Former ISI chief Asad Durrani says private US contractors such as Xe (formerly known as Blackwater) and other intelligence agents may be behind the assassination of civilians across Pakistan.

In an exclusive interview with Press TV, Durrani said on Friday that the local militants led by Hakimullah Mehsud primarily target the government and military instillations.

Arguing against the local militants involvements in civilian assassinations, Durrani added that the militants consider Islamabad as a close ally of the US in the so-called ‘war on terror’ and that they have been launching retaliatory attacks against the government targets, particularly since the Pakistani army launched a major offensive against their stronghold in South Waziristan.

Durrani said that he doubted the notorious militants groups were behind a recent surge in attacks on civilian targets across the country.

The former head of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) claimed that certain theories were circulating among Pakistani intellectuals suggesting that the foreign agents or private US contractors could have been orchestrating assassinations on the civilian targets in the nuclear-armed country.

According to Durrani, these attacks were being carried out to encourage Islamabad to be more involved in war against the militants.

Pakistan has experienced a wave of violence over the past two years. Nearly 3,000 people have been killed in bomb attacks and other terrorist operations across the country.

I’ve also had children’s church curriculum published and am a freelance writer for David C. Cook. More importantly, I know what it is like to be in the trenches at the front line of children’s ministry. God has given me a mission and calling to serve you, the children’s ministry pastor and leader.

I’ve been in a time of prayer recently and have felt the leading of the Holy Spirit to set certain goals for 2010. I’m sharing these goals with you and asking you to support this ministry with your prayers.

Emphasis leading children into the presence of God.

Do more teacher training and on site children’s ministry consultations.

Plan an inner city missions trip to the Cleveland/Akron/Canton, Ohio area for Children’s pastors to bring their students to do missions ministry. Our first missions trip will be in the summer of 2011. Look for more details as the year progresses.

Develop and provide a SWAT (Spiritual Warfare Advanced Training) Ministry Packet to help children’s pastor train their students to do ministry.

Announce on January 15th information for the Ignite Mentoring Program for children’s pastors at a price even small churches can afford.

ITHACA — It’s a win that should yield daily law-enforcement dividends, according to Ithaca Police Department officials.

For the second time in a row, the Ithaca Police SWAT team took Top National Team in the 27th International SWAT Round-Up in Orlando, Fla., police officials said. The team, made up 11 Ithaca officers and four Tompkins County sheriff’s deputies, competed against 52 SWAT teams from around the world in early December — the first time they participated in the round up since 2006, when they also took Top National Team.

The win was the payoff for the training the team did all year long, said Deputy Ithaca Police Chief and SWAT Commander John Barber.

“This team trained exceptionally hard in recent months, and that training will carry over into their jobs,” he said.

The SWAT Round-Up is made up of training and individual and team competitions like Hostage Rescue, Officer Rescue, Tower Scramble and Obstacle Course.

“They test your anaerobic and cardiovascular strength,” Barber said. “You have to be clear-headed enough to know what do to do next.”

The SWAT officers train as a team 18 days a year, and the marksmen train an additional 12 days per year, Barber said. That training comes into play during the mentally and physically demanding competition where — in addition to having to run and overcome obstacles — officers must shoot at targets and work through complicated tasks, he explained.

“It requires decision-making skills like target identification,” he said. “In stressful situations, officers tend to revert back to their training.”

Deputy Kyle Koskinen won a Remington rifle after taking first place in the Super Sniper event, and Deputy Nate Humble came in third in the Florida Firearms Challenge, police officials said. Sgt. Scott Garin and Sheriff’s Investigator Charlie Bernhardt ranked third and ninth, respectively, in the Super SWAT Cop event, with Garin moving up from his ranking of fifth in the event in 2006.

This was the first year Officer John Joly competed, and he took 11th place in the individual fitness challenge, Barber said. Team members were working out on their own time to prepare for the round-up, Joly said, and it felt great to win.

“We were really busting our butts to get ready,” he said. “Everything played out exactly as we worked toward.”

The team also had a chance to network with other teams, make connections and trade techniques and best practices, Barber said. That would include the team from Dubai, whom Barber described as “small guys who were incredibly fit.”

