A quarta temporada de Heroes já tem data para estrear no Brasil, será no dia 12 de janeiro, às 21h no Universal Channel.

Intitulada “Redenção” a temporada que já começou faz tempo nos EUA, não trouxe nada de novo e a audiência só cai a cada semana. Mas os produtores da série estão tentando de tudo, beijo lésbico, novos atores como Robert Knepper (Prison Break) e Madeline Zima (Californication), morte de um importante personagem e outras surpresas sem graça.

Heroes que tinha tudo para ser um grande sucesso, virou uma série chata e que já deveria ter sido cancelada faz tempo.

A Thursday afternoon and NO new Heroes episodes has me thinking. I love Heroes. I love Hiro. If you don’t, that’s cool.

BUT. I don’t care if you have, and I quote from something I read recently about Buffy being an intellectual superior: “a comic collection worth more than most peoples cars”. I don’t care if you think Heroes is very derivative from lesser known comics. If it is full of plot-holes. I love it, sometimes it’s slow but it’s light entertainment which takes me away from a reality that is all too complex sometimes.

So, Heroes would never have a place in academia or intellectual conversation? Personally I like that. I also may have half my ‘facts’ incorrect with what I post below, I am going by memory and as I have said before, that’s pretty much a vast abyss. Also as per usual a random spiel that happens before I think, especially today being sleep deprived, so sorry if I break your head a little.

I love Heroes.

Plus I love Sylar. Hiro is my favorite, he wants to save everyone yet I want Sylar to KILL everyone at the same time. Or atleast try. He just keeps coming back, you can’t stop him – he’s batshit-crazy. The latest episodes have me screaming at the television when I realise there are NO more episodes YARRED for me to watch.

Anyway, Hiro.

Hiro possesses something like, the power to control the space-time continuum. The ability to teleport both himself and others that he comes into physical contact with, both through time and space. To stop time. Though these days his powers are becoming weaker.

He seems to be one of the only characters who wants to use his SUPER POWERS to help other people rather than gain for himself. He is pretty gullible at times. I am pretty sure from memory of the first series that he is a huge comic book fan and sets himself standards to live up to the responsibilities, systems, justice and other things he sees in his comic book friends. “You cannot bribe a hero. My heart is true. My spirit, unbreakable.”

haha. I think this is the only time I have seen him hit a chick, though she’s not really a chick, she has super KICK YOUR ASS homicidal powers.

He believes he is born to be a Hero. Maybe he is. He speaks of Star Trek, Waffles(!!), saving this person, saving that person, saving the world, is notoriously cute, optimistic and hilarious. I love him and I am sure I piss a lot of people off by now from yelling “YATTA!!” waayy too often. I stopped for awhile but Heroes is BACK baby.

I do him little justice. If he were real, hopefully he’d come back in time to redeem himself.. or me. He has a heart of gold and has me laughing and stupid things (I DO NOT usually laugh at stupid comedy) when I am feeling crap. I was told this post needed some more work, they usually do.. I can’t write anymore.. I can only hear “YATTA!” in my head over and over.

4:53 pm: I just worked for over two hours on my upcoming “Best of 2009: Music” post.  I’m only 4 albums in out of the 23 I currently have selected.  Then there’s the “Best of 2009: Film” I have to do.  No, I don’t like to bite off more than I can chew.

5:00 pm: Cocktail time! Just kidding, I don’t have any booze.  Maybe later?

5:08 pm: I hate seeing commercials for local places you enjoy, because local commercials are comprised of crappy stock photography and bad acting.

5:22 pm: What is this I don’t even- some Syfy movie had two girls build a scarecrow, give it a corn penis, then it came to life and started going bonkers.  I wish I had thought of this.

5:44 pm: Ack, I just realized I’m yet to watch last night’s Dexter!  Be back soon.

6:30 pm: Back.  OH SHI!  That was bananas and coconuts!  Showtime’s Dexter is such an amazing program.  Michael C. Hall and James Remar play off one another brilliantly.

