a number of moral questions (like any other sci-fi tales). Already so many of us communicate with our friends digitally. Will we end up talking to our friends only digitally? You can have video sex through web cam. Will it replace real sex? On weekends one many never leave the comforts of their living room, preferring do things from their arm chair. Will you ever end up never leaving your living room?

I recently watched “Surrogates” a sci-fi movie with Bruce Willis as the star. It was an interesting concept to me. People had resulted to using a ’surrogate’ or robot of their ‘perfect self’ or a ‘perfect someone’ (since your surrogate does not have to be a direct reflection of you, you can be anyone -from male to female) to live their lives. The actual real people never left their homes and instead were always wired to their systems to control their surrogate selves. The robots did everything – their daily jobs, errands, etc. It seems almost silly to imagine our society becoming like this but 20 years ago we would never imagine ourselves tied to our laptops and cell phones as we are now. This same type of concept, I believe, was also displayed in the movie “Gamer”, but I think they wired actual people to be controlled by the person playing the game. So I wonder, how far away is the possibility of this happening?

When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I thought it looked fantastic. I later on tried to completely forget the trailer so that if the movie was crappy, I wouldn’t be disappointed.

Well, my newly low expectations for the movie were highly surpassed. I absolutely loved every single minute of this movie. From the great acting of Bruce Willis (Die Hard 4, The Sixth Sense) and Rodha Mitchell (Silent Hill) to the way they depicted the different looks of the people while compared to their surrogates. This movie was fantastic and kept me in amazement and suspense throughout the entire length of it.

As it’s out of theatres now, I can’t recommend going to see it there, but I do recommend buying it on DVD (or Blu-Ray) once it comes out. You won’t be disappointed.

“The Surrogates” is a true new Sci-Fi classic. It combines real science predicts where it is going and combines it with a moral message. Its a good concept, exaggerated version of what internet is going to lead to in the future. you know, being someone you’re not and getting away with it.

Moreover this movie pretty much does take to an extreme what happens already when we play a video game or watch a movie. People, myself included, simply cannot accept the fact that life is, for the most part, nothing more than routine. We are born, go to school, get a job, have kids, grow old and die. We all are nothing more than little gears in a much, much larger engine called society, dreaming about the day when we will actually mater; realizing that day will never come.

Despre ce e vorba, pe scurt: peste foarte multi ani vom juca jocuri gen Sims sau Counter Strike, numai ca in

locul jucatorilor virtuali vom avea oameni reali. Adica va exista un nou joc, Society, care seamana cu Sims, in care ai putere totala asupra unei persoane care si-a dat acordul sa fie controlat de altcineva. Sa fii “personaj” Society va fi unjob - ti se vor implanta niste celule in creier prin care sa poti fi controlat. Slayers este varianta noua a Counter Strike – detinutilor condamnati la moarte li se va da aceasta sansa: sa devina personaje Slayers, controlati in totalitate de altcineva, urmand ca dupa 30 de runde in care au supravietuit sa fie eliberati. Aceste jocuri au o popularitate uimitoare in intreaga lume, tocmai de aceea personajul lui Gerard Butler devine ceva mai mult decat un erou cand reuseste sa treaca de 26 de runde din Slayers, el fiind controlat de un pusti de 17 ani.

Ce m-a scandalizat total a fost simpla idee ca undeva in viitor oamenii vor ajunge atat de nepasatori incat sa isi lase viata in mainile unui necunoscut, sa scape de orice fel de responsabilitati, dar in acelasi timp sa piarda orice putere de decizie, puterea de reactie si chiar instinctul de conservare. Poate tocmai de asta mi-a placut filmul asa mult, pentru ca ilustreaza extrem de bine lumea spre care ne indreptam in mod periculos prin toata aceasta nebunie “2.0″.

“Gamer” e o combinatie de “Surrogates” si un film al carui nume nu reusesc deloc sa mi-l amintesc – l-am vazut in urma cu vreo doi ani si era vorba tot despre detinuti condamnati la moarte care fusesera lasati pe o insula pustie, iar cel care reusea sa supravietuiasca si sa-i omoare pe ceilalti era eliberat. Dar, repet, mi-a placut mult si chiar va recomand sa-l vizionati.

The Surrogates stars actor Bruce Willis who is in a futuristic world where human beings now control robotic versions of who they wish to be which are referred to as their Surrogates. The movie is based on a graphic novel series of which I have not personally read but have been informed that the movie does not quite hold entirely true to the graphic novels. That aside this is a movie review and we are going to look at it from that perspective.

Bruce Willis always manages to find himself in the middle of some quite interesting roles, even as he gets older I find his work continues to be a high level of interest. That being said Surrogates as interesting as it seems on the surface did not quite deliver the cinematic punch I was hoping for.

The movie revolves around Tom Greer (Bruce Willis) as he investigates the murder of two Surrogates which resulted in the murder of their human operates, a crime which has never occurred in the history of Surrogate use. Greer tends to believe that Surrogate life is overused and often tells his wife that he would like for them to spend time together outside of their Surrogate bodies.

