Exista multe si diferite argumente in alegerea unei masini. Iar faptul ca Subaru este diferita ar putea fi cel mai bun argument. Pentru ca, cu cat stii mai multe despre Subaru, cu atat esti mai tentat sa te intrebi “De ce nu sunt construite asa toate masinile?”. La volanul unui Subaru traiesti o senzatie absolut unica, de incredere in masina si, pe masura ce ii descoperi calitatile iti ofera un sentiment unic de incantare. Am trait aceste senzatii cand, intalnindu-mi un prieten, am acceptat sa-mi arate masina pe care tocmai si-o cumparase: un Subaru Impreza WRX STI. Nu mai completez decat faptul ca eram in Sinaia deci am trait experienta Subaru pe asfalt, serpentine, macadam si drum forestier.

Astazi am mers intr-un showroom al marcii asa incat iata opinii despre Subaru in general, nu doar despre Impreza. De altfel preferata mea a ramas modelul Outback, o combinatie intre masina sportiva, de familie si business. Ce iese in evidenta la masinile Subaru nu este sistemul de navigatie High Resolution cu DVD, nici sunetul premium cu “n” difuzoare si SRS Circle Surround, sau mufa pentru iPod. Acestea se gasesc si la alte marci. Sub capota se gasesc doua minuni ale tehnicii: sistemul Symmetrical AWD si Subaru Boxer.

Symmetrical AWD (All Wheel Drive) consta in dispunerea simetrica si in linie dreapta a motorului si transmisiei. Puterea lui se transmite catre rori mai simplu si mai direct, creand un echilibru aproape natural si o senzatie de control absolut asupra manevrabilitatii. Iar motorul Subaru Boxer are pistoanele dispuse orizontal si la 180 de grade unul fata de altul, pe ambele laturi ale masinii, realizand un profil mai coborat si mai plat in comparatie cu alte tipuri de motoare. Rezulta un centru de greutate mai coborat, un echilibru mai bun si o stabilitate mai mare la abordarea virajelor. In plus miscarile pistoanelor opuse se contrabalanseaza, contribuind la reducerea vibratiilor.

Dincolo de acestea, celelalte dotari par niste gadgeturi: frana de mana electronica, oglinzi de parasolar iluminate, compartiment de depozitare in plafon sau ventilatie separata pentru zona din spate a masinii. Va recomand asadar ca in limita timpului disponibil sa mergeti sa vedeti masinile sau de ce nu, sa faceti un drive-test, chiar si pentru placerea de a conduce un Subaru.

De cand lumea si pamantul oamenilor le-a placut sa asculte muzica. La inceput au fost nevoiti sa mearga, sa se stranga acolo unde erau muzicienii. Apoi au putut sa asculte muzica din intimitatea caminelor lor. De 100 de ani gusturile rafinate (sau pretentioase dupa caz) asculta Yahama. Nu sunt un audiofil dar am avut ocazia sa simt vibratiile la ultima HIFIarena de acum doua saptamani. Azi am vazut pe birou catalogul Yamaha luat de la eveniment asa ca am purces la documentare pe yamaha-hifi.com si hifi.yamaha-europe.com. Va recomand ultimul site, chiar numai pentru a asculta in casti (preferabil) cele cateva cantece care ruleaza in background. De milioane.

Ce face Yamaha? Pentru consumatorii casnici produc incinte acustice (caci boxe e un termen destul de impropriu), sisteme audio (deck-uri plus boxe), amplificatoare audio, playere pentru compact discuri (nu au nici o legatura cu ceea ce stim majoritatea dintre noi despre CD playere), docking-station-uri pentru iPod care arata science-fiction. Un produs care uimeste este cel numit Digital Sound Projector, de fapt sunt mai multe modele, este un produs destinat celor care vor in casa un sistem home-theatre si sunet stereo surround dar care nu vor multe boxe si cabluri. Pentru ei exista acest produs care emite totul dintr-o singura unitate! Compact, fara cabluri, aratos, sunet curat, ma intreb cat costa. Si pentru ca nu s-au oprit la audio, au produs si home-theatre-uri, playere DVD si playere Blu-Ray.