6:49 pm: I just ate some very meaty chili that would have benefited from additional spice.

6:57 pm: NBC’s Heroes is my obligated Monday night viewing, but there’s a 3 hour WWE RAW that begs for attention.  I like professional wrestling, big whoop, wanna fight about it?

7:10 pm: I’m going to watch The Powerpuff Girls until 8pm.  Craig McCracken is the man, for real.  And it really bothers me when people think the show is about girls and being girlish as that is full-on wrong.

You slipped on the ice and I grabbed your arm, found myself falling with you. You were tiny, always you-sized, and though your heel should have acted like an ice pick, gravity always pulls us back down. The Reflecting Pool at the Christian Science Center had become a perilous tundra; it was probably about 7 degrees out—with the wind chill, somewhere negative, just like Boston Januaries often are. Still I braved the cold, like I always would for you, and we fell.

“I’m lost!” you yelled inside the bar. I could barely hear you from the couch at my apartment where I’d been waiting for you for the last 4 hours.

“Well, it sounds like you’re in a bar…” I said into that Bluetooth headset that my mother bought me for Christmas and you hated so much.

“But I don’t know where the bar is!” Yep. You were wasted. We had a date that night—we were supposed to have a date that night, anyway. We’d watch Heroes and eat Chinese, curl up, find warmth in one another, and finally spend a night together, a night just like the one we’d both dreamed of but neither could admit. You would come over after your Holiday party at work—you were only going to go for a few hours—but with all that free Champagne you were quickly whisked away. But you called, because you always call, and I swooped in to find you wandering the Back Bay streets in those pointy-toed leopard print heels that matched the silky slip you hid for me beneath your dress.

“No! I’m sorryyy I ruined our date!” you cried as I helped you get your balance again.

“No, you didn’t. It’s fine, we—”

“Yes! I did! We were supposed to—”

“I know.”

“—have a date tonight and we were gonna watch Heroes and—”

“I know.”

“—and eat Foodwall and-and then I got drunk!”

“It’s fine. Really!”

“I don’t want to be drunk anymore!” you cried and I pulled you close to me, kissed your lips with a passion I’d held in check for far too long; I didn’t know what to expect once I gave myself over to it, but a kiss like that was one that I had never had before, never have again. I wrapped my Angel coat around you as we held that moment close, and when our lips finally parted whispered, “Someone’s got to keep you warm” and discovered just how deep those auburn eyes could go. They smiled first, your eyes, and the stretch of the skin around them lifted your mouth upward into a crooked crescent moon.

“Listen,” you slurred—you start every sentence slurring, “Listen…” when you’re drunk. Something like tears welled up behind my teeth, a tidal wave of overwhelming elation, and I took my eyes off of yours for just a moment when the streetlight refracted off the ice below and made glimmer the Celtic Trinity that I bought you for Christmas (you know how I am with shiny things).

My pupils returned to settle in yours like a matching key, turning to unlock the thought you started eight heartbeats ago:

“I love you.”

The thing is, I’m usually pretty creepy, but I’ve never been creepy about a celebrity before. Sure when I was a little teenybopper girl I expressed the right amount of adulation for Leonardo DiCaprio (that I still hold to this day), but I’ve never been as creepy as I am about Zachary Quinto You might know him as Sylar on Heroes (or perhaps Spock in the new Star Trek.)

The thing is, I know I’m creepy and thus would never profess my love on his website or send him random tweets (though I do follow him as of Monday) or make my background a picture of him. But when I look at his picture I actually swoon. An unbelievable creepy feeling usually reserved for real people, my heart actually flutters. I feel pathetic. It’s just that he’s unbelievably sexy, and I love Sylar especially because he’s a psychopathic serial killer, which somehow makes him more sexy. I think me and this fictional character could lead a happy life together killing people, stealing their powers and having amazing sex.

