You don’t have the time or the resources to evaluate every applicant who strolls in. to guide your work, you should develop a profile of your “ideal” candidate. You may never find your ideal, but you will establish a basic framework that outlines the person you are looking for.

Developing an ideal candidate profile is similar to viewing a lineup of suspects after you’ve witnessed a bank robbery. The individual you pick out may not be the actual bank robber, but chances are the real criminal is strongly similar. Often, a lineup helps police establish the silhouette or basic framework of the person being sought. The police is clear even if the details are not. Likewise, your ideal candidate profile will give you a sharper idea of what you are really looking for, so that you can increase your odds of finding him or her.

Use the following outline to develop of profile of your ideal candidate:

Be specific when you draft your outline. If you want someone with strong follow-up skills, say so. If you want an assertive person who can handle high stress, say so. To create a good match between job and candidate, you need to define the person as closely as you define the job.

Keep your company culture in mind, too. If your company is team-oriented and flexible, you want a candidate who is comfortable with teamwork—and not everyone is. If your department is highly structured, you want someone who works well in a structured situation. Describe the qualities that your company values so that you can find compatible candidates.

Just remember that defining the candidate is a lot like shopping for groceries: the more you toss into your shopping cart, the more you’ll pay. The cost of filling a job is influenced by two factors: how long it takes to find the candidate, and the supply of qualified candidates. The greater the number of must have items on your list, the longer it’s going to take to find that person. The greater the experience, skills, or education requirements, the smaller the supply of candidates and the larger the compensation package required to hire the person.

Philippines (AFP) – Philippine authorities on Thursday took into custody a politician named as the top suspect in an election massacre that left at least 57 people dead, Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno told reporters.

Andal Ampatuan Jnr was taken by helicopter from his hometown in Maguindanao province on Thursday morning to a nearby airport, from where he would be flown to Manila for questioning, Puno said.

Ampatuan has denied being involved in the killings. “There is no truth to that,” Andal Ampatuan Jnr told reporters here when asked whether he led the killings.

News of the politician’s detention comes as Puno also announced that all the police from the town of Ampatuan are being investigated.

Meanwhile Philippine security forces have poured into the territory of where they have arrested and disarmed gunmen.

An AFP photographer witnessed armoured personnel carriers patrolling highways in the southern province of Maguindanao, and television footage showed police commandos surrounding buildings in major towns controlled by the clan. Related article: forces secure Philippine province

Police announced the operation had secured the first arrests since the brutal explosion of political violence, saying several gunmen were detained on Thursday morning.

“We don’t have an exact number (of those arrested) but our policemen in the area have arrested several,” national police Director General Jesus Verzosa said on DZBB radio.

Maguindanao is a part of the lawless Mindanao island, where Muslim clans rule vast areas backed by their own private armies, often out of the national government’s control.

Monday’s massacre occurred after about 100 Ampatuan gunmen allegedly abducted a convoy of aides and relatives of a rival politician, Esmael Mangudadatu, plus a group of journalists.

The victims were snatched as they were travelling in a six-vehicle convoy to nominate Mangudadatu as the opposition candidate for provincial governor in next year’s elections.

They were shot at close range, some with their hands tied behind their backs, and dumped or buried in shallow graves on a remote farming road close to a town bearing the Ampatuan name.

Fifty-seven bodies have been recovered so far, and police were expected to continue searching Thursday for more potential victims.

Ampatuan Snr had been grooming his son to take over as governor of Maguindanao.

The victims’ relatives alleged the Ampatuans organised the murders so that Mangudadatu would not run for that post.

The ruling Lakas Kampi CMD coalition late on Wednesday expelled both Ampatuans from the party.

Ampatuan’s brother, Zaldy, who was governor of an autonomous region on Mindanao that included Maguindanao, was also expelled.

“(They were) expelled for their failure to uphold party ideals and principles in their area of jurisdiction,” the coalition’s nomination for president in next year’s elections, Gilberto Teodoro, said in a statement.