“I was very impressed with them,” he said. Barber said he was proud of the Ithaca Team, and Ithaca Police Chief Ed Vallely added praise as well.

“They trained remarkably hard all year long,” Vallely said. “The physical requirements are extreme. Their success in Florida is a reflection of their training and commitment to be the best officers they can be.”

Islamabad has said it will neither accept US-led operations on its soil nor extended CIA-operated drone attacks inside its territories.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Qureshi made the remarks during a briefing with lawmakers in Islamabad on Tuesday, a Press TV correspondent reported.

“We strongly believe that drone attacks were counterproductive and unhelpful in our joint efforts towards winning hearts and minds, which is essential to succeed against violent extremism”, Qureshi said.

The use of CIA-operated drones has increased since Barack Obama became US president. The Nobel Peace Laureate has repeatedly vowed to expand the controversial strikes that have raised anti-US sentiments across Pakistan.

Pakistani officials have opposed the expansion of drone attacks in the country’s tribal areas, as well as strikes on Balochistan, where the US claims Taliban leaders are hiding.

The developments come after US Special Envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke said on Tuesday that the United States has members of its intelligence services in Pakistan, but it has no troops.

A former NATO officer earlier told the Guardian that American Special Forces conducted multiple illegal raids into Pakistan’s tribal areas, which were never declared to the Pakistani government.

On Sunday, thousands of demonstrators in Rawalpindi demanded that the Pakistani government keep a strict eye on Blackwater/Xe and other US security entities operating in the country.

So, my little friend had to suffer a violent death because he had failed as a member of society. It must be said that, to an enormous extent, society had also failed him; failed to instil in him the simplest manners and social graces that would have kept him safe from the likes of me; failed to hunt down his murderer after I left the house teeming with clues; failed to notice me entering or exiting said foetid house; failed to find me suspicious as I made my way home in his borrowed clothes with a borrowed backpack stuffed full of my own blood soaked clothing…

And so,  I sit here, a full week after the event, a free man. No one has come knocking at my door; no one has asked me any questions. No SWAT team has rappelled through my window. The investigation has disappeared from the pages of the local paper and from the autocue of the local television news report. It never made it national. Once again, despite my haphazard and uncontrolled approach, I have gotten away with murder.

My memory is sketchy. I clearly remember the beautiful and explosive rush as my hands gripped his bird-like throat and the orgasmic bliss as I tore it out. I vaguely recall finding the back-pack, stripping down and shoving my sodden clothes in it. I know I had a shower, I remember the ghastly state of the bathroom; flies fossilised in scum on the sink and the bar of cheap soap impaled in a rusty nail inside the shower recess. The curtain was an ecosystem of its own. I showered, blood swirling down the greasy drain, leaving god knows how much DNA behind. I have no memory of searching for clothes but, as I was wearing strange ones on the bus, I obviously did.

I walked out of the darkness of that house and into the painfully bright light of the street. I don’t know how many fibres, hairs, clumps of skin or other traces of myself I’d left behind and I didn’t really care. I was totally drained and just needed to get home. I walked down the street towards the bus stop, edging my way through a crowd of people who didn’t even give me a first glance, let alone a second. After five minutes of leaning on a wall the bus came.  I boarded, paid the fare, sat down and spent my ten-minute journey home picking dried blood out of my fingernails with the corner of my ticket.

A week has gone by. After a few days of tension and anxiety, waiting for that knock on the door, I know I’ve gotten away with it. I’ve always gotten away with it. Now the worried wait is over and the stress has drained away there is a gnawing, hollow space where it used to be, an empty space that has started to fill up, drop by drop, with The Need.

Drop by drop.

Drop by little drop.

Like the blood that soaked through the backpack and drip, drip, dripped a little trail of evidence that anyone could have followed.

Anyone could have, but nobody did.

I’ll kill again soon. I’ll get away with that too. I’ve always gotten away with it.

LONDON: Troubles for Pakistan president Asif Ali Zardari are getting bigger by the day, as the supreme court has now asked the concerned authorities to investigate as to how he purchased the 365-acre home counties estate in the UK worth £4 million. It is worth mentioning here that Zardari had purchased the mock Tudor Rockwood Park in the 1990s , which was soon termed as “Surrey Mahal” by the then opposition leaders.