Pentru ca mi-e greu sa explic feature-urile lor o sa enumar doar cateva dintre ele care au denumiri de marketing bine preparate: Dolby True HD, Digital Top-Art, Silent Cinema, dts-HD Master Audio, Air Surround Xtreme, IntelliBeam, Full-Stage Balanced Signal Transmission, Silent Loader, PlayXchange. Iar Top-Art vine de la Total Purity Audio Reproduction Technology. In spatele acestor denumiri e mult marketing bineinteles dar si mai multa calitate a sunetului.

Iar cand intrebarea nu este ce sistem home-theatre sa-mi iau ci cate canale, cate programe surround, cate alte functionalitati, Yamaha pare a fi raspunsul, oferind solutii si pentru noii veniti si pentru veteranii muzicii bune.

Have a great semester!

Finally back to making music. Just started on the surround mixes for parallax eden. The first song has 36 stereo tracks and I’ve really started to work on a new method of mixing that heavily involves the use of sub-grouping to isolate the various instrument groupings. The system’s sounding really good… and I’m back on the runway!

If you want to bring all your media content to your television (High Definition or Standard Definition) or any other screen supporting DVI with HDCP or HDMI and for less then 100 EUR.

Without WD TV

• I have to connect the laptop to my TV using a DVI to HDMI adapter for the IMAGE
• I have to connect 3 cables to the audio jacks from my laptop to my surround receiver for SURROUND SOUND
• I have to connect the power cable to the laptop because my TV isn’t anywhere near my desk
• I have to configure my laptop so I get a descent image on my TV
• I have to position my laptop in such a way the screen does not shine into my eyes or configure the TV as single display

With WD TV

• I have to put the movie on usb disk
• Connect the disk to the WD TV

How do I connect it?

What does it do?

I mainly use it to play 1080p and 720p video’s. I’ve had it for a couple months now and the only format I encountered that did not play was WMVHD (which is not supported). These images below show all the supported formats. You can also play .ISO files and Dolby Digital EX and DTS ES are also supported (if your receiver supports it). I have some HD movies with DTS ES and get 6.1 channel sound. There is no mention of this in the manual.

If a video should have multiple audio tracks (for example Spanish and English) or Built-in subtitle you can enable/disable these during playback. It is also possible to add your own subtitles (SRT, SSA, ASS and SAMI) by naming the file exactely the same as your movie.

How does it look?

As you can see, if you put a .jpeg in the same folder with the same name as the movie, you get kinky thumbnails. I’ve only done this for a few movies. You have to do it for all movies or put the view on ‘list view’ otherwise it’s just ugly. (As you can see)

I thought it would be convenient to show the supported output resolutions/refresh rates. Put in on auto if you are not sure what framerate your video is.

An this is how the main menu looks. You can play music and do other things simultaneously as shown in the picture below.

Sound and image quality

Sound and image for HD video’s is superb.

A lot of HD files only have DTS or Dolby Digital audio. YOU NEED A DTS and/or DOLBY DIGITAL CAPABLE RECEIVER to playback the audio on these files. Don’t be fooled by the analog stereo output.

“‘Ultra High Definition (UHD), Ultra High Definition Video (UHDV), Ultra High Definition Television (UHDTV), Extreme Definition Video and 8K is an experimental digital video format, currently proposed by NHK of Japan, the BBC, and RAI [RTE]

The new format has a resolution of 7680 × 4320 pixels, four times as wide and four times as high (for a total of 16 times the pixel resolution) as existing HDTV, which has a maximum resolution of 1920 × 1080 pixels. Those who know me, know that I’ve been going through a rough and interesting time lately… Here’s my official response to the universe:

During the 2008 Presidential campaign Barack Obama told audiences, “Judge me by the people with whom I surround myself.”

And he has surrounded himself with demons.

He surrounded himself with Van Jones – a communist; a supporter of cop murderers; a man who took the terrorists’ side on 9/11; a man who signed a “truther” statement demonizing President Bush for secretly attacking the World Trade Center Twin Towers on September 11; a racist who accused even white liberals of being murderers who deliberately poisoned people of color; etc. etc. etc.

He surrounded himself with men like Cass Sunstein and Ezekiel Emanuel, who have said things like:

- “When implemented, the Complete Lives system produces a priority curve on which individuals aged between roughly 15 and 40 years get the most substantial chance, whereas the youngest and oldest people get chances that are attenuated… The Complete Lives system justifies preference to younger people because of priority to the worst-off rather than instrumental value.” – Ezekiel Emanuel, Obama’s handpicked health policy adviser at the Office of Management and Budget, and appointed by Obama to serve on the Federal Council on Comparative Effectiveness Resarch

- “I urge that the government should indeed focus on life-years rather than lives. A program that saves young people produces more welfare than one that saves old people.” – Cass Sunstein, Obama’s Regulatory Czar.