Kennedy était donc rentré chez lui comptant les minutes qui le séparaient encore de son heure pourtant proche.
Lorsque tout à coup, on sonne à sa porte. Il va ouvrir et tombe nez à nez avec un individu doté d’une étrange tête.
Youssoupha -Salut Kennedy, il va falloir que t’arrêtes de me pomper.
Kennedy- Quoi ?
Youssoupha – Non mais ho ! Quand tu dis “je suis le rappeur préféré de ton rappeur préféré” moi je dis “Je suis peut-être le rappeur préféré de ton rappeur préféré » dans mon album qui vient de sortir là.
Kennedy – oh merde…
Youssoupha – et ouais mon gars !

I was all set to drop HEROES when, just in the nick of time, this week’s episode turned out to be pretty good.

If HEROES was in the public consciousness at all, it was because this episode featured Hayden Panettiere’s Claire getting kissed by her roommate Gretchen (played by CALIFORNICATION’s Madeline Zima). So that happened — but in the context of the story, it was actually rather creepy, because Gretchen had been exhibiting stalkerish behavior, and her explanation was that she’s “crushing” on Claire. I’m going to keep an eye on this plotline and see where they take it.

The story that made this week’s episode memorable concerned Peter and Emma bonding when he absorbs her synesthesia power, enabling him to see sound as light. Ironically, this low-key plot contrivance actually made the show look more like a comic book than all the previous super-powered battles combined. The ability to see sounds aped the visual language of a comic book, where sound is represented by wavy vibration lines or onomatopoeia. HEROES showed Emma and Peter perceiving sound as a cloud of multicolored lights, and the two characters were able to connect on a deep (and quiet!) level. (Emma’s power reminds me of X-Men’s Dazzler, but she converts sound into light.) I definitely want to see where this relationship goes.

Meanwhile, Sylar was in Baltimore, getting the third degree from Ghostbusters‘ Winston Zeddemore — I mean, Ernie Hudson. Hudson played Warden Glynn on OZ, which was set in Baltimore. Sylar decided to kidnap his pretty therapist with the odd accent, just like Bruce Willis did in 12 Monkeys (which was also set in Baltimore). That led to the reveal that the Sullivan Brothers carnival can literally travel from place to place. Talk about a roadshow!

The unquestioned hero of HEROES right now is consulting producer Bryan Fuller, who wrote this week’s episode, “Acceptance.” Fuller’s superpower appears to be the ability to grasp these characters and express what makes them great. He has a particular faculty for Noah/H.R.G. and Claire. Fuller wrote the legendary “Company Man” episode back in season one, which crystallized the previously mysterious H.R.G. and arguably made HEROES the breakout hit it (briefly) became. Fuller also deftly emphasizes the camaraderie of Hiro and Ando, making the pair believable buddies. In fact, I think Fuller has a firmer grip on these characters than even creator Tim Kring. (Fuller has imagination to spare: He also created WONDERFALLS and was an executive producer on PUSHING DAISIES.) I never like Tracy except in the stories Fuller has written (see “Cold Snap”). And he also delivered us from the ill-advised Sylar-in-Nathan-form plotline. Does this mean fans will not get to see Adrian Pasdar die in a season finale for once?

This week, I was initially on the fence as to whether I would even watch HEROES. The episode took a little time to build steam, so I was seriously considering abandoning it in favor of the Packers/Vikings football game. But then, something clicked — right around the time Noah and Claire were sharing bowls of cereal and discussing the possible application of bag-and-tag skills to selling lumber. That did it; I was roped back in. H.R.G. may be an ultracompetent field agent, but he’s an all-too-human fish-out-of-water (er…so to speak) on the home front. I don’t want to minimize the contributions of Jack Coleman here; when Noah told Peter that he just didn’t have it in him to get tangled up in another adventure, I really believed him. Coleman meshes especially well with Hayden Panettiere, and H.R.G.’s scenes with his “Claire Bear” always feel like the most realistic relationship on the show (followed by Hiro/Ando). But Fuller is not merely the master of human scenes; he also excels at thinking through the implications of superpowers. Just because Hiro can travel back in time does not mean he can save a man from himself, as Hiro’s funny/sad encounters with the hapless, hopeless Tadashi proved. I hope HEROES does not let Fuller escape.