The investigation leads Greer to a character that is known as The Prophet (Ving Rhames) who leads a group of human beings that believe Surrogate life is wrong and should not ever be used. This movie tends to posses a strong statement about technology and the direction our own world seems to be going in, yet it does not deliver the impact that it’s very own premise wants to deliver.

Surrogates is a movie which I am not going to steer people away from as I did find it quite interesting in many ways. The only trouble is that the movie itself does not surprise you in anyway, nor does it quite drive it’s own message home either. Surrogates is a wait for video type of movie and could very well find a good home in some peoples DVD or Blu-Ray collections as well. Overall the movie itself is worth a watch but not one to rush yourself in to.

Очень понравился сюжет фильма “Суррогаты“. В нем затрагивается проблема замены человека роботами. Поскольку я начинающий писатель фантаст , для меня данная замена является лишь вопросом времени. Хотя, насчет возвращения человека к прежней жизни без машин не уверен. В “Суррогаты” создатели преподнесли конец, когда роботы уничтожаются и у людей просто нет выбора, как начать жить как прежде. Но на то это и фильм, что бы заканчиваться хорошо. Мое личное мнение – когда человек попробует данную замену, ему ох как не захочется отказываться от нее.
Что же касается игры актеров в “Суррогаты” – претензий нет. Каждый выполнил свою роль на высоком уровне, хотя надо признать, что Брюс Уиллис уже постарел…
Эффекты и трюки в “Суррогаты” тоже порадовали глаз. Не то, что бы они были на высочайшем уровне, но все же очень и очень хорошие. Хотя, на мой взгляд в “Суррогаты” не хватает драк. Но, как я уже писал, Брюс Уиллис постарел…
Советую посмотреть этот фильм всем – его поймут и дети, и взрослые. “Суррогаты” достаточно интересный, что бы Вам не захотелось бросить его и не смотреть до конца.

I en ikke så fjern fremtid, har mennesket opfundet robotter, som har erstattet mennesker i det daglige billede, (næsten) alle mennesker ligger sikkert i deres hjem, og styrer deres robotter. Dette har gjort at kriminalitet næsten er et ikke eksisterende begreb længere. Der er dog en lille gruppe af menesker, som nægter at lade robotter leve deres liv for dem. Noget går dog galt og hovedpersonen, spillet af Bruce Willis, en politimand bliver tvunget ud af sin sikre tilværelse, og pludseligt er alle menneskers liv i fare.
Det er en god aktion/sci fi film, med nogle godt plot twists derfor får den 4/5 stjerner.

pasti anda berpikir, “telat sekali saya baru menonton film ini” haha, memang, dengan beban skripsi yang menanti saya trus menerus otomatis menonton film pun harus dikurangi, tapi surrogates ini memang film incaran saya dari dulu, mengapa? science-fiction plus bruce willis! nampak tidak bisa dilewatkan. hanya saja nampaknya saya terlalu high expectated terhadap film yang satu ini, saya berpikir bakal terjadi pertempuran yang mantap, konspirasi yang membingungkan, plus adegan action yang memacu jantung anda, tapi nampaknya saya salah, ide cerita memang blum pernah diangkat, tapi mungkin film ini terlalu pendek dan terlalu sedikit yang bisa disampaikan, walaupun pada akhirnya mungkin agak agak berbau “twist” tapi nampaknya tidak, yah memang mengerikan kalo masa depan terjadi seperti ini, dimana kita sebagai manusia asli digantikan oleh robot pengganti kita tanpa tahu sebenarnya resiko lebih besar mengancam kita dimana mungkin kita bisa kehilangan jiwa kita. but, this movie is not enough, ya lumayanlah untuk membunuh waktu.

After reading Amy May Shead’s Blog: “The human being – self centered”, it made me think about the way we communicate. In a conversation I had with Ms. Shead yesterday, she made me realise that there is a generation of children that are growing up who does not know life before texting, instant messaging, twitter, facebook, social networking.

Before coming to this country, I was the kind of person that despised texting. I could barely tolerate talking on the phone. I preferred having a person to person conversation with no medium in between. I can honestly say that I was addicted to instant messaging and Facebook, but I found that it did not impede upon my ability to communicate in a person to person format. I was never an outgoing person, but once I became comfortable with a person, it became easy to strike up and maintain a conversation about anything.

Lately I have noticed (as have some of my friends) that it has become more of a challenge to talk to people on a one on one basis. Hand me a cell phone or a computer and I can go on for hours if I wanted to. This change in my behaviour I believe can be attributed to my increase in texting. I find myself texting significantly more often that I did back home. This is because it’s less costly to send an SMS than it is to make a phone call.

If only a few weeks of texting has sparked such a dramatic change in my behaviour, I wonder what it has done to the generation that grew up with cell phones in their hands. Will these people be able to communicate at a high level with out holding an electronic device in their hands? Will people hide behind their electronics to avoid having to face another human being?