And Dr. Mengele couldn’t have put it much better.

Barack Obama has surrounded himself with men like his science czar, John Holdren, who has stated:

– Indeed, it has been concluded that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently severe to endanger the society.

- It would even be possible to require pregnant single women to marry or have abortions, perhaps as an alternative to placement for adoption, depending on the society.

- Adding a sterilant to drinking water or staple foods is a suggestion that seems to horrify people more than most proposals for involuntary fertility control. Indeed, this would pose some very difficult political, legal, and social questions, to say nothing of the technical problems. No such sterilant exists today, nor does one appear to be under development. To be acceptable, such a substance would have to meet some rather stiff requirements: it must be uniformly effective, despite widely varying doses received by individuals, and despite varying degrees of fertility and sensitivity among individuals; it must be free of dangerous or unpleasant side effects; and it must have no effect on members of the opposite sex, children, old people, pets, or livestock.

And now we are learning that he has surrounded himself with a teacher who refused to protect a child under his counseling from being sodomized by a pedophile.

Kevin Jennings, appointed as the Director of the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools, is another Obama buddy out of ultra-corrupt Chicago.

In 1997, according to a transcript put together by Brian J. Burt, managing editor of the student-run Harvard Journal of Law and Public Policy, Jennings said he hoped that promoting homosexuality in schools would be considered fine in the future.

“One of our board members” was called to testify before Congress when they had hearings on the promotion of homosexuality in schools,” Jennings said. “And we were busy putting out press releases, and saying, “We’re not promoting homosexuality, that’s not what our program’s about. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah…. ‘

“Being finished might someday mean that most straight people, when they would hear that someone was promoting homosexuality, would say ‘Yeah, who cares?’ because they wouldn’t necessarily equate homosexuality with something bad that you would not want to promote.”

The group Jennings founded has also been accused of promoting homosexuality in schools. At a GLSEN conference in 2000, co-sponsored with the Massachusetts Department of Education, the group landed in hot water when it was revealed that it had included an educational seminar for kids that graphically described some unorthodox sex techniques.

A state official who spoke to teens at the conference said:

“Fisting (forcing one’s entire hand into another person’s rectum or vagina) often gets a bad rap….[It's] an experience of letting somebody into your body that you want to be that close and intimate with…[and] to put you into an exploratory mode.”

You see, I think most parents would rather teachers and public schools teach their kids to be in “exploratory mode” of damn near anything else than their children’s rectums.  Am I wrong?

And then we have Kevin Jennings sharing how he provided advice to a fifteen year-old sophomore:

Another controversy from Jennings’ past concerns an account in his 1994 book, “One Teacher In 10,” about how, as a teacher, he knew a high school sophomore named Brewster who was “involved” with an “older man”:

“Out spilled a story about his involvement with an older man he had met in Boston. I listened, sympathized, and offered advice. He left my office with a smile on his face that I would see every time I saw him on the campus for the next two years, until he graduated.”

The account led Diane Lenning, head of the National Education Association’s Republican Educators Caucus, to criticize Jennings in 2004 for not alerting school and state authorities about the boy’s situation, calling Jennings’ failure to do so an “unethical practice.”

Jennings threatened to sue Lenning for libel, saying she had no evidence that he knew the student in question was sexually active, or that he failed to report the situation.

But a professor at Grove City College in Pennsylvania, Warren Throckmorton, has produced an audio recording of a speech Jennings gave in 2000 at a GLSEN rally in Iowa, in which Jennings made it clear that he believed the student was sexually active:

“I said, ‘What were you doing in Boston on a school night, Brewster?’ He got very quiet, and he finally looked at me and said, ‘Well I met someone in the bus station bathroom and I went home with him.’ High school sophomore, 15 years old’ I looked at Brewster and said, ‘You know, I hope you knew to use a condom.’”  [Audio is available here via Youtube, and the professor's website contains a transcript of Jenning's account with Brewster].

The Washington Times reported in 2004 that “state authorities said Mr. Jennings filed no report in 1988.” A spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Department for Children and Families, the department to which Jennings — as a Massachusetts teacher — would have been legally obliged to report the situation, did not return calls from FOXNews.com.