Heroes’ 9th episode in season four starts with Hiro and Samuel arguing over Charlie, that Hiro will not get Charlie back unless Hiro goes back in time by 8 weeks and retrieves something Mohinder Suresh destroyed. The show takes us back to see Mohinder arguing with his girlfriend Mira about his father’s research (author says with Indian accent). He throws the box of research away and gets on with his life, until he is kept awake because of the intrigue his father’s work brings him. He gets out of bed, digs through the box and finds a film reel titled “Samuel” (Author wants you to know that she got super excited at this point). Mohinder hooks the reel up to a projector and sits back in the darkness to watch his a young Chandra Suresh, his father, proclaim to the camera about earthquakes and tremors and other earthly things coming from a pregnant woman. Well this woman is Samuel Sullivan’s mother and the video pretty much tells us that Samuel’s powers are really, really cool. Anyway, Mohinder uses some equations from his dad’s film to create a compass (which the audience knows has been used by Samuel) and he falls asleep. Mira wakes him up and tells him that if he goes on an adventure, she will not wait for him (beeotch!). Mohinder leaves for the Carnival and mets Joseph Sullivan (Author was really excited at this point too) who tells him that Samuel is his brother. They go to meet Samuel (Author wants to tell you that she was really excited when she saw Samuel as he looked VERY bad ass in black leather), tell him a bogus story about Mohinder writing a book about traveling carnies then Joseph sends Samuel to a fire (Samuel’s hot enough, Joseph!) and leads Mohinder inside the trailer. They speak of Samuel’s ability and Joseph pretty much says “No way in HELL am I going to let Samuel’s ability get more powerful” so Momo leaves (Author got tired of typing out his name so resorted to Revvie’s nickname for her secret lover). Little do Joseph and Momo know, Samuel was outside listening in! So, Momo is at his hotel room telling Mira’s answering machine to please forgive him. Then he takes out the reel, sets it in a trash can, lights a match and drops it. Hiro freezes time as the match is in midair. He switches the reels and time returns. Samuel barges into Momo’s room to watch the flames slowly eat the reel. Samuel argues with Momo over it, shows him a rock that he crushes with his terrakinesis then makes the rock bits plunge into Momo’s chest. Panicked, Samuel flees and Momo falls back and is apparently dead. Then, MIRACLE OF MIRACLES, Momo is ALIVE! Hiro pops out from behind the bed as Momo is wondering what the heck just happened. Hiro had put a Kevlar vest to protect Momo from the future Hiro saw ’cause his power messed up and was first brought to the hotel 10 minutes later. Hiro asks Momo to hide for 8 weeks and pretend he’s dead so Samuel doesn’t really kill him. Momo refuses so Hiro teleports him somewhere. We next see Hiro give present day Samuel the reel and ask for Charlie. Samuel doesn’t comply. Then we see Momo in a mental institution (which REALLY cracked the Author up!!!). *end Hiro/Mohinder*

The rest of the episode was hilarious, suspenseful, and AMAZING! The hospital scene with Peter, Nathan, and Sylar (and Parkman…) was HOT (except Parkman, sorry Grunny). Tracy freezing Claire cracked me UP! Samuel is MY evil butterfly man. And I really recommend that you save #Heroes and #WatchHeroesLive Mondays 9/8c on NBC.

I just created and deleted a post entitled “girls Andrew would go straight for” set to Britney’s Circus…before realizing that the only thing that would make Andrew go straight is Ms. Marvel vs. Dark Ms. Marvel in a pool of brownie mix from Crowne Plaza.   And for anyone who didn’t get that incredibly geeky reference, I apologize.