Most things adapt to the changing times. In the future will job interviews be conducted via instant message? Will the dating scene and courtship change? Everyone has seen a group of people sitting at a table texting each other and others. Is this the future of society’s social construct? Will people live vicariously through technology?

Ultimately the key factor that’s being affected is our ability to communicate on a person to person basis. Human interaction is an important part of development when we are young. Facial expressions and body language accessorise speech. If the text generation do not develop these skills how will they be able to function in society? What will the future of interpersonal communcation look like?

In September, HW Design Inc. attended a screening of the moving and visually stunning independent film, INK.  You can read our review of the film above.  This week, we were excited and intrigued to hear some fascinating news from director/writer Jamin Winans. 

On November 5th, INK was uploaded to a number of pirate websites.  During the following 72 hours, it was downloaded over 150,000 times!  On November 7th, INK was the most downloaded film on Pirate Bay. 

This activity boosted INK to #16 on the IMDb MovieMeter.  Ink jumped from a position of 12,991 on IMDB to #16, moving it ahead of major studio films like, SAW IV, WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE and the breakout indie hit, PRECIOUS.  Currently, the film has been downloaded over a half a million times.

The surge in exposure brings up all sorts of questions about internet piracy and the ups and downs of being an independent film producer in today’s down economy.

For the record, we do not condone piracy nor do we ever download any music, films or TV shows for free. Artists should be paid for their hard work. That said, it is possible that the exposure Ink has just gotten across free download sites has catapulted the film into an entirely new realm. Remember that Wolverine, a franchise film with a budget of $130 million, got leaked via bit torrent before its release and got 100,000 hits in 24 hours. Ink managed to do half that in downloads, and was number 1 on Pirate Bay yesterday with more hits than Paranormal Activity, Surrogates and Julie and Julia. Очень понравился сюжет фильма “Суррогаты“. В нем затрагивается проблема замены человека роботами. Поскольку я начинающий писатель фантаст , для меня данная замена является лишь вопросом времени. Хотя, насчет возвращения человека к прежней жизни без машин не уверен. В “Суррогаты” создатели преподнесли конец, когда роботы уничтожаются и у людей просто нет выбора, как начать жить как прежде. Но на то это и фильм, что бы заканчиваться хорошо. Мое личное мнение – когда человек попробует данную замену, ему ох как не захочется отказываться от нее.
Что же касается игры актеров в “Суррогаты” – претензий нет. Каждый выполнил свою роль на высоком уровне, хотя надо признать, что Брюс Уиллис уже постарел…
Эффекты и трюки в “Суррогаты” тоже порадовали глаз. Не то, что бы они были на высочайшем уровне, но все же очень и очень хорошие. Хотя, на мой взгляд в “Суррогаты” не хватает драк. Но, как я уже писал, Брюс Уиллис постарел…
Советую посмотреть этот фильм всем – его поймут и дети, и взрослые. “Суррогаты” достаточно интересный, что бы Вам не захотелось бросить его и не смотреть до конца.

For some unknown reasons, I had this adrenalin rush over the weekends for couching out on movies that I watched like, six of them! Goshz, I couldn’t believe it myself man!

So, in no particular order of merit or whatsoever, here are they!

Pretty recent movies, except The Day After Tomorrow, which I thought I’d like to watch again. And if you ask me, I probably would give a big thumb-up to Wanted and I Love You, Man. A bit of a disappointment for both Wall-E and Paranormal Activity though, and I’m glad I didn’t waste my time at the theater for them. Hahaha…! =P

“Surrogates” este un SF politist cu Bruce Willis. Dintre filmele in care B W face pe eroul in viitor se numara “Armata celor 12 maimute”. Dar “Surrogates” seamana mai degraba cu “Matrix”, “I, Robot” si “Minority report”, ca idei.

Ideea de baza a filmului nu e rea: in viitor oamenii vor sta acasa traind prin niste roboti (surogate) care arata asa cum vor oamenii sa arate, sunt aproape mult mai puternici dpdv fizic etc. O idee nu chiar departe de zilele noastre, daca ne gandim la Second Life sau dependenta de jocuri care sunt tot o realitate virtuala.

Sa faci un film despre asta prezinta cateva avantaje:

• actorii nu trebuie sa joace bine pentru ca interpreteaza roboti
• exista un pretext pt care toti arata perfect, din acelasi motiv, ceea ce ii place publicului
• efectele speciale sunt la locul lor (pt ca robotii pot face lucruri pe care oamenii nu le pot face), idem

Deci, cum poti sa o dai in bara cand ai aceste privilegii? Poti sa umpli filmul de clisee, sa ai o intriga previzibila si un schimb de replici absolut steril (B W are o singura replica cat de cat amuzanta, dar si aia e spusa fara convingere), adica toate lucrurile pe care echipa care a realizat “Surrogate” le-a bifat.

Deci, daca vreti neaparat sa vedeti filmul, macar nu dati bani pt asta, e de ajuns ca pierdeti timpul.