Kevin Jennings is an advocate for homosexual pedophilia.  He has in his past openly supported the North American Man-Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) by way of praising Harry Hay.  Jennings wrote the forward to a book entitled, The Queering of American Education.  For what it’s worth, fellow Chicago Obama buddy and terrorist Bill Ayers wrote a note endorsing the book on its cover jacket.

This is the man that Obama “entrusted” with ultimate care over your children.  But he is a demon in masquerade.

The despicable personal conduct, followed by the threat of a lawsuit when it was revealed, reminds me of another organization that Obama chose to surround himself with — ACORN.

Contrary to the left’s dismissal, Obama’s ties with ACORN are deep, and go back more than 20 years.

Two kids who were sick of the lefts’ corruption, hypocrisy, and vileness decided to see if ACORN would fall for the most horrendous scenario they could imagine: a prostitute and her pimp seeking to commit federal income tax fraud so they could purchase a house with the intent of importing child sex slaves from El Salvador so they could start a brothel.

And Obama’s ACORN fell for it – on film – on at least five separate occasions in five separate ACORN offices.

Let us judge Obama by the people with whom he has surrounded himself.  Because he has surrounded himself with the devil – and demons are doing his bidding.

And let us finally begin to think about how God will judge these demons – and the president who surrounded himself with them.  And, yes, the nation that elected that president.

Galatians 6:7 makes it clear, “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.”  And it is not just individuals who fall under God’s judgment, but nations.  As Psalm 110:6 says, “He will judge the nations, heaping up the dead and crushing the rulers of the whole earth.”

Had an AWESOME time at SAE in Vienna recently… My buddies Edvard and BB from AVITech did a full setup of PMC surround speakers and a packed room listened to amazing surround music for several hours. The staff at SAE were also great… the head of the school Barbara is super-nice, super-capable and super-fun – I feel like I gained a good buddy!
I also had a chance to hear a cut from the “Sign o’ times” Simple Minds surround mix by Ronald Prent. That was freakin’ awesome! I look forward to getting the disc.

As our trip to Vienna begins to wind down, our social calendar is filling up. Last night we went out to friends, who made a traditional Vienese dinner that lasted well into the night. Candle-lit rooms, beutiful garden, great food and great company. It’s funny, having conversations fly around the room in both English and Deutche seems perfectly normal now (and I can understand more and more each day). I’ll be putting on a surround-sound seminar at the SAE-Vienna on Monday, my buddy with A/VTech will be supplying a full PMC speaker set.
I’ve also come to a simple realization. When it comes to getting a performance gig or telling people about the type of music that I play or like to listen to… always try to have an example on-hand. When trying to get a gig, I now will always try to have the laptop with me to simply wip it out and start playing part of a set. At the dinner last night, someone asked what type of music that I liked… as usual, I drew a blank… but then I got out the phone and started playing music and they really loved it. You get the idea… listening to the sounds is always worth a thousand words.

I swore based on many online and magazine ratings to only purchase either a Sony or Samsung LCD TV (same manufacturing anyways). I never really considered the Toshiba Regza line until I saw it on display at an architectural exhibit. The colors and detail were absolutely stunning. Despite what CNET described as not that good, the darks were actually really visible and even more so because Toshiba added a more detailed color tweaking menu for the videophiles out there. The menu is VERY simple to understand – and my particular favorite navigation part is the ability to switch inputs so quickly using the left/right toggle buttons.

The sound quality is amazing. There are many built in options here as well. Dolby sound, surround, etc. The speakers are so well hidden and yet sound great.

Other features I love are all the HDMI inputs, an SD Card slot (we can watch slide shows from people’s cameras), and the USB port (WOW you can watch DIVX movies, listen to MP3s etc from an external drive!!!)

I haven’t really given the Clearscan 240 feature a chance yet because I’m waiting for the football games on sunday, but I’m very happy so far with the 120Hz smooth performance. Again, excellent value for all the features you get.

Made it to my favorite cafe in Vienna… Great to be back. Doing a performance here in town on Friday. Definetely still have a major bout of jetlag, but really glad to be back in one of my favorite spots and to see all of my friends and family.

The performance was tons of fun… did a set from “etherium” for the first time. ws accompanied by my buddy Peter (perc/bass guitar) and Matheus (guitar). It was REALLY fun to play off of the other musicians and to impov into a new space. I think I’m gonna try to work towards a band idea in the near future. Auf Wedersehen!