Olá, Nanomaníacos! O post de hoje é sobre o meu personagem preferido da série Heroes, um seriado onde indivíduos comuns adquirem misteriosamente super-poderes. A ficha que iremos mostrar hoje é de Sylar, conhecido originalmente como Gabriel Grey, ele era um simples relojoeiro que desenvolveu a incrível habilidade de descobrir como as coisas funcionam olhando atentamente pra elas. Esse poder teve um uso especialmente overpower (e nojento) quando ele descobriu que abrindo o crânio de outro indivíduo com super poder e usar o seu próprio poder, ele descobre como o cérebro “funciona” e “aprende” a desenvolver a habilidade de sua super-vítima. Pessoalmente eu acho essa explicação furada, e o seriado é tão bom que eu acredito que isso será melhor explicado no futuro, eu creio que a super-habilidade de enxergar o funcionamento das coisas é só parte de seu poder, que inclui modificar os próprios genes, tornando ele uma espécie de transmorfo à nível molecular. A ficha que vou mostrar a seguir conta com os diversos poderes que Sylar adquiriu até o final da 3a Temporada da série (eu não vou contar as “perdas” que ele adquiriu no caminho, porque é uma explicação meio furada e acho que ele vai acabar readquirindo todos os poderes).

Os dejo el trailer del episodio 10 de la cuarta temporada de la serie Héroes, que lleva como título “Brother’s Keeper”.

Sinopsis:  La verdad ha salido a la luz, ahora el camino de nuestros héroes tomará senderos de lo más peligrosos e imprevisibles. Samuel conocerá cuán poderoso puede llegar a ser y tomará este peligroso poder para encontrar cuál es su verdadero potencial. Mientras que Tracy, empezará a perder el control de sus poderes, con el temor de las consecuencias que podrían alcanzar sus poderes fuera de control. Y Sylar sigue su particular enfrentamiento contra Matt.

So, Matt Parkman is truly a wise man!  He definitely gets the kudos of the week! But I have to tell you that I would be majorly upset if they killed off Detective Matt Parkman!  He is far to valuable of a character, and much beloved to us fans!

This week we got to see our characters in the current element, which seems far superior to last week’s dull HRG story.  Noah is back to his old self, on a mission to destroy heroes (excluding Claire Bear, of course),  and taking names!  He does so with a surprise visit (well, surprise to us anyways!) with the Haitian, Renee.  But explaining to Gretchen that our mysterious Haitian’s ability isn’t enough, and she leaves Claire to go home.  This led to some very akward moments between our cheerleader and her ro0mate/best friend/partner? 

It didn’t seem very clear to me their relationship, and it seemed like Claire was expecting a whole lot more out of it than we initially suspected.  Could Claire have been ready to experiment that way?  Would it have been beneficial to the story?  Absolutely not!  It’s trite, the writers seemed to have just added for shock and awe, and honestly Sylar and Parkman’s story is way more awe and shock inspiring.

Speaking of which, I have really got mad props to send to both Parkman and Sylar for this week’s episode!  That chess match or poker game that they were playing was definitely hardcore!  Yikes!  I see your tire iron, and I raise you a dead waitress!  One has to admit that the funniest moment was Sylar trying to tell the security guard at the airport “you don’t see a gun in my bag!”  And the security guard saying “yes I do!”  Parkman hiding his ability was fantastic!  But honestly how long can they keep that up? 

But as always, the snooze fest story line continued about Emma and Peter…  So, if you are following either of my Twitter feeds (@C_Go or @TVDuchess), you would know this complaint already…  What is up with Peter’s ability?  This section of the story has more holes than a sponge!  He can only have one power at a time, and if he touches you he gains your ability, I get it.  It’s a lame ability, I miss his old one, it made him a far better nemesis to Sylar.  But the problem I have is that he was touching Emma, she was touching him, and there was no transfer of her weak ability to the Petrelli.  What the heck??  Don’t try to give the excuse that he can pick and choose when he wants to take the abilities, because that is definitely not the case!  He accidently got Emma’s ability in the first place.