A search warrant has revealed that 29-year-old Mario McNeill told investigators he took Shaniya Davis last week from her home in Fayetteville to a hotel in Sanford, North Carolina. McNeill was captured on hotel surveillance cameras  holding the little girls in his arms on the elevator.

Police discovered hair and fibers, clothes, and a straw from McNeill’s 1997 Mitsubishi Galant.

5-year-old Shaniya Davis’s body was discovered Monday on the side of a road outside of the city.

As previously reported Antoinette Nicole Davis, the mother of Shaniya, is facing charges of child prostitution, human trafficking, child abuse and filing a false police report.

According to arrest documents cited by local newspaper, The Fayetville Observer, Davis “knowingly provided Shaniya Davis with the intent that she be held in “sexual servitude” and she “permitted an act of prostitution.”

Astonishingly, in 1927…forty years later, a much older Kelly voluntarily returns to the insane asylum and began to chronicle his travels. A typed copy of Kelly’s confession letter survives in the National Archives, and Norris is the first detective to read it. In the letter, Kelly describes having “problems dealing with society“, and being “overtaken with feelings of envy, jealousy, and malice“. Kelly states, “the thing has been hard because of all kinds of ’skank’” (a term he uses to refers to women of low moral character) and “I’ve been on the warpath since I left Broadmoor Asylum.” Also in his letter, he admits to traveling to London after his escape, and more interestingly he tells of traveling to the United States and arriving in New York conveniently before the Carrie Brown murder. He was by profession, a trained upholsterer, and would have known quiet a bit about knives and how to use them effectively for the purpose of murder. Kelly also mentioned traveling to many cities in the US before returning to England and admitted that he came to the US many times over a period of 40 years.

The left composite, was drawn based on 118 year old eye-witness accounts of Jack the Ripper in London. They examined different witness statements and used modern day forensics to come up with a portrait of the killer, even indicating what type of hat he wore.

The drawing on the right, is the result of Mancusi shaving 40 years off of James Kelly’s photo at age 67. As you can see, once they added the type of hat mentioned by eye witnesses, the drawings are a very close match.

In the end, there is no doubt in Norris’ mind that he has found Jack the Ripper. We may never know. John Kelly died of natural causes in 1929 inside Broadmoor Asylum and took his secrets to his grave. In my opinion, Jack the Ripper in America was very well done and is a must-see for all forensic buffs and amateur Ripperologists. I’m interested in seeing further research, analysis and discussion of Norris’ theory. Regarding any factual errors in this post, I apologize in advance, and encourage everyone to let me know what needs to be corrected.

Time After Time

On a lighter note, anybody remember the movie “Time After Time” starring Malcolm McDowell, John Warner and Mary Steenburgen? McDowell played H.G. Wells, who uses his time machine to chase his friend, Warner (aka Jack the Ripper) through the streets of modern day (1979) San Francisco. After watching Norris’ documentary, maybe Hollywood’s silly (but entertaining) version of the Ripper story had a sliver of truth to it after all.

Mais voilà, le jeune homme a déclaré avoir mis à jour son profil Facebook depuis l’ordinateur de son père à Harlem, quelques instants seulement avant l’agression. Un alibi électronique qui va le disculper aux yeux de la cour.

Les réseaux sociaux, une nouvelle arme juridique ?

Facebook serait-il en train de se substituer à toute enquête judiciaire ? En septembre dernier, un voleur avait été appréhendé grâce au réseau social le plus utilisé au monde. En effet, le malfrat avait alors mis à jour son statut depuis l’ordinateur de sa victime, en inscrivant alors « doing robbery » (en train de commettre un vol). Pas très futé, certes. Mais Facebook avait aussi permis à deux fillettes d’être sauvées alors qu’elles étaient coincées dans un collecteur d’eaux pluviales. Elles avaient updaté leur profil depuis leur téléphone portable, et leurs amis avaient alors alerté les autorités compétentes.