Zardari is alleged to have spent more than £300,000 on renovations of the 20-room mansion, including building his own private polo field and an exact copy of the local village pub, the Telegraph reported on Friday. The apex court has ordered officials to ask the Swiss government to reopen an investigation into whether the property was bought with laundered money.

The Turkish Government has forced the Kurdistan Issue by banning the Kurdish Democratic Society Party from their government and has banned many of the DCP members from participating in government for life. This will cause great rebellion within the Kurdish community throughout the area outside of Turkey also. Over 40,000,000 Kurds do not have a homeland of their own. Los Angeles, CA, Dec 22 –To protest the Turkish crackdown on the Democratic Society Party-DTP, an elected political party in Turkey, members of the Kurdish Community will hold a demonstration in front of the Turkish consulate between the hours of 1:00 – 3:00 P.M. to denounce the recent Turkish Constitutional Court ruling of DTP closure, followed by arbitrary arrests and banning of DTP officials and members.

A Turkish Constitutional Court ruling has ordered the closure of the Democratic Society Party, DTP—a Kurdish party in the Turkish parliament in 14 years. The closure has outraged Kurdish Community as an intimidating and repressive military atmosphere prevails in Kurdish areas in Eastern Turkey. DTP party members and officials are being targeted and banned from political life. Mr. Ahmet Türk, the co-chair of the DTP, who met President Barack Obama during his official state visit to Turkey on April 6, 2009, and Aysel Tugluk, DTP Member of Parliament, are among those banned from political participation for five years. Despite parliamentary immunity and authority, both are now facing the threat of being imprisoned as five of their colleagues -Selim Sadak, Ahmet Türk, Leyla Zana, Mehmet Hatip Dicle and Orhan Dogan – who have been sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment merely because they have asserted their Kurdish identity. A joyful Christmas season is here for most of you brothers and sisters in blue but for some, a dreadful holiday season looms on the horizon. In the wake of the Ft. Hood massacre and the murders of four Lakewood Washington officers, too many families will experience a Christmas like no other.

I will drive through several states to spend Christmas day with my father. My kids will sit with grandpa as they open presents and my wife will help cook a special Christmas dinner. During this time I will forget about work, the Special Response Team, and all my other responsibilities. I will enjoy a special day with the ones I love the most.

However, the children, the wives, the parents, and families of these American Warriors will gather with heavy hearts and reflect on the lives of the men and women they loved so dearly. Their kids will not feel the joy that my children will feel as they open their Christmas gifts. Their widows will cook Christmas dinner, although filled with pain and sorrow. For these heroic families, this holiday season will be painful to say the least.

The grief these people will suffer is a subtle reminder of why I chose to serve. Just like their husbands, dads, sons, or brothers, we are all willing to make that sacrifice for people we don’t even know.

Sadly, the day has come where violence and mass murder has become a regular occurrence in American culture.

I wonder what the future holds for my youngest children. I’ve worked so hard to provide a stable environment for them. My wife doesn’t work so she can raise our children at home — like most families with a single income, we struggle. Like most of you I spent Christmas day in uniform for many years, answering calls instead of watching my kids play with their new toys. After all, it’s our children’s well-being and futures that we’ve chosen to work so hard for.

The personal sacrifices we make as parents and police officers will be treasured by our kids in their adult lives as they recall memories of their childhood long after we’re gone.

It’s with this sense of commitment that we provide our children a better life.

John Wayne was once asked what he wanted most for his new daughter Marisa. He replied, “I want her to be grateful as I am everyday for living in these United States. The first thing she’s going to learn from me is the Lord’s Prayer. I really don’t care if she ever memorizes the Gettysburg address just so long as she understands it and since little girls are seldom called upon to defend their country she may never have to raise her hand for that oath, but I certainly want her to respect all those who do. I guess that’s all I want for my little girl.”

It appears that the things that Wayne wanted for his children fifty years ago are very similar to the things that I wish for my children and all the children of this country. It’s why I’m willing to sacrifice my tomorrows for theirs. No matter who is in peril in the streets I patrol, I am willing to sacrifice my tomorrows for people I don’t know.

Every time that I pin my badge on my uniform shirt and kiss my children goodbye I accept the terms that face me on the streets, for God is my protector.