Someone needs to explain this!  Or give back his original ability!

THEORY:  Nathan runs into Peter right?  Nathan transfers Sylar’s abilities to Peter and he gains back his old power. *fingers crossed*

I might have first been introduced to Moliere’s Le Misanthrope in a 17th Century Literature class, but I’ve always been a bit of a fan of the curmudgen. To be totally truthful, I actually really dislike real-life jerks, but in a book or a play or on TV, I’m all for them.

This occurs to me as we watch an episode of House. He’s hateful, mean, rude and truly an misanthrope, but he’s really, really fun to watch.

Here are a few other world class assholes that I’ve loved onscreen. They’re not necessarily misanthropes, but they probably aren’t people you want to hang out with.

Archie Bunker. I was always slightly scared of him as a kid. And, yes, I watched All In the Family when I was a kid.

Tony Soprano on The Sopranos. He loved Christopher and Big Pussy like brothers and whacked them both. And that was just the tip of the iceberg.

Al Swearengen in Deadwood. Sherriff, gambler, whore…didn’t matter to Al. He was an equal opportunity a-hole.

Sylar in Heroes. Now, to be fair, I kind of got lost during Season 3, but I’m thinking back to old school, Season 1, try to cut Claire’s head open evil Sylar. A bad, horrible, tortured man who is still crazy attractive. Go figure.

Dwight Schrute in The Office.  He’s not evil, but he’s kind of a villain in his tattle-tale tendencies. But his affinity for beets, his hair/glasses combo, and his knowledge of everything nerd make me laugh.

Oscar the Grouch. Enough said.

And did I mention that I love How I Met Your Mother’s Barney Stinson? So good.

Who’s your favourite crabby character? I know I’m missing some good ones.

Στο 9ο επεισόδιο της σειράς η μαζορέτα μας, Claire, πρόκειται να μάθει την αλήθεια πίσω από τις επιθέσεις της αδελφότητας, ενώ ο Sylar επιτέλους παίρνει την κατάσταση στα χέρια του αλλά και τον απόλυτο έλεγχο του Matt που δεν φαίνεται διατεθειμένος να το επιτρέψει. Η μάχη ανάμεσα στους δύο κορυφώνεται με απρόβλεπτες συνέπειες. Όσο για τον Peter απολαμβάνοντας την νέα του ικανότητα, που του έρχεται γάντι για τη δουλειά του, θα βοηθήσει την Emma να ξεκινήσει μία καινούργια ζωή..

Tomorrow is the last day of two things.

Unofficially, it is the last day of my work experience. Officially I continue to Friday, which brings us to the last ‘last’.

It will also be the last day of me being a single child. A state which I have rather enjoyed being. On Friday my sister returns from Colorado, and I will have a sister again. Instead of going to work experience, I’m meeting her at the airport and ‘babysitting’ her, as both parents are away.

I promised her I’d get all my homework out the way, so I don’t have it hanging over my head and we can just chill and hang out. She barely knows me any more, and I barely know her. On the Social Interview app on Facebook, she put the thing that I get most excited about as Tokio Hotel. I will probably dedicate a post to them in the future, but it must be said that I’m in a huff with them. If she was still here in England, she’d know to put Star Trek, Zachary Quinto, or Heroes! Pfff.

So I’ve still got a whole load of statistics coursework to do, my geography coursework to redo, and music to do. But I ignore music because I can’t do it, and I excercise the notion of ‘Out of sight, Out of mind’ with it.

I would like to say a big thank you to the writers, thank you for finally giving Hiro a big story this season, and thank you so much for the big reveal at the end of the episode!  Matt Parkman (and I) have been wondering where Mohinder was hiding all season!  Thank you for making a truly valiant effort in saving this beloved series, because honestly, you’ve finally started picking up the slack!  KEEP IT UP!