Et c’est aussi ce qui a sauvé Rodney Bradford, un jeune new-yorkais de 19 ans. Accusé d’avoir agressé deux passants à Brooklyn le 17 octobre, il avait clamé son innocence, avec comme seule preuve la mise à jour de son profil Facebook depuis l’ordinateur de son père, qui habite Harlem. L’accusation vérifie l’information auprès du réseau social : la connexion provenait bien de l’adresse IP du PC du père. Après douze jours d’incarcération, toutes les charges contre le jeune homme ont été abandonnées. Mais si son innocence ne faisait aucun doute, comment pouvait-on être sûr que c’était bien Rodney Bradford qui se trouvait derrière son ordinateur à ce moment-là ?

Cette affaire met directement en cause la confiance que peut attribuer la justice envers les preuves numériques. Car si le profil de Rodney avait effectivement été mis à jour quelques minutes avant l’agression, rien ne prouve qu’il est l’auteur de ce message. Avec un identifiant et un mot de passe, n’importe qui aurait pu se substituer à lui derrière le clavier. Pour son avocat, Robert Reuland, il s’agit néanmoins d’un « alibi solide », confirmé par le père et la belle-mère du suspect. Et c’est sans doute ce qui a conforté le jury dans sa décision de relaxer le présumé coupable au bout de deux mois. Comme quoi, demander à sa copine où elle a rangé les gâteaux peut vous éviter la prison. Merci Facebook.

President Obama on Saturday urged Congress to hold off on any investigation of the Fort Hood rampage until federal law enforcement and military authorities have completed their probes into the shootings at the Texas Army post, which left 13 people dead.

One correction I MUST make, Fox: FOURTEEN people were left dead because of this radical Islamic terrorist. One was the unborn child of one of his victims. So, let’s get it right. Fourteen people lost their lives in this massacre; not thirteen. Please continue.

Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, 39, was charged on Thursday with the shooting spree at Fort Hood last week. Army investigators have said Hasan is the only suspect and could face additional charges.

Obama already had ordered a review of all intelligence related to Hasan and whether the information was properly shared and acted upon within government agencies. Several members of Congress, particularly Michigan Rep. Peter Hoekstra, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, have also called for a full examination of what agencies knew about Hasan’s contacts with a radical Muslim cleric in Yemen and others of concern to the U.S.

Hoekstra confirmed this week that government officials knew of about 10 to 20 e-mails between Hasan and the radical imam, beginning in December 2008.

A joint terrorism task force overseen by the FBI learned late last year of Hasan’s repeated contact with the cleric, who encouraged Muslims to kill U.S. troops in Iraq. The FBI said the task force did not refer early information about Hasan to superiors because it concluded he wasn’t linked to terrorism.

Bizarre. Hasan contacts a cleric who encourages Muslims to kill U.S. troops in IRAQ, and BHussein Obama supports the killing of US troops by Muslims. Brotherhood.

Lawmakers, however, already have announced they want their own investigations and were frustrated with what they view as a less-than-forthcoming administration.

Rep. Howard McKeon, R-Calif., said he wanted to go ahead with an investigation from the House Armed Services Committee, where he is the top Republican. He said he wanted an investigation that wouldn’t compromise law enforcement or military investigations that were continuing on separate tracks.

In the Senate, Sen. Joe Lieberman, a Connecticut independent, said his Homeland Security Committee was opening an investigation.

Obama said he was not opposed to hearings — eventually. But he strongly pressed lawmakers to hold off until the probes now under way are completed.

“There is an ongoing investigation into this terrible tragedy,” Obama said. “That investigation will look at the motives of the alleged gunman, including his views and contacts.”

Why? His little black book probably contains many of the same contacts as YOURS, BHussein. THAT’S RIGHT, I SAID IT.

“We must compile every piece of information that was known about the gunman, and we must learn what was done with that information. Once we have those facts, we must act upon them.”