As you warriors celebrate Christmas with the ones you love take a minute and reflect on the victims and families from Ft. Hood and the Lakewood Police department. Remember Oakland, California; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Okaloosa County, Florida; Seminole County, Oklahoma; and the dozens of other cities and towns that have lost heroes in 2009.

It is our responsibility to provide these fallen Warriors’ children a safe and bright future. They are our brothers’ children.

The next time you report for another tour of duty, take this with you:

US airstrike kills 8 Punjabi Taliban in North Waziristan By Bill Roggio at The Long War Journal

The US killed eight Islamist terrorists in the third airstrike in two days in Pakistan’s Taliban-controlled tribal agency of North Waziristan.

…The Datta Khel region is a stronghold of both the Haqqani Network and North Waziristan Taliban leader Hafiz Gul Bahadar; they both shelter al Qaeda leaders and fighters. The US has pressured Pakistan to dismantle the Haqqani Network, but has been rebuffed. The Haqqani family is led by Jalaluddin and his son Siraj, who serves as the military commander. The network is based in both Pakistan and Afghanistan, and has the backing of the Pakistani military and its intelligence service. The Haqqanis have strong ties to al Qaeda. Siraj Haqqani is believed to be a member of al Qaeda’s military shura, or council, US intelligence officials have told The Long War Journal.

The US has zeroed in on the Haqqani Network since killing Baitullah Mehsud in an Aug. 5 strike in South Waziristan. Baitullah was the leader of the Movement of the Taliban in Pakistan, one of several Taliban groups operating in Pakistan. Since the Aug. 5 strike, 14 of the 18 reported airstrikes have taken place in North Waziristan, while the other four were in South Waziristan. Nine of the 14 attacks in North Waziristan occurred in territory administered by the Haqqani Network.

So far this year, the US has carried out 50 airstrikes inside Pakistan. In all of 2008, 36 strikes were carried out. Since the US ramped up cross-border attacks in August 2008, 16 senior al Qaeda and Taliban leaders have been killed. Read the rest here.

Now as part of a “clean Afghanistan”, the U.S. is forcing President Hamid Kazari of The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to get rid of ministers in his cabinet that are “corrupt”. Hamid Karzai, the Afghan president, has chosen ministers for his cabinet and presented them to parliament for approval.

The list of 23 was read to parliament by Anwar Khan Jigdalik, the minister for parliamentary affairs, on Saturday after a stormy session during which politicians questioned the legality of the process.
Mohammad Qasim Fahim, the Afghan vice-president, told MPs on Saturday that the nominees were being presented to parliament for “votes of confidence”. “The nominees include some former ministers who have shown excellence in their positions in their past term in office,” Fahim said.

Karzai’s choices are seen as the first test of his stated commitment to building a clean and accountable government and eradicating corruption. Key players:

The world Assembly of Muslim Youth(WAMY) paid tribute to Farman Ali Khan who drowned after saving 14 people mostly Saudi, in the recent floods in Jeddah

Farman Ali Khan elder brother told that Farman was living in Jeddah since 7 years and he runs a small shop in Jeddah, When flood came in Jeddah on 26th November, he was sitting in his shop, the most number of people got stucked on that street where Farman shop was located nearby, When Farman saw the scene, he couldn’t resist himself and went on to save the life of People and succeeded in saving the life of 14 people but couldn’t save himself and drowned.

Farman Ali khan has three daughters who ages b/w 4 to 7 years, Farman was a Karate champion at university level, Farman brother told that he and his father met Saudi Ambassador in Islamabad where Saudi Ambassador paid tribute to Farman ali Khan and quoted him as a Islamic Hero. Saudi Ambassador offered financial assistance to Farman brother and father, but they refused to accept any Financial assistance, which made Saudi Ambassador to name the street with Farman’s Name where Farman succumb while saving the lives of People, Saudi Ambassador also announced that Saudi Government will also award Farman Ali khan with highest Saudi Civil Award.

On the other hand Overseas Foundation in Islamabad, Farman Ali father did a press conference with MNA (Member of National Assembly) and Minister of Overseas Pakistani’s Farooq Sattar, where Mr.Sattar Paid tribute to Farman and offered some financial assistance to his family.