I was resistant at first to see Hiro attempting to save Charlie again.  I seem to remember Mr. Nakamura trying that years ago, and consistantly failing.  But this time, he really did cover all of his bases, crossed all his “T’’s, and dotted all of his “I”’s!  He saved her, even going so far as to get Sylar to help her.  Very impressive!  Now if only he could get Sylar to help him.  All of the fans would be sorely ticked off if we lost our lovable Japanese hero!

But I think the most pointless storyline of the episode was that of Noah’s love interest.  Did it matter that he didn’t actually have an affair?  He never would have slept with that woman anyway, she honestly looked too much like Claire.  I think he would’ve thought that creepy, because I sure did!

And speaking of Claire, world’s worst faux ponytail ever?   Save the cheerleader, lose the wig!  Are they ever going to explain how she cuts her hair though?

But we have Samuel (the most interesting character by far this year) trying to enlist Hiro into his collective.  Is Samuel good?  Is he bad?  I have no idea yet, but I am actually guessing that he isn’t.  He is feeling far too much guilt over the loss of Mohinder Suresh and the kidnapping of Charlie Andrews. 

This episode brought it’s A-game and really knocked it out of the park!  I am loving this season!  Except for all of this nonsense with the deaf doctor, she can see colors, wow…  Unless they can show me how this is beneficial to the show, kill her off, or lose her like Micah.  I’m bored with her.

This is not a television blog, but I find it relevant to mention what I think is one the best  portrayals of a sociopath\serial killer personality.

Most commonly referred to as Sylar in the NBC television series Heroes,
Sylar (who is played by Zachary Quinto) is an excellent & in-depth portrayal of an antisocial personality. His continued quest is that for ultimate power & conquest by stealing the other “superpowers” of other people equipped with them by killing them.

He displays a great need of personal importance, a desire to make a big impression, and goes to any lengths to attain it.
While his powers are many, he is still overcome by an insatiable need for more power. He is a serial killer, not always killing just to attain abilities, but also many times for the thrill of it & to get certain people out of his way.

He is a master manipulator, using his abilities to terrorize & confuse who he wishes. It barely takes any time at all for him to drive someone crazy.
He always knows just how to make them tick, during current episodes he is literally inside someone’s head (don’t you love what you can do with sci-fi?) with the intent to take over. He knows just how to make this guy tick, strip him down to nothing, manipulate him until he’s almost clinically insane.

As with many eventual serial murderers, he has not always been intent on sadism & conquest. He experiences multiple traumas in his childhood, such as a repressed memory as witnessing his father kill his mother & being ripped away from his biological parents.
You can feel the raw emotion as you watch the flashback of him as a young child seeing his mother being murdered. It’s not typical that writers attempt to give poise & foster sympathy for the bad guy.  

In many science-fiction series, the villain can be portrayed as evil & nothing more. In Heroes we have gotten to see the person behind the bad.
A unique,  complex persona. He understands what he does is labeled as wrong & is frequently referred to as monster & he’s had times where he’s felt at odds with his disagreeable way of advancing himself. 
Even at one point he took it upon himself to go on somewhat of a soul-search to learn more about his father & in his words “find out why I am the way I am.”

Most often we think of serial killers & sadists & a shallow set of horrible crimes & we can fail to recognise the complex inner works of the mind that committed these crimes.
Sylar is not literally evil, he’s referred to as a villain but certainly not evil.
Yes he is a fictional character, but he paints such a deep picture of a type of person so complex & so seldom understood.

I wish there were more television that do this, that incorporate the good guys & the bad guys into equal categories that allow both sides to be seen as equal characters.  
There is Criminal Minds, that focuses (as the title suggests) on the psychology of the murderer themselves rather than just the archetypal bag & tag of other crime series.  

I believe this is an advancement is television psychology.
After all, none of us are purely good or bad are we?
